ITunes 11 error -42408

hi
I downloaded iTunes 11 version and installed it. After that, each time you start itunes pops error -42408.
iTunes shows that it is version 10.7 (21)

I solved the problem. On the computer was 2 copies of itunes. One is in the program (11 version). And the second (10.7 version) reside in the utility.
All labels were on the old version which clashed with the new. After removing the old version, everything is okey.

  • ITunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

I had the same problem. Check the version of iTunes via the About dialog. Mine said 9.0.2 despite having upgraded via system updates, itunes and even downloading the whole package again.
Turns out, the dock iTunes link is running the old one. Basically, remove it from the dock, and re-drag the itunes from the applications folder back onto the dock. This then started 9.0.3 for me, and my iTunes account worked, the itunes store worked and iphone sync worked as well. Phew.

  • Itunes error -42408

Alright weird issue....When I start iTunes I get the above error message.  When I connect my iPod I get a message that says it cannot read the contents of my iTouch.... Not sure if this error message is related.  I can close iTunes and reopen and things are fine...Anyone have any ideas?  Also my battery is to the point where I cannot even listen to it in my car without the battery draining to less than 10 percent.  It's a 4th generation touch so the option of buying a new one is not on the tabel.  Do those companies that promise battery replacement worth looking into?
    Thanks for the feedback

The 42408 is generally an iTunes issue, rather than an iPod issue.
Given that you've got a workaround here (quitting and restarting iTunes), are you sure you want to proceed with troubleshooting further? (There is at least one thing we can try, but I generally suggest it in cases where there's no functional workaround on the PC for the 42408.)

  • ITunes Error 42408 tide to java?

With Apple getting hit by hacker through java I shut down my java in Safari preferences. The next time I open iTunes I got the 42408 error. thinking to only thing that change to my system was the shutting off java, I turned it back on. Open iTunes again and no error. Washed, Rinse and Repete, the same thing happened!

    Hi OldFart,
See this thread which discusses the same issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20470011#20470011
If you restored your library from a backup done with iTunes 11, then that may be your issue. Do you have a backup that was done with iTunes 10?

  • Itunes 10.6 - will not sync purchased apps - error -42408

I upgraded the IPAD to the new OS and upgraded Itunes on my windows business vista PC to 10.6 - the restore and sync of the IPAD fails telling me that my computer is not authorized to use the apps - I am unable to authorize it (recieve the -42408 error)  - i've seen references to an itunes 9 issue but the fixes listed there dont seem to work - any ideas?

Try taking a look at this Apple article -> iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    "Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
    Remove the SC Info folder.
If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

Ive recently downloaded the new itunes version 10.5, but now when i plug my iphone into my pc (Vista) i get error 42408 and messages saying that my mobile hasnt been started by my network provider, also requesting that I need to set my iphone back to factory settings, but i cant back up what i already have on my phone as i cant access iTunes, therefore i would loose everything! =(  ITunes dosent even launch on my pc once my iphone is connected like it used to.   I am the most untechnical person in the world, can someone please help me or give me some advise, as simple as possible =)    My iphone is also requesting that i need to update my phone to the new iOS 5, again cant do this as i cant access itunes, finding this really frustrating, any help would be most appreciated, thanks in advance

    Hello, Julie.
Thank you for the question.  As the device is registered to the Apple ID, you would simply need to make sure the name is correct on https://appleid.apple.com/.  If the name of the device itself is incorrect and you wish to change it, see the article below.

  • Error 42408 with Itunes 10.4?

Has anyone else received Error 42408 with Itunes 10.4.8?  If so, is there an easy, straightforward way to fix it?  All the answers I have found online so far sound very confusing.  I cannot connect to the store, or synch my Ipod Touch.  I noticed it was a common error for Itunes 9.0.3, but I just updated my Itunes a couple of days ago, and didn't have any problems before that.

    Hello cjgzrh,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
You may want to deauthorize all and then authorize the devices again.

  • How to solve an error 42408 in Itunes (i want to keep an older version 10 because better interface )

I did not like versions of ITunes after the 10.
I try to reinstall a version 10 after the 11.
ITunes 10 is now working well but i cannot anymore use Genius, and have a report of error 42408 that block the setup of Genius.
Do you have a solution for this (other than upgrading Itunes, obviously !).
    Thanks for your support.

OK, my starting point is that LR can happily contain 400000+ photos, and it's a mistake to create a 1 star plus catalogue as you suggest. Instead, I'd recommend you create a master catalogue of all your photos, which you can then query however you want - 2 star, or a certain keyword, or with "xyz" in the title etc.
If you are intent on going that way, you could try a slight change from what you've done so far. Instead of trying to import an entire catalogue and then delete no-star pictures, take the 2014 and 2012 catalogues and select only the 1 star photos. Then do an Export as Catalog for these items, and import the 2014-1star and 2012-1star into your new catalogue. That may get you past the problem images which I suspect are the problem.
If that doesn't work, or if you follow my initial advice, you're going to need to identify the image where the failure occurs. You may have a corrupt image file, and replacing it from your backup may be sufficient to resolve the problem. Alternatively, it may be a corrupt record in the catalogue, and in this case it may be sufficient to remove the image from the catalogue and import it again. You might try selecting everything in the 2014 catalogue and seeing if you can do an Export as Catalog, creating a clean 2014, and deleting 2014's previews folder might also get rid of a potential problem. Something else is to try the Export as Catalog for images 1-40000, then a second Export as Catalog for images 40002-50k.
So a few things you'll need to try, rather than a magic bullet, and a recommendation to change the underlying direction.
    John
