ITunes 11 keeps launching in a small window?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Ever since updating to iTunes 11, it seems to open/launch in a small minimized window, sized down to just the center of the screen. That means there are scroll bars for both the sidebar and song list. It's rather ANNOYING that I have drag the corners out to size it back up to my preferred width/height EVERY time I restart the PC or exit/reopen iTunes. I don't want to simply "maximize" the window as I do lots of drag/dropping throughout the day. Even so, I shouldn't have to maximize every time - it should remember this, right? Just like iTunes always did before?
This was NEVER an issue when using previous versions of iTunes, both on Mac and PC. So is there any fix to this so I don't have to keep enlarging my iTunes window back to where I want it on the screen EVERY time I open?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then uninstall them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

    Yeah

OK, so i cannot enter into iTunes safe mode, whilst monitoring proccesses in the task manager I noticed that itunes will only stay open if i keep my fingers on shift and control-i dont know if that is worth mentioning- the proccess promptly ends after the release of the said keys, (I tried both the shift control keys on either side of the keyboard-same result) so i am stuck there.
    P.S.
This version of iTunes had previously worked before, I uninstalled everything apple related after noticing how many processes (-id est-) /applications, were using up my memory.
afterwards I had need for iTunes, (i needed to wipe my iDevice) I reinstalled and this problem has arisen.

iTunes helper launches OK, but not iTunes itself. Am I being dim?
    Thanks

The iTunes application should be installed on the system drive. You may need to repair iTunes to fix that error regarding a missing .exe.

  • TS1717 Since the upgrade to version 11 ITunes will not launch I'm running Windows 7

Since upgrading to version 11 ITunes will not launch I have removed and reloaded again but it still will not launch.

  • Itunes won't launch says I need windows 2000 or higher: I have XP

When I upgraded to Itunes 7 it installed, but when I try to launch I get a message saying I need Windows 2000 or higher to run quicktime. I have Windows XP.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Itunes and Quicktime twice now, and I still get the same message.
Since I have a newer operating system than 2000 I am at a loss.

is that message mentioning "compatibility settings"? if so, try the following document:

  • ITunes 10 keeps launching, can't quit

Since I upgraded to version 10, I've had 2 days where iTunes launches on it's own and no matter how many times I Quit, it keeps re-launching automatically.
Today, it was when we visited a Flash site: http://www.howtotrainyourdragon.com/ and on the other day, it may have been another Flash site too, but I'm not totally sure. It only happens when I'm on the internet...

I am having this same issue. It isn't repeated, the second try does get it to Quit successfully, but it is annoying as it prevents all system shutdown/restarts/sleep, etc.
First started with iTunes 10, and now persisting through 10.1 or whatever the current version is.
The only kind of control app I use with iTunes is Coversutra, nothing else, no widget or anything. I tried running iTunes and quitting Coversutra, and it still happened. Though I suppose there could be some Coversutra daemon running in the background. Nevertheless why is this an issue now? I don't want to resort to not using Coversutra.

  • ITunes no longer launches when IPhone connected - Windows PC

whenever i connect my iPhone to my PC, iTunes never launches.

    Hi,
If you manually open iTunes, is the iphone found and listed under Devices?
If it doesn't show up at all, it could be that the iphone driver has corrupted.
    It's been a while since I have a look in an XP machine but from memory;
With the phone plugged in, goto Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Hardware
You should find two apple drivers I think under Portable Devices -
Apple iPhone: which is the driver for connecting to iTunes and
Apple Mobile Device USB Driver: this connects the camera
Does the 1st driver have an yellow exclamation indicating that it is not installed correctly? If it does, delete it and then search from new devices again and the phone should be found again and reinstalled.
If this doesn't work, it probably quickest to uninstall iTunes and re-install it following this method

    Hope this helps

  • My iTunes Genius keeps shuffling songs on my windows 7 pc

Every time I try to pick one of the mixes on my iTunes G
enius it freezes up and starts randomly shuffling through available options what gives ?

I see skipping too in iTunes Radio on my 2nd-gen iPad mini running iOS 7.1.1.
Sometimes, it'll play music for a while just fine. Sometimes it starts skipping a number of songs, but then eventually plays one. Sometimes it just keeps on skipping - and apparently does something really bad because the iPad will eventually reboot after a minute or two.
I also have the iHeart Radio app on my iPad. And the weird thing is that when iTunes Radio does its skipping thing, then I switch over to IHR and it also does the same skipping thing.
How does that even make sense? IHR and Apple do not share credentials. They're completely separate ecosystems. This implies to me that the problem is within the iPad (or iOS) directly.
I've tried the following without success:
Hitting the play/pause button - makes no difference, the app keeps searching/skipping
Hitting the home button (simply backgrounding iTunes)
Using the app switcher to kill iTunes and then restart it
Switch to the iHeart Radio app
Shutting off and restarting the iPad (hold sleep button on top, then slide to power off) - not much point since sometimes the problem is so bad, the iPad reboots all by itself.
Logging out of my iTunes account (Settings > iTunes & App Store > click on my Apple ID > Sign Out) and then re-entering my credentials to sign in again
This problem is hard to reproduce on demand - as I described above, it often works fine.
I have not seen this problem occur at all on my iPhone 5s (iOS 7.1.1) that is setup with the same Apple ID.

  • Itunes 10 keeps launching whenever i press the "play/pause" button

since upgraded to snow leopard (amongst other painful problems) i noticed that itunes10 wants to launch every time i press the play/pause button on the keyboard.
this is very annoying. eg, i am listening to music on spotify and then want to pause the music - press pause - and then itunes launches and starts playing music. that's not what i want and is a design flaw.
any ideas how to prevent this from happening?
    thanks!

Apple have put a key on the keyboard called Play / Pause it is specifically designed to operate iTunes, the same goes for the forward and reverse buttons as well.
Therefore it make sense that if someone presses the Play / Pause button that they want to operate iTunes. If iTunes is not running then it starts iTunes for you.
I use the feature a lot as it is quicker than starting iTunes via the mouse.
The software can't tell if you have accidentally pressed the button or not, just as it can't tell if you have pressed the Expose or Dashboard buttons which also take action when you press them. All I can suggest is that you type a little more carefully, especially as you know that the button with start iTunes.

So, what is the fix for that Itunes problem? Thanks for help. vpanov

Try copying the QTMovieWin.dll in the  c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support folder to the c:\program files (x86)\iTunes folder. I had same problem and it's fixed this bug.

Itunes does not launch after updating to Windows 8.1.  I've tried every suggestion I can find on web (reinstall, copy files from other directories, change permissions, etc.).  Nothing works.  At best I can get the licensing agreement to show and then nothing.  Has anyone heard if a fix is in the works?

click plus sign, on the new window, click macintosh HD
do a Control + A then deselect users then click okay
go to options again, plus sign, go to users, control +A then deselect your user account
go to options again, plus sign, go to your user account, control + A, deselect desktop
    start the back up.

When I open iTunes on my Macbook Pro, I am now getting a small window that says "Checking iTunes Library" with a pinwheel. This goes on for 5-10 minutes before I am able to access iTunes. Help! How do I fix this?

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.
No answers here, but you are definitely not alone with this issue.

  • New Mac - ITunes keeps launching

I have just taken delivery of a new MacPro and for some reason some something is launching iTunes.
I am not launching it manually and it is not happening at start-up but after a short session of browsing with Safari (no multi-media involved) I am being asked to agree to the iTunes agreement. Of course I do not want to. iTunes is not much use to myself. I click on Decline only for the box to return! The only way to break the cycle is to force quit iTunes.
    1. Is there something in OS X that is dependent on iTunes?
    2. Is there a way to stop this iTunes agreement window, especially if I decline to agree.
    Thanks.
    Latets Information.
System Preferences seems to have locked itself open. I was examining the keyboard setup. Could this launch iTunes? The current situation is that even Force Quit does not work! The list of running apps does not appear! I do not want to agree to iTunes. I cannot Decline. I cannot Force Quit!
    Suggestions appreciated!

Replying my own Question ... .it is the f8 key. The b*y thing keeps launching iTunes and I cannot seem to stop it!
this seems like a bug to me. If there is no media app loaded then why would I want that key to load one? Where is the Spaces key ... that is what is useful not more media frippery.
How can I disable the MM functions of these keys?
System Preferences does not seem to be working correctly. It is still talking about other keyboards where the dashboard is on F12 etc. This bears no relationship to my hardware. neither, as far as I can see is there any mention of iTunes, nor mention of shortcuts in the iTunes preferences.
    Suggestions welcome!

  • Why does iTunes keep launching?

All of a sudden, out of the blue, iTunes keeps launching when an alarm goes off in the application Alarm Clock Pro (ACP).  My wife is a teacher and ever since August 2011 I created alarms to notify her five minutes before the end of her classes.  She doesn't know how to change anything in ACP and she doesn't use iTunes.  Nothing has been changed but last week every time an alarm goes off iTunes launches.
I've gone through and checked the preferences in both programs and nothing points to this issue.  I know, ACP has an option to launch and play something in iTunes but this is NOT selected.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Merry CHRISTmas,
    Nathan

I thought at one time you there was a setting to prevent iTunes opening when a device was plugged in, I don't believe that the sync option will prevent that.
In your login items, System Preferences/Users and Groups do you have an item "iTunes Helper" I think this is the application monitoring the devices you plugin.
You could try closing that application in Activity Monitor and plugging your devices in and checking if it stop iTunes opening, also check if it stops it opening through the day. If it does just remove it from your login items after confirming it does not impact on other iTunes uses.
