Itunes will not come up on my computer

itunes will not come up on my screen. It shows up in windows task manager. When I click on the desktop icon, it flashes off then back on again, but itunes doesn't come up. Quick-time comes up when I click on the icon. itunes shows 44,540 on the Mem Usage column on the Process tab of Windows task Manager. I don't know what to do next. When I click on a song from my "My Music" folder under itunes library, it won't play. I'm out of ideas

If itunes.exe stays in task manager there are a few things to try. Easiest one is to start itunes and hold down the shift key until iTunes starts. Choose "Create new library" when prompted.
If itunes.exe just flashes briefly in task manager, I believe in the past that indicates malware on your PC.

    Hi ryanlandon,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If iTunes does not launch on your PC, I'd recommend trying the troubleshooting method from this article:

  • TS1717 Itunes will not open it says my computer is missing javaScriptcore.dll. I've downloaded java but I still get this message. How do I fix this probplem?

My Itunes app on my Windows 7 pc will not open. It gives me a message saying my computer is missing 'javaScriptcore.dll'. I've downloaded Java to the computer and restarted it but I'm still getting this message. How do I fix this problem?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

  • ITunes will not update or remove from computer

I just got the new iPhone 4s and I plugged it into my Windows XP computer and when I went to iTunes it says "The iPhone can not be used because it requires iTunes version 10.5 or later."  When I try to update iTunes, it won't update and a window pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resouce that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."  The same window comes up saying the same thing when I try to remove the program completely from the computer.  Without iTunes I can't put any of my music or apps from my old ipod onto my new phone. I can't seem to find a way to fix the problem. If anyone knows how to fix this issue, your help would be very appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Amanda

Your problem is very much like my problem. I am interested in the answer to this question. I have posted question about not syncing my library with my iPod Touch.
I also have Windows 7 and have SP1 successfully installed. Any help would be sooo appreciated. Thank you.

  • Itunes will not show up on my computer, no matter how many times I've downloaded it

I tried downloading Itunes 10.7, and it says "thank you for downloading itunes." and yet it is no where to be found on my computer.
I am using windows 7, 64 bit laptop, and it says that it is the 64 download...
I do not currently have any form of itunes downloaded onto my computer, and i just got my iphone,
so I am at a loss, I hope I can find some sort of help, this is frustrating.

    Restart your Mac, try again.
To give a specific album from the iTunes Store, go to the album page, click the arrow next to the Buy Album button, choose Gift This Album from the pop-up menu, and follow the onscreen instructions.
If restarting didn't help, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / View My Account / Edit Payment Information.
Make sure your billing information is correct including the Security code and expiration date then click Done.
    Try again.

  • HT1420 ITunes will NOT let me authorize my computer.

I only have 3 computers authorized and I'm trying to authorize a 4th computer.  Every time I try to authorize the 4th computer it tells me I already have 5 computers authorized.  I'm running Windows 8.1 and ITunes version 11.3.  I originally had 5 computers authorized but I deauthorized 2 of them to try to get my new computer authorized.  When I go to my account in ITunes it only shows that 3 computers are authorized but it keeps telling me I have 5 computer authorize when I try to authorize my new computer.  HELP!

Thanks...That worked.  However, what's the sense of being able to deauthorize a computer if you can't reauthorize one in its place?
Don't know. I have no problem with it myself.

  • Itunes will not download on my windows computer

i cannot get itunes to download onto my windows computer.  any suggestions as for what i can do?

Do you get an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • HT1386 For some reason my iTunes will not connect to the internet even though the computer is connected. Any ideas?

Unable to start sync because iTunes will not connect to internet.  Computer is connected but iTunes will not connect.  I even deleted iTunes and downloaded again.  Will not connect still.

I am experiencing this problem as well.
I have access to the internet and can download songs from the music store but iTunes is being its usual pain in the rear and says I do not have an internet connection when I try to download any updates.
This does not seem to be a firewall issue, at least as far as I can tell, as I have McAfee and both iTunes and iTunes Helper have Full Access in my firewall settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PLEASE HELP ITUNES WILL NOT LOAD

    hi thanks for looking
iv got the latest version of itunes but when i click on it i starts to load then just stops
    cheers steve

    I have similar issues...
Three pc's, two are identical hardware twins (one is a clone for the other as absolute backup) the other my home PC.
One of the twins upgraded no problems. The sibling upgraded but iTunes will not come to the desktop, it loads and sits in the process list doing nothing.
I checked all the "answers" in this forum and nothing worked on the twin pc at all except uninstalling and going back to the previous version which I had to get from the hippo site (note to Apple: at least leave the previous version available for download for those "update" moments).
The home machine upgraded but I lost my audio drivers and software completely. Fixed it by re-installing the audio drivers and software after installing iTunes.
Either way you look at it there are a lot of users on the pc with this problem, Apple have changed something fundamental (you never used to have to reboot after upgrading or fresh installing) and it is causing issues that they should address.
Wasted a lot of time sorting this out for myself and not sure I want to "upgrade" to the next release, not sure I trust Apple software forward of this as I have a lot of music stored and the thought of having to really have to recreate the library because of an update issue ith no fall back...
    Rabtok.

  • I have just had my computer fixed because of viruses but my itunes will not open. The message comes up 'itunes has encountered a problem etc.' Also my library showing music and apps for my ipad is not there.

I have just had my computer fixed because of viruses and now my itunes will not open. It keeps coming up with the message 'itunes has encountered a problem etc.'. Also my library, apps etc will not open. Any suggestions please!

Remove and re-install iTunes.  This has no affect on the media that is stored on the computer.
That being said, depending on what was done, it may also be necessary to restore the iTuneslibrary.itl file from the backup of the computer.
