ITunes 10.3.1 always freezes when I transfer stuff to ipad / iphone

Hi all. I have a problem regarding iTunes 10.3.1, I'm sorry if this has already been asked/solved, but I searched for this and I don't find where it is.
Before 10.3.1 everything was ok, then I updated it and it keeps on freezing when I transfer ebooks (pdf format) to stanza. I thought the problem was stanza, so I downloaded cloud reader but the problem is the same.
I uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it but it's always the same. My iphone (3) & ipad (1) firmware is updated.
I heard of other people with the same problem but I cannot find the solution...

Ok it is syncing now but it is still on "Step 1 of 5 - Backing Up". It has been like this for ten minutes or so I must add.

itunes is not playing (or freezing) when I turn on my Bluetooth speaker (Bose Soundlink Mini)
Every time I turn on the speaker, itunes freezes up and never star playing the only way it might work is restarting the computer. I own a macbook pro retina display 15" late 2013, i've run it for malware, viruses, verified the disk and everything seems normal, so i'm guessing the problem is with itunes.
I need some help with this issue.

Works if I turn off the Mac bluetooth (top of the screen - click on the Bluetooth icon to turn off / on) and then turn it back on. After that I can connect and play.

There's info here on setting up separate libraries and user accounts. You won't have to reload (or re-import) all the music, just copy it.
The reason I suggest separate accounts on the Mac is because if you have the two libraries under the same user account, iTunes will also open the last library that was open in that account, and you'll always have to be mindful of which library that is. If you open iTunes and find it's not your library, you'll have quit, relaunch holding the option key and select the other library.
No, you won't have to log in and out of the Mac. (If I'm understanding your question here.) Multiple accounts can be logged in at the same time. And with fast user switching, you can toggle between user accounts.
I'll admit that maintaining the two libraries gets a little tricky, because if you share all the same music, you'll have to add it to one and update the other. (That won't happen automatically.) But I think Home Sharing makes this much easier to do.

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

Thanks Mario, but I tried everything there before posting my question. I may not have been clear in my question since I accidently recorded the whole question as the title and tried to edit. In brief: I have no trouble connecting with my daughter's iPad or my son's iPhone. However, his iPad is sending much higher resolution pictures and we disconnect after about a minute. Oddly, he can hear and see me while my screen first freezes, then goes black and gives me a message of "reconnecting" until it quits trying and shows the buttons to end or redial. The picture quality difference is what is leading me to believe it is bandwidth related. However, I get anywhere from 5 to 10 MB download speeds; usually closer to 10. Last summer, I had 4 granddaughters on their iPads, a grandson on his gaming device and me on cell phone or pc, all using the bandwidth at once with no complaints. If there is a way to lower his outgoing resolution, I think that would help.

I am so frustrated with my new iPhone 5 that I want to throw it against the wall. I did the turn in your iPhone 4 for an iPhone 5. They said to go to itunes and add your music. Well, I have been trying to do this for the last two days. I tried to call support but I have to pay an additional $49.99 to actually talk to someone. Yes, I do have multiple devices and it appeared to me that every time I tried to sync or log onto iTunes, the password was incorrect. Consequently, I was and am constantly changing it. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would simply say that you only need one Apple ID and one password regardless of the number of Apple devices you intend to sync via iTunes.
Barring the above, how about a way to merge all of the Apple IDs and passwords into one.

Why does my iTunes always freeze when a device is connected?

I am running the latest OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes 12.1.0.50. Every time I try and connect a device to iTunes the colour wheel appears and iTunes freezes. This has happened on an iPhone 5, an iPod Touch and an iPad Mini. This problem only occurred after updating to the Yosemite OS X and iTunes 12. Prior to then everything was working fine. I was hoping the latest updates to both would have sorted out my issue but they didn't.

Help: iTunes and my computer (XP) freeze when trying to synchronize iPod Nano (6G)

My iTunes (10.6) and my computer (running on Windows XP SP3) (near) freezes when I'm trying to synchronize my iPod Nano (6G). iTunes consumes 99% of my computer processor. And the iTunes screen stalls with the text "Synchronize starts". My iPod seems to react in the beginning, it shortly shows "synchronizing", but stops after a few seconds en says "connected" after.
I tried waiting for a long time, maybe it's just slow but that was just disappointing.
I allready changed the drive letter for the iPod in computer/disk management (a suggestion on an another forum). Didn't help.
Also tried resetting the iPod, didn't help.
I always end up killing the iTunes process in TaskManagement or rebooting the computer
I tried updating iTunes to a newer versions (running on 10.6). But that's also not responding. When I select download the newest software just nothing happens.
(I had this before and know how to fix this: run Windows Installer Cleanup en do a complete new install, lots of work).
Problably related problems but keen on suggestions

ITunes 10.6.1 (7) freezes when syncing brand new iPod Classic

In my attempts to sync a brand new iPod Classic (160 GB) with iTunes I only get a freeze up of iTunes, where only a force quit helps to terminate the hang. I have of course done all the usual, i.e. restored the entire iPod Classic, restarted my Mac, made sure all software is the latest software. All to no avail.

Syncing a 160GB iPod Classic, may take a long time, so better to stop all other process or apps, when you do it.
Especially, disconnect all other USB devices and connect the iPod directly to the body of the Mac and not to the Keyboard USB port or any USB hub.
I think you have done all other suggestions, that I can think of.
Except doing a Disk Diagnostic on this new iPod, and send it back to Apple if the DD report is bad, refer to this earlier post by tt2
