  • ITunes does not react when I plug in my iPhone 4s?

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my laptop using Windows 7, the phone itself vibrates but iTunes does not react. I have no idea how to add the device to it and have spent hours trying to resolve it. I have also followed an online 7 step and had no effect. Does anyone know what else I have to do?

  • Itunes does not open when I plug in my ipod

itunes does not open when I plug in my ipod mini!
A window opens with the name of my ipod kiwi(E:) & a picture of a disk drive next to it.
I have to manually open itunes. No error messages pops up, so I can't figure out what's preventing the system from recognizing my ipod. In the system tray in an icon safely remove hardware if I it click my ipod ejects. My ipod still charges as normal.
Open itunes when this ipod is attached is checked off
Enable disk use is checked off
I ran a scan no malware
      Windows XP

So you connect the iPod containing a hard drive. I would guess you are using USB, right? Then Windows opens a window (wow, that's repetative) that identifies this as a USB hard drive.
    Am I close?
It sounds like you've told the iPod to act in Disk Mode. On the same preferences pane that you are telling iTunes to open, uncheck the box for enable disk mode. the mini should stop telling your computer it is a hard drive.

  • The free space for my iphone on itunes does not match the free space on my iphone after syncing.

The free space for my iphone on itunes does not match the free space on my iphone after syncing. iTunes shows 6.7 G free, but my iphone shows 6 G free. Why such a delta?

They've never sussed this out - been a problem the last year or two for me regardless of all the new iOS versions and iTunes versions. Regardless of multiple resets and full restores.  Mine showed 3.7 avail on computer, less than .5 on phone.  I did a reset and full restore.  It helped - but still differs dramatically - now showing 5.8 avail on computer but only 2.9 on phone.
APPLE!!! I have spent 10s of thousands on your products both at my business and home - why?  "Because it just works" I've been telling people.  Not sure if I can keep on saying that if you don't get this figured out!!

  • Itunes application not responding when I plug in my iphone

I am on itunes 8.2 and when I plug in my iphone itunes just goes into application not responding.
I wait for a while and then unplug the phone and it goes back to working again.
On the phone there is no "Sync" message. In fact with the phone plugged in I can access the phones apps just as if it was not plugged in.
But initially when I plug it in, it does the double vibrate and shows the charging graphic so I know the cable is ok.
The phone is already on 3.1 apparently because some new features are there... like selecting multiple photos to email.
But I don't recall ever running any updates in itunes to make it use the new software as I read you were supposed to do.
I don't want to upgrade to itunes 9 because I read so many people having problems with it... but I wonder if the phone is no longer compatible with itunes 8.2
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    -Jeff

Do you know if the problems people have reported with itunes 9 was before the 9.1 release?
I've heard tons of people saying they were reverting back to itunes 8.2 because 9 was so bad.
Am a bit nervous about that update because of that.
But an applecare guy told me that the 9.1 was supposed to address those issues. I have just not heard anything about that actually fixing things though. Still seems like a lot of people are dreading the new itunes 9.
If you are an itunes 9 user, did you have any problems with it wiping out your library or any terribly long syncing times?
    Thanks.

  • ITunes does not start when I connect iPad

Until about a month ago, everything worked perfectly. When I connected my iPad to my MacBook Pro, iTunes started automatically and then started the sync with my iPad, just as I had set it to do. About a month ago, however, iTunes would not start automatically. I have to manually start iTunes. Once I do, then everything syncs normally, no problem. I have checked, and the check box in iTunes is checked "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected." I tried a general reset of the settings on my iPad. Nothing changed. iTunes says it is the most current version (I just checked) and my iPad says it has the latest available iOS version.
Any suggestions? I can live with this like it is, but if there is a problem, I'd like to correct it before iOS 5 comes out.

Thanks to all who replied. It turns out that, as you suggested, for some reason the iTunes Helper applet wasn't there. Did a reinstall, and now all works fine. So now I know that if I never have this problem again, that will be my first stop.
As for the other suggested that were made, these are all great suggestions and these are steps I had already taken in troubleshooting the problem. I didn't mention that, so I am glad to have this documented if anyone one else does a search and is looking for an answer. By all means, be sure you do what the other folks said first, and if they don't work, then go for the iTunes Helper applet. That did it for me.

  • Itunes does not start and i cannot sync my iphone 4

I have installed Itunes 10.1.1.4 on my computer running Windows XP but it does not start. This prevent me to sync my new iphone 4.
Previously I had other versions of itunes on the computer and sometimes the same problem happened.
I did a search on Apple support and I followed the instructions (itunes disinstallation and reinstallation) but it didn't work.
I tried also to disable all the startup app but itunes using msconfig (as again suggested by apple) but it din't work as well.
Somewhere on internet I found that Bonjour could create the problem: using services.msc I disabled it but it din't work as well.
I would appreciate very much if someone could help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

  • Can't use updater; iTunes does not open when I plug in myiPod nano

I am not a cdomputer wizard, so please don't get too technical with your answers. I just received an iPod nano 4GB and installed the software CD; I plugged the nano in using the USB cord but iTunes did not open.I tried doing the updater (9/05) but that would not run.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, reset the iPod,but still nothing. Alos if I unplug my iPod from the USB cord and plug it back in, NOTHING happens.I must reset it just to get the Apple icon to come on and then the batter charges and the "Do not disconnect" message comes on. I do see an ! with a folder beside it sometimes. Read the support page for this problem, but nothing helps. Of course, Aplle offers no phone support that I can find, so I am stuck with either a bad iPod, bad software, or both. I use norton internet securities with spy sweeper software, but have not had po0rblems with other software I have added. Please help me! I am at my wit's end.
    Thanks

You can click "Contact Us" on any of the main pages to get the support number:

What version of Windows are you running? And your description of the problem isn't terribly clear. You mentioned that plugging in the iPod does nothing, but then say it causes the "Do Not Disconnect" screen appear on the iPod?

  • TS1363 iTunes does not start when I connect iTouch by USB.

This is on Windows 7.  It did connect on Vista before upgrade.  Sync occurs if I start iTunes manually.  iTouch does appear in both iTunes and Windows Explorer.  How fix?

  • ITunes does not start automatically when I plug in my iPHONE.  When I start it manually it does not recognize my phone although the phone is visible in My Computer.

Itunes does not start automatically when I plug in my iPhone.  When I start it manually, it never recognizes the phone although it does ask if I want to download pictures etc.  Many albums have no art work that use to.  iTunes completely unresponsive to the mouse.

    Hi billm1013,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPhone. If your iPhone isn't being recognized in iTunes, and/or iTunes isn't responding to your mouse when the iPhone is connected, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • ITunes does not start up when plugging in iPhone?

I wonder how to get iTunes start up automatically when I plug my iPhone in to my MacBook. Right now, when I plug in my iPhone the iPhoto starts up instead. This is strange because I thought that iTunes should be the one starting up. Anyone knows how to fix this.

I found this thread trying to figure out the opposite: disable iTunes from starting up every time I plugged in my iPhone. The UI flow doesn't make it obvious either way.
If auto sync is disabled globally in itunes/settings/devices, the sync option in the summary pane/advanced section is unchecked and grayed out.
So by checking the global disable option, iTunes will always automatcially start up (by not sync) when I plug in my iPhone regardless.
By unchecking to "enable" automatic syncing (double negative UI options FTL), that enables the summary pane/advanced section where you can now uncheck the automatic sync option for the device, which will then also keep iTunes from popping up.
    Confused?
