ITunes won't load when I click, not running in "task manager"

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. I run on Windows 7. iTunes was operating normally for me until recently... just a few days ago, I discovered that iTunes wouldn't load when I clicked on the icon on my desktop. I've tried clicking on it from the start menu and trying to open a music file via iTunes as well. The most that will happen is that the "checking iTunes library" box will pop up, load for a little while, and disappear. My cursor will also make it appear that the computer is loading it for a few seconds, and then give up. When checking to see if the program was even running, my task manager doesn't list iTunes. I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling iTunes to the current version (I may have been operating a version behind before), but 10.1 is behaving the same way. I am a music student that relies heavily on listening to iTunes for homework, so any advice ASAP would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

Quicktime is loading properly and plays videos just fine. Hmm... curiouser and curiouser!
That is odd ... with the most common causes of an error message free iTunes launch failure, iTunes.exe persists in task manager. The one I check for when iTunes.exe isn't persisting will usually prevent the QuickTime Player from launching.
Does the problem seem to be systemwide or user-specific, with those terms in the sense used in the following troubleshooting article?

Can you right mouse click iTunes icon and choose "Run as Administrator"?
If this fails:
Try SCAN your Windows system files for possible corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.

Mozilla is my default internet browser. Mozilla won't load when I click the icon nor will it load when I click on any web link within an e-mail. What do I do??

It won't load when I double click the icon on my desktop or when I try to open it from the space bar. When I do these things nothing happens. The only way I can get on the web is with Internet Explorer.

Delete the shortcut on your desktop and then go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox.
In there, right click '''firefox.exe''' and choose ''Send To'' | ''Desktop (create shortcut)'' to create a new one.
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

In the past couple of weeks my iTunes library will not open when I click on it. I have tried uninstalling and installing iTunes and updating it but nothing works. Even plugging in my iPod will not open up iTunes.

Please someone help!!! This problem is recent and apple has not caught up on it yet. I've resolved to seek answers on various forums but to no avail. I'm running a 64-bit version of windows 7 with 6GB RAM. I have tried uninstalling/re-installing/repairing itunes/quicktime and still nothing! A response will be greatly appreciated.

I have been running this system since quite a while and haven't had problems with iTunes for a while. I updated to the recent version not to long ago and it worked then once or twice, I even bought a game for the iPod (Tetris)...
Now iTunes doesn't start up anymore. I haven't installed anything new and I am virus free.
I try to launch iTunes and but the UI will not appear. I can see that it's loaded (or stuck somewhere) as the application is in the processes tab in the task manager and doesn't disappear.
Obviously I did the usual: curse a lot, removing everything incl. any traces of quicktime and itunes in the reg, 'application data' folders, the mysterious 'My Music' directory in my docs, reinstalling different versions of iTunes and quicktime, running hijack-this to see what processes I can't recognise, curse even more (**** MS monopoly) and reading a lot on the net and on this particular website.
There are holes in my firewall to accomodate iTunes. I use Sophos anti-virus software (not becasue I chose too).
Is there anything you could recommend?
Reinstalling windows is really not an option here, as I use this computer for work too.
I also use Linux on a seperate partition (Fedora 7), but I know that there were issues with iPod support on Linux and it once broke the whole **** database. Maybe Apple can one day release some software for Linux users? Afterall OS X is just a unix based OS anyways...
Please help, I wasted so much time on this already

Let's try to get an idea of what might be going on by running through b noir's "smack" for iTunes launch failures.
Based on your original post, I'm going to bypass some of the preliminary questions and make the following assumptions - if any of these assumptions are wrong, post back and we'll follow a different path.
Assumptions -
1) There is no error message associated with your iTunes launch failure.
2) QuickTime itself launches on your computer without any problems.
3) When you reboot your computer and attempt to launch iTunes, iTunes.exe appears and remains in the Processes list.
If those assumptions are all true, I'd refer you to this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

I use Firefox to access the internet-but when I go off the internet but don't shut down, then go back on Firefox it won't open because "it is already running". Task Manager doesn't show that it is operating so I can't shut it off. What to do?

It is in the question but to repeat.
1. When I go online I use Mozilla Firefox
2. While I am doing other work, I usually close the internet.
3. If I go back on the internet and click on Mozilla it won't come up, stating that "it is already running".
4. Despite that, when I open Task Manager, it doesn't show that it is running so I can't shut it down or open it.
5. If I log off or shut off the computer, then after I log in or reboot the computer, I can open Mozilla.

ITunes slow to load when internet is not connected

If your internet connection is off and iTunes 6 is taking ages to load then go to iTunes Preferences / General and uncheck "Automatically check for iTunes Updates".

You can try a reset of your phone (no data will be lost). Hold down the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo appear - then release both buttons. Allow the phone to restart and then see if it has solved the problem.

Firefox icon in the Taskbar will not start on the first click, sometimes needing to click 2 or 3 times for it to open (and this is after a fresh reboot with Firefox not running in Task Manager.

Itunes takes forever to open, or is not responding in task manager, windows 7

My computer was just fine 2 days ago No windows updates were applied. I down loaded a 10 day demo of SureThing disc labeler to label with lightscribe cds.
I was able to import the itunes info and burn discs and labels.
Yesterday no itunes came up, now I have a big problem and cannot burn cd's or label discs.
Windows7 HP Pavillion Elite HPE computer.

Firefox will not start. its not running in task manager and i dont have norton or skype. it ran yesterday when i updated to it now today it wont start

i had an older 3.somthing version of firefox it worked perfect. i updated to yesterday i loved it but today it just wil not open no errors nothing click on it and theres an hour glass then nothing. i went through you trouble shooting list as i said before but nothing matches this.

hello justin, thanks for reporting with your crash report ID. ironically this issue might be caused by a recent windows update (KB2670838). until there's a fix for it or an updated graphics driver that can solve the issue, please disable hardware acceleration in firefox.
while in safemode go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & switch off hardware acceleration.

are you getting an error message when you try to launch itunes? if so, what does it say?
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever? if so, let us know the results of the following observations. (this will give us an idea of which of the three main causes of error-less launch failure we should check up on first.)
reboot the PC. open Task Manager to the Processes Tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an itunes.exe process appear in Task Manager? if so, does it persist in there or disappear after a few seconds?

If you only changed the name of your ID rather than creating a new ID, just go to Settins>iCloud and tap Delete Account then sign back in with the new name. (Deleting the account from your phone does not delete it from iCloud. Your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)
If you created a new ID, you'll have to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone. (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.) After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to your new account.
You won't lose any photos in your camera roll or photo library. If you have any photos in your photo stream that are over 30 days old that are not in your camera roll or saved on your computer, be sure to save these to the camera roll before deleting the account. I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

Are the songs authorised to the same account?
Often people change their e-mail address over time, and also decide to set up new iTunes account names using that e-mail. You can (and should) continue to use an old e-mail address as your account name. Then you don't run into the issue of having different songs authorised to different accounts.
To check the authorised account for the song, click "Get info" on the song name in iTunes. It will show the account name in the Summary panel.
If you have set up multiple accounts, log into each one, and burn the songs to CD as audio tracks (i.e. like a normal CD, not a data CD). You can then re-import the files into iTunes without the authorisation embedded into the song.
