ITunes Home Sharing No Longer Auto-Plays On The iPad?

I have my movies on an external G-Drive connected to my Mac with FireWire.
iTunes has Home sharing on using an Airport Extreme.  On the iPad when I select
the Shared Tab, my movie collection cover art begins to load as normal.  Then I
Select a movie and the cover art is displayed on the right and the movie info on the
left.
The problem is when I select the play button from that screen. The iPad screen goes
black and nothing else happens?
If I tap on the black iPad screen the movie controllers then pop up and if I hit play then
it begins to play.  It used to play automatically right after I selected play from the splash screen.
Any suggestions?

It appears that the buffering is taking an unsual longer time to load everything and this may be preventing the auto play from playing the movie as instant as possible.
I also noticed that if I go to edit a movie file on itunes it is taking a bit longer for the selected file to pop up for my edit.

  • ITunes Home Sharing No Longer Working Under Lion

Home Sharing is no longer working between Lion and my Apple TV or iPhone. I am able to watch Netflix through my Apple TV (2nd Gen) so I do have connectivity. I have restarted both devices, and updated iTunes to 10.4. Under "Advanced" in iTunes, Home Sharing is turned on. In Preferences in iTunes under Sharing, it says Status: On, no users connected, even though my Apple TV is connected to the network.
Is this problem isolated, or are others experiencing the same issue?

I'm up and running. Spoke with Apple and they had me go to : preferences, network and create a new location. That seems to have reset something. I had to reset all my devices back to my main network that had stopped working. The guest network will not let Home Sharing work, only the main network.
Others have been able to use Home Sharing without clicking "Done" after typing in their password. After you click "Done" the Shared disappears in iTunes.

  • ITunes Home Sharing No Longer Allows File Transfers between Apple IDs???

It used to be that if my wife purchased a song in iTunes with her Apple ID, I would seemlessly and automatically get a copy of the song downloaded to my iTunes account with my Apple ID via the Home Sharing functionality.  Has this functionality been removed?? It seems that the only thing I can do now is stream the music she's purchased when I'm home, but I'm no longer able to download my a copy to play on my own iOS devices.
I've made sure that both of our computers are re-authorized, and home sharing is active, but no luck.

I have checked that home sharing etc are switched on. Any suggestions?  Thanks

What exactly does this have to do with iTunes for Windows, the forum to which you've posted?

  • Home Sharing no longer works between iTunes and Apple TV.

I've been through all the forums, tried all the solutions provided and I have come to the conclusion that Home Sharing just no longer works between iTunes on a PC and my Apple TV.  Does anyone know if this issue will be addressed or should I list my Apple TV up on eBay?  (along with my iPad, iPod, and iPhone, since all system no longer sync together as before.)
    My issue:
My iTunes library is no longer listed under "Computers" on the Apple TV.
The airplay icon no longer shows up in iTunes. (Version 11)
I cannot play music/content from my iPhone or iPad via remote that is stored in my iTunes library through my Apple TV.
I can however play music/content that is stored locally on my iPhone and iPad through my Apple TV.
My firewall settings are allowing access to Apple TV.
After logging into my router, I see no issues there.
I've logged in/out, turned home sharing on/off, de-authorized/authorized, and restarted my PC, Apple TV, and Router.
All devices are logged into the same iTunes account, and are on the same wireless network.
    Time for a solution Apple.

If you turn off wifi on your  Computer and connect it to the apple tv using an ethernet cable can you see your library under computers in Apple TV.
If yes the issue is with your wifi not the Apple TV

    iTunes Home Sharing Not Working
Not working and sometimes when it is working, it cuts out in the middle, or when you click on the computer name, the focus goes away from the library.  In other words, really weird.
    What it is
iTunes has a feature called "Home Sharing" - it basically allows you to share your entire or part of your library with other instances of iTunes in your home network.  It requires you to login to your iTunes account on both computers.  A typical scenario is to enable Home Sharing on your desktop machine and then access the library from your iPad, Apple TV, iPhone, Mac, etc.
In my case, I have iTunes on my desktop machine running Windows XP in the attic with Home Sharing enabled and then I access the library from my Macbook and Apple TV, depending on what I want.  How to use Home Sharing can be found here.
    Symptoms
Home Sharing machine not showing up in Apple TV or the Macbook
The Macbook home sharing not showing up on my desktop
    Home Sharing working intermittently
    Connections getting cut of intermittently
Usually, restarting iTunes or the desktop computer will make things work.
Sometimes, restarting the Macbook or the Apple TV will make things work.
    The "working" doesn't last long
The FixOn the desktop computer where the Home Sharing is enabled, I disabled the "QoS Packet Scheduler" from the network connection:
    Open Control Panel
    Open Network Connections
Right-Click on your connection (in my case, it was "Wireless Network Connection 4"
    Select Properties
    Uncheck "QoS Packet Scheduler"
    Click OK
    Restart iTunes if necessary
After doing the above, Home Sharing worked like a charm.

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

  • Home sharing no longer shows up on my macbook pro iTunes.

Home sharing no longer shows up on my macbook pro iTunes. Our main computer is a Dell desktop that is authorized for home sharing. My macbook has also turned on home sharing, but the home computer does not show up. How exactly does home sharing work? Must you be in the same area to be able to use this feature or connected to the same network?

you will need both computer have itunes turned on and you will need a wifi for them to work.

  • Home Sharing - no longer able to stream videos to iPads

I have an iMac running latest update to Snow Leopard ( 10.6.7 ), latest version of iTunes ( 10.2.2 ), an iPad 2 running 4.3.3, an iPad 1 running 4.3.2, and an Apple TV 2.  Home Sharing is enabled for all of the devices.
I have no issues whatsoever with the ATV2 - works like a champ when streaming anything from the iMac.
However, I can no longer stream movies to either of the iPads and unfortunately am not sure when it stopped working.  I am able to stream music through the iPod app without a problem though.
I launch the videos app, select Shared, selected my imac library, and browse the movies.  I have noticed that some of the titles don't match the movie and when I select a movie to play, I just get a never-ending spinning wheel.  This behavior occurs on both ipads.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated as it is a bit annoying!
    tia,
    Bill

After more investigation, I found the issue.
I was able to stream ripped movies, but not movies that were purchased through iTunes.  This led me to believe the issue was with DRM and authentication.  So even though my Home Sharing credentials appeared to be okay on the iPads, re-entering the password on both fixed the problem!

  • ITunes Home Sharing with iOS 4.3

I have a MacBook Pro, 1st and 2nd generation Apple TV, iPhone 3GS, and 3rd Generation iPod Touch (yeah, BIG fan of Apple!). When I bought the 2nd generation Apple TV I was able to setup Home Sharing on my MacBook Pro and the new Apple TV. According to Apple's website, with iOS 4.3, you can now share your entire iTunes library on any mobile device running iOS 4.3. On my iPhone 3GS, I went into settings and turned on Home Sharing. However, when I trying to get a video that is playing in iTunes on my MacBook Pro and get it to play on my iPhone 3GS, I am only seeing the option of either the computer or 2nd generation Apple TV.

Home Sharing is not a 'push' feature it is a 'pull' feature.
By that I mean that you cannot push content from iTunes to your mobile devices.
What you do is pull the content from iTunes onto the mobile device.
You are confusing AirPlay (which pushes content) with Home Sharing (which pulls content).
On the mobile device go into the iPod App and then into the ... (more menu) at the bottom, you should see the Shared option, pick this and it will allow you to select the iTunes library. You can then stream content from it (pull).

  • Why can't I import songs from iTunes Home Sharing?

I have two Macs - mine and my dad's. Both computers have Home Sharing on and we are using the same iTunes Account.
We are able to see and play each other's music, but cannot import any songs.
Where other people seem to see a Home Share icon (the house), we only have blue playlist symbols.
    Any ideas?

Restart both of your computers, and restart your Internet modem. Then try again. It may just be a glitch.

  • Video playlists no longer auto-playing (4.3)

I've noticed that my music video playlists no longer auto-play from one song to the the next with the latest OS update (iPhone 4.3, Apple TV 4.2). Basically, a music video stops and the next one doesn't start until I press play again.
    Any solutions?

    I have the same problem.
I am using an iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3) and various Apple TVs (4.2).
When i start a playlist with music videos from the iTunes store, the first video will be played on the Apple TV and then Apple TV plays this Video again but "repeat" is not selected. Actually the next clip in the list shut be played. Seems to be a bug :-(

  • Home sharing no longer working on iPhone 3G(s)

I have an iPhone 3G(s) running 5.0.1 and iTunes 10.5.3
My MacBook Pro is running 10.5.8
Here is the issue. Up until about a few weeks ago, I never had an issue with Home Sharing. I always just turned on my MacBook Pro and loaded iTunes, plugged my iPhone into my TV and picked a movie or TV show and watched it via Home Sharing. It worked out just fine.
Now I am finding that it is not working the way it is supposed to anymore. I can still stream my music just fine via home sharing, but none of my videos will share anymore. They will either just sit at a black screen doing nothing or when I try to load a video it will crash the video app on my iPhone. It is really aggrivating.
I have power cycled the iPhone and reset it. I have restarted iTunes and my computer a few times. Turned Home Sharing off and on. Deauthorized the computer and re-authorized it. Reset my router. It seems that Nothing I do will let me stream my movies to my iPhone anymore.
If anyone can assist me I would appreciate it.
    Thank You

I finally conceded and restored my iPhone and it appears to work for now. But if anyone else encounters this issue and finds a fix that does not involve restoring, I would be happy to hear it in the event this happens again. I hate restoring my phone because it takes so long to re-sync all of my information back to it.

  • Apple TV 4.4.4 Home Sharing no longer working over ethernet

My ATV home network setup has gone from working well to not at all over the last few days and I am trying to troubleshoot it, looking for folks with similar experiences.  This appeared to start on or around the time I did the 4.4.4 update, though it could be unrelated, because at that time I also switched my main home sharing server from an old Windows laptop to an old Mac Mini I just aquired for that purpose (which is a sweet little machine for $250 btw).
Situation is, with the ATV connected via ethernet, it no longer sees any home sharing servers, that are on ethernet or wifi.  It is also not available for airplay for any devices on wifi. This was working fine with the PC iTunes server on ethernet a few days ago.
If I connect both the ATV and Mac Mini iTunes server via wireless, it all works fine (but performace can suffer).  Something has changed, as the ATV on ethernet was also fine to access my macbook on the wireless network a few days ago, but again it doesn't unless the ATV is on wireless too.  Finally, the remote app on my iPhone will also only see the ATV if it is on wifi.  To me it is like Bonjour is not working over the ethernet connection. I have done a little port prodding, and this appears to be the case, but it is not conclusive.
I have reset, restored to factory and re-updated the ATV, turned home sharing on and off a 100 times, cylcled the servers, reinstalled iTunes, all sorts of stuff.
Honestly, I would more likely put the blame on something weird with the wired vs wifi network routing on my XFinity router/modem, if not for the fact that I haven't touched it for months (save a few power cycles) and I just updated the ATV when this went south.  I tried to ask Comcast about this issue, but that was like trying to explain quantum physics to the cat...
I've seen at least one other thread on this forum similar, was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of trouble since the 4.4.4 update?
    Thanks

Any news or updates in your Home Sharing problem? I am experiencing similar issues as well. I have turned on Home Sharing in two of my PCs, and my Apple TV 2 cannot see both of my PCs. I have the Remote application installed on my iPad 1, and it suddenly stopped working as well. The Remote application cannot see both of my PCs and Apple TV 2 anymore. I have also noticed that AirPlay does not work anymore as the AirPlay icon does not appear when I am watching videos on my iPad 1.
Home Sharing and AirPlay used to work the day before I have updated my Apple TV 2 to version 4.4.4. I have tried restarting, resetting the settings and restoring the Apple TV 2, and it did not resolve my issue. I have also tried disabling/enabling the Home Sharing in both of my PCs, and it also did not resolve my issue. I am leading to believe that the Apple TV 2 update to version 4.4.4 had something to do with my issue.

  • Issues with iTunes Home Sharing using iPhone 6 Plus

    Hi guys,
I'm having problems with streaming music and video on my iPhone 6 plus from my Macbook Pro (mid 2010 model) using iTunes' Home Sharing . I am able to stream without any issues using my iPhone 4S and my Apple TV, however.
I am using iTunes version 12.0.1.26, iOS 8.1.2, and OSX 10.9.5.
Using my 6 plus, I am able to connect to my iTunes library, both music and video. Album art shows up for music but no cover art for the videos. So, all in all, I am able to see the contents of my library.
However, when I try to play songs, a couple things may happen. First, nothing plays for about 10 seconds; then a second or two of the song plays followed by silence again, appearing as if it's buffering. Second thing that may happen is that a second or two plays immediately followed by silence. If I press next to play the next song, what usually happens is that nothing plays, although the song title does appear.
As seen in this video, I don't have any issues with my WIFI connection or internet speed, as demonstrated using the iPhone 4S and Apple TV.
I have no clue as to why this is happening.
Hopefully someone could shed some light with this issue. Please feel free to comment. I'm open to and appreciate any suggestions while Apple tries to find a solution. Thanks.

    UPDATE
So, after working with the guys at Apple, they were able to provide a solution.  Now I have no problems using Home Sharing with my iPhone 6 Plus!!!
(I should add that I have the Linksys Advanced Dual-Band N Router (E2500))
The issue was fixed by giving one of the wi-fi channels a different name, thus splitting the channels into 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.  Then, I connected my iPhone to one channel (2.4 GHz) and my MacBook Pro to the other channel (5GHz).  In this configuration, I have had no issues streaming my music and video.
It seems that the problem is some kind of interference between both devices when using the same channel (i.e., when both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channel share the same name).
