Itunes won't delete podcasts that I've played on my ipod, only itunes

I have itunes setup to delete podcasts after its played and it works great. However, since I use my ipod more to play podcasts, I would also like Itunes to sync up with my ipod and delte podcasts that I've played on the ipod.
Does anyone know how to set this up?

Might be an authorization issue in iTunes. Try deauthorizing your computer through the Store menu at the top of iTunes and then authorizing it again. Once that is done try transferring purchases from the iPod Touch.

  • How do I delete old podcasts that I downloaded directly to my iPod Touch?

I cannot delete old podcasts that I downloaded directly to my iPod Touch through its Wifi connection. Manually deleting them in iTunes doesn't work--my laptop doesn't recognize that they are on my iPod. What should I do? I want my memory back!

I have the same problem.  I usually can delete by swiping but for some reason the delete button doesn't show up on this podcast.
I don't know exactly what I did, but when I downloaded from the iTunes store over WiFi, it just downloaded a link to the podcast so I need to be connected to a Wifi network to play it.

Or because the episodes are video but are in a format which plays on iTunes but not on an iPod Touch. Only the originator of the podcast can do anything about that.

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
See: iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
    Try MPEG Streamclip.

Tap on the number in the notes section and a menu should pop up that include Copy. Tap Copy, then either paste into one of the phone numbers in the contact, or paste into the dialpad (to paste tap once in the field and a menu will appear).

  • I recently received an I Pod touch 4th generation. I synced it to my computer and now all my pictures that I have ever taken are now on my Ipod. How do I delete pictures that are not taken by the Ipod but were synced onto the ipod?

    Hi megan21,
Connect your iPod to iTunes, click on your device, and then click on the "Photos" page. If you don't want any photos on your iPod, make sure the "Sync photos from [photo application]" checkbox is unchecked. Or, you could select specific photos in that page to sync to your iPod.
    Hope this helps,

  • Podcast no longer exist and podcast can not be played on this ipod

Ok I subscribed to two podcast one video and one audio and when I try to sync them to my ipod a message pops up and says they can't be synced because they no longer exist. I don't understand that because it downloads them each time there is a new one.
Well I found a way around that, but now my problem is the video podcast that I subscribed to, when I try to put it on my ipod says it can not be played on this ipod. I don't know why, it's the same format as the other one (.mov). I know I can reformat it, I already did that with one but it's like twice the size or more of the original format plus I don't want to sit and reformat each one it takes too much time.
If there is anyway I can fix this without reformatting please let me know. And if you know how to fix the first problem please that would be great.
btw I have an ipod nano 3rd generation.

Are the files you are trying to import mp3's? If not then either use iTunes to convert them or get some other third party program (i found a few really good ones but i can't remember what they were called). If they are mp3 maybe try converting them to mp3 again using a different encoder? (my LAME encoded ones seem to work fine)

  • HT204370 I purchased a movie that don't play & a cd but only 2 songs play

I purchased a movie that don't play & a cd but only 2 songs play

Depending upon what country that you are in (music and films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete music tracks and the film from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music and/or films or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and/or film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • IPod nano won't delete podcast

I have a first generation iPod nano, 4GB. There is one podcast episode on my iPod that doesn't show up under Podcasts when my iPod is on; I have to go into Artists and select the episode under that. So when my iTunes comes up, I can't find that episode under Podcasts OR Music, even if I search the artist. I've saved it on a playlist now so I can see it in iTunes, but I can't delete it. I've tried changing the genre, the artist name, the media kind (it won't let me change it), even converting the ID3 tags (and I have no idea what that does.)
This has never happened with any podcasts I've had on my iPod before, and this is not a new podcast.
Does anyone know what my problem is and how to fix it?
EDIT: oops, I didn't mean to post this in the Using iTunes for Mac category. Could an admin please move this to the appropriate place? thanks

    Hi.
I had this problem too, but it was fixed for me in an update to iTunes.
It's a bug; you aren't doing anything wrong.
In iTunes, go to iTunes-> Check For Updates...
    Install the latest version.
    Sync you iPod.
Let me know if that fixes it.
If it doesn't, here's what you can try:
In the Summary page of your iPod (in iTunes), check Manually Manage Media or something to that effect.
Then, click the triangle by your iPod in the source list.
Choose Podcasts. Find the ones you want to get rid of, select them, and press the delete key.
Afterwards, you can try unchecking Manually Manage...
    Good luck!

  • Deleting Podcasts that I've produced

OK folks...if you can help me with this...if you go to podcast section in iTunes and enter DirksOutdoors in the search...you'll see three podcast shows that look exactly alike but one ( the most recent upload) has the three podcast shows that work fine. The other two are inadvertant and I need to delete those...the podcasts on them are not active or even downloadable as you will see. I only want to keep the third one now that I know what I'm doing on the upload.
How can I delete those other two podcast shows so that I can reduce the confusion to potential listeners...??
    Dave

I see what you are describing!
Here's a page from Apple on various podcasting issues...
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
And here is the pertinent section excerpted...
If you are the feed owner and the feed that is listed in iTunes is not under your control, you can attempt to contact the owner by finding the feed URL and examining the code for contact information. You can also contact iTunes by navigating to the podcasts page (where all of episodes for the podcast are listed) and selecting the Report a Concern link. In the Choose Reason list, select "is mine and I would like it removed from the Music Store" and provide a detailed explanation of the problem as well as contact information.
    I hope it helps!

    hey,
I am having a problem getting rid of an app that I add to my touch via the web. It came from the itunes store but wasn't synced thru my itune on my computer.I can't get rid of it even thru itunes, because it isn't on my app list just shows on my third home screen. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get rid of it?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you try to touch the app icon on your screen until it starts to shake and shows the little cross? Hit the cross to delete it from your ipod and press the home button to stop the shaking of the icons again.
