Itunes won't open usinf windows 7

I am having a problem with my itunes on my computer. I am running windows 7 and whem i click on the icon nothing happens. I have even deleted the program and reinstalled and still nothing.

Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

iTunes won't open on Windows 7.
Error message says MSVCR80.dll is missing.
Re-installing iTunes over the top didn't work, it couldn't get passsed a mobile devices error. Any thoughts anyone?

    Howdy rtih,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after a recent update. I suggest the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • ITunes won't open in Windows 8.

I'm using a Dell XPXS, about 3 months old.    Itunes worked fine up until yesterday.  Then it would not open, in either common or administrative modes.
I tried uninstalling per advice elsewhere on this site (iTunes, QuickTime, etc., in order) and reinstalling.   iTunes64setup.exe downloads and installs, but does not run/open.
Apple and iTunes are allowed by Norton, and the latest antivirus software has been run - no anomalies showed.
I've noticed that Quicktime does not appear to be included in the iTunes download, so I've downloaded that separately.
Windows 8 is set on auto update.
    Any ideas?

Keeferaf that is untrue, iTunes works perfectly in windows 8.
However, I had this same issue and was unable to resolve it with any tech support until I finally dug into the matter myself.
I found my itunes would not open, but i could open NEW itunes libraries, just not my old one. It had run on windows 8 for two months no problem, then all of a sudden, no itunes.
I went to my itunes library which is on a seperate HDD but still an internal one, and found a bunch of itunes.tmp temporary files. I deleted them, and my library opened up.
So look for .tmp files where your itunes library is stored. it was in the same level as the media folders, first level of the hard drive.

  • My iTunes won't open in Windows 7!

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes several times with no luck.  At this point I am getting a User Permission request from Apple but it goes no further than that.  I've had messages about the compatibility mode and have checked and un-checked that. It will open at random occasions but more often than not it won't do anything.  The desktop icon has a yellow and blue shield on it.  Any suggestions?

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • ITunes Won't open on windows 7

Last week, my iTunes randomly decided not to open when I clicked on it. When I called a technician to look at my computer, I discovered it had been hacked. After several days of fixing that big issue, he then helped me with my itunes. Before I found out I was hadked, I had uninstalled and re-installed iTunes several times, doing nothing to help the situation. After re-installing it, the UAC shield symbol appeared on the itunes icon and stayed there even when the program was reinstalled. The technician got iTunes to work (but the UAC symbol was still on th icon and everytime I clicked on it it would ask if the program could make changes to my computer). This worked for about 3 days until today. The problems with iTunes has also changed. For a while it would just "not respond" and needed to be shut down. NOW, it just never turns on. It never even shows up in the task manager. The UAC symbol has also gone off the icokn, which I feel is a good thing but I'm not sure. BTW, QuickTime is working. The weirdest part is that iTunes turns on the first time I click on it when I turn on my computer but after I quit it won't turn on again. I have not found a case like this on the internet so hopefully someone here can help me. Thank you!

Itunes worked after reseting my computer to factory setting however had trouble again after syncing my iPod and iPod shuffle. Is this a coincidence or could it be the cause of the problem?

  • My itunes won't open in windows 2000

I just got my first ipod its a 2nd generation nano, I went to support to learn what all i neded to do to get music on it. Apple support told me to dl the latest version of itunes so i did that. After I installed it, I went to the icon and clicked it and it would not open. I tried opening it all other ways you can on a comp and all i get is a little hour glass that stays on for 3 seconds and then goes away nothing loads.
I have never had itunes on this comp ever soit couldn't be a matter of having other traces of itunes conflicting with the new version.
I did a complete uninstall and then went through all the steps to make sure there was nothing left of itunes on my comp then i put itunes 6 on my comp and it worked fine but when i plugged my nano into my comp it told me i needed itunes version7 or higher .
I am truly at a frustrated loss and any help would be greatly appreciated , I have a brand new ipod tha ti cannot use and i have been dying to have some music to listen to while at the gym.

First off does your computer met these requirements?
    Windows Requirements
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later or Windows XP
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
    QuickTime 7.1.5 (included)
    256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music
    Additional Video Requirements
2.0 GHz Pentium class processor or better
    512MB RAM
    32MB video RAM
If iTunes 6 is working fine for you and if your computer meets these requirments try downloading itunes 7 again and see if the problem repeats, if you get any error message during the install post it here that will give many here an idea of what is going on.

  • ITunes won't open from windows - error message

Every time I try to open iTunes or Quicktime from my desktop or anywhere else, this message something like this comes up: "Windows has encountered a problem and must close iTunes. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please click here to send an error report." Because of another problem on my computer, which has already been fixed, I have had to reinstall all my progams recently, including iTunes, but after installing and reinstalling a number of times yesterday, it cannot open. Other programs, like skype, are all working fine. Can someone help me figure out why my system can't open iTunes?

  • My iTunes won't open on Windows XP. iTunes.exe - Entry point not found, Error 7 (Windows Error 127)

When I open iTunes, I get a message saying under iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found, it says, The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll. And I'm not talking about the AppleSyncNotifier.exe. Along with that, I get the message saying, "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall i Tunes." Error 7 (Windows Error 127). That's why I'm unable to open iTunes. I sure hope to see a solution to those problems soon.

I can't get itunes to open on my hp computer using Windows 7 (64-bit) I have downloaded it and tried and it gives me the agreement screen and after I AGREE...nothing happens. I've uninstalled itunes and reinstalled. I attached the ipod thinking that would force it to open...NOT! I tried to open the program in safemode and it did the same thing. This is a pain in the butt. I have a laptop that runs windows 7 64-bit and I have not trouble with the program running on it. This is a BRAND NEW HP DESKTOP and I can't get this program to open...its really frustrating me...

  • My iTunes won't open on windows 7.

    Hi,
I have been using iTunes for years now and just recently I was organizing my computer's files and deleted some things. I am not sure what I deleted, I thought everything deleted was useless. But now I can't open iTunes. Whenever I try too I get "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)." I have tried everything, I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes/Quicktime at least 5 times, I've tried going to apple support on apple.com and trying all of there suggestions, and I even did a system restore when this first occurred. I cannot open iTunes at all. I am all out of ideas. If some could please help I would be extremely happy.
    Thank you,
    Clay

It says iTuness 1 on the menu bar so it basically created a new blank library, so I was a little hesitant to copy the old library xmls over incase it stopped iTunes working again. Probably easiest to recreate the library, delete the old folder then rename the iTunes 1.
Sorry for asking about the iPhone in the same thread, a bit naughty I know so I can create a new one if you'd prefer.
Basically, the phone was on charge all day via USB on my laptop, locked the screen and then when I got back from work it was powered off and couldn't switch it on. So, I performed a reset and the phone now only boots to the white apple and no further. I can only get it to do this whilst plugged into the mains charger, not on battery OR via USB to my laptop. I have tried leaving on charge overnight, 3 different laptops and finally an XP PC, all don't seem to power the phone on, only when I plug into the wall.
I've tried a recovery, but the problem is I can only get the phone into recovery mode whilst plugged into the wall i.e. I get the 'connect to itunes' graphic up but as soon as I unplug the USB and connect to the PC, the screen goes blank or at least dims anyway as I can still see the graphic, just 'greyed out'. I then have to reset the phone again (connected to power).
So, tried DFU mode, iTunes detects it (hooray I thought), downloads the 3.1.3 firmware, jumps to 'preparing iphone for recovery' and then sits there as the phone then becomes disconnected from the PC i.e. USB 'disconnect' sound is heard. I then get a '1601' error (I have the iphone updater log if you want it) and am back to square one.
Like I've said, I've tried 3 different laptops and a PC, from Windows 7 to XP, 3 different cables and 2 different chargers and it does the same thing on all of them. I have thought of trying to find a USB dock with a seperate power supply but now sure if they exist of if this will help.
Determined to fix this as I think the phone is great, if only Apple can sort out the battery life issues!.
    Hope you can help.

  • Suddenly itunes won't open on windows 2000

Within the last wk updated to new version of itunes after much frustration. Ran fine for a wk now all of the sudden it will not load???? No error message, just won't start. Please help, thank you.

    I don't get a "flash" w/ itunes but do w/ quicktime???
hmmmm. okay, this is more difficult to do in 2000 ... if you were running XP, i'd suggest trying this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    ... but i don't believe you've got MSCONFIG on 2000.
what we're doing is trying to track down weird start-up items on your PC with four- and six-letter-names that don't return any hits if you do a google on them. (there might be a new malware thing out there.) see if these techniques are helpful:
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-u s/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/pror k/prefttseznd.asp
(they are more closely associated with windows problems than a program conflict, but something in there might be useful in this context.)

  • ITunes won't open in Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

New computer, installed itunes, and I think it might have opened once, but now it doesn't open at all, although it shows up in the task manager (as 32-bit, btw).
    * Tried uninstalling/reinstalling
    * Tried installing in compatibility mode and as administrator
    * Tried copying/moving QTMovieWin file as described in other posts.
    None of these worked.
    Can anybody help?

After about 10 minutes, I got this pop-up:
    iTunes.exe- Device Timeout
"The specified I/O operation on F: was not completed before the time-out period expired."
At that point I realized I had an SD card in my computer's reader slot that I had popped in there this morning. When I pulled it, iTunes launched. Weird.
Anyway, looks like my problem's solved.
