IVolume: will it boost -- not just normalize -- music tracks

I'm looking for an app to boost the volume of some of the songs in my iTunes library.  Some are just too quiet, mostly when played on my car stereo from my iPod.
I've read about iVolume, and understand it'll normalize or equalize the volume of the songs, but I'm wondering: can I also boost the volume?  What I don't want is for the app to simply lower the volume of louder tracks -- I kinda want the exact opposite, or to be able to apply a volume boost to my library, or have all songs normalize/equalize at a higher volume.  Possible?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • CAN I ENLARGE THE SIZE OF ALL TRACKS AND NOT JUST THE ONE TRACK AT A TIME

I would like to enlarge the tracks on the top half of the mix screen and not just the one track I'm working on. I find that most times I'm working in 2 or 3 tracks only and it would be great if I could enlarge the size of those to work with rather than the thin tracks they appear as. I realize if I click on one that it will appear larger below to edit but can I have all the tracks recorded appear larger?

  • HT4527 My old mac book was backed up to a Time Machine drive.  That Macbook is dead.  I have a new Mac Mini.  How do I get the iTunes library (not just the music files but all other data...playlists, ratings, etc) on the new Mac from my Time Machine?

My old Mac died. I had it backed up to a Time Machine external drive (fortunately).  I have a new Mac. I want to get my entire iTunes library from the Time Machine drive to the new Mac. I want not only the music files but all the "library" metadata, playlists, song rankings, unique genre designations. How do I do this?

No backup is a huge mistake.

  • ITunes DJ should allow more specific choices of music, not just from music

iTunes DJ is a great tool. I love how easy it is to use. However, I don't like that you can only specify it to play from all music or from certain playlists. iTunes DJ should be capable of allowing the user to select one or more genres of music to choose from instead of all the music. Not all music that iTunes users have in their own libraries will go good together. For example, you wouldn't want to be listening to Death Cab for Cutie at a party with friends, and then hear Christian gospel music come up. Yes, having the ability to specify specific playlists to choose from does solve this issue a little bit, but not all playlists will include all possible songs that could be played at a party, and not all iTunes users want to take the time to make a playlist of one hundred songs or more for a party. Playlists also have a limited amount of songs in them. What if an iTunes user wanted to play the entire genre in iTunes DJ but not another genre. That user would be required to create a playlist including all the songs of that genre. Genius playlists don't solve that issue because they select songs from many genres that might go good together based on some themes, but do not include specific genres or include all the songs from the specific genres in question. Please, in the coming iTunes updates, could Apple please change the way iTunes DJ works to allow users more control over what is to be played. If any forum readers agree with me, please comment. The more people Apple sees think this way, the more likely they are to make the change. Thanks everyone for reading, and thanks to Apple for your great products and services. Keep up the good work.

iTunes -> File menu -> New Smart Playlist
Genre -> is/contains/etc -> the genre you want
If you want more than one genre in the playlist, just click the "+" button, repeat for the additional genre, and set the playlist to "Match any of the following rules". You can add additional criteria to tailor the playlist as you see fit.
You can then use that playlist to feed iTunes DJ.

  • New computer. how to put songs on my ipod to my library, not just purchased music

Had to reboot my computer.  How to I get the songs on my Ipod Classic in my Music library?  It already transferred the purchased songs.

Rebooting a computer means restarting it and does not lose files.  I take it you did more than reboot.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • I recently lost my Ipod touch. I am wondering if the person who found it connects it to their computer, will my pictures, notes, and Itunes music get deleted (I hope)?

I got my Ipod touch 8 GB, 2 years ago as a gift.
Since then I have used the camera feature to take pictures, and used the Notes feature.
I am wondering what happens to these when the new user (I lost it) wil plug it into their computer?
    Thank you for your time

If you had a screen-lock passcode then they will have to either guess the passcode or have to erase the iPod to use the iPod.
With no passcoe then they read your mail and do other things unless you change your passwords.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Incoming calls not using Bluetooth / Music tracks repeating

I've been having a problematic issue with Bluetooth since upgrading to iOS 7. I have my iPhone 5 paired with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra's Bluetooth system.
Outbound calls use Bluetooth just fine, as does Siri, but any incoming calls all use my iPhone's headset by default. I have to manually switch the phone's output back to my car's bluetooth in order to talk using my car's hands-free system... which really defeats the purpose of hands-free.
I'll note that this is happening both when my iPhone is plugged in via USB and listening to music on the car's stereo, as well as when the iPhone is simply idle in my pocket. I have not tested what happens when the car is playing my iPhone's music via Bluetooth (the audio quality is sub-par to a direct connection and doesn't display the artist/track/album on the console when playing via Bluetooth - ergo I rarely use it)
Secondly, I am having another issue, this time with playing music. I don't believe it's related to the above Bluetooth issue, but it may be related to my car.
Like I said above, I often use my Elanta's USB port to directly plug in my iPhone so I can a) listen to music on the car's stereo and b) skip tracks with the wheel-mounted controls. This all worked flawlessly with iOS 6.
Now, if I skip a track with my car's controls, the Music app will repeat that next track... over and over. When the song is completed, it will attempt to move on to the next song, then immediately backtrack and start playing the previous song again (you can tell so by watching the Music app. The album art will swipe over, then quickly swipe back). I have to manually skip forward to play a new song... Highly irritating.
I'll also note that skipping songs via the wheel-mounted controls is considerably slower than it was with iOS 6. It's definitely a couple seconds after I press a button before the next song starts to play. It used to be near-immediate.
Anyone else having either of these issues? Hopefully it's something Apple picks up on and fixes soon!

Don't know if you got this yet, but I came here looking for answer. Since I just found one, figured I'd pass it on for others:
You have to set your phone's incoming calls to "headset" under accessibility. (Silly, I know, considering, if you hook up a bluetooth, it should automatically default there, but no ...) This walks you through:

  • Can Not Rename My Music Tracks

I am having trouble renaming my music files i can it looks like the file is missing but I can still play the music but everything is jumbled

I cannot rename any of the info for a song, not even adding artwork. I have tried resetting permissions for the entire iTunes folder and it still won't.
    This should be simple.

  • Editing Music Tracks

    Hello
I have just starting to play with fcp x.  As a long time broadcast editor I thought it was about time to learn it.
I have done a short showreel for a friend which is a great way to learn!  I put some pictures down in story order and then put a track of music down to cut too.
I needed to edit the music down to length, but I could find no way to add an in point or out point to the music track, all it did was add the in points to the video (and its audio) track above.  In the end I used the razor blade and cut the music where I wanted and then dragged it back to make the edit.  Also I could not get the music track into trim mode..  Is this the only way to edit music tracks?  Any info would be great.
    Thanks a lot
    Rob

No need to use the blade tool. Just trim the audio clip by dragging the edge of the clip. With snapping turned on, it will be easy to align the end points.

  • How can I retrieve music tracks from the cloud?

I deleted music from my library expecting it to now be available in the cloud.
When I search in purchased items in iTunes and click on the item, it tells me that the original file is no longer available.
I am not expecting the file to be available just the music track/album etc.

I created a new library so I can use it for just my music, but now my ipod will only sync to my old library and not the new one I created, even though I'm in the new library when I open itunes.  Any solutions?

The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device.  Like I said before, the ipod is not syncing to the new library even though I plug it in when the new itunes library is pulled up.  It keeps syncing to the old library...

  • How can i keep the music pushed to all of families devices but the calendar and notes just between my phone and my mac using icloud?

Ok, so my whole family has the same apple ID so that we can all get the same music, and we want to be able to use icloud so that when one person buys a song it will push to all of our devices. But the problem is when I want my calendar on my mac to also be pushed to my phone it pushes to all of my familys devices. How can i keep the music pushed to everyones but the calendar and notes just between my phone and my mac using icloud?

Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

  • ITunes will not open my music CDs when I place them in the DVD drive. I am using Win 7 and latest download of iTunes. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with AV software turned off. No luck. Cannot upload my music CDs to iTunes library. Any ideas?

Using Win 7 and latest download of iTunes, the software will not recognize my music CDs when inserted in my DVD drive. I put a CD in the drive and nothing happens. iTunes does not have a "start" button, or some menu option to tell it to begin copying music to the library, so it just sits there. When I first installed iTunes, it would open the CDs, but I would get an error message after the first track started to transfer. Now, after a coupel uninstalls, disc cleanup, etc., nothing happens when I insert the CD. I am lost here and about to sell my new Ipod Classic because it is useless to me. Maybe I'm just too old to own something like this? Any (serious) suggestions would be appreciated.

In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
    Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer.  If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.
