Jakarta TLD in sun 1.3 ?

i'm trying to experiment with tld's. But i can't get jakarta (EA3) stuff running in sun's 1.3 container, there is an AccessControlException. I don't find any information in the jakarta docs.

actually there is some info, they say: use tomcat 4, because you need jsp 1.2 (draft). I guess that solves my problem...

Does anybody know when Java Regular Expressions will be available in J2EE? They are currently in the latest release of J2SE in the java.util.regex package.

I am curious to know
if this is the same package that Apache/Jakarta has,
or SUN actually wrote their own. All three are quite different (jakarta hosts two different regex packages).
The key is that development needs to start now, so a
direction is going to have to be chosen and stuck to. Make your own (project-wide) interface to regexes. This will allow to switch between any particular implementations without affecting the rest code.
And, btw, sun's regular expressions are inherently low-performant and still very buggy.

Printing to java console from servlets

Hi
i would like to use the java console on the browser to display some debugging output from my servlets.
using "System.out.println" would output to the server logs.
is there any way to do this??

I know that there is a Jakarta TLD that does this, it's one of the Tomcat4.0.1 examples.

Double check the TLDs on jakarta.apache.org to see what you can find. If you are using another Java Servlet container it's probably just a matter of changing a class file for the same functionality.

Help! JDev will not validate JSTL 1.1 c.tld from Jakarta

What schema or DTD does JDev use to validate tlds (or any XML, for that matter)? I am using JDev Version 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811). Following is a list of the first 10 (of 101) errors produced when trying to run a project using the JSTL 1.1 c.tld from Jakarta.

You have the CTLoader/Conduit toolbar installed. It's not compatible with the current version of Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Input Managers folder. Move these files to the Trash: CTLoader/ctloader.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ctloader
From that same Library folder open the ScriptingAdditions folder. Move these files to the Trash: ctscripting.osax/Contents/MacOS/ctscripting
And the same Library folder, open the Application Support folder and move these files to the Trash:
Conduit/Plugins/cttoolbar.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ct_plugins
Relaunch Safari.

Where (on the Sun site) are the TLD files?

Could someone tell me where I can find the c.tld tag library descriptor file for jstl.jar ?

I downloaded the j2eesdk1.4.1 , and the files were not in there. I installed the entire app server.
I already have 5 app servers installed on my machine. This is very annoying.
Generally, it takes me too long to find what I'm looking for on the Sun site. In this case, I can't find it at all!

Do you have the jstl.jar and standard.jar? If you rename standard.jar to standard.zip, open it up, look under META-INF, the tlds are there.

Compare Sun Blueprints vs Jakarta Struts

I currently use Sun Blueprints for my projects, following the Petstore application.
But I never use Struts.
So, I'd like to know what is the different between them?
Which is the mostly use in the market?

I would answer this question by asking another question. What is the difference between plain and spicy food?
The answer lies in the taste and some improvements to your palate. I can and am trying to realte the same to the Sun Blue Prints and Struts.
Sun Blue Prints are the base for developing and nurturing your applications using the best practices and industry standards being developed/suggested by the Gurus working at SUN.
Struts on the other hand is the next step to MVC architecture(another blue print from SUN) eveloved over time with some new features added to it to make the development easier with a differnt paradigm all together.
As for the question, what is used more in the industry, SUN blueprints are used invariably everywhere whether you use Struts or not. I have come across many companies and friends using Struts as the new framework for developing J2EE applications.
I guess this is the next step in evolution of J2EE applications. But all said and done, the business needs, budgets, time and resources are some of the factors to keep in mind before jumping on to the bandwagon of using struts for applications which can be developed easily and at a relatively lower cost by using plain Blue Prints from SUN without any gizmos on to it.

I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and is an AppFuse 2.0 project.
I built the .jws file by using Maven2.0 JDeveloper plug-in.
But when I tried to compile the Web, it gave me the following error. Please adivse.
Error(4): Invalid body-content value in TLD: NONE.

Your template contains an IE Conditional Comment that is adding 30px of top padding to #sidebar1. This padding may required in older versions of IE but not IE9.

To fix it, change [if IE] to [if lt IE 9]

HELP ! unable to read TLD

Hi
I've tried to run a jsp page that uses the following taglib attribute:
<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
but it comes up with the error message :
Unable to read TLD "META-INF/c-1_0.tld" from JAR file "file:/C:/jakarta/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.19/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/standard.jar": java.lang.IllegalStateException: zip file closed
I've unzipped the standard.jar file to make sure that the c-1_0.tld file is there and it is actually there, I've also downloaded the latest version of the taglib but both actions have not solved my problem.
The same error message comes up when i use the taglib

it says

could it be that there were some wrong settings in
the web.xml?Possibly. If your web.xml had any taglib definitions in it related to JSTL, then yes, it was set upt incorrectly.
Another possibility was that there was something wrong someplace else that had been fixed but the context not restarted and so the fix wasn't seen. Then the removal of the web.xml forced the context to be reloaded which showed the firx from earlier.
As a side note, you should put back a web.xml, even if it is an empty <web-app ...></web-app>.

Where can I find the fn.tld libraries for download?

I cannot find this tag library anywhere?
Although Sun posts the functions as part of the api documentation, it doesn't seem to be available for download anywhere... It's not included in the jstl.jar, or the standard.jar files...
Any insight would be appreciated...

Newbie Jakarta JSTL not working.

I think this is the right place for asking questions on Jakarta JSTL Standard 1.0 tag libraries. I downloaded this file from Jakarta site - jakarta-taglibs-20030908.zip. Deployed the standard-doc.war in Tomcat 4.1.27. Run the demo standard-examples/elsupport/Out.jsp -General-Purpose Tags Examples - and it is giving the error message in browser window.

Is it necessary to add the tld declaration in web.xml ?.

First, you don't need to put anything in web.xml. Nothing, not a single change. DON'T CHANGE web.xml. OK?

The URI including "jsp" is the "new" one for version 1.1 (which shifts JSTL under the jsp spec)
I think you may have picked up one of the nightly builds. Probably they have modified their examples to work with the new version of JSTL.
Anyway, try this page:

Go down to taglibs, and then click on the link for standard-1.0
The file should be something like jakarta-taglibs-standard-current.zip
Oh yeah - and the c-rt.tld is an alternative tag library that uses standard JSP runtime expressions rather than the EL. They recommend to use the EL versions.

Crystal Reports XI and Sun One 6.1 web server SP 5 Error finding JNDI name

I am trying to create a Crystal Reports XI report in a JSP using Sun One 6.1 Web server sp 5.
At this point I am getting the error �Error finding JNDI name� on Sun One
The application will run on Netbeans/Tomcat
I have done the following:

I created a report using JDBC (JNDI) connection and have the JNDI Connection set to the name of DATA.
The report works just fine in Crystal Reports.
Then in Netbeans I created an application and it runs in the Tomcat part of Netbeans

I get the error finding JNDI name � how do I tell Sun One where the JNDI is to make Crystal Reports work?

I tried the following to test the JNDI
I am trying to do JNDI in Sun One Web server 6.1 sp 5 but I seem to be missing an important part. Problem with adding Sun JSF RI v1.2 as a new library in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1

Hi,
I have a problem with adding a latest JSF 1.2 RI from Sun (https://javaserverfaces.dev.java.net/files/documents/1866/44998/jsf-1_2_03.zip) to JDeveloper as a new library.
I created a new User library and added into it jsf-impl.jar and jsf-api.jar from JSF 1.2 RI.
Then I try to create two new JSP Tag libraries based from .tld files.
When a .tld file is placed in "TLD File:" field there is no information below about Library Version and Required JSP Version. If I check "Execute Tags in JSP Visual Editor" and click "Customize" button - list of tags in "Customize Tag Library" window is empty.
I have errors when I try to use JSF Tags from this new library in JSP page like :
"Can't create tag instance: f:view (class: null). Make sure, that the tag class or a library contained this class is available in this application"
(free translation to English)
Is this possible to add JSF RI v1.2 as another library in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.1 ?

Hi,
This solution is not exactly for Jdeveloper 10.1.3.x I think.
- "Create a JSF system library." section, point 2. - there is not possible to add library in folder other than User I see, so I added it in User folder.
- "Register the JSF JSP tag libraries." section, point 5. - in JD 10.1.3 there is no dialog box, I checked checkbox "Show Tag Library in Palette". A new library was added to User folder but there is no new libraries in component Palette.
Even as I use "Edit tag libraries .." from Component Palette context menu and add manually new tag libraries to selected, there is no libraries in Component Palette after it.
I feel so problem is with different .tld files format, not with adding libraries method.
