ITunes doesn't launch; no error message, computer freezes up.

When I click on my iTunes desktop icon, a message appears saying, "Please wait while Windows configures iTunes...". Then the computer slows to a crawl, and within minutes completely freezes up, fails to recognize key-strokes, or mouse movement and I have to pull the powercord out of the wall outlet. All other software and internet works fine. I have downloaded no new software, and my spyware/virus sweeps find nothing. HELP!!!!

Just tried the cryptographic services fix again and it worked. Here's the text from Microsoft:

    Yeah

OK, so i cannot enter into iTunes safe mode, whilst monitoring proccesses in the task manager I noticed that itunes will only stay open if i keep my fingers on shift and control-i dont know if that is worth mentioning- the proccess promptly ends after the release of the said keys, (I tried both the shift control keys on either side of the keyboard-same result) so i am stuck there.
    P.S.
This version of iTunes had previously worked before, I uninstalled everything apple related after noticing how many processes (-id est-) /applications, were using up my memory.
afterwards I had need for iTunes, (i needed to wipe my iDevice) I reinstalled and this problem has arisen.

  • Itunes won't launch, no error message

I have an ipod shuffle and everything was fine till I downloaded the new version of itunes. Now itunes does not launch, it does not do anything atall, no error message, no hourglass, nothing.
Also, my ipod shuts down after playing for just 5 minutes. It seems like it is not getting charged even if I leave it in my computer for a while.
    Quicktime launces without any problems.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes will not launch--no error message

I just got a new iPod for Christmas (5th Gen 30 GB iPod with Video--Black), and I've been trying to set it up. I have yet to even plug my iPod into the computer because there is a problem with iTunes. Every time I click on iTunes or attempt to open anything with iTunes, nothing happens. For a few seconds the cursor will have an hourglass as if something was happening but then it goes away and nothing happens. I've tried many methods of fixing this problem but nothing is working, and without an error message, identifying the problem has been made difficult. I've reinstalled iTunes a few times and there really are no other problems with anything else on my computer. Can anyone help me?
Edit: I do not have Norton on my computer. I do have McAfee, Windows Defender, Lavasoft Ad-aware, and Spybot--Search & Destroy
Also, Quicktime is working fine, and no, there is NOT a flash of the license agreement
    Thanks
Dell Windows XP 1st gen. 2 GB iPod Nano (Black) ; 5th Gen 30 GB iPod with Video (Black)

That was my first attempt at fixing the problem and it didn't work. I guess I'll try it again.
    Edit: Nope, nothing

  • 7.1.1 iTunes Fails to Launch (No Error Message, Pretty Weird)

After downloading iTunes 7.1.1, I installed iTunes. The installation went well and everything was installed. I had no problem with installation.
However, after installing, I tried opening iTunes. However it fails to launch and I don't receive an error message.
When I open the Windows Task Manager and check out the processes, the iTunes.exe appears for 10 seconds and then disappears.
The weird thing is, is that iTunes version 4.0 works perfectly. (I think it's 4.0. It's the one that has the green note. The current versions have the blue note.)
I can open it up and play my music.
I have a Dell Dimension 8200 (It's about 6 years old.) The operation system is Windows XP.
Can someone explain and tell me how to fix this problem, so I can open iTunes 7.1.1.
    Thanks.

However, after installing, I tried opening iTunes. However it fails to launch and I don't receive an error message.
When I open the Windows Task Manager and check out the processes, the iTunes.exe appears for 10 seconds and then disappears.
doublechecking one more thing that can help narrow in on possible culprits with these sorts of symptoms.
try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)

  • ITunes doesn't launch - no errors or anything.

iTunes refuses to launch after I closed it through the Task Manager because it wasn't responding. Does anyone have a solution for this? Please, help.
    iTunes 7   Windows XP

some preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
    (1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
    (2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)
    (3) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

  • Capture problem -- strange error messages -- computer freezes

Upon 25 minutes or so into capturing, I get a strange error message to this effect: "analyzing DV audio -- validating audio data" -- the video slows to a crawl until it completely freezes -- rainbow wheel whirls nonstop -- sometimes command-option-escape force quits it, sometimes not and I have to reboot the computer. Sometimes I don't get the error message -- the computer capture screen freezes but the camera keeps going. Anyway here are the specs: Intel dual-processor iMac 300 GB with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5., format Mac OS Extended journaled. External hard drives Western Digital 500 GB formatted the same; QT 7.5.5; FCE 4.0.1; Settings: DV NTSC 48 Khz. Format & use - DV NTSC. Device control preset: firewire NTSC. Camera - Canon 900 ZR (miniDV tapes) hooked up to back of iMac via 6 pin shiny orange firewire for capture. I capture to Mac hard drive and then move video to external hard drive. Yes there is enough space and RAM. I had this problem before except the error message was "locating time break." So it was suggested I capture to hard disk. Seems like it's always something! I've lost hours trying to fix this problem. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

12 bit. Haven't been having any audio problems with FCE. However, I tried the nightmare iDive and never got audio (much less anything else) to work with that. So I uninstalled it and asked for my money back.

  • ITunes simply wont launch, no error message or anything...

Hi, when I click on iTunes--whether from the shortcut, start menu, or the actual location it was saved in--it won't open. Nothing comes up at all, it's as if I never double clicked it. I've tried right clicking >> open. Still nothing.
What is going on with my iTunes? Do I need to reinstall?
Thanks in advance for any help

Alright I figured it out, in my task manager under processes it was still running so I closed it, now it opens fine

  • Photoshop CS4 stopped launching, no error message. Mac os 10.5.8 on PPC

    Hi all,
I´m using Photoshop CS4 on this computer (Powerbook G4 PPC with OS 10.5.8, 10 GB HD free, 1.5 Gb Ram) without problems since 3 years ago.
2 days ago it stopped suddently working. It just doesn´t launch, without error message. On that days I was using an external USB hard disk that crashed...
Bridge runs ok but when I try to run Camera Raw, I get the message  "Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
I already re-installed photoshop, uninstalled it and reinstalled, I tried also "App cleaner" and also I tried deleting all folders related to photoshop CS4 and reinstalling. I also repared disk permissions. I tried to use the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool but unfortunatly it doesn´t run on this machine.
Next step would be to format the machine, but I don´t want to do it unless it´s strictly necessary..
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

Alas, Photoshop 7.x is not supported in Leopard (nor in Snow Leopard)—as far as I know.
What's worse, Photoshop 7.x is out of the upgrade path.

Attempting to upgarde itunes and I get an error message looking for "an alternate path to a folder containing 'iTunes.msi' location.  I've searched my hard drive and the file doesn't exist.  What to do?

This worked...found on a prior discussion:
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page)...
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
From the link above (near the top of the page)....Under 'download locations'   click on 'download@majorgeeks'
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you just downloaded and ran.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Restart your computer.
Re-download Itunes (latest version form Itunes website) and install.  It worked!

    Hi there beee19,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

iTunes auto-update dowloaded and installed on 28/01/2014. iTunes now won't launch and error message states file MSVCR80.dll is missing. Tried unistalling and downloading/installing again to no avail.  Any clues?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

iTunes is a program on your computer, it is not "the Internet".  The fact that the program runs has no bearing on Internet connectivity.
Maybe if a little more information was supplied, like version of the Operating system on the computer and version of iTunes, then a little more assistance could be provided.
