ITunes update didnt work

Tonight I decided to do the update for my iTunes. Downloaded the update etc. After installation, I tried to run iTunes, and got the error message: QuickTime Version 7.0.4 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime Version 7.1.3 or later, try reinstalling iTunes. I figured no biggie, go back to apples site to install the latest version of QuickTime needed, which is really just the update for iTunes, and the update description says it is suppose to have the latest version included. I have 'repaired' iTunes, and reinstalled twice. After reinstallation, it will open, but music wont play. I go to troubleshoot for music not playing in iTunes, and it tells me to download the update. Update completely screws my computer up.. whats going on here?

You're going to have to connect the phone to iTunes and restore the phone. iTunes should tell you that it has detected a device in recovery mode that needs to be restored.

Restore your media from the backup created prior to formating the computer.
You did backup your media and other important files before formating correct?  Not doing so is not smart.
If no backup exists, delete the entries in the iTunes Library for the content and iTunes will then allow you to download the purchases.

  • ITunes update FINALLY WORKED perfectly...

As I was getting ready to shut down computer I got an unexpected popup from Apple prompting a program update of iTunes and Quicktime, and I haven't even been on iTunes past couple of days. The download went smoothly, was prompted to reboot, then I opened the iTunes, it was the correct program (7.4.3.1) and all my music is there, everything dandy! NOW I many seriously consider buying an iPOD since I know I've got the updated iTunes program up and running.

Reading your mail I upgraded the other day both Itunes and QT after that Itunes didn't work took ages to load my library, in the end I trashed Itunes 7.5 and downloaded an earlier vers unfortunately I am not on my Mac at present so can't remember the website, oldapps.com maybe any how it is working fine again. The lesson I learnt is "if it is working don't change it" wait for everybody else to find out what the problems are!!!!! Hope this helps

  • ITunes update not working due to Bonjour

I'm trying to install the latest update for iTunes, and I keep getting an error message saying something like "the feature you are trying to use is on a network..." (can't remember the rest) and basically it's asking me to choose another location that bonjour.msi is in. The folder is right, the program is there, and it's still not working. As a result, I can't finish the update, I can't access iTunes from my start menu or any icons (I literally have to right click an mp3, hit open with iTunes, and then have it open from there). My iPod is still syncing, but it's not even recognizing my iPhone because it also gives me an Apple Mobile Device Driver error, which I assume is connected to the Bonjour issue, but maybe it's not. HELP. I have already installed the latest version of Bonjour Print Services like I saw in a recent Bonjour thread, but that did nothing for me AT ALL. I'm getting very frustrated with the entire thing because I haven't deleted a thing or changed anything about my computer, and this update is making me beyond angry.

Me three....what's up with iTunes tonight, is there a server problem?  Anyone called Apple???

  • Broke out of the box and itune update not working

Just got apple tv delivered today but it wasn't working out of the box... flashing white light..
So i connected it to itunes via micro usb and itunes won't restore it looks like the .dmg is missing..
This is really bad, surely apple have noticed the software update is missing???
Did this update work for anyone?

It's impossible to know how much work there is putting it back, it sounds simple but it might not be, it's been down a few days now, I suppose it depends on how much inconvenience it is to return it for another.

  • Every time I try to restore my phone from the back up, after the update didnt work, its saying it cannot do this because it cannot start a session

I tried updating my phone, and right towards the end it said it could not update for whatever reason. So I restored it and updated it, and now it's not letting me restore it from my backup, even though it keeps asking if I want to.

Well, the problem isn't the back up because I already have a backup saved that I can restore from, I honestly don't know how, but I do, and it has all my apps. The problem is restoring it. I keep getting the "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod "King". A duplicate file name was specified. With my 3G iPod touch, I did not have it named as "King". I had it as another name. I don't know if that helps, but as I said before, Backup-wise I'm okay for now. Restore-wise I'm not.
    NOTE: Reinstalling iTunes doesn't help.

  • ITunes updater not working

I already have iTunes, and I've been using iTunes for about a year. When I opened iTunes today, it told me a newer version was avalible, so I clicked yes to install the new iTunes. It came up fine and went through all the normal operations, until it got to the part of the installation where it said "removing backup files". It stayed like that for (literally) 10 minutes. I tried to cancel the operation and restart the iTunes setup shortcut, but the original page won't cancel, and the new page won't cancel the installation. As of right now, I still have my iTunes library, but no iTunes program. I have no idea what to do! Did anyone else here run into that problem or at least install the new iTunes from a previous one?

You might of had antivirus running when you went to update it and it interfered with the install. Uninstall iunes AND quicktime, clean the installer files out by going here and rolling down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Now turn off/disable antivirus and download/install iTunes off the apple site http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

  • HT1923 I can't get the latest itunes update to work

I'm trying to copy any remaining files from my iPhone 3gs on to itunes ahead of upgrading to an iphone 4. I also use an ipod classic 120 gb on the same itunes account.
Itunes asked me to update to the latest version (10.6.3.25) but the Mobile Device Support won't update its stuck at version 5.1.1.4 and I can't uninstall it either. Even after going through all the steps to manually remove it, it hasn't uninstalled.
    What do I do next?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Ipod nano and itunes update not working

I bought a new ipod nano, says I need to update version of itunes, each time I do, it restarts my computer but nothing has updated??

  • IPod Sync and iTunes update not working

I plugged my iPod (Touch 3g) into my laptop to sync with my iTunes library and was confronted with the following error message:
"iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try later"
I thought I'd update my software to eliminate that as a source of the problem, but Apple Software Update gives me the following error message:
"The Apple Software Update server could not be found. Check your Internet settings and try again."
I've tried restarting my laptop, but both messages remain. I'm guessing the two messages are related to the same issue. Anyone else getting the same and/or have a possible solution?
    Thanks!
