ITunes U sync problem

Yesterday I downloaded a bunch of iTunes U content over iTunes on a Windows 7 workstation and was able to load up my iPod Touch, but today I can't seem to sync that content with a second PC (XP Pro, if it matters). All software is up-to-date.
I've repeatedly synced the device and have invoked the Transfer Purchase feature in iTunes, but to no avail.
Thinking that downloading new content content on the second PC might kickstart the problem somehow, I downloaded a few more iTunes U items to iTunes on the second PC. The new items will not sync with the device, however, so now I have one set of content on my iPod Touch and a different set in iTunes on the PC.
Help?

  • New iTunes, same sync problems with Vista

    Hi
I got really excited when I saw in the fixes for the latest iTunes 8.1 for Windows that they had fixed sync problems with iPhones. They haven't!
On Vista Ultimate the sync has always been a problem, with either OutlookSyncClient or AppleMobileSync (or both) frequently crashing. With the previous couple of versions of iTunes, in my case, it has happened every third or fourth sync. Now with the new version it is almost every sync. It took me five disconnect and reconnect attempts and a couple of reboots to succcessfully sync this morning.
I've tried every fix I can find on line. I read that the Outlook sync problem was caused by an incompatibility with pst files that were not unicode. Oddly, I wasn't supposed to be able to sync with an old pst at all, but it did work erratically. Converting my pst to unicode didn't make any difference.
With the AppleMobileSync problem, I read that completely removing all Apple software in a particular order, restarting each time between removals, then clean reinstalling, should solve the problem. It didn't.
Now the problem is even worse and I'm at my wits end on it. Come on Apple, get a grip!
If anyone can shed any light on this I would be really grateful!

  • ITunes & Device Syncing Problems FREEZING

My mom updated my version of iTunes while I was away from home for a week and ever since I have been unable to use it for anything.
I can't run any other programs if iTunes is open because CPU usage spikes to maximum.
I can't sync my iPod Touch 4G OR update its iOS software because it freezes in both instances part way through backing up the device.
I have even tried to just let it finish syncing overnight, thinking maybe it would eventually make it, when I woke up this morning it was still at the same level of 'backing up' as when I went to bed.
I've never had problems with my iTunes or iPod like this. Help?!

    Hey there,
Well I think the get a Mac ads finally paid off...
Plug your iPhone into your computer and click on the Photos tab that comes up. Make the checkbox is ticked so iTunes actually syncs your photos. I recommend you make a new folder called "Photos" or whatever and place all the photos you want to be in your iPhone in that folder. Then in the Photos tab in iTunes, select that "Photos" folder to be imported into your iPhone. Finnaly press the "Apply" button in the bottom right and then press the "Sync" button. This should clear your problems.

  • When is Apple going to fix the iTunes 11 syncing problem!!!!

After troubleshooting the iTune 11 upgrade seems to cause syncing problems for everyone. I've tried everything and my ipod will no longer sync. Help! When is Apple going to apply a fix for this?????

My sync problem has been going on since I updated to IOS 8. I have had two telephone help calls and one Genius Bar visit. I am no further forward.
MY iPhone and iPad will randomly fill to capacity with OTHER files requiring a complete reboot. I have disabled iCloud drive and tried reorganising and deleting files from my iTunes library. All of my devices worked almost perfectly prior to this upgrade. I now dread syncing either of my devices to see what latest iTunes problem is now present.
I Have one simple question which no one at Apple has answered. When iTunes finds a file it doesn't like or will not sync why does it not flag it up with the reason for the problem. iTunes has done this for many years with incompatible files and missing album art work. If iTunes could only tell us why it is continually waiting for sync to start or give us a reason for our iOS device suddenly filling to capacity with OTHER files at least we would be able to do our own diagnosis and repairs. Apple need to sort out this issue soon. I'm losing patience and faith in Apple products. So no iPhone 6 upgrade for me till this gets properly sorted.

  • Itunes 9 Syncing problem

Hi i am getting this message...
'iTunes cannot sync information with the iPhone 3Gs because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing?
    Click on Yes.....
Error Message- iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services, reconnect or try again later...'
Can anyone help, this was working fine before i updated to 3.1 and iTunes 9...
    Thanks and regards
    Mat

I broke down and called Apple support. Eventually I got to a second level support person and after trying a few things which didn't help. She said I needed to uninstall iTunes and re-install. Actually you have to uninstall iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Software update, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Device Support & Apple Application update. And that's the order she had me do them and she said it did matter.
I rebooted. Downloaded a new iTunes & re-installed. Eventually it all worked.
So far no problems. I don't know what went wrong but the uninstall & reinstall answer was worthy of Microsoft at it's best.
If you try it I hope it works for you as well.

  • ITunes music sync problem: "drag & drop" works; "Sync Music" doesn't?

I've been trying to sync a few new playlists of music to my iPhone 3GS with frustrating results.
I'm hoping someone can explain to me what I may be doing wrong.
In the past when I wanted to add new music to my iPhone I would use what I refer to as the "Sync Music" or Music tab method.  I would rip the CD, create a new playlist for the album, plug in my iPhone, select it under the Devices list in iTunes then click on the Music tab up at the top of iTunes (I have "Sync Music" checked and "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" checked.  I would scroll down through the list of playlists, find the new playlist I created and check the box next to it and sync my phone to add the new music.
This has worked flawlessly for years.  Until now.
The last three albums I have tried to add this way will not sync to my 3GS.  The music will play perfectly on my MacBook in iTunes.  I ripped the music the same way, created the playlists the same way, and I can even get as far as the list of playlists under the "Sync Music" check box in the Music tab.  I can see the new playlists in this list, I check the boxes indicating I want to sync them to my phone, but when I click Apply and then Sync, the music never shows up on my iPhone.
I keep every new album I import in it's own playlist, so being able to select which playlists I want to sync to my phone is definitely the method I would prefer to use, but since it wasn't working I tried checking the box next to "Manually manage music and videos" on the Summary tab.  This of course disables the Music tab and unchecks the box next to "Sync Music".
I'm not too familiar with using this method to manage my music library, so maybe someone can show me a better way to do this, but with the "Manually manage music and videos" box checked the only way I know to add music to my iPhone is to drag a playlist one at a time from my iTunes library to my phone in the devices list.
This is where I get confused.  For some reason the new ablums I ripped, which I was unable to sync the way I am used to ("Sync Music" check box/Music tab method), can be dragged and dropped onto my phone and they are copied to the phone without a problem.
    WHY!?
Why, am I able to sync these ablums using this tedious and clunky drag and drop method and yet I'm unable to copy them to my iPhone using my prefered "Sync Music" checkbox method?
If you have any idea why I'm experiencing these problems or if you have experienced a similar problem please let me know.
    Thank you.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

  • ITunes 11 sync problems with iPhone 5 and ios 7

I just installed itunes 11 and it iTunes will no longer sync with my iPhone 5.  It would say that it was syncing and then the new files would not be transferred.  I uninstalled and re-installed.  All of my files were present in iTunes.  I would try to sync again and now it tells me I need 500 MB of space to complete the sync  I am only trying to sync 9 new songs.  No way its 500 MB.  Besides the bar at the bottom of itunes says I have 3.2 GB of space.  Is anyone else having trouble with the new iTunes?

Ok folks .. here is the solution that has finally worked for me.  After spending over 45 days on and off the phone with Apple support, this is the work around solution for the ibooks.
Set your IPAD as new and go through that whole set up process.  Plug in your device so it can communicate with iTunes.  When you load your books from iTunes to the IPAD do not synic the first time.  You will have to drag and drop from iTunes the books/music you want loaded.  After you manually do this, the synic seems to work fine.
Also things I have found.  By dragging and dropping the volume of books I have.  It took less time to load on my IPAD then it did trying to synic and waiting over 24 hours to load in IPAD (at which time you can't touch your device).  It was during this huge file load that the Ibooks App/iTunes/Cloud and whatever other Apple software all talk, that the books being loaded start to go squirrely and go into limbo.
Here is the problem.  When you get the message "waiting for files to copy", itunes and your device are having an issue.  So files that iTunes thinks it has copied over, actually go into limbo and sit there greyed out and won't work on your device.  When you try to re-synic again, iTunes says "hey!  I have already copied these over" and will sit there on "waiting for files to copy".
A way to fix the files that are in limbo, delete your app and re-download it.  The files that moved over from iTunes to your device will still be there, however, the files that are in limbo will disappear.  This should stop the synic issue ... or it will identify that there are issues with some of your files.
Is this a great fix ... nope!   I pushed and pushed to be allowed to talk with someone from DEV and got stonewalled.  I even brought in their Customer Support from Corp Head office and got absolutely no where.
BOTTOM LINE:  iTunes and your devices can not handle a huge transfer of files from iTunes to the device and it creates this limbo "waiting for files to be copied".  I find this ironic, because I have never had this problem when it comes to my music (transfering from iTunes to my IPOD), however, I haven't synic that device in awhile, guess i am scared it will do the same crap.
I also got Apple to acknowledge that when they test out their new software upgrades and devices that they ONLY test with iTunes Store only products (ie: music/books/apps).  Infact, Apple DOES NOT test any outside source materials.  I found this rather pathethically sad, since 99.9% of the users of any devices get their music/books from sources OTHER then the Apple Store.  This means that a file that USED to work for you (example: a song) and was loaded on your device fine before all these software upgrades in Nov/2013 might not work anymore because of a change they have made in their software.
Last conversation I had with Apple (both Support and Customer Service) was them telling me that DEV was looking into the problem but did not have an ETA on when a fix would happen.
Also keep in mind, I found that even with a 128kg AIR, it doesn't like to hang alot of books.   I found that at around 3k in books, the device starts to freeze up.  This contradicts the Apple concept, that the device can hold as many songs/books as you want, until you reach the max room available on the device.  I can clearly tell you this statement is infact false.  The device does not like to hold that many files and it starts to delay on you (quite noticeable) at 3k.
So, that in a nutshell has been my experience with Apple Support.  45 days later, I have reset my Air 10 times, tried to load all my books (at one time) 9 times, to finally find that the only way to get them in was a drag and drop the alphabetic (one letter at a time) and let it load on the IPAD before I would drag and drop more.  The synic problem doesnt happen anymore, I had to eliminate 2 books that itunes just would not send over to the IPAD even though there was nothing wrong with the file.  Am I happy?   NOPE ... talk about bait and switch.
Consumers beware ... Apple doesn't necessarily deliver what it says it will.

  • ITunes/iPad sync problem?

I've been syncing my ipad fine over the last few months, at least 2 or 3 times week, but today iTunes has suddenly decided that it doesn't want to. It says that I need to uninstall iTunes, then install the 64-bit version.. which is what this version should be anyway..
I've installed nothing new on my PC (Windows 7) and i've even tried turning it off and on again.
    Anyone had this problem?

Sorry. I didn't realzie that the "other" came back as well. That is an indication that you are syncing something corrupt. Sometimes the only way to get rid of that huge "Other" content is to restore as new and start all over again....sometimes that is, not always, but sometimes, that's what you have to do.
Obviously something is getting corrupted so unless you can pin down for sure what it is, I recommend restoring as new, and start adding things back to the iPad in small increments and see how it goes. That includes adding music back in small bits as well.

  • TS1474 iTunes/USB sync problem with iPhone 5

Syncing my iPhone 5 to iTunes via USB has gotten very, very slow in the last few days and since yesterday my calendar hangs and does not sync. Possible solutions?

In addition, I just turned off syncing calendars, and now I'm "hanging" on syncing contacts. I think that the problem is with syncing, period, not limited to a particular data base.

  • Blackberry desktop software and itunes music sync problem

Ok so I have a Blackberry Torch 9800, OS 6.0 and the current blackberry desktop softer version 6.1.0.35.
I was previously able to access all my itunes music and playlists via the desktop software. But since I completed the software updates not all my music is loading into the software and none of my playlists are showing up.
I'm not sure if this is related but I believe that twice my phone has rebooted itself. I've also noticed that the new desktop software has had issues detecting my phone. My main concern is the problem with the music sync issue.
In the interim I have just dragged and dropped music files onto my memory card. Can you please let me know what I can do to fix this if anything....thanks.

I just experienced the same thing and after feeling frustrated for about an hour and wishing I'd learn my lesson and stop upgrading software for no reason, I went into the Desktop Manager software Device Settings.
Under Device Settingsgo to the Media tab and you'll see a Music Source option. I found that my default setting was on Windows Media Player instead of iTunes. Once I switched it back my view refreshed and my playlists showed up again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Itunes playlist syncing problems

Hello to everyone at the forum.
I have a Blackberry 8900 with a 32GB micro sd card linked up to a HP laptop with windows 7, used mainly for music. I have playlists created on Itunes and I use blackberry media sync to transfer said playlists. Out of the 2000 tracks on both playlists roughly 1300 are being synced to the device. The other 700 tracks do not appear under the "song" category however they do appear in the playlist in a red background with the song information from the file as it is stored on windows unlike the way the information is presented on itunes.
The majority of the unsynced tracks are in mp3 format therefore format problems are unlikely. Also one particular album can contain both synced and unsynced tracks.
    Your help is greatly appreciated,

Then my theory about match taking over is correct and unless you disable it you will not get your playlists back.
iTunes will automatically begin scanning your computer's library for matches.
A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume the process at anytime by clicking the Stop or Start button.
Once iTunes has completed matching and uploading your iTunes library, your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your computer.

  • Windows 8.1 - itunes - contacts sync problem

    Hello,
I'm using Windows 8.1 and itunes 12.1.1.4. I cannot sync contacts in my Outlook to my iphone (ios 8.2). When I had Windows 7 in my computer, I was able to sync contacts via usb to my iphone. But after I renewed my computer with Windows 8.1, I cannot sync via usb. Ok, of course I can sync over Exchange with activesync, however at that time, I loose some fields of my contacts like other phone field. Yes, this is a limititation of Exchange active sync. That's why I want to sync contacts over usb from my computer. By the way, I'm using a cached Outlook file (.ost).
Can anybody have an idea or solution? Or at least is there any log piece showing what is going wrong?
    Best,

    Hello brenden dv,
I had already checked those articles. As I wrote above I'm using Outlook 2013. My OS is Windows 8.1. All my softwares are 64 bit. I can sync calender information with Exchange on the fly; however, this is not the case for contacts. Because, due to activesync limitations, I cannot sync all the contact fields like "other phone" field and this is also documented by Microsoft. By the way, I already peformed iTunes Diagnostics and nothing is red, all of the items were green and passed the test completely.
However, although "sync with Microsoft" contacts option is enabled in iTunes, I cannot even see the names of groups in the below box. By the way, there is no iTunes add-in among Outlook add-ins. I can only see iCould Outlook add-in and it is enabled. It seems there is a problem with Outlook and iTunes communication although all the tests have been passed successfully from iTunes Diagnostics.
Is there any special article for Microsoft Outlook 2013? Or do you know any file or folder that iTunes drops logs as to what it is performing.
    Thx,

  • ITunes podcast sync problem

    Hi,
I have my iPod and iPhone 3GS set up to sync only selected podcasts (all unplayed for iPod, 5 oldest unplayed for iPhone). Here's what happens: If there is only one podcast that is unplayed, and I listen to it and then delete it from iTunes (meaning obviously there are no podcasts left to that subscribed podcast feed), I remain subscribed in iTunes, but it gets taken out of the list of "selected podcasts to update" in the settings sections of both the iPod/iPhone. I then have to go back to iPod/iPhone settings, and reselect the podcast feed to be synced with the device. Obviously, it's a waste of time... It also is contradictory with that dumb "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you haven't been listening to it" message.
    Any solutions out there?

No they haven't fixed it. I still, today with the latest updates, am getting that same stupid (non existent) error message "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you haven't been listening to it" How do I turn the #$@% thing off?
Some of my podcasts only are on line for 24 hours before the source removes them (an asinine policy) and if I don't happen to notice Itunes has kicked into that error mode, I can never get those episodes.
I guess my habits compound this problem. I never listen to a podcast on the computer, nor do I ever sync the IPod. I do it all manually to carefully control what is on both. It doesn't mean I'm not listening, just that the computer doesn't know it.

  • ITunes music sync problems (clouds and dotted circles)

I think this is a common problem but I tried several solutions I found online and nothing seems to work.
When I connect my iPhone to iTunes I have several songs on it that have a dotted circle and that are in grey font. These songs are mostly from an album I purchased some time ago and then removed from my iTunes library since I did not want to hear it anymore.
I would like to get those phones off my phone. I tried to uncheck the "sync music" box and made a sync but this did not work. I also tried to remove all songs from my iphone using the storage management settings but this did not work as well. On a related note, there are several songs that show up on my phone and that have a little cloud next to them. These songs do not show up in iTunes when I connect the phone.
So in summary: My iPhone shows songs (with a cloud) that I do not see in iTunes when I check what is supposed to be on my phone. And what I see in iTunes (the songs with the dotted circle) do not seem to be on my iPhone.
This is driving me crazy. Any suggestions anyone?

The songs with the cloud symbol don't appear in iTunes because they aren't on your phone.  Those are links to your previously purchased music in the iTunes store so you can easily download them by tapping the symbol.
If you want help with the "dotted circle" issue you should post this question over in the iTunes forum.  The only thing I can suggest is to delete all your music (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>Music, tap Edit, then tap next to All Songs), then sync it back using iTunes.  If you already tried that unsuccessfully, try posting over in the iTunes forum.

  • Itunes library sync problems. Purchased items only music that syncs.

Itunes library problems syncing. Purchased items from apple all syncing. Progressively losing ability to listen to my CD's I've loaded myself. ie: library music or store bought CD's. Some albums unplayable and some albums only a few songs playable. It's almost as if apple has decided that if I don't buy from them I won't be able to play it. New problem this week only. Cant fix despite frequent attempts to sync ipod. Library seems to be freezing or something at stage 7/7 of syncing items in library.

what computer are you using? if it a windows computer   make sure you update your itunes version to 11.1.2
are you able to play the songs from your computer?
try  this go to edti> preference> devices > at the bottom click the reset sync histore and  choose ok close itunes pull up a new one and try if it work
