ITunes8/os10.4.11: Some songs now not Authorized to play?

I downloaded iTunes 8 yesterday. I'm on 10.4.11. I have four computers out of five authorized. Even with that, iTunes will now not allow some of my Purchased Songs to play on my main G5 tower.
How do I alleviate this issue? I enter the password, etc, but it refuses to allow me to play them.
Thank you.

  • ITunes keeps saying a song is not authorized to play??

I just bought an album on iTunes (same account I always use, the only one computer I have), and for some reason only ONE of the songs is telling me "This song is not authorized to play on your computer." I tried typing in my info to see if that would work, but it didn't, it said this computer is already authorized (which I already knew, because every other song on my iTunes plays, including all the other songs on this particular album). I followed all the tips on the support website for this particular issue and nothing worked. I also went into my account, deauthorized all the computers (my old computers that I don't have anymore were still on there), then reauthorized this one, and still no luck. How do I get this song to play?! So frustrating!

Nevermind, I decided to delete the file and went to re-buy it. The store prompted me to download it for free since I had already purchased it, so I re-downloaded, and the new file is playing. Whew!

  • Songs suddenly not authorized to play on computer...

    7.02.16 v
Since upgrading I am not authorized to play 64 songs I had previously purchased. These songs will not transfer to my ipod and they had previously been on my ipod. Any suiggestions?

Hi I am having the same problem. Did anyone answer you? I am vry interested in a solution. My laptop display cracked and I had to have my drive transferred to another machine. Now whenever I try to play a song it asks me to authorize. I do the step and it still won't play.

  • HT1349 I have shared my itunes music between 2 computers, however some of the songs say "not authorized to play on this computer", however I have repeatedly gone through the steps to authorize, and indeed it comes back that I have authorized this computer

How do i get the few songs in my library to be "authorized to play" when all the other ones are.  I have tried doing them individually, NOT WORKING This is on my home laptop.  All of the songs play on one computer but some not on the other.

Find the songs that don't work -- one at a time.  Right-click on the song in iTunes and do a "Get Info"  On the summary tab, look at the account name field.  That's critical -- is that account authorized on your computer?
    That's the issue.

  • Burned CD's now "Not authorized to play.."

I have upgraded to Itunes 7.3 for Winders. When I Sync my Ipod 63 songs will not make it over. Many of these are songs from CD's I have burned to iTunes! The error displayed when I attempt to play one of these 63 songs is
You have already authorized 5 computers with this account..."
I show 2 authorized computers on my account. Following suggestions found on this site, I deauthorized the problematic system and then reauthorized. This did not work. It is only any of the 63 songs that I get this error. It is as if the songs is labled as being authorized on 5 computers already. How can I get the song to see that it is authorized?

try clicking store and then clicking autorize computer type your password in if that doesnt work then i have no idea

  • Songs not authorized to play on iTunes??

Not sure if anyone has encountered this but while going through some songs I haven't listened to in a while I'll get a prompt saying, "This song is not authorized to play on iTunes", it'll ask for my password & then it'll say, "You've given access to play this song on 2 computers now"?????
Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Older content purchased from the iTunes Store contains DRM, which limits the circumstances in which it can be played. If you've previously authorized that computer, click here and follow the instructions.

  • Songs are not authorized

when try to synch, i get a message that some songs are not authorized. yet when i authorize my computer it says it is alredy one of my authorized computers

This may not apply to you, but make sure you're using the iTunes Store account under which the tracks were purchased. Often people forget that some tracks were purchased from a different account. Select a track that won't sync, Get Info (under the File menu), and it will show you the account name through which it was purchased. Make sure you've authorized your computer using that account ID and password.
If it is, and these are new tracks that you haven't played in iTunes, try playing them in iTunes for at least a few seconds and then try synching. Sometimes the authorization doesn't "take" until the track have been played once.
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgraded to win7 from xp. Now some songs will not play without signing into an old Itunes id account.

Installed Windows 7 from XP. Downloaded itunes and imported the music library.
Now some songs will not play until I authorize this computer by signing  in using an old apple id. Now when I do that the message says too many devices on that id.
Is there a way to convert those songs to my current Apple id? Or is there a way to download them again under the new id?

Content is permanently tied to the Apple ID that it was acquired with.
If you desire the conent on your current Apple ID, purchase it with the current Apple ID.
For future reference, do not create a new Apple ID simply because of a change of email address.  Instead, update the Apple ID with the new email address.

  • I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer. Any ideas?

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?

    Hello there DesertRat71,
I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • IPod not updating cuz I'm not authorized to play some songs on my computer

I updated to the newest Itunes version, but my ipod won't update with the songs that I purchased from Itunes. It did update the songs that I burned from a CD.
The error message is: Some of the songs in the ITunes music library were not copied to your IPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer.
I went to advanced --> Deauthorize computer, and tried to click off of the top setting, which is "Deauthorize Computer for Music Store Account" but could not click off of that.
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Some songs are not longer available and an ! exclamation mark appears before the song in iTunes. What should I do?

When you open iTunes it opens a database file that contains the locations of the media files you use to play the music.  If something has happened to invalidate where iTunes thinks that file is stored you get a !   There are many possible reasons.  Sometimes a computer can start to lose files.  In other situations it is something you did such as renaming a folder or drive iTunes uses, or moving the files manually.  If you can give us hints we can start working our way down the long list.

  • Purchased songs now show a message: "not authorized to play them...."

    Hi,
I purchased a bunch of music from istore, no problem. Downloaded them to my iPod nano, no problem.
I logged in and hooked up my iPod today and received this message:
"Some of the songs in the iTunes Music Library, including the song "my own two hands", were not copied to "Pearl's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
I don't get it. Only think that changed is I had the keyboard, fans and display screen on my laptop replaced recently. Not sure why that would interupt the ipod information. This is the same computer I purchased them only, same iPod they were originally copied to. Is it not recognizing my ipod for some reason? How do I get this to go away and let me listen to the songs I purchased on my ipod?
    thanks!!

No, and you can't. Basically there is nothing you can do to fix this. Tough luck.
