  • The registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing

I recently installed a programme to convert audio from a cassette player to digital and I found that my CD/DVD drive was missing. I deleted the offending programme and followed a "fix" by deleting the upper and lower filters as specified in the fix. My CD/DVD drive reappeared but now when I open iTunes I get the message “the registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing” even though I am able to import tracks from a CD to iTunes. I haven't tried burning a CD yet but then I hardly ever do. I don't appear to have the problem but the message insists that I do!
I have removed iTunes and all associated files and folders from my computer and reinstalled iTunes three times but the message still appears every time I open iTunes. I use Vista. Can you help?
    Many thanks.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Itunes driver's registry settings for burning CDs/DVDs are missing,

are generic and do not address the problem I've described in numerous posts - I have read and implemented these suggestions with out success. When launched, itunes complains that "the registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs are missing" is missing CD drivers. When I acknowledge the problem and try to burn CDs from itunes the error message "disk recording is not found" is received.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

    1. Installed of the latest gear drivers
    2. Upgraded burner firmware
    3. Reloaded/repaired itunes on numerous occasions
    4. Using latest latest Nero software from an Admin account and launched program to ensure Nero Burner rights are installed.

  • "registry settings for importing and burning are missing..."

I have installed itunes and the appropriate quicktime, but am not able to import any music. When I put cds in the drive, they do not even show up. I'm not sure if there is some other program blocking this importing or showing up of cds, but I get a message that says,
"the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall Itunes."
However, the reinstalling doesn't fix it, and I'm not sure what to change or fix about the other cd player/burners on my computer to make itunes work properly (the laptop is new, and came with windows media, jukebox, etc...). How do I make itunes the default cd burner? Or how do I fix this problem otherwise?
    Thanks.

  • I recently updated to the latest version of iTunes and now get a message saying 'Registry settings for iTune drivers are misng for Cd burning' I have uninstallled and reinstalled iTunes and tried everything to repair the problem but still have no optical

I am using OS  64 bit Windows Vista Home Premium and recently updated the latest version of iTunes. (I only have this CD burning software on my Laptop). Ever since updating, I  received the message 'Registry settings for the iTune drivers are missing for CD burning'. The drivers for Lower and uppper filters in the registry are missingand I now have no optical drive.  I have unistalled and  reinstalled Itunes and manually entered the filters. Have tried everything including something called GEAR driver installer which was suggested on several technical sites. Everything  was working fine in iTunes until I updated it.. It's strange I can still import music but not burn?? Friend s have told me they have ha dthe same problem when updating iTunes but resolved the problem by uninstalling/reinstalling or altering registry keys.
Today I went to use my Epson Printer and now have problems with it not working. I decided to uninstall/ install printer software and  still can't get it to work either. I may be wrong but his all seems connected to me?

This is a copy of ONEof the keys  in the registry I changed  as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR  software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others  they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so  I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image  and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content  is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr  SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

  • I received the following message when iTunes launches: "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's or DVD's are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning softwarre.  Please reinstall iTunes"

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes"  I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue.  I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes.  I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either.  I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet.  Would that perhaps fix the problem?  I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue.  I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop.  Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using  Homegroup.  I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.
    Thanks in advance.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

  • Registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  Please reinstall itunes.

Yes, it's the "Registry settings used by iTunes ...." issue which has been a problem going back at least to 2009, according to the posts here.  You would think that Apple would make an effort to solve this, but apparently it's not of concern to them.  Style - yes; function - no.  Sigh.
In any case, I've read many of the ~200 threads and have, without success ....
       * Reloaded iTunes
       * Deleted iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support
       * Verified that iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled
       * Installed Gear drivers
System: Windows 7, 64-bit, 8GB RAM, all programs/updates/drivers current.  Toshiba/Samsung CD player (current drivers).
Occasionally in this process iTunes has behaved properly when a CD is loaded, but then it reverts to dysfunction.  Most frustratingly, the error message appeared immediately after that deleted/verified song and dance described above and recommended by Apple.
I have not gotten into messing with my registry because, well, if that's the level of user involvement required here then the program is truly broken.  When I owned a 1959 Triumph I often had to tinker with the carbuerator, adjust the timing and use an ether starter spray, but automobiles seem to have progressed since then.  I thought that Apple products "just worked."  No.  I've used Macs in the past and though  I'm not a Windows fanboi, my work requires it and I've found Win 7 remarkably stable over the past 3 years.  I've NEVER had an issue like this with any program (and I've installed/deleted/used many dozens).
Is this a fixable problem or should I just dump iTunes for something else that actually works?  Opinions and suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
