Itunes not playing music, Vista 64-bit

Hello Everyone,
The other day I was messing around with windows and managed to screw it all up; I completely reinstalled windows and then installed Itunes and imported all my music. When I tried to play my music it just doesn't play; the diamond at the top doesn't move, it just stays completely still. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thank you!

I as well have been having this problem. I am running Windows Vista 32-bit though. I will try to play music and it never begins the song. If anyone has any solutions, please help me out.

  • After iTunes upgrade, iTunes not playing music in Windows 8.

I just upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (ver. 1.1.2.31) on Windows 8.1. The prior version of iTunes worked fine, but after this upgrade, it won't play music. No error message, and it will play music videos. It says it's playing, and I can click from play to pause, but no sound comes out, and the bar doesn't scroll (so it's not advancing beyond 0:00 on the time of the song). Sound is fine on my computer, and I've even reinstalled iTunes. I also tried changing it to run as if on Windows 7. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Not sure why this worked, but I dragged my old iTunes Library file and iTunes Music Library.xml from the old computer into the new one, and it automatically worked. Weird fix, but I'm happy nonetheless.

  • ITunes Not Responding with Vista 64-bit Running on Dell Studio 15

    Hi!
I am running Vista 64-bit SP2 and downloaded the newest 64-bit version of iTunes. My music is located on an external network drive. Every time I open iTunes it starts to load the music and then just sits there and I have to kill it with the Task Manager.
I had the same setup only using XP on my old laptop and iTunes ran fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing a problem? I started with a brand new laptop with Vista SP1 and had the same error. So I just upgraded to Vista SP2 thinking that might help but it had no effect.
Thank you for any suggestions, I don't know what else to try...

  • Windows iTunes not playing any music

I have iTunes and just recently it is not playing music. Other music files will not play as I have set iTunes as my default player. But videos will play. Also, when I play music on another media player like Windows Media Player and RealPlayer music plays. In iTunes the pinhead telling the time of the song does not move. On my keyborad I have always been able to press a button that would raise, lower or mute audio. I cannot change the volume of the computer and whenever i press the mute button it says "Mute Off" no matter how many times I push it. Finally, in the bottom right hand corner of the computer where the small icons are there used to be a volume control button. That is no longer there and I have set Windows to always have it in the toolbar. If anyone could help me it would be great! Thanks.

okay, that rules out a creepy possibility.
let's try for some more standard problems.
    if you're running itunes 5.0.0.35, 5.0.1.3, 6.0.0.18 or 6.0.1.3
    try:
iTunes for Windows: Audio files do not play in iTunes 5 or 6
if you're running a higher version of itunes, or the compatibility settings thing doesn't seem to be a factor
try a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes play back properly again?
    love, b

  • HT1349 My iPad will not play music or videos in iTunes or my music app what do I need to do to fix this?

My iPad will not play music or videos in iTunes or my music app what do I need to do to fix this?

Music plays in the Music app - not iTunes. Videos play in the Videos App - not in the Music App. Is that what you are doing? If you are using the correct apps for the appropriate content - quit the apps and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • CAN'T INSTALL ITUNES 9 ON WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT OS

    Hey guys!
I'm having a reaaaallly hard time installing iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit OS. Everytime I think it's about to finish installing, it shows me this message:
What does it mean?? Can someone PLEASE help me, I haven't had music on my iPhone for 4 weeks now!

Curses ... you did everything right by providing the screenshot, thanks. But we really need to see the error message number that shows up after the "HRESULT" bit for one of those, and it's deciding not show us that.
Okay ... people who get these error messages for iTunes installs typically are also getting Windows updates failures too. So we'll try to work out what the iTunes/Updates issue is by checking your Update history.
Go into your Windows Update and click "Update History". Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on each failure to bring up a small window showing some info about the failure.
What error message codes are you getting for the Windows Updates failures? (For example, 0x8007000B, or something else?)

My new iPhone 4 will not play on the iHome iP1 Speaker System. I have removed the case and seated it properly and it charges, but does not play music. How can I get it to work?

    Hi there Graham!
I have a couple of articles that can help you troubleshoot this issue. First, if you are downloading HD content, you will need to know the system requirements for HD playback, which can be found here:
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3209
Next, you will want to check your video playback settings on your Windows machine. The steps for that can be found right here:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues

Hope that helps. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

  • Using iTunes to play music on two Airport Expresses simultaneously

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to set up a system where iTunes 7.0 on my Windows 2000 PC can play simultaneously to two Airport Expresses.
I've set up the first AE (call it AE1) by connecting it to my LAN with an Ethernet cable; it appears in the Base Station Chooser and I can find it and set it up. I set it up to 'Create a wireless network' and check both boxes in the iTunes tab, and give it an iTunes speaker name. At this point, everything's happy: I can see AE1 in iTunes, and play music to the speakers, and my Nintendo Wii can even get to the internet using AE1. I've left AE1 plugged in to the network.
Now the problem: I bought another Airport Express, call it AE2, and I want the new one to hook up to the existing network and let me play iTunes through the new one, as well. I connected AE2 to my LAN with ethernet and it showed up in the Base Station Chooser; I set it up to 'Join an Existing Wireless Network' and gave it the exact same Network Name: "Mike Home Network". I checked both checkboxes in the iTunes tab and gave the speakers a name. I then unhooked the ethernet, plugged in the speakers to AE2, and unplugged and replugged AE2 to restart it. The light flashes green, goes to yellow for a while, then goes solid green. (So I assume it found a network to hook up to.) iTunes shows the Multiple Speakers button, and I can pick AE1, but no sign of AE2.
I restart iTunes, but it still can't find AE2. Some support suggests using the wizard, but I'm on 2000 so it's not supported.
    So my questions:
    * Can I verify somehow that AE2 hooked up to the network that AE1 created? Ping it or telnet to it or something? (I can ping AE1 just fine.)
    * Is 'Join an Existing Network' the right way to do this?
(I also tried WDS with no success, but I may have done it wrong.)
    * AE1 is distributing IP addresses; AE2 is not. Is this correct?
Access Control is turned off on both AE's.
I have Wireless Security set to 'Off' on both.
(I'll re-enable it once I get these two going.)
    They're about 20 feet apart.
Wireless channel is 'Automatic' on both. (Also tried it with both on channel 8)
Firmware on both AE's is 6.3
    Itunes is version 7
Any suggestions? Anything at all, I'm absolutely stumped and this seems like it should be really straightforward....
      Windows 2000

Figured it out! thanks everyone for the help.
In the end, I fixed it by turning off 'Distribute IP Addresses' on AE1.
The problem was, if you want iTunes to find the wireless Airport Express, iTunes must be able to see the wireless AE's IP address. When AE1 was distributing IP addresses, it was performing NAT, which meant that iTunes on my PC could not distinguish between AE1 and AE2 behind it.
This is not clear in any of the documentation; I can't be the first person to be confused by this.

  • X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!

<X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!I I have WIndows Vista 32-bit Ultimate and Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio installed and with the factory drivers (I tried another set earlier and they did not work, so I reinstalled the original drivers which worked, at least partially). Until now I only listened to music using my headphones, but I tried today to plug-in my 5. Genius system (50W RMS) and everything works fine EXCEPT the subwoofer does not produce any sound at all!! The ONLY way to make it work is go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> press Configure and then click the Test button in the dialog that appears (or click the subwoofer icon to make it produce a very nice bass sound - which I absolutely love, but it's the only way to make my subwoofer work!!!). Please guys, help me find out what the problem is. All help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you my friend,I have done as you have mentioned (made sure the DLL did not stay there when I rebooted before I installed your version), and now I have the version which you have built. However, I am still unable to hear the subwoofer I am so sad... even my default on-board card supports the 5. just great, and I love the sound of that, but I was hoping for something better from Creative - instead, all I got was a soundcard I can only use with my headphones at the moment because of a faulty driver...
    Did you enable Bass Redirection?
Run Console Launcher, click on Speakers and Headphone -> choose 5. Speakers.
Then click on Bass (Bass Management) and enable Bass Redirection.
