ITunes 12 for iMac won't recognize any devices

Just upgraded to iTunes 12.  Now none of my device (iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPad, iPod) are recognized.  All. Connections are good, never had an issue before.  Tried uninstallIngrid but iMac won't let me delete iTunes to reinstall.  All settings are good and have tried powering off and on.

Hello Anlumsdaine,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.l
In iTunes 12, the location to where you would see your iOS devices connected has changed.  Take a look at the picture below on where you can locate your devices.  If you still do not see your devices when connected, follow the article linked to at the bottom of this message.

  • IMac won't recognize midi device

IMac won't recognize midi device (Roland Fantom) which is connected via USB only; no midi interface. I have rebooted both the Roland and the iMac, still no go. I have manually added the midi device under Audio Midi setup, still none of my apps will recognize the device; Logic Pro, ProTools and Sibelius. How do I get this configured? I've read through some other posts and nothing has worked.

Its standard for all computers - if you have 3rd party things that do not work - contact that company - they may have a driver for you to download specific for mac.
Some 3rd party things are windows only - probably same for Mac.

  • ITunes for PC won't recognize iPad

Running Vista Home Premium 32 bit.  No version of iTunes (version 10, 11, or even the one just released) will recognize iPad1.  AMDS service says Starting but never completes. Get an AMDS AppCrash message on Fault Module Name rpcrt4.dll.  It used to work on an early version of iTunes, but something has changed on the computer or the Apple software.
Does anyone know what to look for to resolve this issue?
Device Manager shows both Apple Pad and Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under Portable Devices.
Just in case a registry cleaner program deleted a needed entry, does anyone know if there are any specific Registry entries that must be present for AMDS service to start completely? How about required services? AMDS service is the only service that won't work. There are no other problems with the PC.
    Can anyone help?

Does anyone know of anything I can try? Can anyone answer any of my questions above?

  • Itunes for mac won't recognize ipod but iTunes on parallels will

Just upgraded itunes to 10.5 and purchased a new ipod classic (160gb). All my music is on my old macbook, but itunes won't recognize that the ipod is attached. Finder will, but iTunes won't. However, when I run iTunes in parallels desktop on the same mac, it recognizes the iPod and asks to sync. How do I get the mac itunes to recognize the ipod?

Sorry for the late response. I realised my notifications are off. I've tried that. All my software is up to date, setting for wifi sync are all checked off. I spent 1 hour on the phone with Apple with no results. Most threads are about Windows PC. I run a a MacBook. Variables could be my Linksys router but i/ve played with the firewall settings and nothing. I have a range extender but all devices are using the same network. Any final ideas?

  • I had my IPod rebooted at a store.  My 9yr old put a password on it and had to set it back to factory settings.  Now can't get it to open beyond the screen with the white apple.  I've tried to sync with Itunes, the it won't recognize the device.  HELP!

Apple store reset my Ipod to factory setting, now can get Itunes to recognize the device.  The I Pod won't turn on past the first screen with the pic of the apple on it.

    Try the following:
    - A reset and then connect to your computer and try to restore.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - See if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
    - The see if DFU mode will allow a restore.

    - If you can't turn the iPod full off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least a hour try the above again
    - If still not successful time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • ITunes 7.5 won't recognize any ipods

Since iTunes updated to 7.5, it will not recognize any of my iPods. Not the classic, not the nano. Connecting with USB, and I don't have a firewire cable to try.
Error message is +"An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again.+
I am posting here because I believe it to be an iTunes problem, not iPod. I see some have had this error in the iPod forums as well. I connected the classic to a windows machine, restored to factory settings, and then tried again, with no luck.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
I looked for drivers and I get the same error whether ipoddriver.kext is deleted or not. Same with the itunesiphonedriver.kext.
Help? I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the itunes update, but do not know how to go back to an earlier version.

I would delete the preference file. That should work. To do that, quit iTunes and go to User Name>Library>Preferences. Locate the com.apple.itunes. Delete this file. And empty the trash. Open iTunes. iTunes will act like that this is the first time you open iTunes and ask you a bunch of questions. Don't worry as your music, playlist, play count are all intact.

  • BDM for Mac won't recognize any Blackberry

As the title says, BDM fails to recognize any Blackberry, I've tried with a Curve 8900 and a Bold 9000. Both ask to if I wan't to mount the media card when I plug them to the computer. BDM for Windows does recognize them when running Windows with VMWare Fusion 2.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling BDM for Mac, deleting all related files and restarting but nothing new has happened.
    Can anyone help fixing this?
    System:
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    Macbook 13"
2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB of RAM

Yeah I have had my 250 for about a year and a half with zero problems (both with Leopard and Snow Leopard). The weird thing is that it wouldn't work on either my MB Pro (which it has always worked) or my parents iMac. I plugged his 260 (a newer and better model) into both computers and still nothing. The only thing that stayed the same was the cable but I don't know how that could break.
The GPSs both show the computer hookup connection but neither macs recognize the units.

  • ITunes AND iMac won't recognize

Hello all! I just recently got an iMac (10.4.11 but will be upgrading very shortly to 10.6). I have an iPad, iPhone, and iPod, but this is my first Mac computer (I have always been a Windows guy......no need to comment on that). I am trying to plug my iPhone into the computer and it is not recognizing it at all. Same goes with the iPad. I am running iTunes 9.2 right now (can't upgrade to iTunes 10 until I upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6). I have tried 4 different USB cables, ALL the USB slots, both on the computer and keyboard. Nothing seems to work. It won't even charge the device (I know it won't for the iPad). I hope that this is a software issue, ie. not using 10.6. Any help would be appreciated.

    Via "About this Mac":
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac4,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1

    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM41.0055.B08
    SMC Version: 1.1f5
I assume it is a decent Mac (My university upgraded a lot of the Macs on campus and were giving these away for free).
I ran the Repair Permissions, and that did not work. I looked at the USBs and one of them was showing iPhone. So it does see that it is there. I will be upgrading to 10.6 here in an hour or so.

  • My USB ports won't recognize any devices. Thoughts?

I am still using Mountain Lion, and I have been warned about updating. My USB ports will not recognize or connect to any external devices. Any thoughts?

Try resetting the SMC. Use the procedure for "a battery you should not remove yourself".

  • I purchased an album of ringtones on iTunes yet it won't recognize any?

I purchased an album of ringtones on iTunes. They only show up in my library and can play them as songs but not as ringtones. Can anybody help? I'm a little ticked off at how I spent $11 bucks on album and cant do anything!

You still have to create the ringtones. Yes, even though you thought you were buying ready made ringtones.
There are several ways to do this. Google will find them.
I prefer Garageband. It is quick and simple.

See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

My ipod is stuck on restore/ recovery mode, and iTunes won't recognize the device. The computer makes the beep noise saying that somethin is plugged in but itunes won't pick it up. It is iTunes 11.1.1 and i have a 5th generation Ipod touch. Any Help? Thanks (:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1449 I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices

I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices. Help please

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer to your new one.
The Apple store will do this for you,  you can call apple support and they will help you, you can use google.

  • I'm trying to burn photos onto a CD from Finder, but my iMac won't recognize either a CD-R or a DVD-R.

I'm trying to burn photos onto a CD from Finder, but my iMac won't recognize either a CD-R or a DVD-R.  Any clues?  Nothing shows up in Finder as far as a Device, and I have a message telling me to "Insert a blank disc to begin" and that I will need a disc with at least "47.6 MB"--it's only 18 photos, and I need to burn them for a parent of a student (I'm a teacher).  I have tried several different discs, so it's not the actual CD or DVD.

Create a new folder. Place the photos in that.
From the Finder File menu choose New Burn Folder. That will appear on your desktop. Place the folder of photos  you created into that.
Now open Disk Utility and you will see that Burn Folder listed. Choose Burn from the menu.
