Itunes.exe has generated errors - Windows 2000 SP4

Hi there,
Please can someone help me??
I have been using i-Tunes 7 for some time now on my Windows 2000 machines, however, since re-installing Windows 2000, and downloading i-tunes 7 and clean installing, i-Tunes suddenly stops working in the midst of installing other essential software and updates (which were all running before re-installing Windows 2000 alongside i-tunes 7 with no problems).
When I try to load i-tunes, I get "itunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows, you will need to restart the program".
I have tried uninstalling i-tunes, Quicktime won't uninstall and says "Fatal Installation Error" when trying to do so. But even when re-installing or downgrading to an earlier i-tunes (i-tunes 4) - it still gives the same error message!
I am at my wit's end - I have re-installed Windows 2000 for the third time today and it will work at first, but then suddenly gives this error every time I load i-tunes.
Please help!!
Happy New Year
dakku

I have tried this (I uninstalled EVERYTHING including Quicktime & Apple Update), but I am still getting the same error message.

  • Itunes.exe has generated errors...videos wont transfer

I have Windows 2000 w/service pack 4 and all updates.
itunes and ipod work great with the EXCEPTION of when I try to transfer downloaded VIDEOS from itunes to my LIBRARY. The downloads are on my hardDrive but when I try to transfer them over to the ipod a PROGRAM ERROR alerts that itunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows...and shuts down. Yes I have already TWICE removed and reinstalled itunes with all virus scans and spyware OFF, downloaded the stand alone quicktime.Still no luck.
What the heck is causing this???
    HP Windows 2000 amd-K6 3D

If you know where this error log it generates/creates is, copy and paste it here in a post so we know whats happening.
Just to cover basics, run antivirus to check for viruses on your PC, run any malware program you use to check for ad/spyware, and after that turn off or disable any antivirus/security programs you have before installing iTunes. there is a slew of post here on both Norton AND Mcafee and how they have interfered with installs of iTunes
Someone may correct me on this but seems like your installer files are corrupt. run Microsofts "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" and anything listed as iTunes or Quicktime remove with the cleaner. You can get the clean up Utility at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

  • Itunes, exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows

I can't click anthing related to itunes without recieving this message. I have uninstalled the software and re-installed without any fix. Can anyone offer up a solution.

Perform a Thorough & Complete Uninstall and Reinstall of iTunes/QuickTime
(Compiled from the collective wisdom of toonz and Da Gopha)
If you want to guarantee a successful upgrade and be proactive about minimizing potential install issues, do the following:
    1. Completely Backup your music and iTunes library files.
    2. Virus check / spyware scan your machine. Use several quality programs to completely scan your PC – all drives. EWIDO seems to be one used by many here. Free at: http://www.ewido.net/en/
    3. Completely remove / uninstall the current version of iTunes and QuickTime from your system.....
3a. - Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
3b. - Do a Stepwise clean uninstallation of iTunes
3c. - Then download and install the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility
.....And make sure iTunes is really gone.
    4. Delete the contents of your temp folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp
    5. Reboot the PC
    6. Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
    7. Start with the QuickTime standalone installer. Download it and save it to your hard drive. Then run it from the PC (not directly from on-line)
    8. Reboot the PC
    9. Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
    10. Completely download the latest iTunes Installer. Save it to your PC. Then run it from the saved location of your PC
    11. Reboot the PC
    12. Open iTunes and enjoy
The majority of problems out there on the discussion boards are caused by viruses or other system corruption — sometimes self-inflicted by the user (i.e. - people who turn off necessary Windows services) — or out of date drivers. You may want to consider this if your PC falls into one of these categories.

So frustrating!!!!!!!!! I've tried everything and nada...zero...zilch. I need to get into Itunes just to deauthorize this **** computer!!! Someone please help. Otherwise, how do I get into contact with Apple to deauthorize all my computers? (I've already done it once earlier this year.)

Some of these iTunes crashing problems were fixed with the latest iTunes 6.02. Download and install the newest iTunes if you have not recently done so.

  • ITunes.exe has generated error and must close.

I don't have administrative powers, so i can't reinstall it, and the administrator no longer lives in my house and wont give up the password. Is there a way to stop this, because I cant even open iTunes at all.

    hi TPee!
Also when I try to unistall Quick time. It will not let me.
it sounds like the initial problem is likely due to a broken quicktime. so if we can replace your QT, we should be able to get itunes launching again.
with that strategy in mind, could you let us know what error message you're getting when you try to uninstall QT? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

  • Ipodservice.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows

I just bought a brand new Ipod and got the new iTunes 7 but whenever I plug in the iPod I get the "Ipodservice.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows" message and iTunes wont recognize the iPod. It seems to be recognized by windows. As soon as I restart the .exe it happens again (if the iPod is plugged in)

    Hi,
I keep getting the same error message saying iPodService.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes and reinstalled and restarted my computer but still no go. Anyone got any ideas? Would really appreciate it as I've just got a new iPod nano and finding it very frustrating not being able to hook it up. Thanks in advance.

  • NImax.exe has generated errors. You must restart the program, a log file is being created.

NImax.exe has generated errors. You must restart the program, a log file is
    being created.
This error occurs just after bootup, no programs started except windows..
Running Windows 2000 latest version on a brand new computer.
    (pent 4 3.0 ghz 500MB ram).
Can anyone help me with this problem? Happened after install Labview 7.0
express. Installed twice and same problem occured with both installs.
Labview 7.0 is the only thing installed right now. Also selected "Visual
Basic Support" install from driver cd's.
One other thing I just noticed. System info reports 2 processors and I
    think I only have one.
    TIA

    Happy update.
After ignoring this problem for awhile and installing some NI DAQ boards,
this problem is not happening anymore.
Would urge NI to investigate further though. Messed me up for a couple of
days, and still don't know why it happened.
Much thanks to those who helped.

  • Java.exe has generated errors

    Hi all,
I have installed JRE 1.2 and Jdk 1.2.2 on my new machine (Pentium 4 ) with Windows 2000.
When i am running the java.exe or javac.exe from command prompt , I am getting following error messages.
"java.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."
Can any one experienced it and how to fix it.
    regards
    VAND

Maybe your java.exe and javaw.exe are infected by virus..
You can try running a virus scanner program..

I work in the same office as Paul, and have been trying to get Weblogicserver 5.1 installed on my Pentium IV machine. (Your website does not
distinguish between the various pentium flavors, professing compatibility
with them all.) The InstallShield begins to do its thing, but just before
it finishes, I get the message that the program WLPASS~1.exe has generated
errors. The InstallShield finishes, but a subsequent attempt to launch the
Weblogic Server results in a message stating that wlserver.exe has generated
errors. Similar messages result from any attempt to launch the programs in
the Weblogic directory. Can you give any help?Thanks,-Adam Kuehn

  • NIMax.exe has generated errors

My system was working fine till this morning. I had to reconnect GPIB cables. I did that and ever since then, i'm unable to use MAX. As soon as i open MAX and click on "Devices and Interface", i get this error - "nimax.exe has generated errors and will be closed down by windows. You need to restart the program". I uninstalled LV 6.0 and MAX 3.1 and reinstalled LV 6.0 and MAX 3.2. The problem still is the same .. PLEASE HELP IMMEDIATELY !!!

Perhaps in the reinstallation of MAX the configuration data files have been corrupted. One way we can check this is to close MAX, and then delete the Data folder found in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX. This will basically give you a clean slate in MAX to start from. WARNING: Deleting the Data folder will remove all MAX configurations. New configuration files will be created when MAX is reopened. If this is something that's possible for you, please try it, and let us know if it allows you to reopen MAX and move on. If not, we'll keep trying.

  • Java.exe has generated errors and will be closed.....

I have a java application installed on many PCs where it normally runs expect one (with Windows2000, as the other PCs): when I start the application the following error occurs:
application error. java.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart he program
(The application installs the directory jre with his java.exe that corresponds to jdk 1.2. The .bat that starts the application calls that java.exe specifying the correct classpath)
Is ther anybody who knows how to explain/solve this problem?

I have the same problem after installing Oracle Spatial 8.1.7 on a W2K PC with Pentium IV.
I'm going crazy, because without Java I can't use DBA Studio...
    Anyone knows the solution?
    Thanks

  • ITunes has generated errors and will be closed by windows

I just bought an iPod and downloaded iTunes, however now when I try to open iTunes, I keep getting a message that says "iTunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows, you may need to restart the program" HELP!!! I don't know what to do!!! I've tried removing the program and reinstalling it several times. I've updated my windows program and also made sure I have updated spyware. I don't know what else to do. If I can't fix it soon, I'm going to return the dumb thing!!!

    Hi Kuxster,
Try this, and see if it does anything (there's probably a different root to your issue, but you might want to go ahead and give this a try).
1 - Remove all <b<iTunesSetup.exe</b> installers off your computer. (You might want to search for them: "START > Search", type in "itunessetup", and hit the Return key.)
2 - Now, download another copy of iTunes from this page: Download iTunes - 7.2.0.35
3 - After you have fully installed iTunes, restart your computer.
Now, when you attempt to launch iTunes. Do you still get that error message?
If you still are having issues, then I can call in one of our iTunes experts to troubleshoot this one.

  • Program Error : Labview.exe has generated errors,,etc? Any Ideas

I keep getting this error popup titled Program Error.  The message reads, "LabView.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."
This appears to happen randomly including while a program is running, while LabView is sitting idle and even after I've closed Labview. I am running 8.0 on Windows 2000. Any ideas?

    Hello Paul,
There is actually a great online Knowledgebase that explains where you can find error logs, and I have linked it for you here. If you don't get a prompt from LabVIEW after the crash to "investigate the error" (which simply guides you through the process of submitting your error log), then you can submit your error log directly by going here and choosing "Email NI". Be sure to include a detailed description about how to reproduce the crash or what circumstances increase the frequency of crashes like this.
