  • Why is my iTunes volume turned all the way down every time I launch the program?

Everytime I launch iTunes I get a warning and my iTunes volume is volume is turned all the way down. How do I fix this?

    This worked for me:
    Close iTunes
    Open Finder and navigateto: Users>YourAccountName>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iTunes.plist
Move that file to the desktop
Launch iTunes (which will create a new prefs file)
If the problem is now fixed, move that prefs file from the desktop to the Trash. There might be some personal settings in iTunes you will need to re-do.

Check to see if the "silent" switch is turned on. This is either the hardware switch next to the volume control or a software switch on the "recent apps" tray depending on how you have your iPad configured (Settings > General).
Too see the software switch on the "recent apps" tray double-click the Home button and swipe the tray to the right.

  • Installing iTunes has turned all of the icons into the itunes icon.

Hi, recently after updating iTunes, it turned all of the icons on Windows 7 into itunes icon.  Uninstalling itunes will restore it but installing any version of itunes will bring the problem back.  I backed up my data and did a clean install of Windows 7 SP1.  As soon as I migrated my data and reinstalled iTunes, the problem comes back.  Any suggestions?

    Try Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

"You have to change your router's IP address to be able to access it. It will not give you the internet."
I'm not sure what that means Richard, but I did change the router's IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.5.1- isn't that what you meant in your first post. I know that isn't reflected in my screen capture that I took last night, but I did do that this morning after I read your post.
"Log on to your router and change two settings.
Change the setting in Setup from PPPoE to Automatic Configuration-DHCP and click on save.
Click on Advance Routing and change the setting from Gateway to Router then click on save."
I did this and still same results as far as I can tell. Can't get online through the router.
"Click on MAC address clone under setup tab ... click enable & click clone ...click save settings ... Check the IPaddress under WAN page ....
If getting IP in public range .... try going online ...."
I tried this- at least to the part about checking the IP address under WAN. I assume you mean the WAN page in the modem setup- nothing looked any different after trying what you suggested, and I'm not really sure where I would be "getting IP in public range" or what that means.
I'm about to give up and just buy a new router to see if I can get the same lack of results with a different one. My ISP maintains that everything is set up correctly on their end and really can't do anything more for me. The Modem works and is set up correctly and they can give tech support for a router.
Here's what my basic setup looks like now:

Here's what the advanced tab looks like now:

  • ITunes says volume tuned all the way down - no iTunes sound!

Today iTunes pops up a notification saying 'iTunes volume turned all the way down'. The speakers are on, volume is up. All other media play fine - but there is no sound if I try and play anything through iTunes!
I've never had this problem before.
I downloaded iTunes again, restarted my Mac and still, same problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

FYI, I can't say for sure this will fix your prob, but reinstalling an app on a Mac does NOT re-do the Preferences file, so if the Prefs are wonky, the reinstall will make no difference.
    *Renewing the Prefs*
with iTunes not running, move the file Users>YourAccountName>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iTunes.plist to the desktop
Launch iTunes (the app will automagically create a new prefs file)
If the prob is now fixed, move that prefs file to the Trash. There might be some personal settings in iTunes you will need to re-do.

  • ITunes opens with volume turned down

For the past couple days everytime i open up iTunes it gives me a popup that the volume in itunes is turned all the ways down. i usually never touch the volume in itunes, rather the system volume, so i dont know why it "mutes" itself...

  • ITunes automatically garbled all Chinese characters in mp3 tags

I tried to reinstall my audio collection on my iPod. When I uploaded my collection of Chinese CDs from mp3 files, iTunes automatically turned all ID3 tags into garbage. (So, not only were the tags turned into gibberish in iTunes, the information in the mp3 files themselves was all destroyed.)
I tried to use Right Click > 'Convert ID3 Tags', but got the error "Could not convert ID3 tags for all the selected songs. The songs may be write-protected or of the wrong type." The songs are normal mp3 files and have all protected removed.
    What can I still do?

Correct! I use the "globe" key to switch among keyboard when I need it and English or Italian to make accented characters.
All characters appears displayed correctly before the email is sent.
I did some further checks and discovered that actually arise sometimes when some email Outlook 2003 client is involved in the replies back and forth. Under certain circumstances the font is changed to Sinsum and the accented chars are displayed as...
    à   è   é   ì   ò  ù
    脿 猫 茅 矛 貌 霉
    Any clue?
    Tks.

  • ITunes crashes upon opening after telling me the volume is turned all the way down....

After updating to iTunes 11.1.3, everything was fine initially. Suddenly though, as of yesterday, my iTunes decided that it was going to turn off it's own program-controlled volume. It was kind enough to alert me to this, and I closed the warning about it and set about raising the volume, wondering why I had turned it down in the first place. At this point though, iTunes had stopped responding at all. So, I forced it to quit, reopened it, and once again it alerted me to the fact that the volume was turned all the way off. Okay, I said, told it not to warn me again, closed the warning and then there was a new alert about the fact that my previous forced closure of iTunes resulted in extra windows being closed that it was now asking me if I wanted to reopen. I can't even click on the "Don't Reopen" button, as the program itself once again stops responding after I acknowledge the first warning about the lack of volume. Anytime I open iTunes it does this (repeated without fail, several dozen times now...). Once iTunes is open, none of the options in the Help or Edit or File or any of those buttons in the taskbar are actually clickable, since I can't do anything before acknowledging the alert about the volume, after which it inevitably stops responding. Tried restarting the Mac to no avail. Tried downloading and installing a fresh iTunes hoping it might repair the damaged files, to no avail. I can't actually remove the current iTunes from the computer since apparently it is 'essential to OS X'. Not really sure how to go about fixing this issue.....could anybody shed some light on this?
    Thanks!

In that case I would reinstall your itunes. It will just install over the top of the existing program. As a precaution it is usually wise to make a copy(Backup) of your itunes folder when installing itunes. It should not affect anything but you never know
You can find the install package for itunes 11 here

  • ITunes starts automatically and the volume is all the way down

Hi everyone, lately I have been experiencing some issues with iTunes. It starts at login (even though the option is not selected) and gives me an alert that the app volume is turned all the way down. Furthermore every time I try to turn up the volume, it will automatically jump back to the previous point.
After many tries, I finally completely re-installed my OS and moved all my data through migration assistant. I only moved applications, music, pictures and documents, leaving behind all the configuration files and other stuff that seemed replaceable. This didn't work either.
    Any suggestions?

common problem..sounds like your volume flex cable has shorted. bring to apple service tream

  • TS3274 My sound On/Off button does not work. I have to turn volume all the way down to silence it. Is the switch faulty, or am I missing sometging

The volume On/Off switch does not work.  It does not mute sound. I have to turn volume all the way down to silence the sound.
Is the switch faulty or am I missing something here?

well first remove the case.  check the headphone jack for debris.  do a hard reset by holding sleep/wake and home button down together for 10 seconds untill apple appears.  backup and restore via itunes.  if issue persists the device needs repair

  • IPad air keyboard  makes sound when volume is turned all the way down

My iPad air's keyboard makes noise, even when the volume is turned all the way down. Is this normal? If so how can I turn off the keyboard typing noise without disabling entirely.

Aloha Raptorcheese, Good news, if you have you have change with buttons turned on you can control the keyboard volume with the normal volume control. No need to go back to settings all the time.

  • My volume automatically turns itself all the way down whenever I start my ipod (even when I'm not playing music)

My volume automatically turns itself all the way down whenever I start my ipod (even when I'm not playing music). As soon as I slide my ipod into opening the volume goes all the way down. Even if it's already completely off, the audio icon comes on the screen, which tells me the ipod is still trying to lower the volume. As I said, I don't even have to be listening to music. I can be on the opening screen. When I turn the volume back up, it immediatley turns it back down. It only doesn't go down if I physically hold my finger to volume bar on the touch screen.
And yes, I've updated all my software (on my ipod and laptop). I've also entirely reset my ipod twice.
Tell me, is it time to ditch the ipod and find some other sort of mp3 player (this is one problem at the end of a long list of less debilitating but equally annoying issues I've had with my 2 ipod touches)

Yeah, I probably mean restore. Multiple times though!
Also, I forgot to mention that this issue persists regardless of whether or not my headphones are plugged in.

  • Downloaded ringtone, from iTunes store, is so loud! Volume is all the way down, but the ringtone is crazy loud. Help?!

I downloaded a ringtone from the iTunes store and set it as my text tone. Cool, right? Well, IT'S SO LOUD. My volume is all the way down and people clear across the building can hear it! What can I do?

You should have gotten a user manual.  If the manual is of no help, contact the manufacturer.

  • Ipad Volume keeps turning itself all the way down

ipad Volume keeps turning itself all the way down rendomly i`ve tryed everything from upgrading to V5 to rest the device what should i do

Is the switch above the volume set for mute?  Accidentally bumping that would turn down the volume.
Try Settings > General > Lock Rotation to On and see if that eliminates the problem (although beware that the switch will now control screen rotation.  If sound starts working corrcetly, but your screen lock keeps setting, then I think you are having a switch problem.
