This happened to me once... I was told to hold the menu button and the center button until the apple appeared in the screen... after I did it my iPod would show up as a divice on iTunes.... I don't know if that helps.
That worked for me, too! I had been so frustrated because I tried everything else, then I finally just reset it (holding menu & center button until Apple Inc. logo showed up, and it worked!

  • My itunes doesn't recognize my ipod touch because I've never connected it before and it is disabled, it won't let me restore it, it says to enter a passcode in order to connect and I can't because it is disabled

My ipod touch is disabled and it says to connect to itunes to restore.  I have never added the ipod to my devices on my itunes so when I connect it says that itunes doesn't recognize the device.  I then put it in recovery mode and connected it to itunes and I clicked restore and it says that itunes can't connect until I put in the passcode, but I can't put in a passcode because it is disabled!!!  I don't know how to fix it and it is only a month old, should I take it back?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

and, there's a "ipod_control/music folder" error... how can i fix it?

this osunds similar to the problem I am having with a ipod classic 120 gig model. Itunes is saying that the ipod wont work without itunes 8.0 and to download thelatest version of itunes. And I have the latest version of itunes- 8.2. and it still does not recognize my ipod.

  • The new iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod classic.  Why?

I had to re-install my OS which required installing the new iTunes.  Now iTunes won't recognize my iPod classic.  It took some time before iTunes would even allow me to log in to my account.  What's the deal??  I'm becoming increasingly irritated that I can't put my cloud music back onto my iPod...

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPod out of the blue

My USB cable recognizes my iPod because the battery icon on the top right corner will show that the iPod is being charged by the computer, but iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod and doesn't open anymore, even when I open it manually. I upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes, but it still doesn't work.

No I didn't change anything about the software/hardware. All of the sudden iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod, but my computer obviously still recognizes it because my iPod will charge when it's connected to my computer. iTunes just doesn't recognize my iPod anymore, so I tried to download the updated version of iTunes (I got it from another site because I went to the download website on Apple and there weren't any directions or any pop-up boxes to allow me to download anything).

Ok people after messing up three days with my jailbroken ipod touch cauze my itunes didn't recognize it i figured out that the problem is first windows recognized it as a imaging device o as a camera, i found in the device manager was listed mi apple ipod under portable devices and there was the problem it has to be listed under universal serial bus controllers named as a apple ipod so this is what i did but first make sure u have correctly installed itunes and the apple mobile device support:
1 open the device manager or windows button + r is run and then type devmgmt.msc
2 look for the portable devices and find the apple ipod or wherever that is listed on your pc.
3 once u find the apple ipod do a right click on it and click on uptade driver software
4 take the manualy opcion or browse on my computer and then look for this folder on your computer C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
there should be the driver that itunes recognize and your windows wont recognize your ipod as a camera again but i repeat u have to make sure u have installed the apple mobile device support u can get it by extracting the itunes+quicktime package using winrar. so click on update or next what ever on the update process and next time itunes will open your ipod for sincying thanks to forums ilounge.com

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPod but my laptop does

I'm having a problem with my ipod touch and I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem. About a month ago, I updated itunes after not updating it for a couple months.
The same day I was cleaning my computer, so I was unninstalling some programs I never use, the thing is I must have deleted one I didn't had to, because from that day on when I connect my ipod or any apple device to my computer, my laptop recognizes it, but itunes doesn't. So I haven´t been able to add any music or videos to my ipod in nearly two months... I tried unninstalling and installing itunes again and again and with different versions to see if my ipod wasn't compatible with the version I had updated but that wasn't the case, I have tried everything I can find on the internet but nothing seems to fix my problem.
    Is there any

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPhone -- Help!

    Reaching out for help....
iTunes does not recognize my iPhone. Given the number of threads and help documents, this may not sound new - the baffling part is that it DOES recognize my iPod, but not my iPhone.
I am running Windows Vista on a Mac Pro using Bootcamp. Itunes works as it should in every other respect - it connects with an Airport base station, it recognizes and syncs with an iPod, etc. etc. - but no luck at all with my iPhone.
Things I have alread tried include....
    - reinstalling iTunes (multiple times, making sure to clean up the remnants, etc.)
    - stop and start (and reinstall) the Apple Mobile Devices service
    - reinstall all Apple products (i.e. quicktime, updater, etc.)
    - use different USB ports (have tried them all)
    - fully charged iPhone
Frankly, can't think of (nor find anything) else to do!
FYI, not an iPhone issue, iTunes running in Mac OSX (on same computer) recognizes it fine, and iTunes running in vista (in a different computer) also recognizes it with no problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Help!!!

    THANKS ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
After weeks of struggling with this issue, and having tried the solutions listed in this and other discussions; I finally was able to resolve the issue on my pc (Mac Pro running Vista with Boot Camp) by uninstalling both iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support, rebooting, disabling my antivirus, disconnecting other usb stuff - then, from within device manager updating the driver for the iPhone by manually searching in the C:/program files/common files/apple directory.
You may want to jump ahead to trying the driver update right off the bat (dont know if my efforts preceding that contributed to the solution).

  • While updating to 8.1, not enough memory: phone is stuck in update, PC/iTunes doesn't recognize phone.  Help!

I tried downloading 8.1 wirelessly(!).  No warning about not enough memory.  Software downloaded by would not load in phone (4S) - cell antenna went into permanent "search" mode(?).  Took phone to PC to download videos to make room for IOS 8.1.  iTunes does not recognize the phone.  Was able to delete most videos using PC "my computer" and browsing to those files.  Phone then allowed me to load 8.1, but now it is stuck on a black screen with the iTunes logo telling me to connect to iTunes:  only iTunes still won't recognize the phone!  Phone is frozen on this screen.  Global reset (power + home button) only turns phone off briefly, then returns to this eternal screen of death.
