ITunes burning albums/playlists in reverse order

BURNING CD's IN REVERSE TRACK ORDER... (Version 8.2.1)
Here is the solution to this problem that has been ruining all of my blank cd's.
I was viewing all of my albums and playlists in the "grid" view. The solution is to simply switch to "list" view. Now, when clicking the little black arrow in the column heading for play order, to the left of the track name, all of the numbers should remain the same, with 1 at the top and the last track at the bottom. The actual tracks will reverse each time you click the arrow, but the numbers will stay the same, allowing you to actual be changing the order.
If you are in "grid" view, clicking on the little black arrow in that column will reverse the view of the tracks, but if you notice, a track with play order of 7 will stay with that associated file name even if you click it.
Switch to "list" view and a track with a play order of 7 will change to a different track after clicking the arrow. You will now be able to un-reverse any playlists or albums you are having problems with.

ALSO...
If you create your playlist from an album that is in "grid" view, the tracks will be reversed and you will not be able to un-reverse the playlist by changing views. It doesn't make any sense, but try switching to list view before selecting the album/tracks you want to create the playlist from.
I guess this is the actual solution, more than my previous post.
I hope I was not the only person frustrated by this problem for so long...

How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)
So I'm adding new songs to a very old playlist? Is there anyway that when I add them, they automatically go to top of playlist? How about getting one song to the top of a playlist.  That drag to arrange function is very annoying because it is slow and the playlist does not scroll up very well on a PC.

Make a new playlist by pressing the little plus button at the very lower left corner of iTunes. An new playlist will appear in the Source pane called "untitled playlist". While the name is highlighted, you can change it to whatever you want. Drag all of the tracks from all the albums that comprise a single book to that playlist. Sync that playlist to your iPod.

  • Why are all of my artists/albums/playlists in random order after using iTunes Match?

I enabled iTunes match some months ago.  I have almost everythign uploaded or matched from my library.  But when I open the music app on my phone all of the artists are in seemingly random order.  This is not an issue with the sort order naming in the meta data.  I have no idea what is causing it.  The artists, albums, everything is completely out of order.  Furthermore, a lot of the songs are completley misslabeled.  I will try to play a Death Cab For Cutie song for instance and it starts playing kanye west.
Is there any way to completely redo my iTunes Match?  I can't seem to figure it out and I'm tired of a service that I am paying for giving me very little performance.

If you have AppleCare on your iPhone then call Apple, it's baically the only way you will get help on that front. Tell them about the issues. After a little while of trouble shooting they should pass you to a senior technician.
What trouble shooting have you done?
If you haven't done so already, Apple will request you to do it while they have you on the phone. Also, do not restore from a backup, set it up as a new device.

  • IPod Playlist in Reverse Order

I've seen quite a few people around the web having this issue. On my 3G iPod I would simply resync with iTunes, and it would correct this issue. I have a "Recently Added" playlist in iTunes, and now when I scroll to that Playlist on my iPod Classic, it shows my oldest "recently added" songs first. Not very fun when you want to have your iPod play your latest songs first.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this issue? I have consistently resynched my iPod in hopes that it would correct the Playlist order, but to no avail.
    Thanks!

    Hello Daryl,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try this:
Set your iPod up to manually manage its contents. Next, locate the playlist you wish to sync to your iPod. Right->click on it and choose "Copy to play order" then drag it to your Shuffle in order to sync it over.
A bit of a workaround, but at least it might get the job done.

  • How do I burn a playlist from itunes to CD in same order as playlist?

My playlist has songs in the order I want them burned, but when I click burn it burns them in a random order onto the CD? I tried dragging the songs 1 by 1 to the CD icon on my desktop and numbered & organised them in the order I wanted them burned, selected them all and clicked burn in the CD window and it said it copied only 1 song. When I played the CD it was blank?? This question was answered in an earlier post but the answer was incomplete and vague and didnt help. I never had this problem before, is it a bug in the current itunes upgrade? Help me pleeease?

Usually, sorting on Artist or Album will show the correct order in which the tracks also are burned on CD.
If the tracks are burned out of order, the track numbers might be incorrect.
Sorting on the first column (with the numbers), allows you to drag the tracks in any order you want. iTunes will then burn the tracks in that order.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 keeps generating incomplete downloads AND it rearranges the order of the playlist when I burn a playlist to an mp3 cd

iTunes 10.6.3 keeps generating incomplete downloads AND it rearranges the order of the playlist when I burn a playlist to an mp3 cd.
I purchased an album on iTues from my MAC book Pro & the song downloads were incomplete. The song length shows correctly in the column, but they cut off between 1/4 & 1/2 way through the songs. Now, I dwonloaded it on my iPhone 4 through my itunes account after the purchase & the songs play fine. This happened with the very next song I purchased, as well.
I got around this issue, then created mp3 versions of all the songs, put them in their own playlist, then "Burned an mp3 disc." When it completed, the songs were in a different order.
Are there any fixes for either of these problems/bugs?

  • When downloading updates from iTunes to my iPhone my playlists appear in reverse order with least played at the top. I just want the playlist to appear in the same order as my iTunes library. This seems to have changed after downloading iCloud

When dowloading updates from my iTunes library onto my iPhone
my playlists appear in reverse order with the least played at the top of the list
and most played at the end on the playlist.
Therefore I cant play my favourites in the order that I like to hear them.
This all changed when I recently downloaded the iCloud application.

    Hi Jim,
Is this temporary cache accessing my data when I play songs from it? As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm still able to listen to these songs even when my phone is in airplane mode and the download icon is still present next to said songs. This implies that the songs are already downloaded onto my phone even if I didn't opt to download them directly from the cloud -- they're on my phone because my phone was shuffling my library on a wifi network.

  • Songs are in reverse order on iPad, but correct on iTunes

I have a number of Smart Playlists that look fine when displayed on iTunes, but when iTunes copies them to my iPad Air, the list of albums shows up in the correct order but the songs in each album are sorted in reverse order.
So for example, I have a Smart Playlist defined where "Artist is Jean Michel Jarre".  That playlist is sorted by Year in list view and by Year-then-Title in Grid view.
When I look at that same Playlist on my iPad Air, all of his albums appear in chronological order (which I expect), but the songs on each album are listed last-to-first.  So Oxygene (his first album) shows up before Equinoxe (his second album), but the list of songs on the Oxygene album are shown as: Part VI, Part V, Part IV, Part III, Part II, Part I.  All of the albums on the list are in the right order, but the list of songs on each album appears backwards in each one.
This is just one example of a bug that manifests itself a lot on my iPad.  I have a lot of Smart Playlists that misbehave just like this.  I deal with it by creating not-smart playlists that are exact copies of the Smart Playlists -- but honestly, why offer Smart Playlists if they're not going to display correctly?  If they're this buggy, why am I using them at all?
Does anybody know of a workaround for this bug?  Does anybody know whether Apple is aware of it, and if they have any plans to fix it?  Please? Maybe? Someday?

I am now home from work, and over the past hour I have tried every combination of up-arrows, down-arrows, Copy To Play Order, sorting on the leftmost column, sorting on the Year column, etc. etc. that I could think of.  I believe I have followed your recommendations slavishly and to the letter.
My Jean Michel Jarre Smart Playlist is sorted with the triangle on the leftmost column, and in iTunes, the playlist order is correct.  I have sync'd my iTunes library to the iPad several times, I have unchecked that playlist, performed the sync again to remove it from the iPad entirely, checked it again and performed the sync again -- I have also tried closing the Music app on the iPad and restarting it -- I've also tried deliberately sorting the tracks in iTunes in reverse order to see if the iPad does anything any differently, including a "Copy to Play Order" for good luck -- and every combination of all of these choices results in exactly the same outcome: on the iPad, albums show up in chronological order, and tracks in each album show up in reverse order.  Nothing I do makes any difference at all.
Here's hoping iOS 8 at least doesn't make things any worse.  Maybe if the gods are smiling, it might actually solve this problem.  I was hoping that the upgrade to iTunes 11.4 might have made a difference, but, sadly, no such luck ... which is why my hopes for salvation in iOS 8 are not high ... but that doesn't stop me from being grateful to you for trying to help.  Thank you for your time.  I do appreciate it.

  • I want to burn a playlist but after it completes it has rearranged the order of songs. How do I keep my order?

Does anyone know what setting I need to change so that when I burn a playlist to a CD, I can keep my order of songs? iTunes keeps changing the order.

For a full run down see Grouping tracks into albums. Generally to control the order of tracks within an album you need to use appropriate disc and track numbers. You may also need to change the sort column for the view.

  • Why can't I burn mp3 files in the order I choose? iTunes alphabetizes!

I have set up a playlist in the exact order I want the songs to go--in alpha order by album, but no matter what I do, when I try to burn the playlist, iTunes burns it in alpha order by song title.
Tell me that this is not the only way iTunes will allow you to burn playlists, please.

Hey - thanks for the pointer to the help doc, but it doesn't make sense to me -- the first hint says:
How to burn by playlist order
    1. Create your playlist.
    2. Click "Song" to sort the playlist by song.
    3. Make sure the songs are in the order you want to hear them on the CD.
    4. Click Burn CD.
    5. Insert a blank CD and burn the disc.
#2 - Click "Song" to sort the playlist by song... ? So, where is this mysterious "song" button to click? Right now, I have it sorted by artist, because that's how I'd like it to play, but I don't see an option for song. And at the moment, no matter what I select to sort it by, it burns in alphabetical order by song title.
None of this makes sense to me.

  • How can I get an album to play in order on Itunes?  The songs keep skipping all around to other albums that I did not want to listen to at that time?

How can I get an album to play in order on Itunes?  The songs keep skipping all around to other albums that I did not want to listen to at that time?

It sounds like you might have the shuffle button at the bottom left of the iTunes (the button with the squiggly lines).
If that's not the case, then maybe you just need to sort your library by album by clicking the album tab at the top.
Is your music in a playlist, or are you trying to play it from the entire library?

  • Playlists are all in reverse order

i've got a 32gb touch, 2nd gen, running xp, latest itunes... blah blah
for some odd reason. all my playlists are in the reverse order...is there anything i can do, besides restoring my ipod?

okay there's some sort of error with handling playlists...if you select songs in itunes, and then select "create new playlist from selection", for some reason it shows up in the reverse order on the ipod...
sorting won't make a difference.... what i did was manually drag and drop songs to playlists.... restoring the ipod didnt work.... sigh... please iron out these bugs apple!
