ITunes Rolldback During Install On  Windows 64 Bit

Just upgraded my machine to 64 Bit Windows Ultimate and am trying to install the 64 bit version of iTunes, each time I try it gets to copying files before it rollsback and says iTunes could not be installed at this time. I have tried removing all traces of the files and directories and installing in other directories but I am having no luck installing the program

@GuardianOfLight,
Yes, this Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) problem is what I've been talking with Apple Support on since 4/1/10. Basically, AMDS is not being installed and there is no way to install it individually.
From before I contacted Apple Support and since then, I would say that I've done about 6 complete uninstalls and re-installs including creating installation log files. From the log file, which is thousands of lines long, I have identified (and told Apple) that netaapl64.inf is either missing or in the wrong format in the iTunes 64-bit installation. It is one of the files needed for AMDS installation and when the iTunes Install fails to open it, the AMDS installation part of the iTunes 64-bit install is backed out.
Apple Support will be reviewing all the info that I've provided early this week. They've been kind of busy with the iPad
I'll post an update (hopefully, a solution) as soon as I have that.

  • ITunes hangs during install in Windows 7 64bit.

I've been having trouble installing iTunes on my Windows 7 Pro 64bit. It hangs at the same place every time. I opened up task manager and found the culprit, DiFXInstall64.exe. When I kill this process, iTunes continues and finishes the installation. Why does it do that? What is DiFXInstall64.exe? And does it cause any problems if I kill the process and iTunes installs as usual? Will that damages the program and give trouble later on?

DifX componentry is used to install the GEAR drivers itunes uses for importing and burning CDs. After the install goes through for you, are there any messages (when opening iTunes for example) indicating that there's trouble with your iTunes burning and importing capabilities?

    Any one had this issue
Itunes will not install on windows 7 home

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Trying to download itunes onto PC installed with windows vista. Download keeps getting to 99% with 1 second remaining and then freezes / does nothing? Any help appreciated.

I solved the problem! The updates orignally were downloaded to the C: drive of the server. I've since moved them to the E: drive and for some reason the Content folder in IIS didn't change the file path to the new WSUScontent folder.
The root cause for this was failing to use the UTILITY designed for this very purpose.
I edited the virtual directory settings in IIS and was able to put the correct path in.
You still need to use the UTILITY.. to fix all the other stuff you're still missing.
    In the %ProgramFiles%\Update Services\Tools folder...
    WSUSUTIL MOVECONTENT E:\WSUS E:\WSUS\MoveContent.LOG -SKIPCOPY
This problem was caused by moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.
No. This problem was caused by IMPROPERLY moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.

  • ITunes won't install in Windows 8.1

I Clicked Download iTunes after selecting it for Windows 8, 64 bit. A new screen came up, thanking me for downloading iTunes, and describing all its features. That's great, but where is the download? I don't get an error message, I get nothing. What can I do to install iTunes on my PC?

Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Itunes will not install..windows INSTALLER service not available.windows 7

I am trying to find a fix for this...just bought a new computer with windows 7, all updates have been performed. Itunes will not install...it just stops and says "windows installer service not available" Can't find a stand alone downloadable version of installer 5.0 which is what comes with 7 from the research I have done. I have the newest version of itunes saved on desktop, tried running it from desktop, tried running as admin, tried several other ideas that I found on here and Microsoft..but nothing is working. Any advice?

Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"
Doublechecking ... by any chance did you migrate a 32-bit version of the iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Bonjour programs to the 64-bit machine from a 32-bit machine using the PC Mover utility?
(Your symptoms are consistent with that ... the installer service throws the message when trying to uninstall the 32-bit itunes and related 32-bit componentry prior to installing the new 64-bit versions.)

  • Itunes error during install - msiexec.exe

I'm trying to upgrade to teh newest version of iTunes so I can activate my iphone. During install I get an error message that states there was a problem with MSIEXEC.exe and it will have to be closed, and then asks me to send error report to windows xp. Im in desperate need of help - thanks to all in advance!

open internet explorer and go to the windows update page, you most likely need to update your authorization msi or your root certificates. I'd recomend just grabbing them all, then go for a long long long walk....

    Hello db133,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're unable to open iTunes after installing it due to an error with the Apple Application Support.  I see that you've gone through and reinstalled multiple times, but there are specific steps for removing and reinstalling iTunes which I think would help resolve this issue.  Those steps are found in the article linked to below.

  • ITunes will not install on Windows XP machine

I have tried to install iTunes on my Windows XP machine (Home Edition - SP2 loaded)and it keeps bombing out, I have all the symptoms as decribed in the attached Support problem
*No error message displays, however the iTunes installation disappears from screen and does not finish and iTunes is not installed. This happens right after "Publishing product information" appears on the screen.*
I have tried the suggested fixes, including repairing Windows.
    Any help/suggestions appreciated.
    Tx

    Tony Sheridan,
In Windows goto control panel>add and remove and uninstall iTunes AND quicktime if there listed. Then go here and roll down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Now scan your system for malware with ewido http://www.ewido.com
After that disable antivirus and any security programs then goto apple.com and download/install the latest iTunes.
If that does not work go here and install "Quicktime WITHOUT iTUnes" http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

  • I keep downloading 11.1.3.8 64 bit, but it doesn't recognise my iPhone, and says: The iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes. Then install the 64 bit version of iTunes."

    Success!
By completely removing all reference to apple or iTunes/iPod/ Safari etc from my computer, it has at last installed.

  • ITunes won't install on Windows 7

iTunes had been working on Windows 7 but then, after I unintsalled some apparently unrelated programs, it couldn't load up.  I've downloaded the iTunes installation file and tried to install or repair 3 times but keep getting a message that a required component is not installed (-45075).  I've tried 2 installation files and I've uninstalled before installing again.  But I keep getting the same thing:  the program appears with the warning popup box in front, and if I click O.K. or cancell the box, the program disappears.

I've downloaded the iTunes installation file and tried to install or repair 3 times but keep getting a message that a required component is not installed (-45075).
Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
