Itunes will not sync with Windows 8.1

I recently bought a new computer that has Windows 8.1 on it. I downloaded the latest version of itunes from the itunes website. All of my itunes account info is there but when I try to sync my iphone 5 or my iPad 4 it does not recognize it. However it does recognize my devices in My PC and I can view my pictures etc.

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

iDevices are not backup devices... restore your media/playlists from the backup of your computer.

Although you used the new USB 3.0 port, the actual connection speed is still USB2.0, as the iPod Dock connector, does not have the 10 times faster USB3.0 signal pins, the connection speed is still 480Mbits/s
I assumed that you have tried the other USB 2.0 port to no success..
Can you do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.

Try a low-tech solution. Check the condition of the HotSync port connection on both the T3 and the cradle.
Look for any possible corrosion, coating, or bent fingers in the cradle. Sometimes a good cleaning with either Contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol can work miracles! (Use a q-tip swabbed in it, do not pour it onto the PDA).

Playlists will not sync with Windows PC

My playlist in iTunes will not sync with my ipod Touch. any ideas?

Okay, at the office I did the "null Sync" leaving contacts and calendar for last...It did sync...I came home and viola! it synced here as well...Only thing, my contacts changed a little...WMDC asks about "save to my device" or "save to pc"...it is a bit confusing because the choices on the phone are little different...Any advice on this?
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it syncs at the office tomorrow morning...Thanks for your help

I just upgraded from iphone 4 to 5 and didnt have time for verizon to sync my phone so i did it when i got home. the music from my itunes will not sync with my phone. it shows the music on the usage bar when the phone is plugged in but shows no content on the phone. any suggestions?

I have a similar problem. Mine started with iTunes putting multiple versions of the same songs (whole and seemingly random albums) onto my iPod 5, but after trying to remedy that I now cannot sync any music of any sort. It took random songs off and then started getting stuck at the "waiting to apply changes" stage (as apparently many people have seen) and after trying all the things that are supposed to work I now have an iPod that doesn't have any music on it (because a lot of my music was not purchased on iTunes) and won't sync music or finish any other kind of sync.
It seems like the "fixes" discovered so far don't work for everyone.
My iPod is 5th gen running iOS 7.0.4 (but problem started on 7.0.3) with the latest version of iTunes, for reference.

I tried it with the ipod in disk mode, and it still won't show up in itunes, but does in my computer-however when i click on it my computer freezes so i have to unplug it.
I've been through several forums already, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, updating my drivers, renaming the driver that the ipod plugs into, all with no success. I used to have a similar problem on my old laptop, but this could be cured by right-clicking on the ipod in my computer and clicking 'format' - my ipod would then be wiped, but itunes would then recognize it and i could sync everything back onto the device-it was time consuming but it worked. However i am unable to do thisnow as the ipod either doesn't show in my computer, or freezes my laptop when i do finally get it to show in disc mode.

Centro & Treo 650 will not sync with Windows 7

The 6.2 software will not work with windows 7. I have a new computer and can not get the phones to hot sync with my new computer. The Bluetooth does not recognize either of the phones. None of the other Bluetooth devices nor my car recognizes the phones. I do not have a data package with the phones so doing anything over the internet is out of the question. How do I get all the information that is on my two phones onto my computer?

Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
If you still can't get a working installer from the standard download page, try the following direct download links for 11.1.5.5:

My ipad or iphone will not sync with my Macbook pro. This is the first "windoze" type I have ever had with an apple product. Been using them since Mac SE.

I have ipod classic, 160gb, with new computer with Windows 8 and latest version of Itunes - came from xp and previous version of itunes - and never had a syncing problem.
All my songs are in new itunes on new computer, however ipod will not sync. Have received -50, and duplicate file name - I restored and it will go so far and then freeze. Or I get -53. Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.
