ITunes 8 (WIndows) remote speaker problem: plays only (very) intermittently

Running iTunes 8.1.0.52, Windows XP, on an HP 2230s laptop (2.53 GHz Core2Duo). I can play audio through the computer's speakers, no problem. When I connect to my remote speakers (via Airport Express), audio plays for only a moment or two, then stops (for many seconds), then plays for a moment, then stops, and so forth.
(Using diagnostics I can see that both the network and the PC are running way below capacity during this faulty playback, so I'm confident that there is plenty of network and machine bandwidth available.)
I can drive those speakers, via Airport Express, from my wife's MacBook Pro flawlessly, so I'm confident that the network, the airport, and the speakers are fine.
I note that "hallfleming" posted a similar problem back in October 2008 (below) - no one responded then. I'm hoping that someone responds this time with some good advice!!!
TIA
Doug
iTunes 8 plays remote speakers for a few seconds than stops
Posted: Oct 17, 2008 2:55 PM
With 8 and 8.01, my remote speakers show up, I can start the stream, than several seconds later it stops. If I leave it alone, It try's to play after 30 seconds or a minute, then does the same thing.
Any ideas? It worked great before version 8. I'm running windows Xp media center.
Thanks!

Try restarting the Bonjour Service. Go to Start/ Control Panel/ Administrative Tools/ Services. Select the Bonjour Service and click Restart Service. Then re-launch iTunes. The remote speakers drop-down should reappear. I have to do this everytime I login/logout of my company's VPN.

Two weeks ago Purchasing 60 songs from iTune store. So Two of them play only half of song and then jumping to another songs. What is could be?Looks like is not been downloaded full. Can i get this two songs to play correct? Many thanks Aleksejs!!!

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Itunes - airport express - remote speaker not compatible?

Airport Express unit (AX) connects to my network and verified to be connected to the network just fine...but on itunes (v. 7.4.2.4) on my desktop (Dell Dim E510 with wireless, Windows XP, Linksys router WRT350N with AX for airtunes)...when I switch speaker to the AX/stereo unit, comes back with message - "the remote speaker xxx is not compatible with this version of itunes"... I've battled this issue for a long time -- any idea what is the problem?

OK I got it working again. I'm not sure exactly what did the trick, but I'd recommend the following:
    1. Repair your wireless modem connection via your taskbar (rick-click on the Wireless Network Connection, Repair)
    2. Start itunes while the Airport Express Setup Assistant is running
    3. Restart your computer
    4. Keep trying, after 2 days it's working again (???)

  • AirTunes Remote Speaker Problem

Since updating iTunes to version 7.1 [and then 7.1.1] I've been unable to connect to my Airport Express remote speaker via iTunes. The speaker show up on the list but states that: "The Remote speaker ___ is not compatible with this version of iTunes."
Both iTunes and the Airport Express firmware are up to date so I don't know what could be causing such a problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • The most current Itunes on Windows 7 has trouble playing movies redownloaded from the web.

My movies video pauses while the audio continues.  After a small length of time the video fast forwards till it catches up with the audio.  I also have a line like the old VHS cross once in a while.  Anyone familiar with this?

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. It may pay to uninstalll all Apple components and delete the folders set out in the second box before reinstalling. In principle you ought not need to reinstall QuickTime.

  • Media Player Problem playing only one song at a time

Recently acquired a BB Curve 8330 (OS 4.5.0.127) running on a Bell Enterprise server.  I bought a SanDisk 16G Media Card.  The card is formatted, the songs are there (about 20 albums)  I can view, scroll, choose shuffle, choose an album, choose a artist or any other option.  No matter what I try, it will only play one song at a time.  Once the song plays, it just stops and stays at the end of the song.  Periodically, the entire device will shut down and restart.  I saw somewhere else in the forum to pull the battery, wait 1-2 minutes, didn't work.  There was also a post to try to downgrade the software from 4.5.0.127, but really, is that necessary?
Is there a fix, patch, upgrade, or other I can try rather than going backwards?
    Please help.  Really frustrating.

I was having the same problem.  I found out the CD's that I ripped were not in MP3 format they were in windows media audio format.  I was able to load them to my phone and they would play one at a time or when a song got to the end it would restart my phone.  Replaced WMA files with MP3 files and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

  • ITunes on Windows 8 Syncing Problems Solved!

NOTE: I have only had this problem on Windows 8, not Windows 7, so if you're having trouble on Windows 7, this might not help you.
If you are experiencing the issue where your device never fully syncs, disconnects halfway through, freezes after "waiting for changes to be applied," then I believe this solution will help you.
    Follow these steps:
    1) Locate your iTunes.exe file. This can be found by the following path: Start--> All Apps (little arrow that appears on bottom left of screen when you mouse over it) -->This PC (on the far right) --> whatever drive you installed iTunes on (if you are not sure, it is the C drive by default) --> Program Files (x86) --> iTunes --> in this folder you will see a file labeled "iTunes.exe" or just "iTunes" make sure you're NOT on the "iTunesHelper" icon for the next step.
    2) Right-click on the file and hit "Properties"
    3) Click the tab labeled "Compatibility"
    4) Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    5) Click the drop-down menu just underneath that check box and choose "Windows 7"
    6) Now check the box labeled "Run this program as an administrator
    7) Click "Apply"
    8) Click "Ok"
    9) All done! Now try syncing whatever device was giving you trouble and it should work. My iPhone had to sync about 3000 songs and it failed about halfway through, but all I had to do was restart the sync and it finished the remaining 1500 or so.
Just thought I should offer this tip for those of you running Windows 8 and having syncing problems .

Yes that is a standard fix:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • ITunes 10 no remote speaker access

My remote speakers are not accessible from iTunes 10. Sometimes they are, but for no apparent reason they vanish from time to time.
I have checked the usual 'allow' access places. Anyone figured this out?

  • Source window video won't play, only audio - can someone help?

First time on this forum.  Using Pr CS4.  After capturing DV clip and opening in the source window - if I click on the play button in the source window the video makes a movement like it is going to play but then freezes. The audio from the clip still plays.  I can scrub the clip in the souce window just fine.  Could it be that I don't have some of the playback settings selected correctly. I should note that I have already put the clip on the timeline.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Quarter rez is like built-in proxy editing, and works well here.  Just follow the workflow guide for the latest version of the RED plug-in.
The new workflow guide says this:
Please note that the presets have been updated. For the new fractional resolution feature to be enabled, you must be using a preset from this release. Pre-existing timelines will need to be copy/pasted into a newly created sequence for the new decode options to become available.
    Does that apply to you?
The latest version of the plug-in also has a "new" Source Settings dialog.  Format/resolution are now done on-the-fly from the Program Monitor display settings.  I include that info only on the off chance that you haven't noticed it yet.

  • I have been using iPod touch and iTunes with Windows XP - no problems.  I now have a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium.  When I try to sync the iPod with Windows 7 and iTunes it will not transfer all my photographs.  What can I do?

When I tried to sync my iPod Touch with my new computer none of the photographs were synced.  I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  When I did it the first time the photographs were all muddled up in their albums.  When I tried to sync again the photographs were all removed.  On the third try I received an error message something like 'Unable to sync photographs program cannot be found.' Can anyone help.  (It may be to do with Windows 7 and Libraries??)

Hi, welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Start iTunes. Second menu keyword at the top-left will be Edit. Click this and then click the last item on the menu that drops down which is Preferences. The left-most tab is General and last control on the tab is Language. Click the drop-down, select English UK or English US which should be the 8th & 9th items respectively, click OK. Close iTunes, reopen.

  • Itunes on NAS MetaData retrieval problem

I have a large library from a cd collection stored as .wav files. The library is on a 2TB IOmega Stor Senter. I have no problems accessing the tunes but the artist, album & artwork are not recognized. I originally imported the CD's with the windows media player, which does recognize the data. Do I have to put the files on the hard drive or convert the format or is there an easier way to fix in itunes?

iTunes does not support storing metadata in WAV files, in normal use it will store the metadata separately in the iTunes library file.
If your looking for a lossless format for your music, one that can be shared between iTunes and Windows Media Player then the only practical choice is Apple Lossless. iTunes of course fully supports Apple Lossless, and with a free directshow filter WMP can play Apple Lossless as well, and with a free plugin WMP can also be made to read the metadata inside Apple Lossless files.

  • Problems playing audiobooks

I have a number of audiobooks that originally came on CD, I have ripped them to my PC as WAV files and then used Nero Wave editor to join all the tracks together into one single file. Finally I used iTunes to convert the file to ACC.
The file plays fine from iTunes, but I have a problem playing it on both of my iPods an iPod Mini 2ndG, 6Gb and an iPod Video 5thG, 80Gb.
When I attempt to play back the audiobooks, they start playing from the place that I left off last time, but within a few minutes the iPod skips to the next track and I lose my place in the audiobook.
The fault usually happens after I have had my iPod connected to my PC, or first thing in the morning when the iPod almost always needs to restart (blank screen with the apply logo in the middle).
My Windows XP machine is kept upto date with the latest updates and I am using the latest version on iTunes and the latest firmware on both iPods.
    iPod Mini 2ndG, 6Gb & iPod Video 5thG, 80Gb   Windows XP Pro

I made a test and purchased a new audiobook (it cost $25.99 so it was an expensive test, a gamble).
After it downloaded, and launching the Music App, there was a previously non-existant menu item for "audiobooks".  And the new purchase played.
SO ... Now the question/problem is how to restore the previously purchased audiobooks?!

  • Cannot log onto windows remote desktop

How can I log into my office's windows remote desktop. I am very new to the Mac and need some help with this. I have downloaded and installed the Windows Remote Desktop Connection, but i dont know how to use it. Do I need to have a different program to get online and not use Safari.
Please keep it simple, I am not a programer, just a program user.

I USE REMOTE DESKTOP TO CONNECT TO A WINDOWS SERVER AT WORK. YOU MUST OBTAIN THE IP ADDRESS OF THE SERVER AND PUT THAT IP ADDRESS INTO THE RDC WHERE IT ASKS COMPUTER. YOU WILL ALSO NEED THE NETWORK USERNAME AND PASSWORD TO GET ON THE SERVER AT WORK. I ALSO BELIEVE THE SERVER AT WORK NEEDS TO BE SET TUP TO ACCEPT REMOTE CONNECTIONS.
