ITunes installation failure

I was trying to update my copy of iTunes to 10.1 but during the installation process the following error message appears.
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053", type="win32", publickeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", process or Architecture="x86". Please refer to help and support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F
I have uninstalled iTunes and all associated elementsand attempted to re-install them but this message appears everytime. I have installed Quicktime separately which is fine, but iTunes still will not install.
If anyone has any ideas I would be awfully grateful!
Hannah

This was suggested in Microsoft's support forums; it might work for you:
Ckeck if the "Windows Modules Installer" service is started. If not, try to start it from the services console. If you receive an error "1450 Insufficient System resources" error, then follow this steps:
1) Open regedit and replace the following value:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
Key: RegistrySizeLimit
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0xFFFFFF (4294967295)
2) Reboot
3) Open a command prompt as administrator and run SFC /SCANNOW to check the integrity of system modules.
4) Install pending windows updates
with this additional explanation:
"If you open your registry editor (regedit) you should see a series of folders down the left hand side. One of them is called "HKEYLOCALMACHINE"
if you double click on that folder there should be a subfolder "System" and in that a subfolder "CurrentControlSet" and in that a subfolder "Control"
Then on the right hand side there should be a series of files, one of them called "registry size limit". If you double click on that it should open up a small window where you can manually change the value. I did this by entering the letter "F" 8 times. Once I clicked okay, the number in brackets (4294967295) changed automatically. I then clicked okay, exited regedit and restarted my computer. I was then able to dowload itunes."
Hope this helps.

I am having an installation failure issue with my itunes 11 software.  File is corrupted and i don't know what to do.  I've un-install and re-installed the software three times and continue to get the same error message.  It states that "This copy of ITunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall Itunes"

I went a step further than before and got itunes running again.
The Updater had also installed Quicktime.
I launched quicktime, it appeared to be configuring and then launched. Then when I run Itunes now it is working...
Hope this is your problem also.

  • Itunes installation failure, error code 80070246

I was attempting to upgrade to the latest I tunes version, unfortunately the installation stops during the publishing product information stage. I am using Windows Vista, home edition 32 bit.
While searching the help topics I have tried uninstalling itunes, quicktime, apple software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour and would have uninstalled apple application support if it showed up.
After rebooting and attempting to reinstall (with another failure) I tried running Microsoft fix-it basic and advanced because I came across this fix in another article for this error code. Now not only can I not install Itunes, no updates show up in the history for Windows Update and when I run Windows Update it also fails with another error code 80080005.
After spending 2 days working on this I am worse off than I was when I started, does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do next?

A quick search of the error code shows a VBScript error. Perhaps this could help:

    HI,
If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)
Just a friendly advise and warning :-)

  • Windows Installer failure during download of iTunes 10.5.  Why is this happening?

I'm trying to update to the newest version of iTunes, and I get all the way through the process until the very end.  I then get a message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A Program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."   I checked to be sure I an up to date with all of my Microsoft updates, so I don't think that is the problem.  Tried to download a couple of times, and keep getting this message.  Not very tech-minded, so maybe I'm skipping an important step, but I have loaded newer versions in the past with no problem.  Help, please!

Go to 'Apple Software Update' in Add or Remove Programs icon in your Control Panel. Select Change, then Repair. Then rerun the iTunes installation.

  • ITunes installation error- see error messages and please help!

Today I tried to update to the latest version of iTunes, but had problems during installation.  It looks like iTunes and Quicktime were sucessfully installed but some of the other installation files didn't get downloaded. (I am competent with computers, but definitely not a techie!)  There were three things on the installing window that came up, and if I remember correctly, the top one had a red x and the bottom two had green checks.
I have tried repairing my iTunes installation several times, getting all the windows updates for my computer, and repairing the microsoft.net 4 thing that was suggested in another forum.  And of course, restarted my computer a bunch of times with all that.  I am at the point now where I guess I have to completely uninstall and reinstall?
When I click on iTunes, I get this message:
    The procedure entry point
AVCFPlayerItemDurationChangedNotification could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll.
Then I click ok and I get this message:
iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 127).

+My next problem is, that whenever I plug my iPod Nano, 3rd Gen into my PC, it shuts down and reboots. Any ideas on this one?+
Do you also get that if you try playing a movie using QuickTime?
Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC shuts down? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x{zeros/letters/numbers} CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
If you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Strange iTunes Installer Problem, Need Serious Help

I just recently had no choice but to do a destructive recovery of my pc. I am now re-downloading all of my old software and I got to iTunes. I can download the installer just fine. But when I try to run the installer, after opening it and clicking run, I get the hour glass for about 40 seconds, then I get "iTunes Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." iTunes is a necessity for me, so can someone please help me?

But when I try to run the installer, after opening it and clicking run, I get the hour glass for about 40 seconds, then I get "iTunes Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Yes, that's quite a rare one conor. It seems to be associated with "silent" installer failures, and the "invalid signature" and "unknown publisher" error messages. In those cases, most often the installers seem to have been getting damaged during the download to the PC.
Checking on simpler possibilities first. Have you been downloading the installer from the Apple website?
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If so, does it make any difference if you do the download with (say) Firefox rather than IE (or vice versa)?

  • ITunes installer won't work

    First, sorry for my English.
I'm having an issue installing iTunes after format my computer (using ORIGINAL Windows 7 Home Premium, wich worked fine with iTunes before the format).
I've downloaded the last iTunes version from Apple site, but when I try to open the installer, but then its loading for 2 secs and then nothing is happen.
Please help me, I can't sync my iPhone!!

I save the Itunes download to my computer then when I hit install it looks like it is getting ready to install then stops...nothing happens.
A "silent" installer failure like that is usually caused by the installer getting damaged when it is being downloaded to the PC. (It's sort of an extreme case of an "Unknown Publisher" or "Invalid Signature" message.)
What browser have you been using for the download? Does it make any difference if you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa)?

  • Problems with iTunes installation

    Hello,
I am having problems with installing iTunes 10.4. I am running an Acer Aspire M1640 running Windows Vista (32) v 6.0.6002 SP2 and updated.
When trying to update my old version of iTunes I got the following error
"Bonjour: The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK or enter an alternate pathway to a folder containing the installation package 'Bonjour msi' in the box below."
When I tried OK I got a repeat of the error and when I tried "Browse" this produced an unintelligble list of files.
I then went to the Apple iTunes installation problems and followed the instructions there.
Firstly I managed to delete the majority of the files in the Tenp folder and then uninstalled the old iTunes and made sure that Windows was updated.
I tried downloading a new version of iTunes from the Apple download site but on attempting to install it I ended up with the same error.
Can anybody out there offer any help with this as I am currently without my iTunes

    Hi again,
I have just posted an answer to my problem on a "more like this" discussion that I found on Apple Support Communities. So far I have managed to install iTunes and QuickTime in the way b noir suggests on this post.
It is early days but so far so good.

  • ITunes installer installs wrong folder.

Installer installs iTunes.msi in folder IXP729.TMP in Local Settings/Temp on XP SP3 English, then complains it can't find Local Settings/IXP694.TMP/iTunes.msi, which doesn't exist.  I navigate to iTunes.msi in the folder it just created, IXP729.TMP but it comes up with some sort of error, then when the installer cancels it deletes that folder.  I tried copying the folder while it did exist, then running iTunes.msi directly from it, but it still stops with the same error, that it can't find the non-existant folder.  This is a continuing problem--I tried updating to the previous version a couple of months ago and the same thing happened.  Plus, the installer and errors are in Japanese, although my OS is English and I selected to install the program in English in a stage of installation before the problem.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks, turingtest2.  That didn't work, but it helped.  You made me realize I had the problem backwards--the new installer wasn't looking for something it had just created and misplaced, it was looking for the previous installer, which had been deleted (if the error message had been in English I'd have been able to read it).  MS Program Install and Uninstall Utility also didn't work--gave the exact same error message, that it couldn't find the previous iTunes.msi installer, so it couldn't uninstall the previous version.  Once I knew the problem, I found the solution online--Microsoft's old Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, which they discontinued but is still available at Major Geeks.  Used that to uninstall the old (along with all the obvious ancillary files, plus bonjour and quicktime), deleted the program folders from Program Files, rebooted, then the iTunes installer worked (oddly, it even kept my old settings and playlists somehow).
If anyone at Apple is reading this, PLEASE give us the option to choose the language of the installer we download.  I went to the English apple.com site and entered my country as USA, but because I'm in Japan at the moment the installer was in Japanese.

  • ITunes installation error: does not have program associated with it for performing this action

Repeated tries to install iTunes continues to fail. Installing on Acer laptop using Windows 7.
Error: does not have program associated with it for performing this action

  • Itunes Installs Correctly But wont open new development

Hello I posted previously about this same problem. Here is a quick review:
have downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows XP and I installed it correctly yet when I attempt to open it the hourglass appears for a second and then disappears and no iTunes. I tried to open it with the process list in front of me and saw that it indeed opens but then disappears off the list. Please help. I do not have any firewalls running, am an administrator on my computer, have tried uninstalling-reinstalling several time on different Windows accounts but nothing has worked.
Quicklime launches fine. No error messages or anything
    no firewall
Ok now something new has happened. I downgraded to Itunes 6 so I could still listen to my music and it has run fine until a few minutes ago when I attempted to open it and this appeared:
Also as you can see my entire library is gone (not the music but within itunes)
From what I can conclude it seems my previous Itunes library has interfered with the new one perhaps... But why are there Japanese symbols in the message?
One explanation might be that in the previous I tunes I had songs with Japanese names but I am unsure. Please help.
    Thank You

good lord ... maybe it was a library file problem all along with the 7.0.x install? (i don't usually think of them as producing error-message-free itunes launch failures ... but we checked everything else that it seemed like it could be.)
perhaps try doing a library file recreation, as per the following document:
How to recreate your iTunes Library
do you get your library back?
if so (if you're so inclined), perhaps try another 7.0.x install ... do you get a proper launch of itunes 7.0.2 after the install (with the fresh library file in place)?

  • Itunes installs but won't open. HELP!

    Hey
So I was really pumped about the new itunes version, so I installed the new one and double clicked on the new icon to open it up.
    Nothing happens.
I've since uninstalled everything (itunes and quicktime), gotten rid of the old itunes folder, and reinstalled everything (once together, once with itunes and quicktime seperately). Still no luck. My icons are now all the new blue ones (for music files and for the itunes icon). But the process just won't start. My task manager registers itunes.exe as running for about five seconds, and then the process drops off the list.
    Any suggestions????

the way that itunes.exe disappears after a few seconds in Task Manager suggests malware. (that's how itunes.exe used to behave for folks with earlier versions of itunes who were getting "error message free" itunes launch failures caused by a Qoologic adware infestation.)
so let's see if we can catch something like that. download the free trial version of Ewido, and scan the PC. does that pick up anything? if so, does itunes launch afterwards?
