ITunes network connection timing out when downloading

*When I try to download the new software 3.0 for my IPhone 3G, ITunes 8.2.1.6 says the network connection timed out as soon as it is 99% complete.*
It happens every time.
In fact the last time it had downloaded 230.0 MB of 230.1 MB and then gave me the message.
*The STATUS field in the Itune download window says*
*"0 KB of 230.1 MB - stopped (err = -3259)" after the message is given.*
I tried completely uninstalling Itunes and Bonjor est. (all Apple software) and downloaded a new copy and installed it.
I tried turning off my fire wall completely.
None of my other internet accessing software is having any problems.
Please help!!!
Ive had old software on my phone for a long time and this is really aggravating me.

  • Network Connection Timed Out when downloading from...

I have only had BT broadband for a few months but am regretting it due to the huge number of dropouts I have - lose connection many times daily which is a big pain as I rely on this for my work.
One specific problem that has reared its head recently is if I try to download latest iphone upgrade from Itunes then after about 30 seconds it fails with "Network Connection Timed Out' and the connection breaks. This happens every time I try.
Also sometimes when I access sites I get TCP Network Error.
I know these problems are to do with the BTHub Router because if I switch to using my old Netgear Router which is still running on another line in the house (I need the backup as BT fails so often) then all works fine.
Can anybody help - or should I just throw it all away and try another provider?

  • Can not restore iPod, iTunes Network Connection Timed Out

Cannotrestore iPod, iTunes Network Connection Timed Out. I have updated my iTunesversion, but still can’t perform iPod restore. I turned off my firewall, tried numeroustimes for the past 3 days

Did you also disable your antivirus?  Some users reported that they had to configure their security software to no automatically startup on boot up and then reboot their computer.  Just turning off/disabling without rebooting did not work.

  • Network Connection Timed Out When Buying Something From iTunes

I've been on iTunes 10 for a while, not sure how long but before October I'm sure, and had no problems with it until last night. I tried to download an album and got the message "We Could Not Complete Your iTunes Store Request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
I've downloaded a song while running this version (10.0.1) and had no problems before.
Ran diagnostics and it said Network interfaces verified, internet connection verified but secure link to itunes store failed.
I don't know what to try. I've made sure everything is up to date, restarted everything, I'm connected to the internet, my anti-virus software (AVG) isn't blocking iTunes and I've definitely got enough money for the album in my iTunes account. What should I try?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jodie.

I was having the same problem last night trying to rent a movie via my Apple TV. Connection continually timed out and I received the message that my ID and password were incorrect. I tried the same via my PC and was able to rent the movie but was unable to access my account. This morning I am able to access my account so I wonder if this glitch is fixed?
    Anyone know?

  • Why does my network connection time out when downloading iphone 4 software update?

Why does my network connection time out when trying to download iphone4 software update?

I'm having the same problem too. I cannot sync or update over wireless or wired connections ever since I installed the most recent iTunes update. iTunes goes through the complete OS 5.0.1 download only to tell me the connection has timed out just when it seems ready to install. I've since reinstalled iTunes, I've ejected and done hard restarts on both my problem devices. I've disabled anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall. No change in outcome except that, after doing all this, my final attempt to simply sync my 1st Gen iPad led to iTunes crashing and being automatically closed by windows just before finishing the final step. Is this a cruel joke, because I'm certain I can hear iTunes laughing at me for wasting so much time on this.

  • Network connection timed out when upgrading to iTunes Plus

Seems I unknowingly fell into the same limbo as other users, after upgrading 214 songs to iTunes Plus, when trying to download them, I only get "network timed out" messages trying to download those "upgraded" songs.
Then I did my research to find out that it's affecting a lot of people.
It's not my network I can assure you, I flushed the DNS, I tried directly from modem to cpu (removed the router from the line) checked all my network settings and security's, checked all my system32/host files, checked my packet transmission settings, disabled firewalls, virus scanners, re-installed itunes.
So then I went another step to install Itunes 10.1 on my work cpu (different network) and my ex-wife's cpu (different network) and all had the same issue after I authorized their cpu's for my account use.
The 214 songs show up ready for download, but same message (networked timed out)
Seems to me that the Apple network is probably trying to send all the songs at the same time as a single packet, which of course is going to be too huge for anybody's network. (Since I'm hearing that people requesting for their que's to be reduced to smaller numbers 30-50 songs at a time and getting success I might have to do the same)
Is there any other thing I might be forgetting?
I guess if I dont get this resolved soon™, my only resolution will be to call visa and dispute the charges which I'd rather not. Im hoping for a more logical resolution.

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • "The network connection timed out" when finished downloading 2.0 software

So, every time I try to update to 2.0, as soon as the download finishes I get this error: http://i34.tinypic.com/11jutdf.jpg
It's happened 5 times now, and I'm quite upset since I just blew ten bucks on this.
Anyone else has a similar problem and figured it out?

I am getting the same error i have troubleshot everything on my end and found it to be a problem on their end. I have a friend who lives a mile away who is having the exact same problem. Apple support has NOT been helpful and i got a cookie cutter form letter response telling me it was my problem and there was nothing they could do about it. I got distraught and have emailed them again asking for another source to download from or a hard copy.

  • I get a network connection timed out when I try to restore my ipod touch and I know connection is fine

My daughter forgot her password on touch.  We have tried to restore, but after 6 or 7 minutes we get a connection timedout error message and it says to try again later.  I turned off firewalls, but that did not help.  Any suggestions?

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and restore usually resolves that problem.

  • Error: Network Connection Timed Out

I am beyond ****** off at the moment. My iTunes was working perfectly until two weeks ago, and now it insists my Network Connection Timed Out when I try to access the store or update podcasts.
It can't be my internet connection, because as you can see, I'm able to access the internet. For some reason it's this specific copy of iTunes (7.5), because the iT7 downstairs works perfectly. Of course, since Apple are so fecking stingy, I can't add a few files from there without wiping everything off my iPod.
    So here's the run-down:
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8600, Windows XP, browsing with Firefox and attempting to load the latest podcasts onto my iPod Shuffle. I don't give a toss about downloading songs, I just want to update my podcasts without having to search the net for the source file.
I ran the Network Diagnostics and it insists the Conneciton to iTunes failed, suggesting I adjust my cable (i don't have one - it's wireless) or flush my dns settings (which i've done several times).
I found a thread on these forums from March and tried every solution:
    - uninstalling and reinstalling itunes... doesn't work.
    - opening Internet Explorer 7, then opening iTunes... doesn't work.
    - searching for a host file and removing the phobos apple line... doesn't work. The phobos line wasn't there
    - using itunes 7... doesn't work.
    - flushing my dns... doesn't work.
    - turning off my firewall.... doesn't work.
    - avoiding clashes with mcafee or zone alarm... doesn't work, cos i don't use those
I think it's appalling that I've tried all this, and i'm still no closer to knowing what the problem is, and that Apple failed to respond to any of the other people's problems in the earlier thread. And that i spent about ten minutes signing up to this fecking forum just to ask for help. Surely support should be readily available to anyone!
Can anybody help me? In the other thread, people found alternative sites for buying music, but has anyone got an alternative, ipod-compatible podcasting program?

I have this same problem. Here's what I can add to this discussion - iTunes accessed the iTunes store a day or two ago. I have a home network and can access the internet from all of the networked PCs. I can access the iTunes store from all of the networked PCs using Internet Explorer. I can access the iTunes store from my laptop iTunes. I can not access the iTunes store from my workstation PC. I get the same "network connection timed out" message. I downloaded and installed a new (same version) of iTunes on the workstation PC. both the laptop and the workstation are running the same OS (Windows XP SP2), both are Dell computers, both are accessing the internet via a wired connection to the same switch and the same router. All other internet connections work fine.
What's different? In the last couple of days my Workstation lost access to a network printer. I worked with HP for over an hour to re-establish network connection to that printer with no success. I have access to the same networked printer from my laptop.
The IP address for the network printer is identical to what it was when it was installed - HP suggests looking for a change to the IP address. I made no changes to the workstation PC, the home network or the router, ISP, or internet connection.
But, it seems to me that the loss of access to the HP networked printer and the inability of iTunes to access the iTunes store are related.
I also called Apple and attempted to get technical support. I own 4 iPods with 104 Gbs of storage on them, I own 1900 CDs and iTunes has 36.5 days of music loaded into it.
I purchased Apple Care on all of the iPods - it's expired and they never warned me. They want to charge me $29 to fix this problem - even though I no longer can purchase music via the iTunes Store, so I need to pay $29 in order to gain access to the iTunes store to spend more money with Apple?! Not a smart business decision. I own a few other PC based music programs and more than willing to transfer all of it out of iTunes and into one of the other products. I'll sell all the iPods on eBay and purchase other MP3 players if I must.
But, I suspect the problem is (1) Apple doesn't have a documented answer to this problem, (2) the level 1 techs that answer the support phone are clueless - they just e-mailed me the same article from the Apple website that I told them I read and does not apply to my problem, and obviously does not resolve my problem. (3) Apple is not setup to resolve this type of problem with their level 1 support, and they can't escalate the problem without charging us.
I'll try again on Monday, may even purchase Apple Care first and then use that. The Apple Care Tech Support is typically better than the free level 1 call in support.
Suggestions, comments, etc. are all appreciated.
