ITunes won't hold Preferences Advanced Burning CD setting

I have kept ITunes updated. For the first time in a couple of months I tried to burn an audio CD from songs in my library. That always worked before but won't now. I have a Macbook Pro with the same latest Itunes version and found it doesn't have the problem. I figured something was corrupt in the PC installed version and so completely uninstalled and reinstalled 7.7.1.11 That didn't help. I can set the preference for audio CD but it always gets changed to MP3.
Can anyone comment or suggest a fix?

The headers on the problem tracks may be nonstandard or corrupted (this can happen with some MP3 conversion or import utilities). If you search the web for "mp3 repair" you'll find a number of repair tools. Here's one I've seen mentioned:
VBRfix.
I haven't tried any of the versions of this, so I can't attest to how well (or indeed if) they work.
Hope this helps.

    iTunes 7.7.1
Every time I try to access Preferences/Advanced/Burning, the program hangs. I logged into a new user area and updated iTunes to 7.7.1 and it does the same thing.

I am sorry to hear that you aren't finding a solution to your issue.
Here's what I did when I came up with the same problem. Yes, this is an ebook that I received from my school.
I downloaded the ebook and then tried to "Open" instead of "Save". When I saved the attachment and then opened, I could open the file without the error. I received the error when I tried to Open it from the school website.
I researched the term "Trusted Manager Preference". Go to "Edit", "Preferences", "Trusted Manager", "Change Settings". Ensure that the checkbox with "Let Me Specify a list of ...". The box with "My Web Sites" has a Always Block next to the site. Type that website into the allow box, Click Allow. This will add it to the My Web site box. Delete the site that is always blocked.
This worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you.

  • Disc drive fails and iTunes won't recognize CD after burning

    Hi all,
I'm having a strange issue with iTunes on my work computer, a Dell Optiplex GX280 with Windows XP installed, iTunes version 8.2.1.6.
About half of the time when I burn an audio CD, iTunes (or perhaps my computer) seems to have a problem with the final burn step. It goes through the whole process just fine, but after the countdown hits 0:00, I don't hear the 'your CD is finished' chime from iTunes, nor does the disc appear on the lefthand menu. The CD drive also doesn't respond at this point - the drive won't eject via iTunes or by me pressing the button (it will hard-eject with a paperclip-in-the-hole trick, but still doesn't respond after that). The only way I can get the disc to eject is by restarting the computer, at which point it will eject. After a restart, the AutoPlay will identify the burned CD as a blank disc, but if I try to re-burn it in iTunes, it gives me the error message "This is not a blank CD." (and of course the burn wasn't successful - it won't play in a stereo or in the computer). I'm wasting a lot of CD-Rs this way! :-/
I'm stumped. It seems to me that something in that final step of the burn process is causing the CD drive to fail, but I'm not sure what I can do fix the problem. Could it be the brand of disc I'm using, or something with the actual disc drive? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Okay, apologies for the duplicate thread - I tried searching and didn't see anyone with a similar issue, but now I see a thread down the page with the same issue of the disc not ejecting. I'll try WMP and see if that works any better...

Try resetting the Bridge preferences from outside the program.
Make sure it is not running (and double-check the Task Manager to ensure a hidden copy isn't running under Processes).
Then hold down Ctrl as you start Bridge and keep it down until you get a confirmation dialog. Accept all three options.

  • ITunes won't see my cd burner

I have iTunes 7.2 running on my Mac G4 with OSX 10.39. (I can't upgrade the OS because my version of ProTools software(6.41) is not supported on anything above 10.39) and my ProTools hardware "Mix plus" won't run on anything above 10.39.
I have Toast 6 and it works just great with my Pioneer DVR-110 DVD burner. I use them together daily.
But when I try to burn a CD with itunes it reports back that "no cd burner or burning software is found."
How can I get around this and get itunes to see my pioneer burner?

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

  • Old CD Burner Broke but iTunes won't recognize new external Burner

    HELP!
My internal CD Burner (E-drive) broke and I installed a new external burner (F-drive). However, when I go to burn a CD, iTunes wants to burn to the old, broken internal drive.
I checked Preferences, Burning but the ONLY drive listed is the old broken "E" drive - there is no list of drives to choose from (it is greyed out and I can't choose or point to the new "F" drive).
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Diane

hmmmm. okay, let's try something relatively simple first ... a "reboot and repair".
reboot the PC. (very important.) now do a repair install of iTunes. in Add/Remove programs, select iTunes, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, does the F show up in your Burning preferences?

  • ITunes won't recognize my CD burner, error message -43 on CD diagnostics

I hope there is someone who can help me. I am at my wits end with this! I cannot burn any cd's using iTunes--it does not recognize that I have burning capablities. I have tried repairing and reinstalling iTunes, because the very first error message I get when opening iTunes reads like this "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes". I have done this about 20 times already. Then when I try to run CD diagnostic, this is what I get:

I am really unhappy with this problem, considering that I can use Windows Media Player with no problem whatsoever. Now I have purchased all kinds of music off of iTunes and can't even burn a CD--what a waste of money. I hope someone has a suggestion for me. When I tried to email to the iTunes support they told me they didn't handle this type of problem, and I'd have to call their technical help line and pay whatever fee they charge for calls. Please help! Or else I guess my husband wasted $400 on a video iPod that's worthless.

  • Lion won't hold preferences after NetRestore

    Hi,
Quick qustion that hopefully someonwe here will be able to guide me to an answer with. I'm setup a master image in Lion on a MacBook Pro and sucessfully created the image and hosted it up on as a NetRestore. In this image I made a local account that I call "Local Adminisrator" with the short name "ladmin" and I use this account to install all my applications under and also set user settings like finder views, dock icons, turn off resume, turn off backwards scrolling and all those things. Typically in Snow Leopard after I have done this, these settings took affect under other users.
You may be thinking, why not just set user prefrerences under Workgroup Manager and the reason I havn't done this is my server runs Snow Leopard Server and its scheduled for upgrade for the mountain lion release. So far how I've hosted the NetResore images is in a Virtual Machine running on an iMac I have lying around.
So my question is: is there any I can create all user settings under lion in my one administrator account and then have these settings be applied for all the users? It seems like Lion just goes back to the defaults whenever a new user logs in from either active directroy or open directory,
    Thanks!
    -Mike Preble

    Hi Rkovelman,
Just wanted to start out by saying that I really appreatiate your help. As for the AD/OD part. I have my server bound to active directory user authenthication and then also OD for computer managment. I'm using whats known as the golden/magic triangle setup.
So onto what I am trying to do--I want to set preferences that will apply to all users. Such preferences include: when a user opens a new finder windows, it shows their home directory instead of "all my files." I also want to enable sorting by name and be able to set the dock a certain way and have that apply to all users that log in. In the past on snow leopard I would create a local administrator on the machine, set all these settings on that local administrator account and then those settings would then apply to all users that loged in.
Any idea how I could do this on Lion?
    Thanks!
    -Mike

Granted this is elementary, but I thought we could burn songs purchased from iTunes to a CD to play in an external player. Was this wrong? If not, what needs to be done to get them to play?

  • ITunes "Not Responding" when I try burning

    Hello there,
I have been having this problem for quite a while. My iTunes stops working if I try to do anything involving burning. I can burn with media player and such and have no problems.
If I go to Edit, preferences, advanced, burning.. to change my options, iTunes freezes up and I have to CtrlAltDel and shut it down. And it always says "Not Responding" I tried just forgetting about the options and putting in the blank CD, but as soon as I press 'Burn Cd' the same thing happens. I tried downloading new versions and all of that, but it still doesn't work. I have had other problems with iTunes in the past but this is the first involving burning. I've even unistall - reinstalled but it doesn't make any difference. It used to burn just fine, and then it started freezing up in the preferences menu, now just today it has started freezing up when i hit 'burn cd'. Any idea how I fix this?

  • 4s won't hold WiFi signal

Won't hold WiFi connection within house set up with Wifi, signal is strong on all computers, any suggestions?

If you have not already done this, make a backup of your device and restore it as new, without adding back the backup or any other content. Try your Wi-Fi. If it will not work then, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store and have the hardware checked.

iTunes freezes when trying to access "burning" tab in advanced preferences and also when attempting to hit burn cd button in lower left corner.

Thank you SO much!!! This is Exactly the problem I was having. I have spent untold hours in the last couple of days trying to resolve not only iTunes freezing up, but my network connectivity went bust as well. I like Blink so I'm undecided about whether to uninstall it yet, so I just disabled all of its firewall settings, and presto!... I can not only get my CD/DVD player to read and burn CD's, but iTunes and my computer remain functional. I got my computer to reconnect to the internet by doing a System Restore at a point prior to my trying to burn a CD. Thanks again so much. You saved my entire week!
