Itunes says my new laptop (windows 8) isn't authorized to play some of the purchased songs that are already on my iphone (I previously synced it with my old laptop).  It says it will delete them from the phone unless I authorize the computer.

This results in an endless loop where I authorize it, and then get the same warning.  I have already tried deauthorizing all the computers on the account, and then reauthorizing the new one yet the problem persists.  Also, only three devices are associated with the account.  I can't find the solution anywhere so help will be welcomed.  All songs were purchased through the itunes store and it appears to be older ones that are targeted for deletion; however, these older ones are still available for purchase in the itunes store so that's not the problem.  Thanks.

Hello, ted_marx38.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common cause for this issue would be media present that is purchased with another Apple ID.  When prompted to authorize the computer it may show a different Apple ID.  If this is the case, the computer will need to be authorized for this Apple ID.  The article below will walk you through the process of verifying if that is the case or correcting the issue if not.
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

My iPod was working fine, now when I plug it in to my computer and try to sync my music it is telling me that my computer is no longer authorized to play several of my purchased songs. I type my info to authorize my computer and it says it's already authorized. But it doesn't continue to update or sync my music.

That suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

How are you trying to delete the music direct on your iPhone?
You tried to remove the music from iTunes on your Mac how?
Do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your computer?

  • I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. I Do Not want to Loose any photos or albums by deleting them from my phone and not backing them up correctly. My iCloud backup is only storing my "Photo Stream" and I can not locate them in iTunes after I sync/Back up.

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. My storage is almost full on my phone. There are only 80 mg available. I am new to icloud and also have always had trouble navigating around iTunes. (Even after endlessly reading through support and help topics as well as calling)   My concern is about Not Losing any of my photos if I delete them from my phone. I have to delete a large portion of my camera roll as well as the Album Folders I have created. Although it would be great if there was a way to just keep my albums still. I have already backed them up to an external hard-drive, my computer and a geek stick. I'm not trying to be too paranoid about these photos, but, they are all of my 3 children. There are over 4000 pictures stored on my phone. Some photos go back as far as 2009.   Can you offer any information about backing up my Camera Roll, not just "Photo Stream", and albums I've created On my phone? I read that it's good to back photos up on both iTunes as well as icloud. I even purchased extra icloud storage to back them all up.   I do regularly back up/sync, my phone to my computers.   However, I cannot even locate where they are stored on iTunes, let alone look at them. And as far as my iCloud backup, it only stores the new pictures from "Photo Stream".   Please offer any advice you may have. I do not use up a lot of storage on my phone other than Photos and Contacts (it's a work phone).   I would definitely be able to sleep better knowing my children can one day see these pictures of themselves. I appreciate your time. Thank you,

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?

  • Is it possible to save an iPhone back up and access the files later if needed?  I have a string of text sms and iMessages that I would like to save and then delete them from my phone.  Is this possible?

I have a string of text sms and iMessages that I would like to save and then delete them from my phone, but gain access to them later if I need them.  I prefer to have the string with the date/time stamp vs copying and pasting into a doc or text file.  Is this possible?

Not unless you buy an app that accesses data from an iTunes backup.  Check in the app store.

  • Hi, I've upgraded my iCloud storage and uploaded my 3000  photos. I now want to delete them from my phone. Can I still access them from the cloud of I do? If so how? Thank you in advance.m

Hi, I've upgraded my iCloud storage and uploaded 3000+ photos.  Can I safely delete them from my phone and still access them from the cloud? Thank you

    Hey linsfrombrandon,
The closest you will get to have your photos live in iCloud and not taking as much storage space on your iPhone is by using iCloud Photo Library. What it does is makes your Photos live in iCloud but also appear on your iPhone and other iOS devices and computers. It will be the exact same so any changes will be reflected everywhere. When they are on your iPhone, there is an option to use a compressed version. Take a look at the FAQs page and let me know if you have any other questions before making this decision to turn this on. I would also make sure that you have a safe copy of your photos before moving forward.

  • I just upgraded to IOS 8 and a ton of pictures appeared on my iphone from my computer. I want them saved in my iphoto but not on my phone. If I delete them from my phone will they delete on my computer?

I just upgraded my iphone 4S to IOS 8 and a ton of pictures appeared on my iphone from my computer. I want them saved in my computer iphoto but not on my phone. If I delete them from my phone will they delete in iphoto on my computer?  They are taking up a lot of memory.  Thanks

No they will not delete.  If you are nervous about that, connect your phone to your computer and import the photos into iPhoto and drag them into a new folder on your desktop.

  • HT1296 All my photos from my computer were copied over to my phone and I don't know how to delete them from my phone.  Has anyone had this problem who might now how to fix it without restoring the iphone or resetting it to the original settings?

All the photos from my computer were transferred to my iphone.  I don't know what I did to make that happen and I can't even delete them from my phone.  I had to reset and restore my phone to original settings and lost all my iphone photos and contacts and messeges.  Has this happened to anyone who might know how to fix this or next time I sync my iphone to prevent the photos from my computer from downloading onto my phone?

You delete them the same way you put them there.  The sync process.  Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want on the iphone, sync
Click Support at the top of this page, then click Manuals, for a copy of the manual

  • I transferred pictures over from my computer to my iPhone 5 and now i cannot delete them on the phone and cannot work out how to delete them from my phone by the computer?

I trasferred pictures over from my computer to my iPhone 5 and now i cannot delete these pictures from my phone, and i cannot work out how to delete them from my phone by the computer as the pictures do not show up in my files on the computer, how can i remove them i have over 400 pictures that need removing?

If you have a Mac with iPhoto, plug the iPhone in and open iPhoto. Choose to import the photos. Once they have been imported, there should be an option to "Remove Imported Photos from Device". Choose this.

  • HT204022 I have successfully saved all of the photos on my Iphone 5 to my PC.  Now I want to delete them from my phone so that i can free up space and take more pictures.  How do I do this?

I have saved all of the photos on my Iphone 5 to my PC.  Now I want to delete them from my phone only to free up space and take more pictures and video.  How do I do this?

You sould have been given the option to delete them after importing when you imported them, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
To do this on your phone, open the album you want to delete photos from (so you are viewing the thumbnails), tap Select, tap the photos, then tap the trash icon.  (There is no "select all" option.)

  • Can I backup all the photos on my iPhone to the cloud, then delete them from my phone to free up space?

Can I backup all the photos on my iPhone to the cloud, then delete them from my phone to free up space (but be able to restore them if I need them again?)

Thanx for the link...here's my problem.  I built my windows pc and installed 2 hard drives...but the larger one isn't accessible right now...not sure why...but the solid state little one is full. This is a problem I need one of my kid's to help me address.  I have a lot of photos 'cause my husbands into photography, we travel a lot, and somehow thousands of photos he took, plus ones I took, plus videos I took, ended up on my iPhone...and they are different in a lot of cases from the photos on the iPad that we share.  I know I have 2 address this someday, bu don't have time right now...and I can't take any new photos or videos...or even add an app for that matter, until I free up some space on my iPhone.  We've already taken two brief trips where I wanted to use my camera and couldn't...and I was looking for a quick way to address my picture taking ability...because we are leaving for another trip in a week, and another one right after that.  This is probably way more info than you need...but there are probably duplicates...but until I go thru them I won't know. I could be wrong, but I thought when I backed up my photos to iCloud that all the photos in the photo app were backed up.  Maybe I'm wrong and it's only those in the Photo Stream...in which case I should do something about that as well, 'cause I've upgraded our storage plan twice now...and it is getting pretty expensive...and I don't even know how to use it other than to do a complete restore when you get a new device which I just did recently because my son wanted our old iPad for a graduation present, and I kind of wanted the better camera on the new iPad, so I got one...and it took a week to retrieve everything from the cloud on our wi-fi! I hope this makes some sense to you, and appreciate any advice you have to share!

    Hi iprover,
Let me first say that I am NO EXPERT with anything Apple and really have only started looking into this iCloud stuff a few hours ago because I'm trying to help my mom free up some space on her iCloud. But anyway, here's what I'm learning and what I THINK might be happening to you.
Also, if any Apple support people (do they browse the forums to dish out helpful hints?) or people who probably know infinitely more than me about this stuff, please do chime in and confirm / correct my statements!
    This is what I gather.
iCloud for Windows is set up with a local folder (let's call it "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream") where iCloud will store photos uploaded to the Photo Stream. This will allow you to view your Photo Stream photos on your PC.
This does not mean that this is a PC backup of your Photo Stream photos, but just a way to view your Photo Stream from your PC. That being said, the general Photo Stream rules apply: 1. No videos are on the photo-stream, and 2. Photos on the Photo Stream will be removed after ~30 days and/or after hitting the Photo Stream limit of 1000 photos.
My guess is that the iCloud Windows App will delete photos from the local folder that are older than ~30 days and/or delete all but the most recent 1000 items if the 1000-item limit is reached.
That is a scary thought! I really hope you did not lose all your pictures, but my guess is that the iCloud local folder is NOT meant for backup but instead is the iCloud Windows App's sandbox for updating and managing Photo Stream photos.
All that being said, I'd say it's important to back up your photos in a separate folder not related to the iCloud local folder.

  • I want to dump my photos from my phone onto my pc automatically, and then delete them from my phone. How do I do this?

My wife and I both have an iphone 4s. We have been taking photos, and now the space on our phones is maxed out. Is there a way for me to automatically dump the photos onto my computer, and delete photos on my phone so that I hog up the space with photos? It seems like this shouldn't be complicated, but for some reason, I can't figure out how to copy the photos to my pc, and then delete them from my phone.

Connect the phone to your computer and open whatever image capture application you have on the computer. An application you use to transfer photos from a camera to your PC should work with the iPhone. The computer will recognize the phone as a camera and allow you to copy photos to the computer, you can then keep or delete the photos from the iPhone.

  • Is there any way that I can put the 600 songs that are stored on my old PC onto my new PC?  My iPod has the 600 songs on it but my iTunes will not let me add the songs onto the iTunes on the new computer.

    Yes.
You should have copied everything from the old computer to the new one.
Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar

  • If i import photos from my ipad to iphoto for mac, will deleting them from my ipad also remove them from my mac?

If i import photos from my ipad to iphoto for mac, will deleting them from my ipad also remove them from my mac?

No. They will remain on the Mac. That's one of the reasons why it's a good idea to import your treasured photos. If something happens to the iPad, you still have your photos.
