ITunes wont recognize my iPhone 4 after update

I updated my iPhone to the latest version (7 point something) but my iTunes no longer recognizes the phone when I connect it via USB. The iPhone permanently shows the connect to iTunes logo but does nothing when I do connect it. I'm using a Windows PC as the platform. When I open Devices in Control Panel, there's a small yellow exclamation mark icon next to the Driver, it says in recovery mode...
I cant reboot the phone because the Home button is bust.
At this point I'd be happy if I could simply get the phone to work properly again - even if that means I have to use the old iOS.
I've tested the USB cable and its working 100%
I've updated iTunes but that didn't work
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but that didn't work
I've followed several apple support steps which didn't work
Please help, I'm seriously frustrated, desperate and reaching breaking point.

ITunes does recognize your phone it's in recovery mode.
You will have to do these steps a few times   If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • Itunes wont recognize my iPhone

Hi, I recently upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and tried to sync my iPhone so I could update it as well. However, it won't even show up in iTunes, and I spent the last several hours trying to revert back to a previous iTunes version to see if that would help and it hasn't (I had to reinstall the latest version). My iPhone has 3.0.1 firmware at the moment. Is there anything I can do (without going through the iTunes nightmare again) or should I wait until a newer update for iTunes is released to fix this?

Well, I talked to Apple Support, they told me to uninstall the components of iTunes (in a completely different order than the article for uninstalling iTunes on Windows Vista, mind you) and it resulted in iTunes acknowledging my iPhone, only to tell me that it couldn't interact because of missing software.
The "AppleSync is not working!" and another strange error message popped up. The Apple Mobile Device Support component wasn't installed and the Apple assistant couldn't explain why, other than to say "Something went wrong with that install"...
Simply put, the error messages kept coming up even after restarting my PC, and I had to do a System Restore, which had Apple Mobile Device Support intact, and then reinstall iTunes to get it "working" again. Still won't even recognize my iPhone, but somehow I prefer that to the mess that Apple Support left me with.

  • Itunes wont recognize my iphone 4s to sync

i open itunes on my windows 8 computer, plug my phone in with the usb cable and the icon doesn't appear at the upper right corner to sync my iphone anymore. ive tried going to my control panel and checking portable devices, everything's up to date ive tried "view" and hiding/ showing the tool bar.. ive tried dragging and dropping the 3 songs i want to transfer from itunes to my iphone, (moving to the itunes folder) ive tried deleting some data on my phone (pictures apps ect) ive tried using the cloud. ive tried typing in the songs i want on itunes, right clicking and trying to add to my playlist on my phone... and im really at a loss. i cant seem to get itunes to recognize my phone and have the sync icon show up. is there a way you know of to make that appear? i honestly only want to add 3 songs to my phone. what should i try next? thanks!

Try another cable. They are known to fail after a while with wear and tear.

  • Itunes wont recognize my iphone 5s!!! Please help

Hi Everyone.. can someone please help me? Ive been searching this forum for 2 days now and cannot find a fix to the issue I am having.
My wife and I had iphone 4s' untill we recently upgraded to the 5s... we got both phones on the same day and simply installed from backup and everything appeared to run smoothly in both cases... Until i recently noticed that some of the music was missing from a playlist I made a while ago.
Naturally I thought to sync the phone.. This is not possible over wifi (device options are greyed out) and it wont even work using a cable as the device driver times out.  Now please note I have forced an update to the driver multiple times now following advice on this site, and I have made sure that my windows updates and itunes software are fully upto date, yet I still cannot get itunes to see my phone... or my wifes phone!
Iphone software is upto date and i have tried different cables just to be sure, and still nothing!  Help me apple support community.. your my only hope!
    Thanks

  • ITunes keep saying restoring iPhone after updating to iOS 5

I have just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. After updating, my iTunes keep saying restoring iPhone apps. Now I can use my iPhone but without my previous apps. I have also tried closing iTunes and open it again but it still says restoring iPhone apps as soon as it detact my iPhone. Does anyone knows how to solve this problem? By the way, I am using Windows.

I had the same issue with my iPad. The iPad itself thought it was fully updated (had taken me to the iCloud set up etc) but iTunes insisted it was still restoring apps. I closed down iTunes each time via the task manager.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, which didn't help.
What I did in the end was disconnect the iPad while iTunes was still running - without any attempt to eject it. When I then plugged it back in, it came up with an error message along the lines of "An attempt to restore this iPad was interrupted. Do you wish to continue attempting to restore?" I hit cancel, and I was then able to do a manual sync as normal, and all my app data was restored.

  • My Itunes wont find my iphone after I updated to 10.7

I updated to 10.7 and since then i haven't been abke to find my iphone. I go through my computer and I'm easily able to find it through my computer and device manager but not in itunes. I ran the diagnostics and it came back to tell me there was nothing there -.-'
I then restarted my computer and my phone and plugged it back in through multiple usb ports but still no luck. When i go to itunes to check for updates it returns a message saying its up to date. When i close out of that window by chance another window pops up saying that an iphone has been identified but cannot be recognized properly, please disconnect and reconnect the iphone and try again. But when i do that nothing happens. I am trying my best not to unistall the software and reinstall it... Anyone else run into this issue? and if so any tips? I also looked through my services and all the necessary services are running properly. Thanks for your time guys!

I hate to say it, but Apple is literally infamous for teething problems on new releases. It's usually fixed in two days, though that fix usually gets fixed, too, so sometimes a week, but does means downloading new updates.
My (experienced) advice? Wait a couple of days, check for updates, try again. Pray (or whatever works for you) that you don't have the "lost Apple Device Driver" problem several people are having.
I keep an older version of iTunes installer on a backup drive (or just in my downloads folder), just for such events. Worst-case, I've always been able to uninstall iTunes (including driver and user info), then install my old version of iTunes and roll on. Yes, my iTunes folder is on an external hard drive, so I can move it around to my different computers, and then keep a backup of that hard drive on a second external hard drive. Saves me a ton of headaches.

  • Itunes wont reconise my iphone!!!

I just installed Leopard a couple of days ago, and also upgraded itunes to 7.7.1 and ever since itunes wont recognize my iphone or ipods. When i plug my phone in it charges and iphoto pops up, but thats it itunes refuses to show any device. Has this happened to anyone else? would downgrading itunes work?

I was having the same problem, however, i just re-installed itunes and everything appears to be working. All I did was drag the itunes.app to the trash and re-install.

    Hello mzshay2u2,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're unable to locate your iPhone within iTunes 12 on your Mac.  First, I'd like you to take a look at the screenshot below, as iTunes 12 changed the navigation of your Library.
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB
If you do not see your iPhone's icon there, then continue on to the link below.
