Itunes has stoped working

Hi, I'm having the same problem as some other users - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2271002&tstart=0
I've used itunes for years without probs but the other night it started crashing.
Here is the vista problem log:
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: InPageCoFire
Error Status Code: c000009c
Faulting Media Type: 00000003
Damaged file name: browauz.ttf
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 5129
Additional Information 1: fd00

Additional Information 3: fd00
Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
here is my summary:
crashes regardless of ipod plugged in or not
I get the same error in the vista problem log every time (damaged file browauz.ttf)
itunes 9.0.2
crashes regardless of user account
I had installed ps3mediaserver during the time of the problem, so I've uninstalled that too
I downloaded and installed a new browauz.ttf - same error
I've uninstalled itunes, quicktime, went through installed apps and uninstalled all other apple products left in the system, deleted all apple related files and folders and reinstalled ... multiple times, but still the same!! (sorry moment of frustration there).
I really can't think of anything else to do.... short of reinstalling windows and that seems a right pig of a solution :/
would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Accck. Bad enough here at Northland. We've got a southern aspect, but at least we get some shelter from the Kelburn Hill ...
Font-related troubleshooting is still in its infancy (it's only been an issue really with the versions 9.x which are more tightly integrated with Windows fonts than previous versions). But we've had a couple of successes with them.
One possibility here is that it isn't actually the font file that is damaged, but rather some other aspect of the Windows font-handling machinery. If that's the case, the following two techniques might be of some help:
*(1) run a disk check over the C drive*
There's instructions in the following Microsoft document. Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors:
[Check your hard disk for errors|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-fo r-errors]
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, can you get a proper launch of iTunes?
If no joy with that ...
*(2) Try an sfc /scannow*
There's instructions on how to do that in the following Microsoft document:
[How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833]
Any better luck with that?
(At least one more thing to check on after this if we exhaust those possibilities.)

  • My computers hard drive has stoped working, how can I retrieve my Itunes library from my computer?

My computers hard drive has stoped working. How can I retrieve my itunes library? My back ups were on this hard drive as well.
When I brought my computer to be fixed they said they would retrieve photos and music and documents but loose my programs. That being said I am not sure if I will recover my music from itunes because it may fall under the program category. I support itunes by purchasing from itunes, but now i am in a position where i may loose years of purchassing music and it has me feeling a little bit sick to be honest...the stress this is causing is really big. DÙoes anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
    Help is appreciated, thank you.

If the data is recoverable from the drive then they should have recovered the entire iTunes folder which includes the library database. Restore this into the <User's Music> folder of a replacement system, install iTunes, and it should be as before.
See also  Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Even if you don't have one there should be some useful links...

  • HT1689 I can reach the iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, but it will not open on my PC running Windows 7.  Message shows that iTunes has stopped working.  This happens every time.  I have updated iTunes Software.  Will not solve the problem.  What is wrong

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded.  When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
              iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up.  The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
              "Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details.  When clicked a long list of items show up.  I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them.  I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version.  How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
         "Problem signature:  APPCRASH
         Application Name:     iTunes.exe
         Application Version:  11.0.1.12
         Application Timestamp:  50c8fc7e"

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.
    Anthony

  • Can't get itunes.  I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program.  It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program  I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working.  My two options are:  Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there.  If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works.  Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.
    Thanks

  • ITunes has stopped working ...Running Windows 7(64)

I upgraded my home PC Desktop to Windows 7 earlier this year and had no trouble bringing over iTunes from my previous platform (Windows XP).
I recently returned home to the US from a work assignment out of the country and because my iTunes resides on my home PC desktop, I didn't open up iTunes for the past 6 weeks.  During this time Apple released iTunes 10.5. When I returned home, the old version of iTunes was still working. However, when I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, iTunes stopped working. The error message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have worked through the following knowlege bulletins (nothing has fixed my problem):
(a)" iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues"
    (b) "iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins"
    (c) "iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio"
    (d) "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows vista or Windows 7"
    (e) "iTunes for Windows: system restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store"
the last bulletin (e), recommended ensuring that my drivers were up-to-date. So I also updated my drivers.
Lastly, I contacted iTunes Store Customer Support (although my problem isn't with the store, it is upgraded iTunes running on windows 7). They told me the issue was "outside (their) expertise" and recommended I look at this discussion board.

It seems that I am not alone in having this problem!  Are there any experts out there who want to earn the undying gratitude of the technically challenged (or a few expert points?)
    Thanks for listening,
    Theresa
PS - someone recommended uninstalling Apple Quick Time Player.  I don't have Quick Time Player.

I had the same problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. This solution only partially worked for me. I still couldn't connect to the iTunes store.
The following solution worked for me:
    COPY    QTMovieWin.dll
    FROM    c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
    INTO     c:\program files (x86)/iTunes

  • Every time I try to import a CD I get "iTunes has stopped working"

I updated to the new 9.0.3.15 version of ITunes a couple of weeks back and ever since I have not been able to import CD's?
It seems it works with every else syncing etc but not importing CD's.
Every time I try to import a CD it will start then within a few seconds I get the message "iTunes has stopped working" and another message saying Windows is looking for a solution.
I have tried going into Control Panel and Programs and repairing the installation but no luck.
Anyone know how I can fix this.

I can see messages for other programs that have had issues but nothing for iTunes.
    Hmmmm.
Maybe try provoking the error another two or three times, taking a careful note of the time showing on the PC. Now head back into the Action Center. Is there a problem report for any application or operating system component that appears regularly at the same time as the iTunes errors?
If so, paste a copy of a typical error report for that in a reply. (Fingers crossed that might get us a bit closer to understanding what is afoot.)

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • I am running windows 7. My itunes keep shutting down on me. I keep getting the message itunes has stopped working What can I do?

I keep getting the message itunes has stopped working. A problem has caused itunes to stop working correctly. What can be the cause?

    Hello Main Event,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I found this article while researching iTunes quitting unexpectedly on Windows 7 and feel it will help to resolve the issue here.
iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
It starts with troubleshooting 3rd party plug ins, then moves on to account troubleshooting if needed.
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any inference with plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
After clicking Continue, determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you see the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the Create a New User Account section below. If you do not experience the same issue, consult iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-insfor steps on how to remove third-party plug-ins.
    Take care,
    Sterling
