Itunes 11.1.2, iOS 7.0.3 - stuck @ waiting for changes to be applied - Its getting on to nerves !!!

All was working fine, until I updated to iOS 7 and connected to itunes. All my music was wiped off my device, god knows what happened. Since 3 weeks I have been failing to sync my music back again, but with vain.
For people whom the troubleshooting steps have worked, have been really lucky. Unfortunately nothing worked for me, spent hours together doing the below steps
1. Re-Install iOS - restore, which took hours to download and install
2. Uninstalled itune 3 times and chose multiple locations to install
3. did a setting reset on the iphone
4. tried syncing playlist by playlist
5. tried installing/uninstalling an app while sync in progress, no luck
6. tried syncing over wi-fi, no luck
7. restart, hard reset, no luck.
This is getting onto my nerves now, APPLE, hope your developers are looking into this, this can never be a fault with the device hardware, this has got to do something with the crappy iOS7 or the itunes 11.1.2
Haven't seen anyone even caring about this topic, where hundreds of people are shouting on the same issue.
Battery back up ***** after OS upgrade. Overheating.
Please do something, before I move out to a Windows Phone.
Many Thanks for all the trouble your new OS and itunes has given to its consumers.
Rgds,
Ravi

Oh, also want to add that the PC I'm currently using is:
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
My other PC was:
Windows 7 Ultimate
My MacBook is:
Max OSX 10.5.something (the last update available for it. .8 maybe? haha)
Not sure if this stuff is important, but I thought I'd add it.

  • Can't sync with new iTunes..whe syncing it stays on step 5 "waiting for changes to be applied"

So I downloaded the new iTunes and iPhone update a couple of days ago since then I have not been able to sync properly.
-Initially it said that my was over storage so I removed about half of my library.  Which was odd because initially it told me i was 158mb over then I deleted about 10 albums and I was still 32mb over.
-After I brought it down to under the storage level...I went to sync it, it would go all of the way through then be stuck on the last step and it would say "waiting for changes to be applied" after 5 minutes of that I would get a message that would pop up that says "The iphone could not be synced because the sync failed".
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've been having the same problem. It would either get stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied" or "Waiting for items to copy". My last successful sync was on 10/15. Tried a number of times either via wifi or direct connect.
Solved it in the following fashion:
Connected the phone to the computer via Lightning cable.
My phone was set to back-up to iCloud. Changed that setting to back up to the computer.
Unchecked the "Sync Music" option under the music tab.
    Hit apply.
After a wait - the back-up completed and all the music was removed from my phone.
Once it was done, re-checked "Sync Music" - it got past "Waiting for Changes to be Applied" at this point.

  • ITunes stays at waiting for changes to be applied when trying to sync music to iPod touch 5G iOS 7

So ya im trying to sync music from my windows 7 pc with the latest versipon of itunes to my iPod touch 5G on iOS 7, but itunes just stays at Waiting for changes to be applied and then stops syncing, without ever syncing anything. HELP XD

I figured it out I think, and I just want to try and confirm my theory. Do you ever sync your iPod with different computers?

  • My iphone 3GS no longer syncs with iTunes. The phone is recognised, backs up but then I get an error message: "Waiting for changes to be applied". BUT unlike other people, it doesn't stay stuck on it, instead the process closes down immediately

    Hi all,
Apologies: I've just joined the community and didn't quite figure how to write a msg! Hope it works...
    Anyway,
I read many posts on this annoying error message (Waiting for changes to be applied) in the last 2/3 days, but they all refer to the sync staying stuck on it.
    Mine doesn't.
I read the message, then it quickly shuts down the sync and the iTunes progress bar only shows the apple...
As suggested by many, I removed voice msgs, turned off/on, tried to sync in individual stages (calendar only...) but nothing works.
I am up to date on iTunes (11.1.1.11) and have IOS 6.1.3 on my phone, to sync on a Win8 pc (all worked fine until recently).
I have had this phone for several years and it has never done this.
It worked absolutely fine, until I loaded the latest version of iTunes it seems...
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.

  • Solution: Syncing with my iTunes library an endless headache: Songs don't transfer, or songs transfer and show up as "other," or I get double copies, or "Over Capacity," or stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied."

iPod Touch 5g, 64GB, iOS 7.1. After my iPod data began showing up "Other," after an abrupt disconnection from iTunes during a sync I've spent the last week trying to fix it only to be thwarted at every attempt.  I've tried resetting and restoring 6 or 7 times now, and all goes well until it gets to copying my library of music over.  What I finally figured out is that 8,000+ songs is too many for iTunes to process all at once for some reason.
After several nights of leaving it connected all night I would find that the songs had physically copied and were occupying the ~45 gb of space on my iPod's storage, but were not showing up on my local library, instead listed as "Other" in iTunes and otherwise unusuable, or they would show up, but I'd have ~45 gigs of "Other," 45 gigs of "Audio," and would be "Over Capacity," by 30 gigs or so.  OR it would be "Waiting for Changes to be Applied," for 12+ hours.
My work around:  In iTunes, under the "Music" / "Sync Music" tab, instead of syncing "Entire Music Library," select "Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres."  You will have to indivually select the playlists, artists, albums, or genres and kept each bulk tansfer to <2000 songs at a time.  The easiest way for me to do this was by selecting one genre at a time and copying it over.  I had already taken the time to organize my library into 10 genres, you probably have more than 10.  This is irritating and time consuming, but it's better than resetting my iPod over and over and over again to no avail.
Waiting for Changes? What iTunes is actually doing when it says it is "Waiting for Changes," or "Waiting for Items to Copy."  iTunes for whatever reason does not reveal the relevent data being processed during a sync (didn't it used to?), but there are a couple ways you can decipher what it is actually up to.  The first option is on the iPod; under Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync it will tell you what it is up to during syncing.  The other way on the iPod; under Music>Songs, scroll all the way to the bottom to see where it is at in the process.  What iTunes, iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, and the bottom of the Songs library report are not always in agreement, but seeing all three will give you a better approximation of where you are in the syncing process and whether or not it is hanging.
This for me was successful as a workaround, but this is not a solution.  Apple needs to fix this crap.  Maybe they just want to make it so difficult to have a physical library of music on the local storage of the iPod that we will just give up and sign up for their Match service.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.

  • ITunes stuck on "Waiting for changes to be applied"

Here are the symptoms I'm seeing:
    - If I restore my phone, or delete/reinstall iTunes, or uncheck "Sync Music", wait for a sync to complete, recheck "Sync Music", ONE sync attempt will complete. I try adding one additional song and re-syncing the device, it gets stuck.
    - If a sync doesn't complete, it gets stuck on "Waiting for items to copy" or "Waiting for changes to be applied". Via fs_usage, it seems like nothing is happening during this phase. I've left it for two hours and it doesn't move on from this phase unless you manually cancel the sync.
    - It's manifested itself on two different phones - an iPhone 4S and a iPhone 6.
    - Each phone has enough space for the items I'm syncing
    - Sometimes iTunes or gets confused and moves the entire music library on my phone into "Other". Recently I had 42GB of "Other" on a 55GB device. See attached screenshot: http://monosnap.com/file/AaDzqWpgtNXtfTYdy8iscfTKrkZGWC
    - The problem has persisted across multiple versions of iTunes (at least versions 11 and 12)
Here are the things I've tried to solve the problem:
    - Restore the device - as mentioned, works one time, further syncs fail
    - Turn my laptop off and on
    - Turn my phone off and on
    - Replace "iTunes Library.xml" by moving it to the Desktop and rebuilding the file (really fun as I lost all playlists, import date info and most played information by doing this)
    - uncheck Sync Music and recheck it - as mentioned above, this works one time, this method is also error prone (takes 3 or 4 canceled syncs before it decides to actually transfer the songs)
    - signed out of Apple Store
    - repair disk permissions
    - repair disk
    - trace iTunes process with fs_usage, will try dtruss next
    - remove the SyncServices/Local directory - didn't do anything
    - remove iTunes and every trace of it I could find (com.apple.itunes and related plist files) and reinstall from the Internet - I got one good sync after this and then it got stuck again.
I would appreciate your help as I'm at wit's end here. If there are any debugging logs or further information I can post, please tell me - I'm a software engineer by trade and have a fairly good idea of how to operate a machine (though not really how to debug a closed-source binary, maybe I should learn how).
    Thanks,
    Kevin

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

  • Itunes sync stuck on waiting for changes to be applied

I recently updated itunes to version 12.0.1.26.  I have an Iphone 5 - with ios 8.1.1.
When I tried to sync my iphone to itunes, it constantly gets stuck on "step 6 of 6 - waiting for changes to be applied"
The only songs I now have access to on my iphone are songs I have downloaded through itunes - none of the music I previously had on my phone from CDs or other sources.  It also made my videos unaccessable.
I am really frustrated as I have spent hours trying to fix this.  Every time I update my itunes I have a different problem.  I have read many other questions with the same issue over the years - but there never seems to be an answer or solution.
    Thanks in advance for help!

I really don't appreciate the fact that no one from Apple seems to be dealing with the many, many threads that have started on this topic since iOS 7 came out. In any event, I seem to have solved my problem with a full software restoration -- that is, iOS software restoration.
I clicked on "Restore iPhone..." which does a complete reinstall of the iOS but also all apps, photos, songs, etc. Took about 45 minutes, but seems to have worked.
I had previously tried reverting to a backup of my iPhone, but that did not solve the problem. Only a full restore solved it.

  • ITunes sync getting stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied" with the latest iTunes 11.4.0.18 and ipad2

Downgraded to ios 7.1.2 after ios 8 disaster. Now iTunes 11.0.4.18 and windows 7 and my ipad2 will not sync. I received an error message that the sync failed to finish. I  have lost all my apps I think but that is another problem. Why won't my pad sync?

Anyone having this same problem? I need my iPad to sync! efclvkjhbsdfvlkj
Yes, my iPhone 5 running ios 7 will not sync in *any* way with itunes now.  I can neither add nor remove content via itunes.  I just tried to delete 100% of my music from my iphone, it hung forever on "Waiting for changes to be applied" and then when it was finally done... no changes had been applied.
I can't add, remove, change, delete or in any way of any kind sync my iphone with itunes any longer.
I'm becoming the person who refuses to update to the new Apple OS.  I used to get very excited about new OS updates.  That all ended around Mountain Lion.  Yesterday when I saw that Mavericks was out I wasn't excited.  Instead I felt a sense of dread, and for good reason.  Every time they release an OS in the last few years it's just a cluster-F.

  • IPhone 4 w/iOS 5 stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied" any solutions?

So far I'm loving iOS 5 on my iPhone 4. Most everything is working great except for the fact that when I sync my phone it gets stuck on the final part of the sync (which was never part of the sync steps in the past) "waiting for changes to be applied." It happens anytime I make the iPhone sync: Transferring purchases, backing up, or making new changes like adding songs or apps.
So far I've just cancelled out of it and it's usually put everything I had synced onto it. But why does it get stuck on this? Has anyone else noticed this on their iOS devices?

I had the same problem. I updated yesterday, and ended up leaving the phone plugged in overnight, only to wake up in the morning and find it still "waiting for changes to be applied." One website suggested doing this inside the phone:
(Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync), and CANCEL/TURN OFF the sync.
I found that for the first sync, or reboot of your iPhone after the iOS 5 and iTunes 5 updates, it's better to do that straight through USB and not over WiFi at all.
I was trying to do it that way, BUT even though I did indicate that on iTunes, the phone was still set to sync over WiFi until I disabled it as described above. My thought is that it was trying to do both, or something like that and could get past it. I hope this helps some of you. After you've done that, it would make sense to sync again straight through USB. Now, my sync takes a minute or two.

  • I can't sync my iPod with iTunes, iTunes says waiting for changes to be applied.

Hi, I've been experiencing problems with my iPod touch 5g, the problem is that when I updated it to iOS 7 some of my songs were deleted, so I went to iTunes and unsync it, but now I can't add the music again, iTunes says waiting for changes to be applied.
I've tried everything restarting the iPod, restating my mac, restore the iPod to the factory settings, everything and none of them worked

  • Itunes stuck at "waiting for changes to be applied" after ios5 download.

I downloaded and installed ios5 to my iphone 4 successfully.  Then I went through all the apps on my phone and there were more than 50% apps missing.  Then I went back into iTunes and realized that they were there to dl again, which I did.  Now I'm stuck at syncing my phone with iTunes with all the re-downloaded apps.  I'm stuck at the message that says "Waiting for changes to be applied".  I've already ejected my iPhone once to restart, but same message from iTunes.  It has already been 8 hours being stuck at the same message from iTunes.  What should I do?  Any suggestions?

WAS having this trouble with Itouch3 and 5.1.1 I tried restoring from backups and as a new device, both locked up. Regardless of whether you want to restore as new device or backup, go through the process (the fastest way is to use the IOS you downloaded already by holding shift and left mouse button on Restore button on Itunes device summary page in (windows) and selecting the latest IOS from [C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates] 'admin' is the user that installed itunes, confirm restore. When itunes gets done wiping, reloading the IOS and is asking if you want to use New Device or Restore from backup, that's where you pick up the device and run through all the questions it has regarding logging into wifi, tou, using icloud (I chose no on cloud) and logging into apple with your itunes account. When all the questions are answered and your device is on it's home page looking like it's done, hit home twice to bring up running apps, settings is probably there, hit the red x on it, home button to get back to home page, repeat to make sure apps are shut down, NOW you are ready to proceed with itunes. Now you can choose restore as new or use backup from computer. I think the trouble is that now you can supposedly restore your iwhatever from the cloud with no computer, on the touch it seems to set device to do just that and it conflicts with the itunes restoration. This place should be able to send me email if there is something that didn't make sense. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem and the fix was so easy that I felt a little silly after spending 2 hours with an Apple Technician.  At the end of it all, what I had to do was make sure ALL music was deleted from my iPhone 5 by going into usage and clearing out the music folder.  All I had to do then was turn my phone off and turn it back on again.  I had not done this after my phone upgraded to the new 7.0 IOS.   What's the first thing you do when experiencing computer problems?  Reboot!   It fixed my problem and now my iPhone 5 synchs perfectly when I had it connected to my computer.  I am also on iTunes version 11.1.
