ITunes states over 20.4 gb cap. of other w/ iphone 4 vzw
Currently iTunes is stating that I am over capacity by 13.4 GB. The status bar on the bottom states that I have 20.4 GB of other loaded.
First of, what does other include? Secondly, how do get over 23 GB of other on my phone? How do I clear it out of iTunes and my phone?

Normally it could be contacts, data, calendar, favorites, messages, etc. it should be less then 1 gb.
If it is more than this it means corrupt files.

so annoyed with this new itunes, spent over 2 hrs to get one ringtone on iphone,why apple has to make it so complicated, on samsung just a push of button ringtone or music is on ur phone... i think its time to say good bye to iphone... Not a user friendly...
Highly recommended for samsung galaxy S4....hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Good morning. I found on my bank statement over $100 of Itunes charges that I have no idea what they represent. How do I find out what these charges are and if not responsible, how do I remove these charges.
You can view the purchase history on your computer's iTunes : if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases. (On your phone you can view a cut-down version of the purchase history via http://reportaproblem.apple.com).
If you didn't make the purchases, and nobody else has access to your account or devices and may have made them, then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption -

I seem to recall that another user has this problem and found that it was because of some corrupted music files they were trying to sync over.
Try syncing smaller bunches of tracks till you come upon the ones that cause the error. You should be able to find out which ones are causing the trouble this way.
The other user said they used something called MP3Diags. I cannot vouch for this software at all, I have never used it.

You won't be able to open it on your computer, ibooks can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. How were you trying to get it to your phone, syncing it by selecting it on the iPhone's Books tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, or by dragging-and-dropping it from the Books part of your iTunes library over and onto the iPhone 'device' ? Another option is to try re-downloading it directly in the iBooks app on your iPhone via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in it (re-downloading).

If you don't have iTunes installed on your laptop then you can download and install it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can then log into your account on it via the Store > Sign In menu option (on iTunes 11 on a PC you can get the menus to show via control-B) :
And you can then select the Store on the left-hand sidebar (you can enable the sidebar via control-S), and then browse items in the store and buy them by clickin on their price. -
I would like to do an iTunes sync over VPN but this doesn't work.
Has anyone ever done this?
I set up VPN service on my 10.6 server and VPN works fine, I can VPN on from an outside computer to my network w/ no issue and see my network.
When I VPN to my network on my iPad or iPhone, I get connected and the device gets an ip but I can't initiate a iTunes sync.
Was this just not meant to be? It should.I'm working on trying to figure this out too. I have a working VPN setup. To sync itunes, I am thinking that the itunes on the remote computer must have an itunes library that points to the main itunes library on the host computer. I think I have changed my itunes library on my remote computer to the library on the host via Preferences and the Advanced tab. There is a place there to change the location of your itunes library. When I click change, I can navigate to the itunes media location on the host.
I am syncing now, and will be able to confirm the results tomorrow when I have access to the host. Hopefully the sync won't have messed something up. But, I am thinking this is working... -

My computer crashed and I lost everything. I got a new one and downloaded itunes all over again. When I plug my ipad in even after authorising my computer it will still not let me edit anything on the ipad. The screen is grey like on the ipad section and i cant select an app or anything. I have transfered purchase apps but all it does is take movies and tv shows accross. It wont transfer the apps into itunes. Please helpAs far as I know, iTunes will still not change anything until you click on Apply in the lower right corner. I fiddle with my settings all the time - just so I can get a sense if what to expect should I make any changes - and I have never seen anything happen to my configuration unless I click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. Not only that - you have turned off auto sync so as far as I know you still have to click on sync or apply in order for the iPad to sync with iTunes.
That doesn't mean it will not happen, I've never seen it happen - is all that I'm saying. I'm sorry but I'm not sure what will happen, but the only reason that I can of why the apps will not transfer is because of the manual manage setting. I could be wrong about that as well.
Look at this discussion - which I have referred quite a few users to read. I know this process has worked for a number of people that have read it and used the instructions in it. Maybe we are missing something - what that would be - I'm not quite sure, but take a look.

Sharing an iTunes Library over WAN?
Sorry if this question has been asked before but my searching of the forum here has only seemed to turn up questions and anwswers on sharing over a local network. Here is my question.
Is it possible to share an iTunes library over the internet? And if so, how? If it isn't I'd like to know so I can stop trying to track down how to do this.
I have a Titanium G4 at home running iTunes 6.01 using a cable modem and router. The router firewall has been setup with the proper ports for iTunes and FTP (FTP works fine). My work computer is a G5 running iTunes 6.01 connected via a DSL modem/router.
I have no other issues connecting to my home computer from work, but I can't see my shared music at home on my work computer.
Thanks for any info.Issue solved. Here is what I did. I setup my Mac at home so I could connect at work. Inside the iTunes library on my work Mac I created an alias to the iTunes Music folder on my home Mac. Since my library at home and work are exactly the same iTunes on my work Mac sees a local library file but is streaming the music over WAN from my Mac at home.
The are some stops and starts as the connection is over WAN, but it's pretty smooth. Do not know what will happen if I need to add or subtract from the library on either Mac.
Just bringing this to the front in case anyone is interested in trying it themselves. -
I have my iTunes library stored on an external hard drive which is connected to my airport extreme, I wish to share my iTunes library over my network, I can do this with my laptop, but not with my iPad, can anyone tell me if it is possible
You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

I recently had to get a new windows computer, old one crashed. My tech guy got all my itunes library over to the new one, and all my songs are there. However, some won't play and ask me for the password for the apple id they were purchased under. 2 of these ids are obsolete and I have no access to those accts. The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.
Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos on my iPhone, iTunes won't sync ANY photos from iPhoto back to my iPhone. I've restarted my phone, computer, etc., force quit all photo-related apps on my iPhone, and tried various combinations of turning iTunes' photo syncing on/off, switching photo sync folders, etc., all to no avail -- I can't get my iPhoto library back on to my iPhone no matter what I do.
Anyone encounter a similar situation? (I've already sent feedback to Apple.) Thanks in advance.Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

Been having this problem for awhile now:
When I attempt to sync my iPhone, iTunes will start syncing but after every few songs it syncs, iTunes interrupts the sync with a message saying the file could not be imported since it could not be read. I can go to that song iTunes can't import in my list of music and play it in iTunes and verify that it isn't corrupted.
Does anyone know what the issue is? Here is what I have tried so far:
* Restore entire iPhone
* Remove iTunes and all preferences, re install and re import music library
* Change file import settings to iTunes Plus AAC conversion (Not sure this even does anything)
* Manually converting EVERY song (Shift+Clicking) to AAC
* Attempt to sync music manually (e.g. only checked items)
The message is as follows: iTunes could not copy "such and such song" to the iPhone because the file could not be read. This error happens with a different song each time I remove the previous one indefinitely, I have over 3000 songs, and it would take me days before I could manually remove each song iTunes deems unworthy of syncing (if at all). And this ONLY happens if I am fortunate enough for iTunes to even attempt to sync the tracks, usually it just skips that step entirely saying it's been completed, with no music actually transferred...
I am leaving on an international trip soon and I very much want to have hard copies of my music with me, I've been wracking my brain for ages now and haven't been this frustrated since freshmen year of highschool.

It sounds like one of your music files may have been corrupted at some point and when trying to sync that song the iPhone is unable to do so. I know this must be a frustrating issue for you.
What I would suggest is that you first attempt to sync your iPhone without that particular song. To do this you will need to manually manage the music that goes to your iPhone. This article will tell you how -

I tried to restore my ipod touch 2nd generation and now it won't sync to itunes. On the screen is the USB end of the cord and the iTunes logo over it.
I have turned it off and on, held the off button down and the select button down but it still comes up with that picture on the screen. Have I broken it?

MimiIt means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.
