hi,
my cousin, is having a problem.
all she can tell me is, she plugged her new ipod into pc....and she got some message saying "restore"......she clicked yes........
and now.... her ipod is cleaned out.....no music in it......she had thousands of songs in it......
also..... her itunes library in itunes on her pc...... when she clicks a song, it says unable to locate file.... so no music is playing in itunes.
i think she says most of the music is also wiped from her itunes library.
she checked her itunes location, in my documents etc... and the folder is empty she said.......
although thousands of songs were on her ipod only, and not on her itunes, as she put songs on from her mates libraries, and also her computer died recently and she lost her old library....
sounds bad right?
system restore on windows xp wont help with it?
ive got her to shut down and reset ipod..... and still..... nothing in there.....
any ideas what shes done? or is anything recoverable?
random crash? or her own fault?
cheersI think you've misunderstood. What I mean was to drag a track from iTunes into a folder that is on your desktop as opposed to dragging directly to the desktop.
In any case, I guess you can try deleting your preferences from ~/Library/Preferences to see if that helps. There are three of them…
com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
com.apple.iTunes.plist
com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
I would just drag them to your desktop so you can always put them back if it doesn't work. Saves having to redo your settings. Oh yes, don't foget to quit iTunes before moving/deleting/replacing anything. -

When i try to start itunes i get a message saying that the MSVCR80.dll file is missing and to reinstall itunes. When I try to reinstall itunes it tells me that I have an Error 7 (windows error 126). Can anybody tell me what this means? Thanks
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I just tried to install the iTunes update 11.4.1 and keep getting error messages. I have never had this issue before over many years of using iTunes and getting updates to the software. I have removed the iTunes from my computer and reinstalled it but keep getting the errors. Here are the error statements: "Runtime error: Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe; R6034; An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team. iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Follow the instructions of tt2 in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5822086 and note to run as admin

After updating itunes on my pc, I get the error message "MSVCR80.dll is missing." Reinstalling itunes does not help.
MSVCR is Microsoft Virtual Creator. It's an MS dirivitive of Java.
Try running Windows Update, and see: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/ msvcr80dll-problem/e5e1ae2f-f109-4bde-af20-ebcb7244fb5c

That's crazy. A serial number is not required.
Are you certain you chose the correct version to download?

My iTunes parent control keeps giving me the same error message. “Parent control preferences could not be unlocked. You may need to reinstall iTunes. “I have uninstalled ant reinstalled iTunes that 4 time now and I still can’t get on. Can anyone help?
Experimental advice ... but, plausibly, the preference files containing the parental control setting may be damaged. If so, removing the iTunes preference files may help.
For the basic technique, see the "Remove iTunes preference files" section from the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:
iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
To see those folders, you'll need to first set your PC to view hidden files and folders
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Prior to doing the preference file rebuilds: Best to make a note of any custom preferences you have set up for your iTunes. (Rebuilding pref files returns preferences to their defaults ... so you'll likely have to set some of those custom preferences up again from scratch.) Also make a note of any third-party plugins/add-ons you have installed. You may have to reinstall those after the rebuilds.
Things to watch out for during the rebuilds
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Local\ location causes the iTunes license agreement to run. So you'll need to agree to that again.
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Roaming\ location causes the iTunes Setup Assistant to run. When prompted to do so, do not add files to your iTunes library. (Otherwise you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.) -

MacBook Doesn't sleep when lid closed, then grey screen
When I close the Mac Book it does not go to sleep. In other words, the Apple light on top does not go out. When I open it, that grey multi-language screen is there that says to restart. This is a new problem. I've been running SL since day one.
