Iweb, video and non-mac platforms

ive placed an mp4 video on my iweb site with images and hyperlinks over it. when i view in safari and firefox it views beautifully. when i view in google chrome or on a pc the mp4 jumps in front of the other images and hyperlinks restricting my access to that functionality. any suggestions to get these images/hyperlinks in front of the mp4 and functioning?

You just discovered the way browsers work.
One way to put images in front of the movie is to add the images to the movie itself :

Or click the Tile video in this link

  • Transferring videos from non-mac laptop to ipad air to be used in Keynote

    Hi!
    I've 2 questions regarding the ipad which I hope someone can clarify for me.
    1) Can I transfer videos from a non-Mac laptop (not bought via itunes) to the ipad? Will it function well?
    2) Can I then use these videos in Keynote as part of presentations?
    Thank you!

    You can use a service like dropbox where you upload them from the laptop and then download them onto the iPad.
    The one rub will be if the video is in a format that the iPad will play.
    Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 60 frames per second, High Profile level 4.2 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
    as to inserting it into keynote, you may want to research and see how that works on the iPad.

  • How to obtain Video and Non Video Serial Keys for Premiere Pro CS6

    Discovered that certain codec presets (specifically the AVCHD codec) was not available for Premiere Pro CS6 installed under Creative Cloud for Enterprise.
    Understand there are two different serial numbers for use in installation. One of these serial numbers is labeled "Video," and one is labeled "Non-Video.
    Where are these serial numbers located?   How are the serial numbers obtained?

    Hello Ann,
    Appreciate your reply..
    Here is where some additional confusion arises (reference bottom part referring to Video Serial Keys)   Adobe support said that these Video Keys are to be purchased from the reseller (which makes no sense)
    Error "...a sequence that could not be opened"
    So, if I understand from your replies and what I have read - it is of the belief that by de-activating and re-activating will address the issue of the missing codecs.  Do you believe this to be correct as well?

  • IWeb Videos and Music Play on iPad but not MacBook

    Hi,
    I have created a website on iWeb and everything plays perfectly on my iWeb.  When I launch the site on my MacBook and my husband's MacBook Pro, however, the videos and audio clips do not come up, and they just are blank with a gray "Plug-In Failure" in place of the video.  But I can play them just fine on my iPad and iPhone.  We are both running Lion--is that the problem?  Please help!
    Thank you,

    What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?  What version of iWeb and  what browser are you using.

  • IWeb '08 and non-QT video's

    The current version of iWeb does a bad job of dealing with video that is not *.mov. It trys to use QuickTime to run wmv, mpg, avi, ect files. Only a few of the people viewing my site have QT installed and I don't like forcing them to install it. (Obviously they are Win Users.)
    Is this better in iWeb '08?

    partly!
    quicktime will still be the main format - but you can add any other formats via the html snippets!

  • IWeb Blog to non-.mac Domain

    Hello good folks,
    I have my business Website at its own (non apple) domain. I would like to use iWeb to create a blog, and then attach that blog to my business Website. (Therefore, it would be an alternative to wordpress, blogspot, etc.)
    Is this
    -- possible?
    -- advisable?
    -- easy?
    -- pain?
    A secondary question: If those answers are a reasonable "yes," then is it possible to update my blog from both my Mac Pro and my PowerBook, and still keep everything reasonably organized?
    Many thanks, as always.

    Mireille,
    The helpful tips and product review 'blog' is an 'add-on' to our online store which has a shopping cart and it's SEO set ups that work well. It was made from a template in GoLive. The store is the primary concern and the blog is intended to be a convenient format to provide useful dynamic content to drive search engines and customers to our store.
    If I could figure out to use something besides a frame I would as I understand the frames are not search engine friendly either. After submitting the sitemap for the blog, it was interesting to see that only the apparent entries get listed in Google. So, it appears that it is dependent on how many 'excerpts you show' in iWeb and not the archives and it's content.
    If there is a sitemap generating app that will point Google to the content in the archives, I'd be very interested to know about it and how effective it is. I've found site search options I can add to the blog content if I load it directly to the site and set up pages versus frames....if the content can be searchable and generate the proper site map.
    Here's an interesting page from Rage: http://www.ragesw.com/blog/2008/04/12/seo-for-iweb-how-to-get-your-iweb-websites -into-google-other-major-search-engines/ (which I notice you responded to....:-) )

    Can anyone recommend any (video) webchat software that my family can download that will allow them to chat with me on ichat. I want to avoid downloading any additional webchat software given how good ichat seems. Needs to be free and easy to install.

  • Does Airport Express really communicate the same speed to both Mac and non-Mac devices?

    Okay, so to fully understand my situation, here's a briefing: Our old Netgear router was not pushing nearly the speeds we were paying for (we pay for 30 and were getting 10-15 max, usually much less). I recently got an iMac which means that all of my devices are now Apple made, so I decided to get an Airport Express to hopefully improve our wireless speeds. I set it up with the modem going in the WAN port and the old router attached to the LAN port so that it could still act as an ethernet hub for the few hard-wired devices knocking around. I set up both a network and a guest network, with our original one still active through the Netgear router.
    I get 45 Mbps from the new network on my iMac, but my roommate is only getting around 9. If he connects to the old one, he caps out at about 25. Is the wireless card in his PC just not capable of receiving more than that? He insists that since it's an Apple router it is not as compatable with non-Apple products. Interestingly, I get faster speeds on my iPhone from the guest network than I can from either the new or old main networks in our house.
    I know this is a really long question, but has anyone had this same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Also: isn't the wireless speed of the old Netgear router still basically being pushed through the Airport Express, as it's the only thing connected directly to the modem? Are there any settings I can change to make everything run smoothly? If the PC, Android phones, etc can connect to the new network at the same speed as my Apple products, then we can eliminate the old network altogether if that will help.

    I think I answered my own question. I found this on the web:
    http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
    Seems to suggest that using this third party exe to format it instead of windows inbuilt one will allow for partitions greater than 32GB. So this looks the way to go. And the 2GB limit per file is just for FAT16 not FAT32 apparently, but even if it is I only have a few iso/video files bigger than 2 gig so will just use a splitter on them.
    Hope this is useful to someone else

  • Podcasting on a Ipod 5G video and 2 macs

    Hi everybody,
    Here I am with podcasting problem:
    I've got 2macs and one Ipod. I'd like to put podcast from the two macs in the ipod but I can't. With Itunes, we can click ob "manage podcast manually" that should mean that I could put the downloaded pocast in the Ipod manually.
    My ipod doesn't recognize the manual adding and goesn't put the items in the podcast menu. This is even worst in the video section where you can't see the entire video library, so if you put a video podcast manually is "lost" in the Ipod. Any Idea is very well accepted.

  • Storing and converting videos and slideshows (Mac OS)

    hi all, new user here.
    i have a host of files with some coming from my PC days and am currently using Aperture to store and create m4v and mov files.
    right now i have AVI, mpg, mp4, PDF etcetera etcetera that i am trying to organize. when i doubleclick on some of these files they open in AME and i am guessing this means that i need to associate the file type with some other software or if i should convert them to a more convenient format such as mov or m4v which Aperture recognizes. so right now these files are just sitting in a file folder in various formats since Aperture does not appear very good at recognizing some of these video formats.
    i would like to /store/ this data in a database or in software that will allow me to get it all organized and i am wondering if Bridge is a good place to do this or if user recommend LR or if there is in fact an adobe product to get this data organized.
    i think ideally i would put all images and slideshows and videos in one place but i am guessing this means i would have to convert my videos to some file format (say mov or m4v for Aperture) so i am also wondering if this is a good way to go and if Adobe Media Encoder is the proper tool for this.
    any sage advice is really welcome.
    P.S. i also have PDF and EPS which both don't seem to play nice with aperture.

    Although there sometimes are problems with certain video files Bridge is the correct application to start for organizing your files. You can use the filter panel to only show certain file types, you can rename, rate and label the files, etc etc.
    Some video files should be able to play in the preview window. It pays multiple pages PDF also in the preview window although there can be problems with PDF from InDesign showing all content.
    You can use the folder panel for easy drag and drop files in different folders.
    Anyway, before experimenting make sure to have a proper back up of your files and then start playing around freely to learn more about Bridge.

  • I built a wordpress site with video and none of my video formats (including webm) will play in Firefox. Can you help troubleshoot?

    The site is using a custom Wordpress theme. There are options to add different types of video for different browsers, and I've added webm for Firefox and MP4 for other browsers. The MP4 videos play great on all other browsers, but the webm doesn't seem to be working on Firefox. I get a blank screen on Firefox when I have only MP4 and also when I add the webm video. I'm pretty sure the MP4s were working in Firefox 19, but not on FF 20.
    I added the troubleshooting info below. I have disabled my plugins and add ons as part of the troubleshooting process, but I don't think they're the problem. Please let me know if you have any leads!
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    I am not sure, how much this code snippet will help - in any case you need to embed the file (ogv in the case below) into a wrapper as follows
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.www.universalsubtitles.org/embed.js">
    "base_state": {
    "language": "sl"
    "video_url": "http://videos.mozilla.org/serv/brand/Mozilla_Firefox_Manifesto_v0.1.ogv",
    "video_config": {
    "width": 550,
    "height": 310
    </script>
    The code is from mozilla.si (worpress-based) page.
    Hope it helps.

  • IWeb and non-iWeb files @ same site?

    I have modified my CNAME at my personal domain site to forward to MobileMe, and I am not having any problems with that aspect. What I am wondering is ... can I have both iWeb files and non-iWeb files at the same site and still use MobileMe?
    Basically, I want to use iWeb for my main family web site, but still have my Wordpress blog as well as some older web pages that I don't want to convert to iWeb. Right now, anything that starts with my domain name is pointed to MobileMe, which precludes access to the non-iWeb files.
    Not sure if this is clear or not, but if anyone has any pointers, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks for the advice about putting the other files on MobileMe - I didn't know you could host non-iWeb pages there.
    Unfortunately, I actually don't want to store them there. My Wordpress blog is hosted on my own server (it's not a wordpress.com blog), and my old files are large and I don't want to burn up all the space on MobileMe. I have a ton of space and other good hosting services as my provider (doteasy). I do, however, like the features of iWeb for my main family page, so I want to be able to publish to MobileMe, but still have the domain function as well, with some pages accessible only through the domain, not MobileMe.

  • Why can't Apple make 'publish changes only' for non .mac users?

    The recent iWeb update to 1.1 and the now increasingly obvious differential between .mac and non .mac features has prompted me to post here today.
    I can understand comments, passwords and search facilities being a .mac only experience because it requires server side technology. I can also understand that .mac users get enhanced features like slideshows as well.
    But why is the fundamentally *basic* option to 'publish the changes only' not available to non .mac users?
    I know uploading to .mac uses a different protocol to uploading via FTP, but I don't think it is about that. Obviously the software engine in iWeb 1.1 can now track the pages that have changed, and flag those for uploading. So if the facility to do this is not available with non .mac uploading, is this some form of crippleware? Can any software engineers comment on this or am I talking off the top of my head? [And please mods, don't delete this post - I use the word 'crippleware' in its harshest form, clearly I can still use iWeb to make fantastic websites - I am asking a technical question here.]

    A Trusty Quicksilver G4 Dual 1GHz

    OK, from reading this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=486335&tstart=0
    There is a pattern: An error occurred while publishing file “/blah/blah", while file "/blah/blah" seems to be random from one person to the next, but they all share one thing and that is communication protocol.
    For iWeb to be able to publish changes to .Mac, it has to:
    1. identify if the file exists
    2. do the following:
    2a. if not exists, copy it to .Mac
    2b. if exist, do some sort comparison - CRC checksum -
    2b1. if checksums match, don't copy
    2b2. if checksums don't match copy it to .Mac
    At least I think that's what going on, I don't have .Mac so that is best I can think of. Perhaps, some Apple SW engineers can jump in here.
    Now, the bad part is iWeb has to (and I'm assuming iWeb uses WebDAV):
    1. go thru each file locally
    2. crawl its way into .Mac (WebDAV is a slow protocol) to find the the counter part.
    3. when it finds a file that matches a client side file, it has to (some how) do checksum on-the-fly across the net work (which is slow and congested)
    #3 is I think where it failed, there are many factors here: 1) networks congestion 2) latency 3) protocol overhead 4) checksum calculation time etc...
    iWeb eventually times out because any/all of the above.
    It's nice that WebDAV can author to the host yada, yada, but it's so SLOOOOOW.
    What I would do is for every publishing, I would build a files and their checksums keep it on the host (or local, must be hidden).
    For subsequence publishing, I would (use a fast protocol like FTP) download this pre-built files/checksums list. Locally, do a full publishing, making checksum comparison, the result is delta changes; upload only those. Build a new files/checksums list upload that too.
    What I mean to say is offload everything that is possible to local machine, bandwidth is PREMIUM!

  • Gallery for non .mac?

    Is Web gallery even an option for non .mac domains? I host my personal website on godaddy and am wondering if the coolness that is the new Web .mac gallery can be "published" to godaddy.

    Hi Dave, the beauty about ajax+XML is exactly that you don't need a complicated markup to render flashy pages, the XML part is handled by iPhoto itself and you just need the script to do whatever it wants with your photos, trust me, you don't need a .Mac account or anything more that the script and a plain and common web server, there's no behind-the-scenes magic.
    But don't trust me, go here: http://www.ontoinfo.com/2006/09/22/javascript-flying-pictures-effect/ follow the instructions, make sure to copy the script from their link at their second paragraph and just paste it on your address bar, and that's a ONE-LINE script, much smaller that a tiny picture in size, and you can run that script on any website on the web, provided they got many pictures so you can enjoy it, no special web server or behind-the-scenes magic, just paste it on your address bar.
    It's common to find stuff that you hadn't upload on most web servers, and I don't think Apple would be so naive to put them freely available on user accounts.
    I don't spend my lunch uploading a gallery either, I just use the free Picasa plug-in on iPhoto and it gets uploaded in a couple of minutes, it may not be that flashy, but has more features and control than .Mac, Picasa as you might know is Google, and they master at web applications (ajax too BTW).
    I was a .Mac user for years when it was free and even when they made it a pay service I stayed for a year, still in my own opinion not worthy. Also I got three iPods, The one I use everyday (a 60GB) is full and have never paid a premium or a subscription for it, iTMS is not available in my country for that matter, but if it were, I would gladly pay .99 for a song, but not $69 for a script and 10 useless GB (that's me).
    Yes I've tried iWeb twice, once when it came out and the other a week ago, I didn't like it then, and a week ago found it pretty disappointing, some new stuff but still renders the most horrible markup ever, a simple page takes 10 times to render. Rapidweaver does a much better job.
    On the other hand, and despite the huge disappointment of iWeb, iMovie and the .Mac fiasco, I love iPhoto, it is really and noticeably faster and the keyword engine is great. Also I would pay $80 for Pages and Keynote each, and Numbers is a good start.
