ITunes Match gone wrong! Wiped all my music!

Just purchased iTunes Match to find that it has wiped all of my non-purchased music from my iPhone! Now all I have left in my phone and cloud is purchased songs! Can I fix this?! What went wrong - I followed the guide!!

Has the initial scan, match and upload process finished in iTunes? If not simply disable iTM on the iPhone, wait for it to complete then re-enable the service on the iPhone and all the music will be available.

    Hello gogreenj14,
If you had iTunes Match updated with all of your non iTunes purchased content already, then yes, when you enable iTunes Match with the following article it will have all the content that has been uploaded to iTunes Match will be available for download.
iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913
Open the latest version of iTunes on the computer you intend to add. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Sign in with the Apple ID you use with iTunes Match.
Choose Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
Click the Add This Computer button.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
iTunes will automatically begin scanning your computer's library for matches.
A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume the process at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button.
Once iTunes has completed matching and uploading your iTunes library, your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • ITunes Match is on but all my music is on iPhone?

    Hi,
I've subscribed to iTunes Match, and successfully matched all my music.  However, when I turn on iTunes Match on my iPhone, all my music is still on my phone.  I've tried syncing my iPhone to iTunes a few times.  However, when the sync is done each time, none of the songs on my phone have the iCloud icon next to them.  The usage meter in iTunes for the iPhone shows it has all the music still on it.  Finally, when I turn on Airplane Mode, I can still play any song on.  Can someone tell me what step I've missed to get iTunes Match to work on my iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Jason Mazzotta

On your phone, go to Settings -> Music.  At the top, there should be a switch to turn iTunes Match on and off.  Once you turn it on, it should give you a notice that doing so will erase all music on the device.  Tell it that's fine, and then it'll activate it.  To see everything you have, and not just what's on the phone, make sure to set the "Show All Music" switch to On once it appears.
If you're still having trouble, try hitting the Settings button in the top left and then go back into the Music settings and ensure the option took.  I had to do this 3-4 times the first time I checked it after turning on iTunes Match.

  • ITunes Match does not list all my music before signing up. Only the ones i've purchased thru itunes and several songs of my own.  Where can I find my 400  missing songs?  Being able to store ALL music is the only reason why I signed up. Please help.

iTunes Match does not list all the music I had on my iphone. Not on my phone or iTunes. Only shows the music I've purchased from itunes and none of my 400+ songs.  Please help. Thank you.

Is your music in your iTunes library on your computer and has match completed its scan of this library.

  • Itunes match renewed and lost all my music

My itunes subscription automatically renewed on 10/6/13 and I have a reciept for the transaction.  Now all my music is missing.  This is really ******* me off.  I have so much music it will take forever to get it all back on my computer and then into the cloud.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to find my music in the could again?  Yes, I have itunes match turned on.

Have you done a search of your hard drive to make sure the purchases are actually gone and haven't just been erased from the iTunes library database? iTunes Music Store: Finding missing music and video downloads
If they are completely gone, if you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. The official policy on music/media purchases is that you only get one download and it's up to you to maintain a backup against loss: iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
If you click on this link it'll take you to the support/contact page, from there click on Music Purchases then the Lost or Missing Items option, from there click on "Email Us": Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • I've just subscribed for iTunes Match & it's wiped al my music - HELP!

And it's wiped my entire music library on all my devices (iPad & iPhone).
Is it instant? Does it take time to populate?
The help and support us very unclear.

This topic has actually been covered in-depth on this forum.
iTunes Match only scans an iTunes library. If the initial scan, match and upload process has not completed in iTunes and you enable the service on an iOS device then any music on the device that is not yet in the cloud (because it hasn't been processed by the scan in iTunes yet) will be removed from the device.
If you enable the service on an iOS device that has music stored on it that is not in the iTunes library that music will be removed from the device. If the music is not backed up somewhere then it will have to be re-ripped from the original CD.

  • HT4914 if i got itunes match and i lost all my music on my computer

i'm now having to reload all my music back on my laptop after the hard drive died, if i get i tunes match would i be able to download all my music to my laptop if it happend again ?

No. The local files are neither moved or touched. They are simply "matched" or "uploaded." Any purchased tracks will be marked "purchased."
Also, unless you delete tracks from the local iTunes library when you play it the local file will always be played. iTunes Match does not stream by default in iTunes.

  • After the cloud and iTunes Match, Can I access all my music in airplane mode?

Seems like Apple hasn't been very clear about this. So now all my music is being stored in the cloud. That should allow me to free up space on my phone...but if I turn on airplane mode, what would be left on my phone if I delete my music locally? If I can't delete the music locally on my phone, what's the point of storing it in the cloud? just backup?

Of course the music in the cloud which has not been downloaded to your iDevice can't be accessed while airplane mode is active. However, all music that has been previously downloaded to your iDevice can be played.
iTunes Match is not designed to be a streaming service. When you listen to music it is downloaded to your iDevice.

  • ITunes match is not uploading all my music.

iTunes match is not uploading my music.  It is stuck on Step 3 uploading 0 out of 224.  iTunes is hung up and can only be force quit.  Been stuck at 0 uploaded for 18 hours or more.

I have tried rebooting, turning match on and off.  Nothing I seem to do changes anything.  I can add new songs that get uploaded okay but I am still stuck on uploading 0 of 224.  And there are some song's that should be matched but stuck at "waiting".

Do you have iTunes match? You need a computer to manage an iTunes match library.

  • I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded?

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • When I statred iTunes match I lost some of my music and all my playlists, has anyone had this problem? And can I restore it?

When I statred iTunes match I lost some of my music and all my playlists, has anyone had this problem? And can I restore it?

Restore your media from the backup of the computer created prior to restoring the computer.
You did create a backup, correct?  Not doing so would be extremely unintelligent.
iOS devices are NOT backup devices.

  • HT4913 If I sign up for iTunes Match, and then turn the iTunes Match on my iPad, will my music library from the iPad that is not currently in iCloud move to the iCloud?

I have a large music library on my iPad, that is not currently on iCloud or on my main PC. If I sign up for iTunes Match, and then turn the iTunes Match on my iPad, will the music library from the iPad that is not currently in iCloud move to the iCloud? Or will I loose all that music?
