Itunes: Itunes.exe File damaged == HELP ME!

When i conect my iPod to itunes, it say me that a itunes file is damaged (\iPod_Control) and it say to do a "CHKDSK"

Your iTunes installation might be damaged. You need to re-install iTunes.
Go to START > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall iTunes from the Add/Remove Programs list.
Then download the latest version from this website (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) and install it.
Hope that helps.

  • Help... iTunes Library file damaged

Since moving some files to defrag my hard disk, I now get the following error message when I run iTunes:
The file "iTunes Library .itl" does not appear to be a valid iTunes library file. iTunes has attempted to recover your iTunes library and renamed this file to "iTunes Library (Damaged) x .itl [where x is 1,2,3,etc]
This is happening every time I try to run iTunes so there are a series of the damaged files in iTunes folder and each time I run iTunes there is a new set of Audiobooks, Music, etc. playlists in iTunes.
    Can anyone help??
    Thanks
Dell Latitude D600   Windows XP Pro   iPod 20Gb

Earlier this month, my entire iTunes library disappeared from my Mac G5.
There were more than 50 songs I purchased on iTunes, plus more than 1,000 from my own CD collection as well as some original songs I wrote using GarageBand.
The songs were displayed on the iTunes rundown, but when I clicked to play, a prompt told me that it was unable to find the song.
Multiple searches were fruitless and the iTunes folder shows none of these songs to exist.
Much of these same songs are still on my iPod.
A few of the iTunes-purchased songs are also on my Mac G4 Powerbook.
The difference between the G5 and G4 is that I’ve not upgraded the latest iTunes version on the PowerBook…however in late March, I did upgrade on the G5.
No other new applications have been added to any of my computers since around the first of the year.
So I am asking you and everyone else (especially the Aplle people):
How can I recover those songs I bought from iTunes?
    Why did this happen?
Have other Mac users experienced this?
Is there a flaw in the new iTunes version?

  • ITunes Library File Damaged; How Do I Get My Playlists Back?

My PowerMac G4 was in Sleep mode, and the power went out in my house for two seconds. iTunes was open when the computer went down as was Stickies. Upon starting up my computer, I found all of my Stickies memos were gone, but worst of all, I got a window telling me the iTunes library was damaged, so I had to go through a new iTunes setup. After iTunes found all of my music files (nearly 10,000 songs), I now have all the songs retrieved but my hundreds of playlists are gone. My 80Gig iPod still has all of the playlists, but of course, if I sync it with my computer, I'll lose them from the iPod. Is there any way to get my playlists back without having to go through the arduous task of creating them all over again in iTunes? Help (And thanks in advance to anyone who can offer me some enlightenment...)

Do you have a backup of your library files?

  • Itunes exe file wont install

    Hi,
Two days ago I formatted my pc (Windows 7 Professional 32bit) & have been going through the process of downloading & installing various programmes online. I've installed half a dozen or so & have got to iTunes. Visited apple.com to download the latest version, but everytime I double click, or 'run as adminastrator, nothing happens..?
Restarted PC, turned off firewall & done Windows update, numerous times now & still nothing.
I finally had the bright idea of downloading Quicktimeinstaller, which was no problem, this then presented me with the option to download iTunes. This I did but the file gets half way through the download & I get "iTunes has an invalid signature. It will not be installed"
I'm pulling my hair out now, can anyone help? I have no previous iTunes installed as hard drive was wiped & every other program I've downloaded has istalled 1st time.
    Many thanks

OK after hours of my time & a significant loss of hair, I've managed to download it...!!!!
All I did was went to:
    http://http://www.dkszone.net/itunes-10-1-download-supports-ios-4-2-airplay
and downloaded iTunes 10.1 (older version) this came down as the normal setup.exe file and installed to my PC, as soon as you open and run this version of iTunes it will inform you of an updated version 10.6. Just hit the install and go...
    IT WAS THAT SIMPLE
I hope this will help others NOT to waste precious time, as I did..!

  • ITunes Library File "Damaged"???

Recently, I opened iTunes and it said that my iTunes Libary File was damaged, so it had to create a new blank one, meaning that, iTunes opened, and I had no songs. I had to go to my iTunes Music Folder and drag the whole folder into the Libary window in iTunes. I tried restarting and reopening the program, but each time I have to do the same thing. Is there some reason why the file would be damaged? If so, is there a way I can recreate it?

honestly, I'm very happy overall with my MacBook. I'm sure I vented in the forums here more than I should have
My problems today were the result of the last Security Update, I'm sure and it's seems I'm not alone. Also, I'm sure Apple will address it as soon as they can. After too many kernel panics (one of which when I had iTunes open and updating my iPod) resulted in the broken library. But, I've lost my library before in a similar fashion. I wish Apple would give us some utilities to do maintenance on our libraries and even replicate them across multiple machines without needing a .Mac account!
    Oh well!

  • My macbook won't open any .exe files! help!

Whenever I download an .exe file, my macbook automatically opens it with my photoshop cs3 program--it's really irritating me because many programs that I NEED (for school and such) are .exe files and I can't figure out which application to use to open it.
    Any suggestions?

.exe files are Windows applications with a few exceptions that are self-extracting compressed files. You'll need to be running Windows in your system, via a virtualization system (such as Parallels Workstation or VMWare Fusion) or BootCamp to use Windows applications.

  • Hi my iTunes exe file disappeared and when I went through the troubleshooting it said to set up a new, which I did. I have had nothing but pain and grief since doing so?

  • \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB, file damaged

I have a problem with my mini ipod, maybe anybody knows what to do or is it broken??
    my computer shows:
"file or list \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB is damged and not readable.conduct CHKDSK"
is this a ipod problem or pc problem? or has it to do with the fact maybe that i updated the software??
all music from my ipod is gone and i m not able to get the music from my library to the ipod because then the above fault message appears.
    I am grateful for help....

chkdsk is "check disk" program which you have to run it under dos command. I did try and found there were problems with file / directory structure within ipod. However, this did not fixed the problem.
So nextthing I did was the restore the ipod to factory default setting. That just cured all the problems I had!!!

  • My itunes.exe file will not load itunes...not getting any error message

Need help with troubleshooting this problem. Looked at forum, have tried to repair itunes with the update feature.
Quiktime will load. Anyone have any suggestions?

    hmmmmmm.
okay, your call if you're happy with your 4.x ... but it's also worth checking on this possibility with the itunes 6.0.x with your set of symptoms. (NIS 2005 was the overwhelmingly likely suspect, but there are a few other possibilities to check on.)
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
... persisting with this, because sometimes an itunes 6.0.x error-message-free launch failure can be a bit of a barometer of other problems on a PC. (after the Norton thing and this thing, the most likely suspects are malware infections ... so i'm a wee bit worried for your PC.)
    love, b

  • Corrupted iTunes xml file. HELP!

Somehow my xml file got corrupted. So, whenever opening iTunes now, I get an error message about this and then there is no correct sync to my AppleTV. furthermore, it is creating directories in my AppleTV window (duplicating them i mean). My AppleTV now reports no files on it, etc.
I have searched for an xml file in iTunes in programs director, but no luck. anyone know what to do? seems like i need to destroy corrupted file and start over, but really not sure what to do. tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, but this did nothing. thanks!

The central file to everything is the library.itl file in your Music > iTunes folder.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to that file.  If you're lucky then it will be the one you need.  If not then it is hard to determine where the file might be.  Normally an update should not affect something like the iTunes library but if your file directory was having issues (did you verify with Disk Utility first?) then who knows?  This is why one backs up before installing system software updates.
If you have a backup then let us know.  You may be able to rescue a copy of the iTunes Library.itl from that and replace the bad copy in your iTunes folder.
Since your media are scattered about it may be a painstaking task adding them all again but it may come down to that.  Again, back up...
