Itunes 10.1.2 airplay on aTV2

Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help. I used to be able to stream using airplay to my apple TV 2.0 a show as it was downloading. Now (using iTunes 10.1.2), it seems that I can only use airplay to stream to my apple TV shows that have been downloaded and are on my hard drive. The show will play on my monitor as it is downloading but it will not allow me to use airplay. The moment it is finished downloading, it can then be shared using airplay. I used to be able to stream as it was downloading using iTunes 10.1.1 but it now seems to be disabled. Does anyone know if this is intentional or a mistake with 10.1.2?
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I noticed that "Swut" from Orange County, Ca (see the post below) had a reply in the link you gave me referring to "Vipre" , which is an Anti-Virus program that I also use, like "Swut".
I will investigate this further. In defense of Apple, there is no way that they can test against every bit of software that we run on these PCs. I would hope that if we find out that there is some problem with the Vipre interface, both Apple and the Vipre people will be made aware of the problem.
Before I try the iTunes 10.2.1 upgrade again, I'll contact Sunbelt Software- the people who make Vipre and see if they have heard of this problem. I'll let all of you know what the results are.
Thanks- Richard Van Nostrand

I didn't have to go all the way through with TRG10987s solution. When I got to step 4 I noticed that VIPRE had installed multiple virtual network adapters on to of the network adapters. I uninstalled VIPRE thereby deleting the virtual adapters ran the upgrade, and reinstalled VIPRE. Everything works fine now.
Thanks to TG10987, who put me on the path."

get itunes to play over airplay on iphone5s

Your iPhone 5S must first recognize that there is an AirPlay-ready device available to stream to. Does it? If it does, what happens when you try to stream to it? Can any other iTunes server stream to this device?

  • After adding Apple TV, my itunes multiple speaker icon (airplay?) blocks speaker output on my pc.  Local speaker output will not highlight.  Any ideas?

After installing Apple TV on another TV, my Itunes on my PC will not output to speakers.  Apple TV added multiple speaker icon but it will not highlight "local computer".  I can check box but volume bar won't open and no sound comes through although speaker mixer shows signal.  Any ideas?

This same thing is happening to me on only my 2011 Macbook Pro. My other macs and iOS devices can all stream audio to my airplay devices (airport express and atv2) just fine.
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to 1 external speaker
Click the airplay button in iTunes (airplay logo lights blue)
    Select ATV2 or Airport Express
Airplay logo goes back to gray
No audio is played out of airplay
On my Macbook Pro trying to play to multiple external speakers
Click the airplay button in iTunes
    Select "Multiple speakers..."
Check the box next to ATV2 or Airport express
Check box "depresses" like I've clicked it, but the box is never checked
No audio is played out of airplay
Like I said, all of these things work perfectly on all of my other apple devices. It's just this one Macbook Pro that it's failing on. It seemed like it just started failing a month or so ago. It's driving me bonkers!

  • Itunes x64 Windows 8.1 Itunes 11.1.3, Itunes doesn't display airplay icon for multi speakers, it does appear when my iphone connects via airplay to my airport express being used for wireless audio. How to fix ?

Here goes, when Itunes is started (have tried pc reboot and itunes restart) no airplay icon, even though my airport express is connected to second stereo, with green light and confirmed newest firmware for device id A1264 etc. Can send audio to device and device works well.
    BUT
Itunes can only see the wireless speakers when another airplay device (my iphone) pairs and PLAYS via the wireless speakers. THEN Itunes shows the airplay icon, I can then pair my PC to the wireless speakers, connect (says can't play audio because speakers are already paired), disconnect iphone airplay and then the PC connects and can play through wireless speakers.
This is a long process, some sort of glitch etc. and I figure it's an airport express thing maybe that is not announcing itself on the WIFI until it pairs to my iphone, or maybe it's a pc problem that my airplay networking via my PC is not announcing itself properly to bonjour WIFI ?
    Hopefully someone can help me.
    Thanks,
    Laurent

    Open control panel.
    Choose Network and internet
Select the VIEW NETWORK STATUS TASKS under NETWORK and SHARING CENTER section
Choose wireless Network Connection or something similiar. If connected with ethernet then select it and press right button.
    Click the properties button
Find Internet ''PROTOCOL VERSION 6(TCP/IPv6)''  anduncheck it, then click OK.
    Click CLOSE
    Restart your PC and try.

  • Itunes 10.5.1 Airplay not working

I have updated to 10.5.1, after the update Airplay stopped working. OS 10.7.2!  Tried reseting the Airport Express, then re choosing the Airport Express from Multiple Speakers, accepts the check mark, never shows connecting to remote device.  Double checked that I could use Airplay from my Ipad to the same Airport Express that works.  Seems to be related to the new iTunes 10.5.1 update!

  • Why can't reproduce an itunes stream movie over airplay to apple tv?

I have a MacBook Pro with retina display      and OS X 10.10.2 (Yosemite). I tried to reproduce my itunes movies on apple tv (2nd generation) over airplay but I get an error message about protection.

If it is a rental then you will be unable to use AirPlay. You would need to use home sharing and access via the Computers icon on ATV

  • ITunes 11 upgrade degraded AirPlay quality

After upgrading to iTunes 11 the streaming quality of AirPlay has diminished considerably.  I previously experience drop outs, but nothing like I am experiencing now.  Further, I'm noticing that the AirPlay audio stream is out of sync with the audio on the iMac.  I have restarted the computer multiple time, restarted the AirPlay device (Klipsch G-17 Air), and haver resorted to shouting at the both the computer and speaker.  None of these trouble-shooting techniques have worked.

    Hi,
I had the same issues and had a frustrating weekend! :-) . However, it looks like I've solved it. I found a solution for a similar problem in V10.7.2 and it works for V11 as well. The problem is apparently caused by IPv6 and the below steps turns that functionality off (not permanent, you can turn it back on if you need it)
Open a terminal server (find -> type "terminal")
Run this command in a Terminal window:
    networksetup -listallnetworkservices
This will list all network interfaces.  Ethernet, Wi-Fi, etc.  To turn off IPv6 completely on the ethernet port, run:
    networksetup -setv6off Ethernet
Likewise, to turn it off for Wi-Fi use:
    networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi
Check your Network prefs pane under advanced and you'll see a new item has appeared and is checked for IPv6: Off

  • ITunes Alarm Clock with Airplay

Up to a year ago, I had an alarm clock application which I got from the App Store that did a nice alarm clock playing one of my iTunes play list at a certain time in the morning.
Then I moved my computer from my bedroom to my office.  So I can't hear the iMac from my bedroom.  Ok, so I got a set of speakers that can be invoked using AirPlay from iTunes.  As a manual operation it is exactly what I wanted.  However, the alarm clock application has no option to set the Air Play option on iTunes.  If I run iTunes and select my Air Play speakers, when the Alarm clock plays a Playlist, iTunes resets the output to the Computer.  <Sigh>
A few months ago, I found a script that would set the Air Play output device and run a play list.  I was set.  However, I found no option to run this on a schedule.  Since Mountain Lion, the option to run a script from a calendar event was removed.  <double sigh>
Someone suggested Keyboard Maestro which looks like an excellant application for many things.  However, at that point, Apple released iTunes 11 which I installed.  Now I find that the scripts I found on the internet to select Air Play and a particular device via Apple Script no longer works with iTunes 11.  <now I'm up to groan>
Playing around with Keyboard Maestro, I found a way to record a script within KM that will allow me to manipulate the U/I of iTunes with keystrokes and mouse clicks to do what I want.  Problem solved??
NO.  It turns out that the macro I defined in Keyboard Maestro works just fine EXCEPT that if the Screen Saver if running, KM cannot do U/I actions (this according to KM's author who has been very responsive to my requests for support).  He is not sure there is any way to do it.
I'm experimenting to verify this statement by turning off the Energy saver options to turn off the CPU and display and not do Screen Saver.  If that works then I have narrowed down my issue.  I should know tommorrow (I did a test last night but forgot to display the Screen Saver and so it didn't accomplish what I wanted).
Does anyone know how I could solve the problem?  Is there some kind of program I could run that would turn off the Screen Saver when run so the U/I is up and running again when the script I have would work?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same problem.

  • Poor resolution in AirPlay with ATV2?

When using AirPlay to view my MacBook Air (purchased earlier this year), I notice that the screen resolution isn't very good.
Probably a dumb question but because the ATV2 is 720p and the MBAir can output 1080p, is that why I'm seeing the grainy, less smooth computer desktop on my TV?
Mirroring video/audio seems to work fine but when I mirror my desktop is when I notice the poorer quality resolution.

Thanks. I did that already and that's my default setting. It's not fixing the problem. My laptop has direct line of sight to AppleTV and the wifi, too.

  • ITunes forgets sound in Airplay

When I play music via Airplay (Airport Express) on iTunes the speakers go silent after track changes. iTunes is still playing the album but doesn't transmit any audio. This doesn't happen after every track but still frequently. Even 4 times during an album. The sound comes back when I return to the beginning of the track. I would not like to do that.
Where is the problem and how to fix it?

what do you think the OP means by sound? OP OBVIOUSLY means the SOUND that plays with the video.
after the last update (end of september), i tried to airplay through Quicktime and it sent the sound also! but now im trying ti and its not sending sound (yes, i said SOUND)

  • Can't use itunes wifi sync or airplay server after 10.7.3 update

    Hi there,
After updating to 10.7.3 Lion, I cannot get any of the following networking functions to work on my Macbook Air (late 2011)
    - Airplay server
    - itunes wif-fi sync
Was there some sort of problem with bonjour?

Workgroup Manager would not let my Directory Administrator log in. I was able to log in using the local admin login (not localadmin as suggested earlier- that didn't work for me) I am new to the server environment so I don't know if this is voodoo or not but this is what fixed it for me:
    1. Restore Server to last backup of 10.5.2 using Time Machine
    2. Several log directories were missing after I restored so in order to stop the errors I re-created the directories. Some other errors were coming up mentioning kerberos so I decided to try to update again. Time Machine is nice but I don't think its ready for Server yet. (Apple please fix this its a nice feature!)
    3. On a hunch I REMOVED A SPACE IN THE NAME OF MY BOOT DRIVE. From "Name Boot" to "Name_Boot" --- I don't know if this does anything or not but I've heard of weird issues like this in the past.
    4. Repaired Permissions
    5. Applied 10.5.3 combined update
    6. Repaired Permissions (allot of permissions fixed here-supposedly)
Workgroup manager now connects. Time Machine errors out. I havn't gone through the logs yet to see what else the process broke.
I hope this can help someone ore at lease put someone down the right path to discovering the reason for the break.

  • Windows 7 iTunes Home Sharing or AirPlay not working? - Checkpoint

Wanted to share this for anyone else who ends up searching, as it took me a couple days to track it down.  Both Home Sharing and AirPlay stopped working when I upgraded iTunes to 10.2.2, they were both working with 10.1.x.  I tried a number of things, including downgrading, factory reset on my router, etc. and finally tracked it down to my Checkpoint VPN.  Don't know why the problem didn't exist while I was on 10.1, but regardless removing Checkpoint fixed my issue.  Note that I didn't need to be connected to anything via Checkpoint, just having it installed was enough.

I tried re-installing again and did a restart and it seems to be working again.

  • Itunes not connecting via airplay on wired and wireless network

I have some computers on the wired part of my network, and others on wireless. My appletv2 shows in itunes on ALL (both wired and wireless) computers that there exists an AppleTv airplay speaker, but only the computers on the same "side" of the network (wired, or wireless) can actually connect and use the appletv as an airplay device. I have Bell Fibe25 and they provide 2 devices to achieve wireless connectivity, the main VDSL unit that has 4 lan ports on the back, and a basic Cisco WAP610N that connects into one of the lan ports on the VDSL unit for the wireless part.
My firewall is turned off as well.
Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening? My MacPro does not have wireless, and it would not be practical to connect my AppleTV2 to Ethernet cable.
    Thanks in advance,
    S

I have Windows 7 and the same resolution fixed my problem but you do it in a slightly different way:
    Open Control Panel.
    Network and Internet
    Network and Sharing Center
On the left menu bar select "Change adapter Settings"
Right Click on Network Adapter (Might be Wireless or Wired or change Both) select Properties
Under "The connection uses the following items:" UNCHECK - Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
    Click OK
    Restart Itunes and refresh Connection!
    Thanks for your help Shane

  • Itunes automatically switches to airplay

When I start up iTunes, I click on Movies or the TV Shows tab.  I have looked to see if airplay is is set to play on my computer.  It is.  I then click on an episode or a movie to watch on my computer monitor and airplay suddenly begins to send the video to Apple TV instead of playing it on the computer.  I know I can switch back by pressing the airplay button and I do, but when I stop a video and pick a new on just after switching airplay back to play the video on my computer, it begins streaming the new video I picked back to Apple TV.  I do not know how to stop this from automatically happening.  Any ideas or is this a bug?

  • ITunes 10.5.2 airplay problem

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.5.2, I have problems using airplay to connect to my hi-fi speakers.
When I enable them in iTunes I get the message
"Do you want the application "iTunes.app" to accept incoming network connections? "
    immediately followed the message
"An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "hi-fi". The network connection failed".
If I choose "allow" for the first message, deselect "hi-fi" in iTunes and select it again, it works!
This is becoming more annoying having to do this every single time.
I am using an Airport Xpress with airport utility 5.5.3 and Mac OS 10.6.8
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Nigel

My father has a perfectly good working 17 inch MacBook Pro, running on 10.4.8 which is the most modern version it's allowed to run, plus running iTunes 9.x and have the same problem. It does get tiring clicking each time, it does get annoying not being able to use airplay because it blames the firewall, and It gets annoying entering the administrate access and password each time.
When he selects the AirPort Express in question, that used to throw up the "not set in your firewall to allow AirPlay".
Clicking the firewall preferences button is useless, as it's already been given permission to allow incoming Internet connection, and clicking ignore makes it either crash , stop working or be inactive.
Turning firewall off to allow all connections defeats the point of having a firewall, but used to work most of the time, but doesn't seem to work now.
This coincides with him suddenly not being able to browse the Internet streams through the old iTunes radio button, but the ones that he did safe to his personal playlists play fine and he can enter custom stream URLs fine. So something on apples side must be stopping the use of the old radio button that allows you to browse through various genres of Internet music streams.
For the record there has been no iTunes or operating system updates for 10.4.8 for a couple of years now at the very least. So that is where our situation lies. A solution other than iTunes which no longer allows browsing.
