IWeb not publishing hyperlinks.

Hello,
I just published my new website using iWeb. In the application itself, i have the hyperlinks box checked to be active. I saved and published the site. But when you visit the site online now, the home page does show up, but none of the hyperlinks work. The menu buttons don't work, the movie html snippets don't work.
When you roll your cursor over any of the active hyperlinks, the cursor doesn't show the white glove. When you click nothing happens.
Can anyone please help? The site is: www.kenlazercasting.com
Many thanks.
Ken

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Your logo image is overlapping the navbar at the top. First try moving the logo image to the back and republish. Next edit the logo in an image editor to crop all of the excess empty space from around the logo, replace the existing logo image with it and make sure the navbar is below the image.

  • IWeb not publishing site updates

Starting today - 5/18/09, A site I have in iWeb is no longer publishing updates. The site publishes to my mobile me account, and is redirected to my domain. This is the page in question - http://www.pitassidesigns.com/Portfolio/Web_Design.html
Besides the code iWeb puts out I have added the favicon code, and Google Analytics Code. For some reason when I made some changes to some images, they do not appear as they should. The first image should be swapped with the second, and now the second image is gone. The google code, and favicon code it still there, and I usually have to re-input it after updates. Also the page in iWeb remains red, as if it was not published. I tried to delete that page and file folder from my idisk, and iweb doesn't publish a new one as it should. I tried restarting and nothing. I tried publishing the whole site, and it remains the same.
Any help would be great, I don't feel like manually writing this page out in Dreamweaver, iWeb is so much easier.

Ignore this. As usual when I decide to post this it works on the 10th try. Not sure what happen there.

  • IWeb not publishing website via FTP after adding music

    Hi all,
When I drag a piece of music on my iWeb website and try to publish via FTP, I get the "there was an error communicating with FTP server" message. Any ideas? Yes this is my own copyrighted music, not other people's music.

Try publishing to a local folder and launch the site in your browser by double clicking the index.html file.
This will tell you if the problem is in iWeb or publishing. See...

  • IWeb not publishing movies

Hey there. I'm new to these forums, so go easy on me. I searched the forums for this topic and didn't find anything related to my problem. Recently, I started using iWeb to build a site, and I had a huge problem, and that problem is that iWeb only publishes some of my movies. Now, the format I've been using is the Apple TV settings in Final Cut Express. I realize that iWeb likes small files for uploading. But, with the formats and files sizes being about the same (150-200 megs) why is this happening? Initially, what I did was delete the movies page, create a new one, and sometimes this would work, but not all the time. That, I think is what is most frustrating - The fact that there is this randomness in troubleshooting. I've brought up the overlay and examined my assets in relation to each other, but I can't see any conflict there. I really don't want to export from Final Cut or Quicktime in a web format, as there is a such a huge loss in quality, obviously. Does anyone know of a workaround to keep these movies in a higher quality and have them be compatible with iWeb. By the way, my iDisk is empty, so that's not the issue either. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the discussions. You could try importing your movies into iMovie and then publishing to MobileMe Gallery:
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/#mobileme
Then you can pseudo embed your Gallery movie into your iWeb site — here's a video tutorial briefly showing that about half-way through:
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/web/iweb08.html#tutorial=livecontent
...Visitors will have a full-screen option to view your movies and an advantage for you is that the movies are no longer in iWeb's Domain file — so site re-publishing times are shorter. There's more about MobileMe Gallery here:

  • IWEB not publishing - and never has

I tried to use iWEB to publish, after asing for my password (and validating) it just goes into dialog ... "loging into .Mac" ... stays there forever and refuses to go on. I was able to log-in to my iDisk and manually create a folder called WEB (none existed before), I then put a folder in it called Sites and then drug a test page to the sites forlder in another folder called test.
    I can use: web.mac.com/theimage1/test/
and it works fine I see the page.
When I then try to get iWEB to publish, it just goes to the log into dialog again and nothing happens. It brings up my .Mac log-in page and I do put in my password and it indictes the password is VALID. I have even have tried with my iDisk mounted locally ... iWEB just fails to publish in the publish step.

Such as what type of Internet connection are you using (DSL, Cable, Analog Modem)? Is the connection wired (Ethernet cable) or wireless (AirPort)? In what general geographic location on the globe are you located? Does you ISP (Internet Service Provider) require you to set certain attributes such as MTU (Maximum Transmission Units) to a specific value?
Ok, I am on a cable modem from Roadrunner. It goes to a dLink router with nothing being blocked. The G5 is wired to the network (no airport), the address is manually set not DHCP (and it works on everything else thus far and has for over a year). Safari, Firefox, Fetch ftp, Guru ftp, checking & banking accounts, stock accounts, etc. I am in the Charlotte NC area.
I run my own WEB site external to .Mac and the ftp software and GoLive work fine through the system. The sytems preferneces>.Mac work fine in connecting to my iDisk. Name and password are "valid" according to the Dialog box. I don't use iSync so can't check that. But, log-in and iDisk both work.
I have let the "logging-in to .Mac" dialog run overnight with no result ... I think that's long enough! If I just mouse click on the Log-in dialog box it disappears, not even hit the cancel button.
I don't think it's a network problem. Unless iWEB uses something totally outside the ordinary. All other communications even multi-person iChat Video works well.

  • IWeb not publishing PayPal button widget

As per Burns Media (see below). I have taken the proper steps to insert a PayPal button. However the button does not show up on the published site. I've done this in the past and it did work but not now. I have the latest update to iWeb and running OSX 6.4.2 Is there a problem with these updates or am I just missing something?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jerry
Burns Media Posted this: You can certainly use PayPal on your iWeb site, and it's fairly easy. You would indeed use the HTML Widget - first, log in to your PayPal account (or create one if you don't have one) and follow the steps to create a new button (Buy Now, Pay Now, Gift Certificate, etc.) When you've finished making the button, the last step gives you some HTML code to copy and paste into the HTML Widget. Copy the code from the PayPal site, in iWeb drag the HTML Snippet to your page and in the box that pops up paste the code. Hit Apply and you're done! When you publish the site, visitors can click your "Buy Now" box and be taken to PayPal to buy.

I think this is very similar to the instructions you posted, but here is a visual demonstration showing how to add PayPal to an iWeb site

  • TS2167 iweb not publishing

Please can someone help with some useful advice.  I have just created a website for my new company, published to FTP server (not mobileme) and the first page is uploaded no problem (www.peakskiholidays.com) but if you click the link on any of the other pages these do not load and state and error.  I am pulling my hair out now and I know some will come back to me saying what do you expect from iweb but I wanted to be in control of my own website and found it so easy to use.  I haven't gone made with pages and links etc in the website and I have used this before with my previous website (www.peaktherapies.co.uk) and had no issues at all.
If any one can suggest why this doesn't work and how I can get the whole thing uploaded it would be much appreciated.
    many thanks
    Peakskiholidays

ok I know I am going to come across really dumb here but....
Ok, thanks for the help.  However, the file you indicate is missing - what is this where should it go and what do I do with it.
I have no idea why the domain name is also my site name these were the details given by my host people, although they did say they would sort it out to look better in the browser etc.
Not sure what you mean about making something an image if it's a text?  I have chosen the text 'cracked' so assuming everywhere I have used this (alot) I should split the words individually?
I have gone through all the links at the bottom of my page and they all go to where I want them to go within the website design on iweb, I've tested all ?
Sorry if I am being a little dumb here but the program was easy to use without further IT knowledge, i really appreciate your feedback as I am very keen to get my site live asap but please could you expand on your feedback so I can put these wrongs right.
    many thanks

  • IWeb not publishing to MobileMe

    Hi there
Every time I go to publish my website to MobileMe in iWeb it tells me to sign in.
I've done some research on this and the only thing I can find is messing around with the keychain.
    This is what I've done
Apple Menu > MobileMe and clicked on sign out and close the window
Go to the Finder and go to > Utilities > Keychain Access
Delete the MobileMe keychain and close the window
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer:
    Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.iWeb
    Your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWeb
    Your User > Library > Preferences > ByHost > com.apple.iWeb
Once the computer is restarted Go to Apple Menu > MobileMe and sign back in to your account.
All this lets me do is get to the stage asking if I have the correct permissions to publish what I'm about to publish, then I get that pop up again saying sign into mobile me or sign up for a free trial.
This is driving me mad, how can something thats advertised to work faultlessly together be so incompatible. Has anyone else had this problem?
    Paul
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.6.4)

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
asking if I have the correct permissions to publish what I'm about to publish
This is referring to the copyright of any media you might be using in the site. It only happens the first time you publish (unless you don't check the checkbox to not do so or you delete the iWeb preference file).
Did you try logging out of MMe in the System Preferences, then log in with a bogus username and password and then again with the correct username and password? Give it a try if you haven't.

  • IWeb not publishing Text

Just finished adding, changing, saving, then publishing me iWeb page. It has been fine until now. Currently I am looking at partially complete pages online. Photo's seem to have downloaded but Text is missing.....all text .....on every page.
Everything looks fine on the backend....it is just not showing on the frontend. Is Apple doing something that might be causing interference with web pages?
Any ideas on what the problem might be?

    Yep...sorry!

  • IWeb not publishing update- just asking to log into facebook and freezing... Help, please!

When I "Publish site changes" on iweb, a facebook login pops up, and regardless of whether I sign in or not, nothing happens and iWeb freezes.  the updates never publish, and I don't have the option to try it again. If I quit (sometimes have to force quit) iweb, it says "quitting while your site is publishing can cause problems", but I have left it open for hours, and nothing ever happens.
    Please help!

    Heidi,
Go ahead and force-quite iWeb, it shouldn't hurt the website file. However, just to be safe, open ~User/Library/Application Support/iWeb, and copy (not move) the Domain.sites2 file in there to your home folder before force-quitting.
For some reason, the "Update my Facebook" feature in iWeb causes it to freeze. To fix this, simply untic the Facebook box in the website publishing settings page. Then it will publish correctly.

  • Iweb not publishing changed content

In iweb the "Visit site" button is not enabled and each time I try publishing all my content to www.preppypug.com changes made in iweb are not being published - any suggesstions?

hello i have had the same problem and it was very simple to solve it. Just don't click "Visit Site" button and click "OK" button instead. Then go to your sever and open it, it'd probably already changed your changes. that worked for me. Hope it helps.

  • IWeb not publishing my website

    Hi,
I've just made many modifications to my personal iWeb website,
I'm uploading it to MobileMe and using a custom address (www.hediregaya.com),
Once I click on the publish button, I don't see anymore the pie diagram (status), when I try to Quit the application it returns me the following message:
    Thanks

Perhaps you need to check again with your host that the settings are in fact correct and then check that you have entered these settings in the correct place in iWeb itself.

  • A warning to those with iWeb not publishing to .mac

I made a beautiful web site on iWeb, but when I lost my hard drive, even though I saved all my info, I can not restore my web page to the iWeb program! They make it impossible. I was told I should have save my page (not very sympathetic) but I had all the files saved to a folder so I can upload to my server. The thing they don't tell you is that you CAN NOT save in the iWeb format, therefore you can not put it back in once it's deleted! iWeb changes the format to put it in a folder, and they don't tell you that you are forced to use .mac in order to make sure it's not lost. I am so disappointed in Apple lately! I have had four others and never had the trouble I've seen with this iMac. Intel *****!

{quote}I have had four others and never had the trouble I've seen with this iMac. Intel ***!
    {quote}
There is nothing any computer company can do to stop a hard drive from failing. That is why everyone is encouraged to backup their information. What does Intel ( a processor manufacturer) have to do with your hard drive problems? You can blame Apple, Intel, or anyone all you want but it certainly is not going to fix any of your problems. Nor are they responsible for your data.
Again I'm not sure why you are insisting that this is a problem with not having a .Mac/Me account, because you would still be SOL. The iweb data file is stored on your computer.

  • Newby question.  Iweb not 'publishing' my websites properly anymore

    Hi,
Since I updated Iweb to the latest version (2.0.3), my website pages won't 'publish to folder' properly. Examples of problems I'm encountering include:
1)The dynamic menu bar located at the top of every page no longer shows up on published pages.
    2) My photo log page now shows up empty - no title, no text, and no photos. It now publishes, essentially, like a blank template.
    Please help!

    This should help!

  • IWeb not publishing

Just empty cache in the browser!

Since you have iWeb '08 you must have published to a local folder rather than being able to upload directly from within iWeb. You would then upload from that folder.
Did you upload the folder itself rather than its contents? If you had previously uploaded the folder's contents (which is the correct thing to do) and now you've uploaded the folder itself (or vice versa) you would have placed a duplicate version of the site on the server, one inside a directory with the folder name, one at root level.
Use your FTP program to look at the server and see whether you have two versions.
