ITunes can't distinguish between movies and TV shows
Hi,
How old is iTunes now? How many updates have we been fed with all kinds of new 'features' that are either not that useful or already duplicate functions? Why can iTunes STILL not catalog files correctly?
I have movies and TV shows all mixed together, some are duplicated and some are just named 'comedy' or some other useless title. I got so fed up with it I spent a rainy day painstakingly renaming and sorting all these files. This was followed by the inevitable long drawn out and slow process of resynching Apple TV, resynching iPhones and basically playing every file labelled 'untitled' or 'unknown' and then identifying and renaming it.
So I was well-pleased when the latest version of iTunes decided it didn't like my new filing system and has messed it all up again. I now have duplicate files, files incorrectly filed, broken links and right now over 400 'missing' files according to iTunes.
They're not 'missing'. They're on the same hard drive in the same folders and in the same place they've always been. They've not been renamed, reordered or in anyway changed, yet the wonderful iTunes has decreed things ain't what they should be and changed it all for me.
I'm not happy. By all means change my files, but not to create the mess you've now left me to sort out.
What is it with Apple these days? why can't they just leave something that works to function properly. I can find my own 'album cover art', I don't need iTunes to paste the wrong art on the wrong album and mix up all my genres, shows and movies.
If you want to help, fix that mother of a problem before making it look pretty.

It is possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."
If that does not fix it for you, you can "deauthorize all" your computers. This will solve your problem, but you may only do this once per year.
Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.

I can't get my movies and tv shows on iPad now that I have added iCloud. The problem is that my iTunes account has different name and password from my mobile me account. Can I change my iTunes account name and password so that they will transfer to my iPad with the mobile me / iCloud account? I got the "wrong answer", so the next time I asked for an email authentication. I am still waiting. I don't know what the usual time for waiting normally is. I am still waiting for an email reply from three days ago. I'm not going to hold my breath. My ipad is out of warranty but I may have to beg for help from support? I'll wait awhile longer. Maybe there is another thing someone could come up with. I appreciate your fast reply Hunter.

Yes, you can add your own videos to iTunes, then sync them to your nano, subject to supported max resolution limit and file type. The specs for the 7th gen nano says (I don't know which nano model you have), Video Format Support

(earlier nanos have lower max resolution limits)
So, "HD" video is too high resolution, so iTunes will not sync such videos to the iPod (although they play in iTunes). If you are asking how to set up iTunes to sync videos in general (regardless of source), please post back. -
I can get my music, movies and tv shows to play through my apple tv, but I cannot see my photo stream on my apple tv. What can I do to get my photos to show up on the TV?
I have a mac and wireless internet.Because you've got music and movies streaming to your Apple TV, I know you've authorized Home Sharing under the file menu of iTunes. But under that same iTunes file menu you must also go to the "Home Sharing" pull-down and select "Choose Photos to Share With Apple TV". You can select All photos, or just specific albums. Maybe worth saying again that this is done from iTunes and not iPhoto.
If you've already done this and still no photos on AppleTV, check to see that your photo file names (previously imported into iPhoto) have valid suffixes (such as photo.jpg). Without that valid suffix, iPhoto on your Mac will show the photo just fine (courtesy of the hidden Type Code embedded in the photo file), but AppleTV will not.

Please help, anyone please, thank you.To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
To go back to your question; you cannot merge accounts, but perhaps using one account for iCloud and the other for iTunes will resolve the majority of the reasons you needed to merge to begin with. -

Itunes 7.1 deleted all movies and tv shows from ipod!
Just updated Itunes to 7.1 - and found out too late that both movies and tv shows were suddenly unchecked for the sync. I've always had them on auto sync before this and did not change any settings.
So when I synched for the first time with 7.1, I lost my 20gb of videos from the ipod (60gb). Extremely annoying.
They're still in the library but it will take hours to get them back to the ipod.
Anybody else got this? Is this a bug on 7.1 or did I just do something wrong?imheretohelp wrote:

How can I distinguish between iMessages and SMS messages in the iOS 7's "Messages" app?

Siri can't distinguish between Ginny and Jenny
My wife's name is Ginny but Siri hears that as Jenny. If I say those two names alternating them in sequence, Siri returns a list containing only Jennys. I have updated Ginny's contact entry to reflect she is my spouse, but the problem still persists when I am trying to dictate messages or other items containing her name because Siri always hears it as Jenny. Siri's in good company. Many people we meet hear Ginny as Jenny. Any solutions? I have tried spelling, but that only confuses Siri. I have tried telling Siri she's hearing the name wrong, but she just won't mend her ways.

VENMAP contains both the vendors as both the vendors are replicated from ECC.
I have found one solution:
During the replication add a piece of code in both the methods of the BADI BBP_TRANSDATA_PREP
What will the code achieve:
From the table CT_LFA1 identify the vendors with KTOKK = '0006'
for those vendors set CT_LFA1-SPERM = 'X'.
This will update the table field BUT000-XBLCK with 'X'.
Hence, this can be used in the search help to distinguish between 0001 and 0006 vendors.
XBLCK is used for blocking vendors from any purchasing activity .
in my opinion this solution should work.

I can no longer edit the info for my songs, movies and tv shows. This occurred since I loaded Windows 7 Pro on my C drive, and then fownloaded ITunes 10. Why will the program not allow me to access the track info to edit it?
Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

What to do?? - I just updated my iTunes to ver 11.2.1 because of the annoying messages they keep sending out.
Now I can't play the movies and TV series I've purchased and were watchable before.
Comes up with "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."
The cheek of the matter is everytime I tried to get Apple support it comes up with a request for me to pay $54 for their support package, to fix a problem I didn't have until I complied to one of their update requests.
End of Rant!!! - Anyone know how to fix please?Well, I wonder about all the responses...:)
Anyhow, I wound up "fixing" the problem by using the System Restore disks for the Mini. It's now running Tiger 10.4.11 (with all updates) and I copied my iTunes library over. It all works now. <shrug> I have no idea what the problem was, and I'm a bit leery of upgrading it to Leopard, so I think I'll just leave well enough alone.
