Itunes & Quicktime won't work-HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

G'day,,,just downloaded itunes 7.5(about the 3rd time) and installed it. Now I cant even open itunes at all. It says there are some files missing and to reinstall itunes. I've done this about 10 times, I even went in and deleted it befor reinstalling. No good. It seems that right at the end of installing, that message comes up (cant open, missing files, please reinstall itunes), I click ok, then the install finishes and says installed successfully. I try to open it and same thing.. Then I re-installed Windows Xp,,(Twice) Same,,,I followed all the help files etc,,,"show hidden files & Delete SC file etc,,there was no SC file, the folder was empty,,,I get the same with the Quicktime Player.
Can anybody Please Help me,,,,Going nuts.
Thanks Yours Michael.

That suggests an AFS.sys issue. But we'd better doublecheck.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". (If you're running iTunes 11.0.x you'll need to bring up your menu bar first to see the Help menu.) Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".

  • Quicktime won't work on my new iMac?

    Hi all,
I've just got myself a new iMac, did a migration of all the stuff of my old Powerbook G4 and now Quicktime won't work!!
I had a Pro version of QT 7 but now it states I just have the free version! I did a software update and it told me to update QT, I tried but software update kept telling me that it cannot save the QT update. So in my frustration I deleted QT and decided to download it directly off the Apple site....it downloaded and then stated it can't mount the disk image...what on earth is going on, can anyone help?
    Thanks

You must purchase a new QT key for each computer.
Since you have a new iMac, you are entitled to 90 days of FREE phone tech support from Apple and you can use the Chat with a Support Agent. The online chat support _*is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.*_

  • ITunes Store won't work after 7.2 installation!!!

I just installed iTunes 7.2 and now there iTunes store won't work! It says there's a connection problem and to check the connection. Normally when it says that, Internet Explorer doesn't either (but this time IE does work, I've been on apple support all day trying to fix this!!) I've tried everything it said to do and it's still not working!!! I had just installed 7.1 days before (I had the installer, I just never got around to installing it until I got a reminder for 7.2) and everything was fine. Then after I installed 7.2 I was told that the store wasn't working and we thought it was cuz IE wasn't working. Please help!!!!!

I just had the same problem and the advice in the discussion titled "cannot connect to iTunes store" posted by dcbrendle fixed my problem.

Just updated my iTunes and the iTunes Radio won't work. An error message comes up everytime after I choose a station. All the featured stations are missing as well (i.e. they're just not even there). Any help?

I can see this comment fell on deaf ears. iTunes radio also randomly skips large chunks of  songs... Usually the good ones.

No, it does not.  It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer.  The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

  • ITunes Store won't work! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got an iPod nano 4th Generation for Christmas and I was so excited to start using it! I installed iTunes and set up an account, but when i came home and installed iTunes and signed into my account the Itunes Store wouldn't work. When i click on Itunes Store the home page will come up, but when i try to click on one of the links nothing will happen. At the top it just says "Accessing iTunes Store..." Please help I don't know what is wrong with it. It worked on the other computer i have the account on.

Kendra, does the PC that does not work have anything from Symantec installed on it? If so it is probably Norton security software that is blocking it.
Read this thread - there is a post by WileECoyote33, where they had to download a Norton removal tool to get rid of a trial version they weren't even using! Norton was blocking itunes. It has its own firewall, separate from the built-in Windows firewall.

  • ITunes 6 won't work!!!

Hey there, I'm Dave from Canada...
I downloaded the newest version of iTunes with Quicktime 7 and as I tried to install it i received "Error Code -3" - Quicktime installation failed. After that I could not run iTunes anymore. I managed to downgrade to iTunes 4.something but then all the audio went mental and the sound won't work properly. I tried installing the standalone quicktime and I get Error 1714 - cannot remove old quicktime, etc. I have removed EVERYTHING and I still can't get quicktime to install...I'm very angry, cause I would like to update my ipod, but this has become impossible. Apple has been lackluster in giving support, since my "warranty" on my ipod is done.
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
Anything you guys can suggest would be great!
    Thanks, Dave from Canada

Tried all of that, and nothing....I finally gave up and just reformatted my C: drive. That finally worked and my iPod is back! Yay! Now I can go to the gym again...
Thanks for all the help, however, and good luck helping others.
    Dave!
By the way, Apple's policies on helping people with problems from iTunes/Quicktime suck and they can kiss my butt. I was completely frustrated when they suddenly stopped helping me when they realized the warranty on my iPod was done, regardless of the fact that I was actually getting help for iTunes/Quicktime, their free programs that they cannot charge an extended warranty for! Now I am going to question whether or not to buy another Apple product after this. I received better support here then from the "experts"

  • ITunes / Quicktime won't install - error message during in installation

My computer, a Dell running with Windows Vista, has not been able to have iTunes & Quicktime installed on it in months. I've attempted to install it a countless number of times & tried a variety of things with my computer to install it but it just doesn't work - I get the same error message everytime. I can't even remember what happened to make it start acting so ridiculous.
It always starts out looking good and everything seems to be working pretty well, the green bar filling up pretty quickly, but then the 'Status' gets to about 'Publishing product information' and the error message pops up and I can't install it. It goes along the lines of "A error occurred during the installation of assembly: ..." then it goes on to say 'Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F'. Here's a screenshot of the error message with the long whatever on it:
    http://i46.tinypic.com/qoesm1.png
I believe I get the same message even when I attempt to download the two software separately (iTunes & Quicktime).
Can any one tell me what needs to be done? I have no idea what to try anymore. All help will be much appreciated. Thank you .
P.S.: If it helps, I can't really reinstall Internet Explorer (removed it when I downloaded Firefox).

    Thanks!
    (3) And I do not believe I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installed on this computer, as I just tried to install it and I received this error message: http://i45.tinypic.com/a3m7bc.png
Okay ... that rules out one possible treatment. Sometimes people with the redistributable installed can get past this by applying a security update for it ... but it looks like the same sorts of problems are preventing it from installing.
    (2) And last time I checked my History I had several failures I believe, however now I only see one failed update, that being Update for Windows (KB944036). The error code listed 8000FFFF. Apparently it's an update for Internet Explorer 8.
The other primary strategy we (I?) have for dealing with these is to attempt to treat any underlying issues on the PC that prevent Windows Updates from installing. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that your 8000FFFF is related to your IE being uninstalled, I think we'd probably better try following up on the following document:
[Error when you download updates using Windows Update or Microsoft Update: 8000FFFF|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414]
After applying those measures, do your Windows update and/or iTunes installation failures clear up?

  • ITunes, quicktime won't start

    Problem:
When iTunes is launched, the process shows up for several seconds in the process manager before disappearing without an error message. Subsequent attempts to open iTunes feature it disappearing from the process manager in a much shorter period of time. Attempts to open quicktime result in an error box saying "QuickTimePlayer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."
    History:
I installed itunes v.6.0.1, without a hitch. After restarting my computer as asked by the setup, I was able to open itunes. However, after another shutdown, itunes could not be opened, as described above. Subsequent removals and reinstallations of itunes result in it working until I reboot the machine.
    Things I've tried:
I do not have any Norton products installed, and qoolaid-related processes do not show up in System Information/Software Environment/Running Tasks, or in scans made by HijackThis as shown below. I tried restarting into safe mode with command prompt, but searches of winnt/system32, winnt, and any of the startup folders in under documents and settings did not reveal any of the executables or dlls associated with qoolaid. Additionally, scinfo.sidb has been delated from application data in documents and settings.
Running processes (as shown by hijack this):

    hi Wowbagger!
hmmm. the QT error message is unusual in these error-less itunes launch failure cases.
let's try heading into MSCONFIG to see if there's something else (apart from the Qoologic thing) causing problems. try applying the following technique:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
first let's just see if itunes and QT will launch after you do a selective startup with just qttask.exe, ituneshelper and ipodservice enabled.
if they do launch, steadily try adding startup items back in during startup until you get the QT-crash/itunes-errorless-launch-failure again.
let us know the names of any startup items that you absolutely have to leave disabled in order to avoid the launch failure and/or QT error.

  • ITunes Store won't work

    My iTunes store won't load.
    It used to load.
When my sister got her iPod a long time ago, she set up an account to buy music from the itunes store. It worked then.
I don't know what's happened since then, but we don't know the password, or account name.
But it doesn't matter, because when I try to log on with this account (which I made to post this) it gives me the same message as when I click on Genius or iTunes store...
    Message:
"_*iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store.*_
Make sure your connection is active then try again. "
I've looked at the troubleshooting options, and flushed my DNS. Deleted Norton completely, same with another antivirus, and windows firewall is disabled, and allows iTunes.
Can anyone give me any help? I have an acer computer running Windows Vista Home Premium. I've got the latest (9.0.1?) itunes, that I just downloaded. But even before that, I had between 7-8 and it would NOT work.

Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: Overview of Music Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store.
    Hope this helps.
