ITunes won't start after reinstalls and iPhone problems

last time I think I clicked Never Register on iTunes after plugging my iphone, downloaded some podcasts to my phone, everything seems alright before that, but then my iphone won't sync properly with itunes...
iTunes keeps saying Syncing Iphone (sometimes it stops, but it doesnt say Sync is complete,on the left side it's still syncing) but after a while my iPhone goes back to its normal state (Slide to unlock, not to cancel) after I cancelled a sync (it took more than 2 hours, that's why I cancelled it,after the cancellation it became even more messed up)...
Deleted the podcasts and deauthorized iTunes store, still doesnt work.
What's the solution to sync my iphone normally again??
I did reboot on both my iphone and PC and they don't work,
I'm using Vista 32bit and Iphone 3G 2.2.1
I tried updating iTunes to 8,1,now everytime I connect my phone via usb,iTunes will crash....removed iTunes and installed previous versions including 8.01 and 8.02...still not working
after I installed 8.0,iTunes won't even open...
removed itunes and installed other versions including 8.1 again, they won't even open even after I completely removed iTunes & quicktime and used windows install cleanup...,reboot many times, deleted Temp folder....still doesnt work...
but the Itunes and iTunes helper processes are there on the task manager,I cant even kill them
sorry,I don't know where to post this...
please help,guys..
thanks

I have update iTunes to the latest version yesterday.
Up to her everything is fine. Due to ther issues I
had to go back to the Windows RESTORE point previous
to the iTune installation.
When I start iTunes I get the following pop-up:
"iTunes cannot runbecause some of its required files
are missing. Please reinstall iTunes".
I do that and when iTunes try to connect to the store
it shows broken links and the whole thing hangs.
I have tried to unistall iTunes, but it does not help
at all. This means that I do not have connection to
iPod. I cannot believe that I have to re-install all
my PC bcause of this.
I have discovered that QuickTime is corrupted. I cannot unistall it and if I try to re-install it nothing happens.
Is there a manual way of removing it from the system?
Which keys/modules do I need to remove?

  • ITunes won't start up when connecting iPhone

My wife has been having this trouble for awhile, and now I started having the same trouble too. She has an iMac G5 running latest versions of Leopard and iTunes. I have a Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet model) running the latest version of Tiger and iTunes I also have a USB 2.0 PCI card which has already been tested and is operating properly. Both of our iPhones are the original model running iPhone 2.0, but this problem was happening on her setup before the 2.0/MobileMe fiasco.
Basically, iTunes won't start on her machine when she sets her iPhone into the iPhone Dock, even though it does show that it is charging. When she clicks iTunes, it syncs new data from her iMac to her iphone, but new data on her iPhone doesn't transfer to her iMac (remember, this is BEFORE the MobileMe/2.0 update). I've tried different sync cables, plugging it in to different USB ports, and always it's the same- it may work properly when I unplug the cable and plug it back in again, but after I remove the iPhone from its dock and set it back in, it malfunctions the same as I just described. It initiates a sync if iTunes is running, but not if iTunes is shut down. The crazy thing is, her syncing was working perfectly both ways until about two months before the MobileMe/2.0 switch, so I know it has nothing to do with that.
Today, my Power Mac and iPhone started displaying the same symptoms, but with a twist- I put my iPhone into its cradle, and nothing- no charging screen and tone, no syncing startup, nothing. I turn iTunes off, pull the iPhone out of the cradle, and set it back in again- nothing. iTunes won't even start up; and when I start it up myself, it still doesn't recognize the iPhone is there. I plug the iPhone into a wall charger using the same cable I sync with, and it starts charging with no problems. I plug my iPhone cradle back into my external USB hub, connected to one of the USB 1.1 ports, and the syncing/charging works flawlessly. The weird thing is, my 4th Generation iPod Photo is on a different dock with a different cable, plugged into the same USB 2.0 card, and iTunes starts and syncs with no problems with that iPod every time.
I've taken my wife's iMac, her iPhone, and her iPhone dock and cable in to the Apple Store's Genius Bar, but they weren't able to figure out the problem. They tried to redirect the syncing issues by trying to demonstrate iPhone 2.0's wireless push/pull capabilities, but they couldn't get that to work properly, even though all the settings on the imac and the iPhone were correct. All they could suggest was that I must have had a "bad upgrade" when I upgraded to Leopard (6 months ago?!?), and that I should try an "Archive and Install" of Leopard again to see if that sorts out the issue- something I do not really have the time to do (and my wife can't really be without her Mac for that long since she uses it for work).
I see a lot of similar issues on Apple's iPhone support pages with iTunes not recognizing iPhones when they're plugged in, or not charging when plugged in, etc. I've spent a lot of money on our Macs and our iPhones based on the idea (from Apple's own marketing) that Apple's products "just work". And darn it, with all the money I've invested into these products I just want them to WORK- EVERY TIME, without fail! These are the kind of problems I left behind in the Windows world, and I don't want their ugly heads to surface here too.

    Hi yesy
If you are sure you disabled your AV/antispy and you get the flash of a licence it sounds like you may have a malware infection. Look out for posts by b noir and get hold of ewido - its a free AV programme - google and you should find.
BTW, you may be in Florida and I'm in the UK, but don't shout - you're just next door in cyberspace!:) I understand your frustration coz I've been in your place. There are some really helpful folks on this forum - seek, and you shall find!

  • ITunes won't start after upgrading to v9 on WinXP

I dutifully upgraded to iTunes 9, and now it won't start. It attempts to start, and I get a few moments of the hourglass icon. And the Task Manager shows the iTunes process is running. But the UI never appears. I tried deleting via the control panel and reinstalling but same problem. Never had a problem before - this is aggravating since I don't have access to my library and there doesn't seem to be a way to downgrade back to v8. I turned off (actually deinstalled) Norton but that didn't help. Tried disabling a bunch of start up processes at boot time and that didn't help either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar issue. After doing the upgrade, tried to open iTunes & got an error message saying that I needed the latest Quicktime version and telling me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Doing so resulted in the same error message.
Per a suggestion in another thread here, I repaired Quicktime (control panel- add/remove programs- Quicktime- repair). This disappeared iTunes but once I reinstalled it the problem went away.

  • Itunes won´t start after upgrading to the latest version....

Hello everyone. After updating to the latest version of itunes it won´t start.I get the message itunes will be shut down due to the data execution prevention. After i followed the troubleshooting guide from windows to shut down the dep for itunes i get the message: This program cannot run without dep. pls help

Quicktime doesn´t work properly. The program will be shut down. You´ll be noticed when a solution is available
    Many thanks.
That and the iTunes DEP error suggest that some application (other than QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit version of Windows,* open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit version of Windows,* open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • ITunes won't start after upgrade--error message

When I launched iTunes after upgrading to 6.0.1, I got the following message after agreeing to the usual legal terms:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder."
    Any suggestions?

    Jeff,
Thank you for the reply and your suggestions.
Yes, I did take a look in the Music folder--and no, the file was not there. I then used Spotlight and did find an iTunes Music folder, but when I tried to copy it to the Music folder I got error message -36, saying that parts of the file weren't readable and, therefore, not copyable.
I also used my disk utility to repair permissions and re started the computer---with the same results.
I'm not sure what else to try and may take my computer to my local expert.
    best,
    als

  • Itunes won't start after upgrading

I just upgraded to itunes for windows 6.0.5 and now it won't start. The windows error report box comes up. Please help!

don't be silly, zenbeer. let's wait until the original poster tells us explicitly what message s/he's getting. there are at least two different error messages that miracon could be getting that fit the information that we've received so far.
why on earth did you reinstall Windows in response to that error message?
Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • ITunes won't start after update

    Hi,
I just upgraded my ITunes using the normal Apple update process when I was prompted - and now I-Tunes won't start at all.
I can see the ITunes.exe start in Windows Task Manager....then it just shuts down again.
    Any ideas ?

    I tried another solution :
    1. Un-install I-Tunes
    2. In-install Bonjour
    3. Reboot
    4. Install latest I-Tunes
This seems to have fixed the problem.
So it looks like BONJOUR IS THE PROBLEM.

  • HALP!!!  iTunes won't start after 9.1 update

    Hi
I was prompted to install the iTunes/Quicktime update on March 30th and - without thinking did so. The update seemed to go well with no errors. On April2nd, I went to start iTunes and it refused with Windows indicating files were missing.
After hesitating, I backed up all of my music and iTunes config files and then - using the Installer package from Mar 30th - de-installed itunes and then tried to re-install. I am now unable to re-install and the Apple installer tells me
" There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this installer, could not run. Please re-install".
    Some things I have noted:
    1. The iTunes / Quick time de-install does not get rid of all Apple components in the Windows Program listing (Control panel)
    2. The iTunes de-install does not seem to get rid of the iTunes folder under "MyMusic".
I am now without ANY iTunes although my music and preferences are safe.... Still, this is a drag!
    HALP

    2. The iTunes de-install does not seem to get rid of the iTunes folder under "MyMusic".
Don't touch that one! It's got your library and content files in it.
    1. The iTunes / Quick time de-install does not get rid of all Apple components in the Windows Program listing (Control panel)
Have you tried working through the following document prior to reinstalling?

  • ITunes won't start after Windows 7 Repair install

    Hi there
I recently had to repair my Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition installation. It warned me before reinstalling that there could be some problems with iTunes following the repair but I followed the instructions to counter this and repair Windows 7. i.e. I uninstalled all iTunes software as outlined on Apples pages.
On opening Windows 7 again I ended up with a Blue Screen of Death - this pointed me to a faulty iTunes installation - I checked control panel and sure enough it was not listed as uninstalled. I therefore followed online instructions to completely remove iTunes and used Revo Uninstaller Pro to catch anything I missed. All looked good, I rebooted my machine and then went to install iTunes again. I chose the 64bit installer from the site and installed as normal. I have now tried to open iTunes (to sync my iPhone) and it thinks about it for a second and then never opens. On opening task manager I can see iTunes.exe*32 (does this mean 32 bit and if so why when I've DEFINITELY got the 64 bit installation), iTunesHelper.exe*32 and AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe*32 all in Processes - they are not in open programs.
Even stopping these processes does not help. iTunes was working fine before my Windows 7 problems on this machine and all other software seems ok too following my repair. Can someone please assist me in getting iTunes to work again with my computer as this is very frustrating. This is not the first time it has happened to me - on my old Vista machine (different machine totally) this happened once or twice intermittently but then seemed to resolve itself. I have defrag, disk doctor and run just about every utility I have installed to get my system working ok and the only problem seems to be iTunes. I'd therefore appreciate help in resolving this.
    Many thanks

Did you try and update through itunes or download the installer from the apple website?
I've read some where its better to just download the stand alone installer from apple and
    do it that way.

  • ITunes won't start after upgrade

    Since I upgraded iTunes everytime I try to start it up I get the following error;
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration."
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Dave

QuickTime doesn't appear in Control Panel Add/Remove Programs so I can't remove it. I can see QuickTimePlayer.exe in C:\Program Files\QuickTime, but when opened I get the error
    "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
Okay, let's try swapping your QuickTime out by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • G4 won't start after sleep and power disonnect

    Hi,
I recently put my MDD G4 to sleep, then inadvertantly cut the power to the machine. Now it won't start up. I push the start button, it lights up as long as I'm holding it (firmly), but nothing happens. No fan, no screen, nothing. I've tried unplugging. There are no devices connected other than display and keyboard.
    I'd be grateful for suggestions!
    Thanks,

You could also have a bad PRAM battery. I would check it. When mine went, I had no response from my Mac at all; just a light on my power button; absolutely no boot at all.
Check out things in Texas Mac Mans tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies. The PMU reset is discussed in there too.
    Cheers!

  • Itunes won't start after reinstall

When Itunes Match wouldn't stop crashing and forcing itunes to quit every 5 minutes, I decided the only solution was to re-install itunes.  But first I had to get rid of it.  So I deleted itunes from the application folder and then tried to empty the trash.  I kept getting a message that I couldn't empty the trash because itunes helper was running.  So I went to Systems, Accounts, Login, and deleted itunes out of that list.  But I still could not empty the trash.
So I went ahead and downloaded a new itunes and installed it.  When the installation completed, I was able to empty the trash.  However, now when I click on the itunes icon on my dock, it forms a question mark and will not open up.  My only options with a right click are to remove it from the dock.
Now what do I do?  That stupid iTunes Match has really messed me up for weeks now.  I am desperate to get rid of it.  Beware!  All sales are final and it is one bad app.

However, now when I click on the itunes icon on my dock, it forms a question mark and will not open up
    Hello Marilyn,
Probably the iTunes icon in the Dock still is linked to the old iTunes.app that you just trashed for good. Remove the icon from the Dock and drag the new iTunes from your Applications Folder to the Dock. Right click the icon in the Dock and select "Options -> Keep in Dock", then you should be able to launch your iTunes from the Dock as usual.
