ITunes 10.0.1 "the network connection could not be made"

This was not a problem for me on 10.0. I can no longer update my podcasts because I get this error message
"There was a problem downloading (podcast name) the network connection could not be made"
so first I ran diagnostics for the network connection and it said that it could not make a secure connection to the itunes store. I clicked help and it said to add a rule to the windows firewall (even though one already existed), I did that and now its green but I still get the same error message. Here is the information from the diagnostics.

I modified it slightly because my IP address is not necessary for troubleshooting this issue. is anyone else having the same problem? how can i fix this

Did you get anywhere with this? I'm getting the same error when I try to use Home Sharing. It worked through all the 9.x versions, but with 10.0.1, I can't even home share between two identical MacBooks. I get the above error when I try to copy a song / video / etc. from one library to another.

  • I keep getting the follow error messages when I try to sign into iTunes store or redeem a song code: We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again

I keep getting the following error messages on my Mac when I try to redeem a song code: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."  and then, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)."

    Hello, constance132.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

  • Cant buy from itunes store, message says there was a problem downloading - the network connection could not be made

recently changed my PC and successfully exported my itunes library. My problem is that when I now try to buy a song I get a message saying that there was a problem downloading (song) and that the network connection could not be made. Occasionally I get that the itunes store is temporarily unavailable and to try again later. The old PC was running Windows XP and the new one Windows Vista. I have already tried downloading a fresh version of itunes and ticked the repair option. Everything else appears to be working normally. Can anyone help please?

Still having trouble, the computer is authorized and appears normal in its function. Recently discovered that while it lists items I have purchased on another device it will not let me download to this computer and shows the same message as above. Also noticed that itunes says it is not connected to the internet which cannot be true because the list of previous purchases appears. Any help gratefully appreciated

  • Podcast Error Message "The network connection could not be made."

For the past few days, the same 4 of my twenty or so podcasts have had an exclamation point next to them. When clicked, the subject message appears "The network connection could not be made.". I figured these may have been canceled since other podcasts I subscribe to downloaded without a problem. But now, when I go into the iTunes store and try to subscribe to new podcasts, they won't download. I do not get an error message. The download begins and abruptly ends before any data is received. I can subscribe but well, a lot of good that does when nothing comes. Any ideas would be a HUGE help. Oh & yes, my network connection is fine. At least I think it's fine. Everything else internet related is just dandy. Thanks!

I think there may be a networking problem with the specific podcast(s). I have a couple of these myself. It normally indicates I am not playing them on my iPod but sometimes (as now) there is an abnormal situation.
I know that some Internet links have not been working perfectly in the last week or so (and the Apple forums have also been slow perhaps due in part to this), but it might be an idea to track the source down, starting with the iTunes shop and resubscribe.
One I just checked has changed the feed and both are on the iTunes shop, so the first is showing the ! while the second works fine. The same is true for the second feed: although I am subscribed, a check of the originating website shows that the "File is not available."

  • "The network connection could not be made" error

    Hi,
Last night I uploaded my first podcast to iTunes and now, when I try to download it, it says "The network connection could not be made" - is this because iTunes haven't approved it yet? Or could this be an error on my part, e.g. RSS error?
    Thanks!

    Anyone? It's still not approved/working =/.

  • IPhone 4gs 16GB "the network connection could not be made" when downloading apps

IPhone 4s 16GB brand new, "the network connection could not be made" when downloading apps. This problem occurs using Wifi, 3g, and even when pluggin into a computer. Please help

    Anyone? It's still not approved/working =/.

  • "We could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later."

When I try to open the home page in my Itunes I get the message "we could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection is not be established. There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later." It had been working just fine, in fact I had just purchased a song & edited my itunes account. Could changing the name on my account have cause the error message or is something else going on? This is a brand new computer.

I've got an Apple ID problem, too. All of the sudden in the midnight between August 31st and September 1st, the new apps I picked up on the App Store hung forever 'Waiting..' in my iPhone and never turned 'Loading'. When a substantial amont of time had passed, they reported, they 'could not connect to the App Store' and .. disappeared! Well what they told was not perfectly true because I could however connect to the store as I could browse and pick the apps, but the apps just didn't load. I tried to log into my account in iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop, too, and there got exactly the message in the topic title.
It appeared later my Apple ID did not completely fail because when I switched from my home WiFi to the phone 3G, everything worked just as nothing happened. Logically, this intimated my WiFi had flaws. Or, some place between my WiFi router and Apple servers did, to be precise. My router was not to blame because I did no changes to it whatsoever.
All right, it is Saturday today and my ISP is running in unmanned mode meaning no hotline, but I call them on Monday unless the problem disappears by itself. I just wonder what I say, because from non-i-world point of view everything works well, and I know for sure guys in the ISP support don't own any i-stuff, (because they are all android fanatics) . I'm not telling them my Apple ID to let them reproduce the problem on their home equipment, which means I come almost totally proofless.

  • TS1368 we could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established.

On my ipone and my pc this happens how do i fix it!

I'm having the same problem with iTunes on my mac.  First I get a message saying the network connection couldn't be established, and then I get unknown error -50.
Apple status indicates that it isn't a problem with the iTunes store... http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request.  The network connection could not be established.

After receiving the above response, an additional error is displayed.  We could not complete your iTunes Store request.  An unknown error occurred (-50). There was an error in the iTunes Store.  Please try again later.  I've received these responses for the past 3 hours.  I'm also getting an error on my iPhone (Cannot connect to iTunes Store).  Does anyone know what to do to resolve this issue?  Thanks.

Been having this trouble all evening. I use iTunes Match at work so I can leave my external hard drive at home. As a guitar teacher, I rely on it for work. It's mildly comforting to see that others are experiencing this issue and that it's not a problem with my Macbook Pro. I hope Apple fixes this soon!

  • The network connection could not be made

I'm getting this for some but not all of my 13,000+ songs in iTunes match.  I've tried 3 different computers, a variety of Mac, Windows, Windows 7 and iPhones running ios 7.
I've managed to see some of my songs and download 1,000+ songs to a newly authorized computers. Its distressing because I had a hard drive crash a while ago and I am beginning to think I've lost mucho music.

    i have iTunes 6.02 and i can't connect...
here's what i posted in my own thread:
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. An unknown error occured (-3221). Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
i'm connected to the internet... i've tried little things that i've read in other threads.. but i'm at a loss. no matter what i do, i get this error message.
my itunes has given me problems for a little while. i uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice already. it doesn't recognize when i put a cd in.... and when i can get it to play songs (i have to manually open it from the file menu) i can't get it to get CD info, it still says "Track 1, etc..."
i have no idea what to do...
if you could help, that'd be amazing.
nevermind... i can't even get it to play my cd at all now. i get this pop up when i try to import: "The file "Track01.cda" cannot be imported. An unknown error occured. (-50)"

  • Error with BBC Podcasts - "The Network Connection Could not be Made"

One day last week, this just came up with the above error message. It doesn't affect other podcasts that are non-BBC and I re-installed iTunes and even installed the latest version.
    Still nothing.
What could be wrong? The podcasts seem to be there on the BBC website. Just can't get iTunes to make the connection.
I am based in NZ, but as far as I know, there hasn't been any rights changes made in the last few days that affect the podcasts I subscribe to.
Any help - gratefully received. Cheers.

I think something DID happen involving (legal?) rights to non-US (or UK) material.
I'm in the US and was subscribing to a US based podcast of BBC Agatha Christie mysteries.
Yesterday, the podcast "went away". It doesn't exist in Itunes - and, when I clicked on my link, I received a message that the podcast "wasn;t in the U.S. catalogue" (or something to that effect).
I did a little exploring in the Itunes store and discovered that a number of podcasts using UK material had vanished.

  • Problem downloading iPod Software / Network connection could not be made

I am trying to upgrade to version 1.2.1 of the iPod software. I am using version 7.0.2 of iTunes. Whenever I connect my iPod it indicates that there is a newer version of the iPod software. Whenever I try "download and install" or "download only", I get the following error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod 'My iPod'. The network connection could not be made.".
I am able to get on the internet in my browser and I am able to get to the iTunes store just fine.
I checked the solution at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304468, but this article isn't the same error message as the one that I am getting. Note: I did try the solution stated in this article and it didn't help.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    1. Purchased category is only for media, I think.
    2. Applications is for Mac OS X applications only.

  • Network Connection could not be made

Help! I have been subscribing to a spanish lesson podcast for a long time, slowly working through the older lessons. I accidentally hit "Get All" in my iTunes and then made the mistake of trying to stop it. I clicked cancel on each on to stop the onslaught.
Now, I can't download any of them! The exclamation point icon appears on the left and when I click on it, it states "There was a problem in downloading... The Network Connection could not be made."
All othere podcasts work just fine.
I unsubscribed, resubscribed. Shutdown, reboot. I just won't let me download any more! Me puede ayudar? Can you help me?
    Scott

well, it turned out that by waiting a few days, it worked itself out. Suddenly, the download worked. I don't know what fixed it... but it is no longer a problem.
