iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • After updating to osx 10.8.2 and itunes 10.7, iTunes crashes consistently after playing one song

After updating to osx 10.8.2 and itunes 10.7, iTunes crashes consistently after playing one song. Song progress indicator actually stops working after 30 seconds or so and iTunes can no longer be closed. However, the song finishes playing, but the next one will not start.
I tried on different computers, with different iTunes libraries, both on internal and external media. It ALWAYS happens.
    Any suggestions?

I downgrade to itunes 10.6.3 and the error still appears.
I have to download this utility http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/download-ie3-mac.php
    And I deleted this file:
    /private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/iTunesCDB
    That fix the problem.
Now my iphone is working without issues on latest version of itunes 10.7

  • ITunes Asking for Authorization to Play Downloaded Song

I am having a problem I've never had before.  iTunes won't play a song I downloaded 11.0.4 won't play a song I downloaded from the iTunes Store as part of an album.  It asks to authorize the computer to play the song.  When I enter my name and password, it says my computer is already authorized.  But then it wil not play the song!  I've tried the troubleshooting tips on the webpage (ie deleting my SC folder, etc) to no avail.  The "Info" section on the song, oddly, doesn't indicate that the song was downloaded from the iTunes store (the rest of the songs on the album list me as the downloader).  But I also can't re-download the song, because the store thinks I've already downloaded it.  The store offers me the opportunity to play the song, but then the same authorization problem happens.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Delete it and then redownload it.

  • Won't let me authorize to play a song

I can't play a song I purchased in an album from itunes store.  When I click on it it tells me my computer is not authorized to play it and promps me to sign in to authorize it so I do and it tells me the same message over and asks me to resign in over and over and not able to play song.  My computer is most certainly authorized to play itunes.  This is a bug of some kind yes?  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

  • ITunes 8.0 only Plays One Song at a Time, then Stops! AARGH!

Someone, please help. I have tried everything I can think of, to no avail.
For some reason, when I play a song in my Music Library on my laptop iTunes 8.0, it stops playing after each song. When the song ends, iTunes stops; it does not move to the next song in my library, it just stops. I have to click on the next song to play that song, and when that song is done it stops.
I have tried creating Music Playlists, does not help. I have tried checking and unchecking the Repeat and Shuffle options, still nothing.
This does not happen on my iPods, only when I play songs in my Music Library on iTunes from my laptop.
If you have any suggestions for a solution, please tell me. I am beyond frustrated having to click on the next song every time.

I have the same problem with iTunes only playing one track at a time. It didn't use to be this way ... and seems to have developed after one of the recent updates (late December 2008).
I did, however, find that the problem was "solved" by checkmarking all the tracks that I expect to hear played. However, this won't work for me because ... as it has always been in the past ... I use these check boxes to tell iTunes which tracks to synchronize to my iPod. Since my desktop library is many times larger than can be loaded onto my iPod, I obviously cannot check all of the tracks.
Since when did these check marks become **ALSO** a signal to tell iTunes what tracks to play continuously on iTunes?!?
Previously, I have **ONLY** used these check-marks to signal to iTunes the tracks that should be synchronized to my iPod.
If the foregoing advice (check-marking all songs to be played continuously on **iTunes** ... then it would appear that the programmers have introduced a conflict of functions in the iTunes user interface.
The check-mark system is a simple and intuitive method to select which tracks to synchronize to the iPod ... it is not at all intuitive that you would be expected to check these **SAME** check-boxes to play tracks on the iTunes desktop.
Generally, when listening to music at home on iTunes, I prefer to listen to albums as published from the first track to the last track. Occasionally, I may wish to shuffle tracks within an album or within a genre.
However, when on the go, I sometimes shuffle music entirely. In any event, I cannot possibly download my entire library onto my iPod because of memory limitations.
In conclusion, I do not wish to tamper with my check-marks ... I know, at any time, how much memory is currently in use on my iPod and so can add and/or delete check-boxes to adjust the tracks from my iTunes main library that are played on my iPod.
Of course, then, I am massively frustrated that I cannot listen to albums continuously without messing-up my iPod library selections.
This was never a problem before ... why has this behavior changed?
This could, of course be resolved if the Apple development team added a command "Continuous Play" [On] or [Off] ... say under the [Controls] menu, logically placed above the "Shuffle" menu item.

  • ITunes 10.5 Stops Playing Some songs mid-song and skips to the next

I migrated a friend’s iTunes library from a Win Vistamachine to Windows 7 Home Premium. Not sure what version of iTunes he had onthe Vista setup, but it’s 10.5.1 on the new machine. In the process, I backedup the sizable (6,000+ songs) iTunes library to an external hard drive, andrestored it to the new Win7 machine.
Now about 10% of his songs will start playing and at randomtimes, will skip to the next song without completing.
I found a fix, but it’s pretty tedious – there’s got to be abetter way to fix this.  Here are thesteps when a song stops playing and jumps to the next:
    Locate     the song in Windows.
Copy     it to the desktop (or another safe spot)
Delete     the song from iTunes, selecting the option to remove it from the hard     drive.
Cut     the song from the desktop and paste it back in the folder where it came     from
In     iTunes:  File>Add Folder to     Library… Navigate to the folder and add it.
Once the song is added back to the library, it plays justfine.
This solution works for identified files. However, with6,000+ songs in a library and no way to determine which files are affected on amacro level, this really is not a solution.
There is no noticeable pattern. This seems to happen toabout 10% of the files in the library. One particular song (Foo Fighters:  The Pretender) was duplicated on the harddrive and in the iTunes library.  BOTHversions of the song stop playing with 0:21 remaining and skip to the nextsong.  However, another song in thelibrary stops playing at 1:01.
Some of the troubled files are .m4p, some are .mp3. Thefiles themselves are not corrupted.  Itested several in QuickTime and they played to the end. Additionally, as shownabove, when they are deleted from the library and restored they play just fine.
I have deleted the com.apple.iTunes.plist as suggested inother articles, but this did not help.
    Any help is appreciated.
