Itunes doesn't open after 10.4.7 upgrade "Clarification"

Just to clarify my last post... Actually the problem of Itunes just bouncing up and down but not openning happened after installing the Itunes 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 as well as the Mac OS 10.4.6 to 10.4.7... I recieved 4 programs to be updated from Software up-date, Mac OS 10.4.7, Itunes 7.1.2 and two other programs, I don't remember what they were... Is there a way I can reinstall just the Itunes up-grade? Everything else seems to be working fine...
Thanks, Dave

Itunes 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 as well as the Mac OS 10.4.6 to 10.4.7...
You probably mean QuickTime 7.1.2.
Does QuickTime open correctly?
You might try running the Combo-updater. It sometimes fixes these problems.
You can download it here.
After that, run the iTunes updater again. You might need to remove the 'iTunesX.pkg' and the 'iTunesX 6.0.4.pkg' files from ./Library/Receipts if the Installer does not want to re-install iTunes.
If you're running Protools, read this article.
Hope this helps.

  • HT201263 iTunes doesn't open after I plug in the phone

After trying to update to ios 7.0.6, iTunes doesn't open after I plug in the phone and doesn't show the message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.", which it should. What do I do now?

  • Itunes doesn't open after monolingual use, any further ideas?

I installed Monolanguage and now iTunes doesn's open any more.
tried everything mentioned here and in other forums.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.
    I uninstalled Monolanguage
    I uninstalled and reinstalled Flip4Mac
    I deleted te TLSC file
I repaired the rights of access
    I rmoved Flip4Mac and Quicktimeplayer
I restarted the system serveral times
    Nothing helps.
    Any more ideas?
How can I delete and reinstall iTunes without loosing all my data and backups etc.?

"Monolanguage" as you say several times, or "Monolingual" as in your topic?
Flip4Mac has nothing to do with iTunes.
You have to be careful using Monolingual It can remove components other applications expect to be there.  I don't know how it affects iTunes, though it could conceivably be looking for language support you no longer have.
If you're getting so desperate for hard drive space that you're using Monolingual then you may want to think about moving other files off, or buying a bigger hard drive.
You may want to consider re-installing your operating system  or restoring your computer from backup if you really think this was caused by using Monolingual.

  • ITunes doesn't open after the first time

Hi, my iTunes after the last upgrading doesn't open. Really it open the first time after starting pc then , when i shut down it seems frozen. Could you help me? Do you ave a solution?

Try following steps and test one at a time:
    1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
    2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

    Hello,
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

There are workarounds if the 867MHz CPU is the only hangup...

  • ITunes doesn't open after upgrading to 7.3

Since upgrading to 7.3, I can't get iTunes to open. I click on the icon, the application opens for about a second an then closes. The iTunes icon remains in the system tray until I move the mouse over it, at which point it disappears. If I don't move over the icon and try to open it again, I end up with two icons in the tray. If I do this one or two more times, the app opens, I get an "updating library" popup that hangs, and the CPU usage maxes out. I've let it go for a while on the off chance that it might actually be doing something, but the status bar never budges and I ultimately have to close it with Task Manager. This is incredibly frustrating, and I can't believe I'm the only person to which this has happened. HELP!

I've been dealing with this for the past few days too. Remove iTunes and go onto oldapps.com/itunes. Install version 7.1.1 and this should at least get you to use itunes. don't worry about losiung your songs either.

  • ITunes doesn't open after upgrade

No error messages and I have loaded the most recent version of 7.x. I do receive the licensing agreement, but the software won't open visibly, it is running in task manager. Assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. I've uninstalled an reinstalled and nothing seems to work.

I do receive the licensing agreement, but the software won't open visibly, it is running in task manager.
is it just flashing the license agreement at you? or is it presenting itself, closing when you click agree, and then nothing happens?
if you get to click agree, does the same thing happen every time you try to launch itunes?
if it's happening everytime, by any chance do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?

    Hi,
Install the v10.6.6 combo update available here. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.6. The combo includes fixes that were not included in the original update.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1349
Restart your Mac and try the MAS again.
You can download apps directly from the MAS once you have it running.
Considering the TM backup took so long, make sure there's enough space on your Mac startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.*

  • Safari doesn't open after i updated it to 1.6.8

Safari doesn't open after i updated it to 1.6.8

    Reinstall Safari 5.1.2
    Then restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, you may have a third party add on that was compatible with the prior version of Snow Leopard, but not 10.6.8.
Troubleshooting help here >  Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try Safari in another user account. If you can't open Safari there as well, that's an indication the startup disk may need repairing.
Log back in to your admin account, launch Disk Utility. That's located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
Help for repairing the disk if necessary here > Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • ITunes won't open after OS update to Yosmite

ITunes won't open after OS update, ITunes has been updated, it won't open or bounce. It will not allow me to move it to trash or reinstall it. I have already updated to OS X Yosmite two times as directed by apple, I have rebooted in safe made as well as Command/Option/P/R before start up. I have opened console/system log to see if there is anything going on but when I click on Itunes nothing happens, not even so much as half a line of script. I'm stumped. If I wanted someone to tell me to turn it off and on again I'd just watch IT Crowd. please help

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
If you head into your applications folder and locate iTunes. Right click iTunes and show package contents. In there there will be a contents folder --> MacOS --> double click on the iTunes terminal icon. This should force iTunes to open via a terminal window and at the very least it will tell you what it is getting stuck on.
