Iwork 09 removed from the iwork 09 folder inthe applications folder
I installed iwork 09 from dvd and it placed a folder labled iwork 09 in the applications folder containing all 3 apps pages numbers keynote .
Question theese 3 apps allway take the longest to open untill they are cached .
I decided to remove them from the iwork 09 folder and just leave the appps in the applications folder .
amazingingly they open exteamly fast now even from a shut down machine faster than itunes iphoto even mail
is there any harm not having them in a separate folder in the aplications folder ?
But I did not move them from the applications folder just removed the folder they were in , in the aplications folder I have downloaded all three iwork apps from the app store on another compouter and they are separately stored in the applications folder so why cant this work ?
Because the Mac App Store installs software in a different way. The Mac App Store will update an app anywhere on your hard drive. The mechanism it uses for this is built into OS X. However, iWork purchased on a DVD or downloaded is installed via an "Installer" application. This installer application is coded to only look for iWork in the /Applications folder. It will not look elsewhere.

This is weird. And I'd bet it has nothing to do with moving them to a different folder. I suspect it is because of a problem with the folder they're stored in or a cache file. I would also suspect that if you totally uninstalled iWork, deleted supporting cache files and reinstalled it that the apps would install just as fast.

Since the original copy remains you can try to run it on two computers.
But some apps do not want you to do that (if the license states the app is to be installed on one computer). Then if the two computers are on the same network you could get a message telling you the app is already open and running on another computer.
Also, many apps have associated files installed in folders other than Applications. In this situation copying just the app from one Applications folder to another on a different computer will not be sufficient for the app to run on the second computer.
But as QuickTimeKirk has already told you, the second is just a copy. So if the legal and other issues are of no concern, you can try it without hurting the original installation. -
I have Snow Leopard ver.10.6.8 and I have uninstalled iwork, because I don't have the equation writer on pages. So I re install it from the iwork's disk and when I tried to open any of the Apps, the system told me " check with the developer to make sure Keynote (for example) works with this version of Mac OS X "

You will have to contact the government to find out why they ordered it removed. An iPhone purchased there can never have it added back in, even in a country where FaceTime is legal.

Hello, I think Firefox was automatically updated the night before last. I think this because I now am sent to the Firefox home page rather than where I was previously going. The issues that have come up are several. 1. Everything other than programs that were on my desktop have been removed. This isn't a big problem but has happened. 2. When I reboot my computer I get messages saying that the profile that has been used is either corrupted or there isn't enough security to open it or something like that. as a result it opens a generic profile and puts everything to default, when I close and reboot it has to do the same thing over again. 3. When I got this issue I tried to go to system restore and it had been turned off. I turned it back on and there were no past dates left to go back to. 4. all my photo files have been removed from the picture area, and all documents as well. I am able to search and locate them but now need to resave over 8000 items to the right places.
Can anyone help me with these issues? Is there some place or service that can remotely access my computer and fix whatever this is?hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

In earlier versions of Firefox, I could set options such that when a download completed successfully, the download entry was automatically removed from the download windows. I don't seem to be able to get this functionality in ver 13.0.1. In this version, i have to right click on each completed download entry, and choose "remove from List". This is very cumbersome.
I really liked the earlier auto cleanup as it left only pending, current and failed downloads in the Download window - just the stuff I needed to pay attention to. Is there any way to set up ver 13.0.1 to make things work the way they worked so well earlier.
A related issue may be that in the Privacy tab, the option for Browsing and Download history have been combined (were they separate earlier? - don't remember). I want to keep my browsing history but not my download history. I can still clear them individualy in the "Clear Recent History" settings, so why can't I set the control for keeping either individually? Or can I?The download history is part of the regular browsing history, so you would have to disable the history altogether as you've already noticed.

GContacts removed from the AppStore -- should I be concerned?
An application that allowed on to browse a local copy of Google Contacts was sold on the App Store for about 3 days.
I bought a copy of "gContacts".
It has been removed from the App Store without explanation.
The only information on the app is that the author was "Shawn Gragg". That's an unusual name -- there are few Google hits on it.
I'd like to know why it was removed. The worst case explanation is that the app was stealing Google account passwords. (That's bad.) The best case is a trademark problem.
I worry about the "worst case" because I (only) now note how little information is available about the author. In future I won't buy an App Store iPhone apps without some information to tell me about the reputation of the author.
Anyone have any ideas?Whew.
It would be a lot nicer if Apple would provide some explanation of these takedowns.
I was 90% sure it was a trademark and logo issue, which is why I didn't change my gmail pw - despite my worries.
I do think though, going forward, that I won't buy any apps that don't have an associated public web site and other ways to measure the author's reputation. There are too many bad things some vendors can do with gmail account info.
Your name shows up two different ways in the get info dialog, once as McGragger in the "composer fields" and once as Shawn Gragg in the copyright field.

Node removed from the cluster and cannot joined to clustr again

I have problem with 2 node cluster. we are running windows 2008 R2 enterprise edition. Suddenly one node had some issue with network connnectivity and it was removed from the cluster. on the console its shows node1 offline. connectivity between the
server public and private nic is fine.
Node 'node1' failed to form a cluster. This was because the witness was not accessible. Please ensure that the witness resource is online and available.
Cluster resource 'File Share Witness' in clustered service or application 'Cluster Group' failed.
'File Share Witness is accessible to both the nodes. from the cluster log i can see failed to attempt lock on the FSW.
I have restarted the failure node. still the problem exist.

Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4
Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture, and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/ then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture something .plist remove them too.
then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist

P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go, then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences". -
Why's my podcast been removed from the iTMS?
I've set up a college podcast, called edPod, and we've so far recorded only a preview episode. Being the eager beaver I am, I submitted my feed to the iTunes Music Store.
Within a few hours, I had received an email from '[email protected]', saying the following:
"This is to inform you that your podcast has been removed from the iTunes Music Store because of a technical problem with your feed.
If your problem can be resolved, you can fix it in your RSS feed, and then re-publish your podcast to the Music Store."
That would be fine... if I knew what was wrong with my feed! I've looked at the apple podcast feed guidelines (http://phobos.apple.com/static/iTunesRSS.html) - and I can't see anything 'abusive' about my feed compared to their example.
Maybe you've been through the same experience, and could lend a hand? My podcast feed is http://www.kedst.ac.uk/edpod/edpod.xml
I'm totally at a loss as to what's wrong with my feed. Can anyone help?

However, I'm not too sure about why my feed is utf-8 while the server is ASCII. The college is in charge of the server, I just upload files to it! :P
I can see that the second line contains a "DTDs" rather than "dtds"... but since I use the application "Podcast Maker" to construct my rss feed - if I change the xml file on the server, will PodcastMaker overwrite it with the wrong information again the next time I update my feed? I suppose I will have to try it and find out! Also, Apple's own example has a capital DTDs... so surely that can't be the reason my podcast has been rejected?

A month ago my iPhone was stolen, I turned on Activation Lock but it never came out BUT an hour ago somehow my apple ID was changed and someone removed from the account both my iPhone and iPad and the iPad was also remotely wiped. As soon as I saw it I recover the password and return the access to my iPad. But iPhone is not registered for my apple ID any longer. Can Apple help me somehow? I have all the documents and the iPhone box. Will they lock the iPhone and return me access to it. I'm sure it's been attached to another apple ID.

No they didn't. You can still create your own ringtone using computer iTunes.
Here are the steps:
Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Library
2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
3. In the dialog choose Options tab
4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
5. Close dialog.
6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes.
9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes's Tones tab for syncing with your iPhone. -
It seems that the tool to create an hyperlink on a pdf file is removed from the toolbar!
In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work. -
