ITunes freezes up when connect iPhone 6

iTunes 11.4 freezes up in y MacBook Pro when connect iPhone 6. I need to synchronize my info. Tks

I am running iTunes v12.1.1.14 on Windows 7 and I was experiencing the same problem. I found out that the issue started when uninstalling "iCloud". I do not want to use iCloud, but once I reinstalled it I could perfectly synchronize again. I hope this works out for some of you.

  • Itunes freeze PC when connecting iPhone

    Hi all,
When I start my PC from hibernation mode and open iTunes whenever I connect my Iphone to sync it, my laptop PC freezes and the only way to make it work is, hold the power button until it shuts down and then turn the laptop on.
This starting to happen when I installed the settings carrier update for the iPhone(not firmware 2.2.1)
Is anyone having the same problem????

    Hey,
Try disconnecting the other USB devices from the PC. Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a USB 2 port on the PC, using the cable that came with it.
Also, try the tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
Does iTunes have the same issue in another user account?

  • Itunes freezes up when my iphone or ipad is connected and charging for an extended time like charging over night.

Itunes freezes up when ipad or iphone is connected via USB for an extended time like charging over night or even several hours. I am running all current software with all updates on a Macbook Pro. When I hit Eject I get the spinning beachball and have to hit command-option-escape to get out of it or the beachball will stay present forever. Any suggestions?

Looks like new firmware upgrade solved this issue.

  • Device not recognized in iTunes, freezes program when connected, no sync

Problem: iPod is not shown as a device in iTunes, but is shown as a drive on the computer...when connected it shows "connected, eject to disconnect" but it stays there indefinitely and I give up after 5 minutes...sometimes I get the "scan and fix" suggestion but it can't do it because it is in use...if I just disconnect it iTunes then tells me it can't sync because it doesn't have the related file...will sync just fine to the iPhone 3GS
My iPod hasn't been synced very often but I always make sure I have the latest iTunes software version. A few months ago I got an iPhone 3GS as well, and the problems seemed to start at that point. I want the songs to be on the iPod, not the phone, however, sometimes I download songs on the phone and need to transfer them into my iTunes library. I know I can have the songs on the phone but I don't necessarily want them there, although I just totally gave up and synced them to the phone tonight so I have something to listen to at work.
So, I plug in the phone and sync it, then transfer the songs, move them to the playlist I want them in, then disconnect the phone. No problem there. Then I decide I want to sync the revised playlist onto the iPod. When I plug in the iPod, it simply displays "connected" and "eject before disconnecting." It will stay that way indefinitely until I just unplug it. Once in a while it will show "synchronizing" for a few seconds and then it goes back to "connected." It is at that time it wipes everything off the iPod but does not put anything back on it. During this time I cannot operate at ALL in iTunes - I can't click anywhere or select anything. It's totally stuck until I unplug the iPod. The device is not displayed at all in iTunes (devices isn't even shown as an option), but it is shown as a drive on my computer. Often iTunes will suggest I scan and fix the disk, which I select to do, except then it tells me it can't do it when the disk is in use. I have tried shutting everything down and rebooting. I think at some point tonight I was able to scan and fix.
I have tried all the Rs up to restore. I can't do that because I can't get iTunes to recognize the iPod is there. I have: 1) updated Windows 2) uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes; 3) moved the hold switch and pressed the center and menu buttons at the same time, 4) moved it to a different USB port. In January I went through the whole rigamarole of restoring the iPod to factory settings, although I don't even know how I did that now.
This is extremely frustrating because every time I want to update the songs on the iPod it is a 3 - 4 hour process, for something that should take 10 minutes.
Is anyone else having these types of issues? I have a feeling it relates to having both products linked to the software, although it really shouldn't be a problem.

I am having the same problem but my son's Ipod 3rd gen was stolen and it has been returned to us. Of course everything has been erased. I am having the same problems and have tried all of the same things but cannot do that reset to factory part because it isn't being recognized in the Itunes and it is not synching. Could someone please let us know what to do

  • ITunes freezes up when connecting ipod

Okay I know this was a topic a few weeks back. iTunes has been freezing up when I start it either by clicking on the icon and then connecting the ipod or when I connect my ipod first and then itunes starts up. This was apparently a problem caused by the recent upgrade. I have been prompted to upgrade to a newer version. And of course because I am posting this when I just opened itunes the prompt did not come up.
My question is will this upgrade fix the previous problem caused by the previous upgrade? I've found that if I let my ipod stay connected that somewhere between 10-40 minutes will pass and itunes will recognize it. I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Laptop.

Try the basic 5Rs from Apple Support website.

  • Preventing iTunes from launching when connecting iPhone?

I just want to put my iPhone in the cradle to charge it, not sync it or open any apps or anything else. Just charging. I have turned off the "automatic sync" feature in iTunes, so at least it doesn't sync every time i put my phone back, but I would really like to be able to not having to close iTunes all the time. It was easy fixing the auto-launch for iPhoto - is there a similar (or any, for that matter) that can fix the same thing for iTunes? Thx.
(BTW, I have all the software upgrades possible.)

There is a couple ways to accomplish this
    1. In the Summary screen uncheck automatically sync. Keep in mind you will now how to tell it when to sync.
    2. If you go to iTunes Preferences, then Syncing. You and Disable Syncing of any devices connecting to iTunes. And you will have to manually press the button to sync
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes crashes/hangs  when connecting iphone!

Hi, I wasn't sure if this was supposed go into the itunes forums so please excuse...
When I connect my iphone to my itunes it simply 'hangs' It doesn't actually crash with an error, I just can't can't select anything in itunes or scroll or anything. If I then disconnect my iphone, itunes works normal again. If my iphone is connected and I start itunes, itunes won't start. The moment I disconnect my iphone, itunes pops up immediately. I tried connecting my iphone to other pc's and laptops. Some display the same problem and others don't. I've been to apple and to T-mobile (I'm in the netherlands) and they won't give me a new phone because they can't find the problem.
I have to close Itunes via the taskmanager and re-open itunes ranging from 3-25 times before I get lucky and itunes starts, recognizes my iphone and works properly.
At first I thought that it could have been my computer but when I connect my ipod nano, itunes works just fine. I tried formatting my windows xp, different chipset drivers for my motherboard etc, none of them worked. I tried different version of itunes, different iphone firmwares, I restored a couple of times and none of it worked. I recently updated my firmware to 3.0 hoping it would solve the problem but to no avail. I tried different cables (iphone and ipod nano) and this doesn't work either. I tried different usb ports and no luck either.
The problem DEFINITELY lies with the Iphone!
This is bugging the **** out of me and I've been dealing with it for WEEKS, but I can't find the solution.
Help me please because I'm getting desperate and just want to through the phone out the window.

  • Stop iTunes popping up when connecting iPhone

    Hi,
everytime when I insert my iPhone to its cradle, iTunes pops up in front of all others screens and shows the message 'connecting to iPhone'. I make way to many calls a day while working on my Mac so this popping up gets really annoying. Is there a way to change this?
    Thanks! Naan

Yes, you have to deselect it in iTunes by going to:
iTunes > Preferences > Syncing > disable autosyncing of iPhone and iPod.

  • ITunes freezes up when syncing IPhone during "transfer" of apps to library

Updated version of ITunes to upgrade software version. After it finished, it said to restart computer...which I did. After restarting, Itunes would launch but it keeps syncing the phone with my Itunes acct. It syncs the mail, contacts and it asks to transfer apps purchased on my Iphone to my library. It said that if I don't transfer, the apps would be deleted..so I click on Transfer. But everytime, it freezes up. The phone still showing sync in progress but it does not do anything in ITunes. I've left it for a couple of hours and restarted the process several times...still does the same thing. The software version has not been upgraded on the phone. How do I get past the syncing process? I even tried not transferring the apps but it still continues on with the syncing and freezes up again.

I've had exactly the same problem. 16GB 3GS, newest OS X and iOS4. Syncing creates a never-ending lock on my entire computer system--iTunes appears to be attempting to sync the first song but it never completes. I've even left it overnight for 6 or 7 hours. This is ridiculous. Fix this, Apple.

  • Itunes becomes unresponsive when connecting iphone/going into preference

    Hi!
When I open Itunes it works fine, but it becomes completely unresponsive (doesn't crash, just stuck and does not responds) when I either connect my device (which is recognised by my PC W7 62bit) or when I try to go into preference via the edit tab (same results)
It worked flawless about a month or two ago, I didn't sync since then until this time around. Have not changed anything, and I tried restarting multiply times, waiting a few days, updating, repairing and reinstalling. What can I do?

When I open Itunes it works fine, but it becomes completely unresponsive (doesn't crash, just stuck and does not responds) when I either connect my device (which is recognised by my PC W7 62bit) or when I try to go into preference via the edit tab (same results)
A preference file may have gone bad for you. (That can produce both sorts of symptoms.)
I'd try a rebuild of the preferences files.
First, quit iTunes if you have it open.
Next, you'll need to make sure you are set up to view hidden files and folders in Vista (or 7).
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
Next, you'll rebuild the preference files. We'll do it one at a time, testing connection of devices and trying to go into the preferences after each one.
    6. In Computer, open Local Disk: C or whichever drive your documents are stored on.
    7. Open the Users folder.
    8. Open the folder with the name of the Vista user account in which Pat is getting the Books tab hang.
    9. Open the AppData folder.
    10. Open the Local folder.
    11. Open the Apple Computer folder.
    12. Drag the iTunes folder out onto the Desktop.
Now you'll rebuild the preference folder and file.
    13. Launch iTunes. This will cause iTunes to rebuild that preference folder and file. The license agreement will appear for you again. (That is expected behavior when that particular preference folder and contained file are being rebuilt.)
    14. Go "Edit > preferences, and check to see if there's a hang
    15. Attach the device and check to see if there's a hang.
If there's still a hang, you can replace the "rebuilt" iTunes pref folder with the one on the desktop again. Then we'll try rebuilding the other preference files.
    16. In Computer, open Local Disk: C or whichever drive your documents are stored on.
    17. Open the Users folder.
    18. Open the folder with the name of the Vista user account in which Pat is getting the Books tab hang.
    19. Open the AppData folder.
    20. Open the Roaming folder.
    21. Open the Apple Computer folder.
    22. Drag the iTunes folder out onto the Desktop.
Now we'll rebuild that one ...
    23. Launch iTunes. This will cause iTunes to rebuild that preference folder and file. The iTunes Setup assistant will run. (That is expected behavior when that particular preference folder and contained file are being rebuilt.) *Do not add any files when prompted to do so.* Otherwise you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.
    24. Go "Edit > preferences", and check to see if there's a hang.
    25. Attach the device, and check to see if there's a hang.
Any better luck with rebuilding the second set of preferences? (If no joy, the ones on the desktop now can be swapped out for the rebuilt (Roaming) set.

  • Itunes not responding when connecting iPhone 4s

Every time I connect my iPhone 4s to my iMac with iTunes open, iTunes stops responding. iPhoto comes up ok, but iTunes just has the coloured circle cursor and I have to force quit iTunes. i have tried reloading iTunes. iTunes won't let me send it to trash either. Help getting exasperated.
    Thanks

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

  • ITunes constantly hanging when connecting iphone

I've been unable to connect my iPhone 5s to iTunes for about a month.  My mac book air is up to date, as is my iPhone.
How do I uninstall iTunes to then enable me to reinstall to see if that helps?
If not, any other advise appreciated

  • ITunes freezing up when connecting iPad

All of a sudden whenever I connect my iPad to my computer it wont sync.  iPhoto opens & recognizes the iPad & I can see the iPad as a device in iTunes but the spinning wheel of death just keeps on spinning.
Already tried restarting the ipad, letting the battery run out and connecting it to another computer... no change. This started before I could update to the most recent iOS, so I know it is not a new software issue.
    help?

If it occurs on another computer, it must be a problem with iPad and not with iTunes. You can try to restore by placing the iPad into recovery mode. This article explains the process.

  • ITunes freezes and doesn't respond when connecting iPhone 4

Well yesterday I had the two of the most common problems that a lot of people seem to be having with iTunes after the latest update- opening iTunes and not getting my iPhone 4 to be recognized. I solved the iTunes problem last night and iPhone is now being recognized on my computer but when I connect it to my computer iTunes automatically freezes and stops responding. When I disconnect it and restart iTunes it responds again and runs smoothly like nothing happened.
When it freezes beside "iTunes Store" it says "iPhone" and it seems like it freezes while it's trying to sync my phone. I've tried restarting my computer, leaving it connected before starting iTunes, waiting until iTunes comes up to connect it, but whatever I do iTunes just won't work with my iPhone connected. Any ideas on how to fix this?
