ITunes default import setting

Hi I am trying to set my iTunes default import setting to "Apple Lossless" with error correction, but each time I do this, iTunes switches back to iTunes Plus with no error detection.  Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?  Thanks.

Here’s an example to illustrate what I’m talking about…
I use a DAW in my studio called Reaper (I used to use ProTools but Reaper is more versatile IMO). I can render within the program to a multitude of formats (WAV, MP3, FLAC, etc…). When I have a mix completed, I generally render to both WAV and MP3. I can also burn a render directly to a CD.
If I listen back to those WAV or MP3’s in the DAW or in (cringe moment) Windows Media Player, they sound exactly as they do if played back in the DAW. You can A/B back and forth between the DAW and WMP and it’ll sound spot on the same.
When I import either the rendered WAV or MP3 file or if I rip a DAW rendered CD into iTunes, the sound is altered. There’s definitely more boom and sizzle…it’s unmistakably different. But all I have to do with any of these “imported into iTunes” files is reset the EQ to ‘Flat’ and (ah ha moment) they sound exactly like the files when played back in either the DAW or Windows Media Player.
So there’s definitely something going on with the EQ’ing in the import phase of the process…

  • What is the default import setting??

on my itunes, i changed my import settings and now my songs are no longer compressed and take up more room on my ipod than they should. how do i reset it, or get the original import setting where my songs are all compressed?

The import settings are changed by going to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > Importing sub tab.
The default setting is the AAC Encoder at 128 kbps.
Note that this will not change the songs you've imported at a higher setting.
The best way (from an audio fidelity point of view listening) would be to delete those files and re-import them at the new (old) settings.

  • How can I make 16:9 the default import  format in PE7?

Clips recorded in 16:9 (PAL) format on my JVC Everio hard drive camcorder show up in 4:3 format when imported into Premiere Elements 7. This means all the clips are distorted vertically.
I have discovered that I can convert them to 16:9 by displaying them in "Edit", highlighting them, right-clicking and then selecting "Interpret Footage | Conform to DV1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9". But it's a hassle having to do this every time. Is there a way of fixing 16:9 as the DEFAULT import setting so that all my imported clips are correctly displayed automatically? (You can do this on Corel's VideoStudio 11.)

Clips from JVC Everio camcorders have always had this problem with Premiere Elements (all versions). You need to select Interpret Footage.
See this FAQ from PE version 2, step 3. Like I said it has been this way with all versions:

You might be able to use this tool to change the header of your MOD files so they are seen as 16:9: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDPatcher
Or use this program (SDCopy) to download the video's from the cam, it will allow you to copy straight from the cam to your PC and auto renames and corrects the aspect ratio.

  • Lightroom keeps changing default import location; how to set it once and for all?

    Hi all,
I'm on a mac, and coming from iPhoto. After migrating to Lightroom, I made is so my photos imports from my camera into "/Pictures/LightroomMasters/year/month/day".Now, suddenly, I noticed that they end up in "/Pictures/year/month/day".
I really want Lightroom to keep importing everything inside the "Lightroom Masters"-folder, without me clicking to that location everytime I attach my camera. But going through the Preferences, and Catalouge-settings, I can not find the equivalent of "Default import location". Is there such a setting? Or is Lightroom meant to remember where is imported to last, and keep on using that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andreas

It seems to remember the folder structure on my system. But I'm running Windows 7. I just tested it by inserting a memory card and importing the images on it, I don't connect cameras to my computer, to my E drive and to a folder named Pictures 2015. I had LR place these images in a sub-folder of that Picture 2015 with the date in the format of 20150201 and which these picture were taken on the 30th of January so the folder was 20150130. I then closed LR and reopened it and took some more shots around the house and then imported those. LR import dialog went right back to that E drive \Pictures 2015 folder and placed those newer images in a folder named 20150201.
So it remembered which drive and which top level folder it was supposed to. Not sure it it would work with a secondary sub-folder under the Pictures 2015 folder.
To be honest I rarely use the import from memory card feature of LR. I don't care for the naming conventions it offers. I do use the Adobe Photo Downloader applet that comes with PS Bridge as the naming convention in that creates sub-folders with just the month and day in this format 0201. I don't need the year tacked on to the front of that sub-folder name, although it can do that, as I store all my images by years to begin with. Then I import to LR from those folders the APD app creates.
If you are using more than one camera it might remember for each camera so from now on it will go back to the right folder.

  • Itunes 10 imports cd tracks in alphabetical order only.  What setting do I change so it imports the same order as the cd?

itunes 10 imports cd tracks in alphabetical order only.  What setting can I change so that it will import cd tracks in the same order as on the cd?  Any help would be appreciated!  I have this issue on only 1 of my 2 macbook pro computers, so I'm guessing it is a setting issue--but I don't know where to find it.

The apparent order of a burned CD may depend upon how you have iTunes display it - https://discussions.apple.com/message/17827921

  • ITunes 9 Default Import Settings

Hi. I have a Mac with iTunes 9.0.2. What are the default import settings in kbps? I want the best quality even if it means larger files. I couldn't find a way to change the quality of the imported files, although my other Mac with iTunes 7 has that feature under the Advanced settings.
My Mac has OS 10.4 so I'm unable to upgrade to iTunes 10.1. I tried to find a download for version 10.0 but was unsuccessful.

    Try Preferences>General>Import Settings

  • Can I import old itunes 10 backup into iTunes 11 to set up iPhone5?

I have a problem.  I just bought an iPhone 5.  My iphone 4 (that was traded in) was backed up on iTunes 10.  The computer that the phone was backed up on sustained water damage and won't turn on, however, the hard drive still works.  I have the hard drive in a external enclosure and am able to see it in Finder on my wife's MBP.  I want to setup my new iPhone 5, but the functional computer with iTunes 11 does not have the information as it was only on the damaged computer.  Is there a way to import the old iPhone data into iTunes 11 to set up my phone?
    Thanks,
    JR

You will need a third-party utility such as Phone to Mac

  • I imported a bunch of CD's using the wrong import setting.  What now?

I imported about 75 or more CD's using Aiff setting so now I have a ton of songs that are huge files. How can I make these songs itunes default file types (aac itunes plus) without importing every CD again? Thanks for any suggestions.

You can adjust your imports settings to AAC (iTunes Plus) and convert the tracks you have imported. You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. In iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings,, Change your Import format to AAC Encoder for example and choose the Setting or "bit rate" you want (the default setting iTunes Plus will give you a bit rate of 256kbps). Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create AAC version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format

  • Oracle Inventory: How to change default category set of items

    Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to change the default category set of functional area inventory in oracle as we are importing new items into inventory whihc need to be assigned to a new default category set. There is an existing default categpory set for this area.
As far as i understand once a default category has been set up and an item has been defined, the only way to change the default category set for a given functional area is to update all items with the new default category set before updating the default category set/functional area relationship.
How exactly do we update the defaul category set for an existing item and change it to a new one. Since we have close to 15K items what is the best way to do this.Is there ay API available?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Helios,
Thanks a lot for your response
The fix given in this document is to allign all the exisitng items to a category set (purchasing in this case). This is exactly what my doubt is. How to assign 15k items to a different category set. If i am able to allign these items i can change the default category of the functional area.

  • Itunes default file location - how do i change it?

Hi, can anyone help. for some reason, itunes defaults to a folder on my works network, and so when off line at home itunes will not work. i need to change the file location so that itunes looks at my local drive and i can use it off line to upload my CD collection whilst at home. no matter what i do, it tries to look for my network folder.
it is driving me mad now so can anyone help?
    thanks

    I find the opposite behaviour:
In options I set drive to network, but iTunes itself changes to lokal by no recognizable reason. Everytime I set the drive location back to network, the catalog is being renewed, taking heaps of time...

  • Changing OSX default volume setting to a higher level in sound preferences

When I change the default volume setting to a higher level in sound preferences within OSX, it is back at the lower level at the next listening session the following time I use iTunes on my Mac Mini. Within System Preferences there is a section that lets you "choose a device for sound output" but the only choice I have is "line-out" and under the "port" heading there is only "built-in output"--no other choices are shown. I have external speakers attached which I like to use for listening to music as I work. What is the problem? Why won't the higher volume I set remain? Also, shouldn't more than one choice be shown for sound output?

This sounds like the problem that I'm experiencing and <a href-"http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2694517#2694517">aske d about a couple of days ago. The sound level resets to 50% after shutdown.
I tried setting the levels in Audio MIDI Set Up as suggested above, but that hasn't changed anything.
In answer to B_web, I am running my external speakers through the headphone jack.
    So, any other suggestions?

  • Any way to make Quicktime 7.6.6 the iTunes default on OS 10.6.8?

    I don't like QT 10.  I'm running an 8-core Mac Pro (2010).
    Thanks,
    Greg

QT 7.6.6 is already installed and works fine, thanks.
In iTunes preferences I don't get to choose which version of Quicktime player it uses.   What I'm asking is if it's possible to make Quicktime 7.6.6 the iTunes default.  "Out of the box" ITunes is automatically set to default to Quicktime 10, I want to change that.
