Itunes 7.5 upgrade: possible on system 10.4.3?
Hi all,
I just tried buying tunes from the itunes shop (something I have done for a couple of years now), the track stated I needed to upgrade to the next version of itunes (7.5), so I went to the mac site, downloaded it, read the operating requirements which state:
"Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later or Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later required for iTunes"
So, I downloaded and then installed the software...Then when I opened it for the first time it states that to run iTunes I need to upgrade my whole operating system to 10.4.7 or higher...(refere to the statement on the apple site, it says 10.3.9 or higher. Ans as I am already on 10.4.3 then I should be fine.
I am now in a situation where I cannot upgrade the operating system as other software is know not to run on higher versions and I no longer have itunes at all!
I have the original itunes which was running on the iLife 06 discs, but these will not allow an installation of iTunes as the system recognises that a newer version is already present on the hard drive.
Phew, Thanks to anyone who has read this much...any ieas on a solution??
If you have an external disc, create a new partition and install 10.4.3 on that along with the "offending" software.
Update your internal drive to 10.4.11.
You can boot off the external when you need to run that specific software.
What are you running that needs 10.4.3?

As long as you don't need all the bells and whistles of the iTunes Store such as Ping, and don't need to sync an iOS device running iOS 4.x, then iTunes 9.2.1 should work for you. It should be available via Software Update, but if not, you can still get it here:

but it would be best to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, since it's probable that eventually the iTunes Store will no longer support iTunes 9.x.

System optimization freezes during Itunes 7.6 upgrading
Hi, the last step (system optimization) freezes during the Itunes/Quicktime/Imovie upgrading.

What numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (such as, for example ati3duag.dll), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

I have a MacPro without the updated IOS 7, just purchased an iPod Touch with IOS7, will I be able to download my old iTunes library without upgrading my MacPro? I have to keep my computer on old system due to investigation of white collar hacker/frenemy.

While having a perfectly running iTunes and all programs associated, I was notified of the iTunes 10.4 upgrade. After following typical directions, I have had nothing but trouble. First “iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 5)” occurred. Following directions found at https://discussions.apple.com/message/15087646#15087646, I now get the following “iTunes.exe - System Error The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is still missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”, Along with “iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. My daughter just arrived in her International Student residence in Europe yesterday, where internet's only available by Ethernet. She wishes to reverse-tether, from her PowerBook to her Iphone (because of the cost of using Internet on her phone over there). I found some instructions about Internet Sharing, in System Prefs, etc. "From: Ethernet, To: Airport" Enable Internet Sharing, and all...She did everything, by the book (or so, she thinks) but nothing shows on her Iphone Wi-Fi Settings when she tries to connect... I also read that it could be done with a Bluetooth PAN, but I got lost, as I tried to follow the instructions here at home, after pairing computer and Phone, with a "rude" message appearing on my phone telling me to "forget that device". Can you help?

IPod not recognised by Powerbook after iTunes 7.5 upgrade
I have just upgraded to iTunes 7.5, and am running OSX 10.3.9.
My iPod Nano (last generation), since the iTunes upgrade, is no longer recognised by my Powerbook, let alone iTunes.
Could this be due to the iTunes 7.5 upgrade? Can anyone recommend what to do?

Second, have you tried testing the iPod in a new user (if you don't already have another os x account, create one). If it works in the new user, you know there's something funky going on in your account. If it doesn't, it's something system-wide. Try that and let us know what happens. -
I have Windows 8 pro on my computer . I un-installed itunes on my computer to re-install itunes 7.1.1 Now the system will not allow the re-install. Can anyone help?
I have an HP Officejet Pro 7580 similar to the 8600 you have and after upgrading to Mountain Lion it wouldn't work. HP support site said download updates for Mountain Lion from App Store not their site so I went to software update but there were NO UPDATES FOR 10.8. Tried a million things and could not get printer to work. So I restored back to Lion figuring at least printer worked then only now I can't get it to work with old settings either. I am sick to death of claims by Apple and peripheral manufacturers that everything is compatible all you have to do is get updates well in this case THERE ARE NONE TO BE GOT and I don't have time to **** about trying to find 'work arounds'. There shouldnt be a need for work-arounds. Unless the updates are ready DONT release the new OS. You shouldn't have to be an IT tech to make basic things like printing work. I see also the HP 8600 is even sold by appstore so there is no reason why it shouldn't work with minimum fuss.

Hi Andy, yes it's a paid Upgrade...
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
