Itunes download problem, Error 7, Windows error 193

I was trying to download the latest Itunes update, which failed 3 times. I recieved an error message "Error 7, Windows Error 193". I followed the instructions on Apple Support to download the latest installer for windows 7, but that still didn't work. What do I do?

Hi laney576,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would recommend trying a thorough removal and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

  • ITunes download problem for Windows 7 and errors

I’m running Windows 7 32-bit.  When I try to download iTunes, I keep gettingan error messages.
This is the error message that I get when I try to download:
An error occurredduring the installation of assembly “Microsoft. VC80. CRT. Type = “win32”. Version= “8.0.50727.6195”. public KeyToken = “1cf8b3b9a1e18e3b”. processorArchitecture= “x86””.  Please refer to Help andSupport for more information HRESULT: 0x8007054F
Here is another error message that I get:
    iTunes.exe Entry Point Not Found
Theprocedure entry point KCMByterStreamNotification_AvailiableLengthChanged couldnot be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll.
Here is a third error message that I get:
iTunes wasnot installed correctly.  Pleasereinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows errer127)

Same problem. I think it's related to a problem with the Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package.
What version do you guys have instaled of the Visual C++ 2005 Redist?
If you go into control panel, uninstall a program.  Go down to Microsoft, you should see it
    mine says 8.0.50727.4053
The error seems to mention .6195
Does any one have any idea what that means?
i'm pretty sure if i uninstall the 2005 Redistrib, i won't be able to reinstall it.  That's my curret situation with the 2008 package so i'm afraid to uninstall the 2005 although it's not helping me by leaving it...

  • Same itunes 6 problem error -3

Im gonna attempt fixing my error -3 problem by installing quicktime by itself.
but i need a link. does anyone have a link to a quicktime download by itself.
    mucho thanks.

I'm getting the same -3 problem. I've uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime everything, nothing works. However I did find a QTInstallCode log that tells me the following:
    QuickTimePreInstallProc Enter
         Current QT processes = 0
Will check for QT version: 7.0.2.120
    Found DLL "QuickTime.qts", version = 6.5.2.10
    GetQTInstallInfo: Older QuickTime installed
GetQTInstallInfo: is QTPro - no, upgrade would invalidate - no
    Final result: 3 (error=0)
    QuickTimePreInstallProc Exit (error=0)
Does this help? I'd really like to upgrade my iTunes, and I'm using Windows XP Spk 2. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

All - Thanks for the information.
I am receiving the same error, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Thought I found the answer in your replies above. However, I cannot find the "Apple Software Update" program either from Start -> All Programs or the Control Panel.  I am running Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I would appreciate any additional guidance you have.

  • Several Song Download problems- Error 8248 + Stops at "Processing"

I bought one single song, it downloaded fine but it froze at "Processing file" it shows in my itunes but won't play.
Then i bought an album (not seeing this) and it downloaded all the songs but got the error "8248"
I searched the discussions and found problems with vcast, i uninstalled it and still nothing!

    Update:
I restarted my computer, because once I closed iTunes it said the download would finish again. But now my purchases shows nothing new but one song from the album. And no downloads are going on..
Yet in my purchase history it says I have the entire album and the other song, but i don't.

  • Cannot completed itunes download (network error)

Hi. I have try download itunes 11.01 for 4 times already but as the download nearly complete (83.1/83.1 mb), suddenly it cannot completed its download and it appears that it has network error. What should i do?

    Okay.
Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

  • HD movie download problems (error 1000)

I have recently purchased two HD movies (which I have downloaded) and just purchased Guardians of the Galaxy. Every time I try to download it onto my computers it gets to the end and I get an error (error 1000), I can watch it on my apple TV, but it wont download on my macbook pro or iMac. Everything is up to date as far as software goes. I have had the same internet for all the movies I have purchased and never had any problems with HD movies. Any suggestions?

In my professional opinion, you should avoid house blackouts while downloading any kind of data. Keep a generator handy.
Sorry, I have nothing to offer in assistance. This is all uncharted, untried territory. I would hope that ATV would be able to figure out that a partial download had occurred and continue from wherever it needed to for a clean, complete download.

  • ITunes download using Firefox on Windows 7 64-bit does not work

I just got set up on a new Windows 7 machine (64-bit) at work.  I was trying to download the iTunes exe file to my machine and was initially using Firefox as my browser.  After multiple attempts to save the file were unsuccessful, I decided to try a different browser.
I popped over to Chrome and it downloaded with no problem.  I thought I would share in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

This has worked for some of us but not all. Go to control panel and uninstall itunes and icloud, restart pc, go to apple site and download itunes and icloud. Good luck.

  • Rogers Canada ISP is the cause of iTunes download problems

    Hi Everyone,
Over the past month Rogers (ISP) in Canada has put some software on their networks that prevents activity for BitTorrents, P2P, IRC, and also along with that is a rule that if you are trying to download a large media file from more then 1 server it will be dropped. When you download a Podcast from iTunes it downloads that file from multiple servers in the background (I confirmed this by watching my cable modem logs). As soon as it tries to use more than 2 different servers for the download, it just stops. That's the reason why Podcast downloads stop at random places - it's the point where a 2nd server is involved in the download. The same issue causes timeouts and cut-offs in the iTunes music store.
Here is the problem - when anyone calls Rogers about the problem they say it is either a router, firewall or Apple problem and they shrug you off.
Hundreds or thousands of people in Canada can no longer get Podcasts or purchase music from the iTunes Music store. This is BAD. Please, Apple, contact Rogers and sort it out. So many people have called Rogers with no luck.
It took a while to find out the problem and a lot of people have no idea what is going on. It isn't related to iTunes 6 - it just happened that Rogers made this change at about the same time as the iTunes 6 release.

    Thanks Jerry,
I have been trying every conceivable setting, changing routers, reinstalling software with no success. I needed to confirm that it was not my home setup as I had coincidently changed my setup shortly before I started having the problems. I was beginning to suspect either Apple or Rogers but didn't know where to look next. I even tried other streaming music services and they work fine, so I figured Apple must have changed something in one of their recent iTunes updates.
Reading your explanation about Rogers seems more logical however. I recently asked them about Firefox support for some of their Radio streaming services and they replied "no, only Internet Explorer is supported at Rogers". They are a Microsoft-partnered company so it only figures they would not help non-Microsoft users.
On a technical side, Rogers may have a valid reason for not allowing multiple server downloads as this is a popular method of piracy. However, when they interfere with commercial-based customers they need to cooperate and support their customer base.
Just in case someone asks (seeing most of the posts here are Mac users), I am using a Dell PC with Windows XP and all the latest security updates.

  • ITune download problem

I just downloaded the new version of itunes and restarted my computer,  it won't open now. Says it is not installed correctly. Anyone else have trouble?

there have been a number of issues with iTunes11 installer on Windows computers.
You do not mention the Windows version you run?
Reinstalling - uninstalling and running iTunes installer (right click - Run As Administrator) works for some.
Also in some cases people had to uninstall QuickTime.
